Reviews of Kiwi North: Museum, Kiwi House and Heritage Park
N.
Been here with my husband and was lovely place to spend on your weekend..
The kiwi so cute, you can see them cleary during lunch hour. There is two of them, and they will come out for eat or walk around their cage.
Also there is a walk path behind the museum which is very nice too.
We spend an hour doing whole tour and was worth it..
J.
We had such a blast. Customer service on arrival was so warming and inviting. Very informative.
We spent a good 2hrs here. Soo much fun and interactive. Preferred it to the Auckland Museum
Highly recommend checking this out. Super affordable and its money well spent. Goes back into the trust.
The Kiwi bird was so awesome to see in its habitat. Super active. Loved it
B.
A great local resource. We'll presented and maintained facility. A natural history museum, art gallery, kiwi-house, Tuatara and gecko displays (live), miniature trains, shop. Great family facility. Pleasant helpful team. Check it out.
H.
Super friendly, well appointed. We were delighted to see a living kiwi, going about it's business. Awesome displays in the museum and the trams and trains were going. Excellent day!
F.
Lovely Reception staff welcomed us. They explained what we could expect from our visit. Very informative. We enjoyed our visit, especially the Kiwi Sanctuary 😀
G.
The museum was great.i enjoyed the Moa history
M.
Trains day was a hit with my 9 year old boy! The Gemstone exhibition was worth a visit too as he enjoyed chipping away the ice to reveal the stone that he could keep. Great day out.
L.
Great place to see Kiwis ever! We had the trip to Whangarei and found this place in Google Maps. It charged us $20 per person to visit, but it’s definitely worth it!
We ran into staff named Joey who was knowledgeable and friendly. She told us many information about Kiwi and other extinct birds.
This facility is operated by fund and donations, so if you like this place and want to encourage them, you can visit the website called TripAdvisor and leave the reviews which is a good way to support this wonderful place.
R.
It was fun, informative and convenient. Very understanding customer service. Unfortunately not everything was open to the public (school holidays activities could be a great addition for the duration of). But we had fun, 4 hours went past quickly.
P.
Very friendly staff members, very cute native animals! Remainder once again, TUATARAS AREN'T LIZARDSSSSSS! (cough cough) anyways, great education place for students and children and foreigners to visit :3
C.
Great little museum. The people that work/volunteer are walking encyclopedias about those areas. The wonderful woman in the kiwi exhibit was so interesting with her knowledge of kiwis. Thank you for such an excellent afternoon.
B.
Very nicely set up, all kinds of cool animals and was very professional and clean. Super informative as well! Make sure to come in the morning or around lunchtime, I can too late and the kiwis were already settling in. Wish I lived closer to come back again.
F.
A very unique place to see live Kiwis. There is also a lot to learn about the Kiwis and nature of New Zealand. Have been here many times, and each time again fascinating to see those little animals. The people who work there are very committed to their animals and the future of the Kiwi.
G.
Very friendly and informative staff! This place is buzzing with life, and is very family friendly.
Lots of interesting and interactive things set up. All of the artifacts have an intimate personal history.
Definitely would like to visit again.
A.
Greeted by friendly staff who quickly scanned our covid passes. They gave us a rundown of the offerings and we went to the kiwi house first. The corridor to the kiwi enclosure has small gecko enclosures and a weta station. There is lots of info on boards about the NZ flora and fauna. It takes a few minutes for your eyes to adjust to the darkness inside the kiwi enclosure and there's no guarantee that you will see one, but we were rewarded today.
The museum - on the first floor and accessible via stairs or lift - is a trip through Northland history and well worth spending time to see it all. The moa bones can't fail to amaze. Great for kids as some of the exhibits can be touched. A very interesting couple of hours.
J.
We have seen and touched a kiwi for the first time in the place. Could have been better if some areas are open.
T.
The receptionist was amazing and sociable! Really nice to see Kiwi! The museum was fascinating!

A.
Great place to see kiwis and interesting museum also vintage train and miniature railways so plenty to see and do
G.
Very quiet. We got to hang out and watch the pair of kiwis play. We were there for 2h+, including doing a museum tour upstairs and it just flew by.
K.
I could see a Kiwi for the first time in my life!
Good for walk.
C.
Super cool place, went to check out some kiwis but they had so much more!! Lots of different exhibits.
M.
Lovely place. Lots to see. Kiwi house and geckos are awesome.
N.
You get to see kiwi, rustling about in their kiwi house and learn about Whangarei's history for great price.
f.
Great place to visit for young and old. Take your time during the visit especially the museum.
P.
I actually saw the famous kiwi. What a awesome selection of old cars and trucks, not to mention the freestanding engines
L.
Awesome - we were lucky enough to see one of the kiwi very close to the glass. She was actively digging for food right in front of us. We were able to spend time with one of the staff who shared lots more info on the kiwis at the centre and their behaviour in the wild.
P.
Kiwis were fantastic! Great experience to see them foraging around. However the museum is only average. The colonial house is under renovation so overall we felt it was average. Once the builders are done it will definitely be worth a visit.
P.
What a hidden gem this is!!! We took a 4 yo and 7yo to visit and their English parents. None of which had seen a kiwi before. The kiwi house is the best I have ever been to and we had close up viewing of the kiwis. We stayed for feeding time and we weren’t disappointed!
To hear the exclamations of miss 4 was delightful. The staff were excellent and I highly recommend a visit!
R.
We really enjoyed our visit. The Kiwi enclosure is excellent with a great view of the kiwis foraging. If you have children ring ahead to ensure you visit when the trains are operating. Take lunch as there is no cafè
T.
The format is very good, kiwi enclosure appears to be excellent and staff super friendly.
Museum is well structured and informative.
Slightly disappointed that the outside exhibits were closed but it's understandable due to lack of tourists.
T.
The whole family always love a visit here, well worth becoming a friend of Kiwi North & getting as many visits in as possible. Along with being able to utilize the discounts it offers.
We always find something new to see. Customer service is 5 star plus.
We recently held a kids birthday party here, & parents & kids were delighted with the whole experience. 🤩
M.
An amazing experience! Went there with My Husband this Sunday. It will take around 1.5-2 hours to see all three sites - the Kiwi House, The Museum and The Heritage Park.
If possible try going at the time when they feed the Kiwi Birds! (We were there for the 3 pm feeding time) You will enjoy seeing how fast these shy birds come out as soon as the food is placed inside. :) It was so cool watching them run around. The staff was very informative and shared interesting details about Kiwis and the Geckos.
The heritage park including the small Chapel is also worth seeing.
Overall it was an amazing experience and time well spent! 😀
A.
We had a private viewing for the 3pm feed today, none else here, the keeper stopped by and gave us a heap of information on the kiwis, the breeding program and the plans, great views of the birds as there are feeding stations set up near the windows, well worth the trip
R.
Really great place to go for families. Big steam train, tram, miniature trains, tractor rides with very reasonable prices. Sausage sizzle $2. Dixie band was good fun. Lots of things to look at including large machinery.
A.
a very good place to go to with your family. the train tracks are fun and the ancient house there is beautiful in a kind of spooky way.
A.
Entrance fees $20 but totally worth it. Good place to explore Kiwi Bird, Tuatara & Gecko. Feeding time for Kiwi Bird is 11am, 1pm & 3pm strongly recommend to go 11am as kiwi bird is most active for the first feeding of the day. Staff is very friendly and informative. Shout out to Joey as she explained a lot about kiwi bird. There is also a museum and a park. Steam Train operate on the 3rd Sunday of the month.
K.
Not too expensive. Museum, Heritage Park, Train Rides, Kiwi Encounter, Bird Recovery Facility, all in one place. Great place to visit with young children and older children. Nice scenery with an amazing collection.
T.
One of the best kiwi houses we have been in, saw a kiwi. Great service and friendly staff.
R.
A nice place to visit with kids. We went to see the kiwis and were not disappointed. The large enclosure allows you to find a quiet spot to sit and watch for the kiwis. On the way in to the kiwi enclosure are several lizard enclosures to learn more about New Zealand’s amazing fauna. The gift shop at the entrance is nicely stocked and there is a small area set aside for children to do some drawing and colouring in.
A.
The Kiwi House is very educational and a great opportunity to see kiwis up close
B.
Parking options are via 2 gates about 500m apart. Gate 1 adjoins the museum buildings. Gate 2 by the train track. Excellent day out for the family. No café on site. Rides are very reasonable (cheap)
E.
Had a lovely time with my wee man. Got there late but one of the ladies gave us a private tour through and helped us spot all of the geckos and kiwis and shared her knowledge with us. It is a tad expensive for the size of the place.
Z.
This place was very cool. The staff are friendly and informative. The displays are all very neat and fun to look at. We were able to see both the Kiwi birds in the enclosure which was so exciting to see. The rest of the museum was very cool and interesting to look around. Highly recommend!
S.
Kiwi feed show is great, you can see kiwi in a small distance
K.
Great place, geckos, tuatara's, and kiw's, as well as a nice little walk around a heritage park, that includes a medical museum
B.
the attraction has 3 main areas - the kiwi house, the museum and the grounds. The grounds are free to visit. The museum and kiwi house require an admission fee. The museum is nothing exceptional but the kiwi house is great if you have enough patience to wait for the kiwis to come out of the burrows!
Joey at the front desk really made the visit though - she was so friendly and fun with great knowledge. Such a personal level of service - thanks Joey. x
E.
Fantastic value for money, lots to see.
Took my hubby and I two and a half hours to see everything.
Funded mostly by community.
Great customer service too!
Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
S.
Had a great time and finally seeing the live kiwis in NZ. Very friendly staff and my son had fun looking at geckos and stoats. Ample parking space too. Best to go for the morning feeding times around 11am.
C.
If your in or near Whangarei, Kiwi North is a must see place. The layout is great and the staff very attentive and helpful, showing that they have the birds welfare foremost in mind. The Kiwi birds were easily able to be seen (after a few minutes to allow our eyes to adjust to the darkness), even as the staff put out food for them. This is much better than several other Kiwi houses we have been to in the past. Highly recommended.
S.
Best place for viewing of Kiwis in Northland
R.
We enjoyed it, had no idea it was that good.
A.
It was a great opportunity for our family to see a kiwi close up! We came at feeding time 11am and got to see them running around and eating. The kids also enjoyed the other animals and tuatara. The miniature train section was also a hit. The museum is small but still has some interesting items. It's good for a 2+ hour stop.
J.
Amazing place for learning about nz kiwi recommend
R.
That was interesting watching a kiwi birds' couple and a few reptiles there, as well as visiting the museum. However, we found tickets at $20/adult a bit pricey for the experience: Auckland Zoo has the same kiwi enclosure and reptiles plus heaps of other animals for $24/adult
Z.
Great to actually see some kiwi birds and learn so much about them!
R.
Only way to get there, on Driving miss daisy, or the other taxi service. Power wheelchair friendly, Excellent place to visit. Beautiful Northland bird rescue service, and kiwi house plus Northland history.
A.
Very nice place to visit with family. Lots of things to see. Highly recommend
Z.
Staff Joey was really helpful. She showed us around the Kiwi House and gave us a lot of interesting facts about the creatures we saw there. We can feel her passion about her job and the great nature. We really enjoyed our time spent there. Thank you so much!
T.
If you're patient you can take a really close look at the kiwis
the staff were also really helpful. The one behind the reception took us on a little tour around the museum and explained some stuff to us.
The gift shop also has many things to offer and for the price of the tickets (15$ for students) there is a big variety of things you can see!
K.
An excellent little Museum with a lot of local, historical information.
Also making great efforts to preserve the Kiwi.
In the next few weeks, they have one male, ready to be introduced into the wild soon & two ( male & female ) chicks arriving straight after. I wish them luck.
Excellent info given by the staff.
J.
Great place to view kiwi birds and Tuatara! Staffs are really friendly and informative!
A.
Nice museum vey nice place to visit I even for train travel
L.
A couple reasons I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5: Kiwi North only keeps two kiwis in their kiwi house at a time and it's hit or miss with seeing them. I was lucky enough to be able to watch one wandering around and I enjoyed it. Try to go around feeding time (if you call the staff will let you know the times) as they might be more active then. I thought the cost to get in was too high considering we'd only be able to see two kiwis, and maybe not even that. I know one can also visit the museum next door but I wasn't really interested in that. I came for the kiwis. Still, the museum was fine, it had some neat stuff in it so if you have the time you might as well stop since you're already there.
C.
Great place in Northland to see live kiwi and step back in time to a day of our grand perants.
S.
Great place to visit if visiting Whangarei, the kiwi birds are fed at 11 and 1 so plan your trip around these times and you could do It a kiwi. We did. First time in my life that I have seen one and it was worth the wait! The staff are really knowledgeable too and took the time to answer my daughter's questions.
S.
Really enjoyed our visit and especially pleased to see the male Kiwi roaming and eating food. Staff where friendly, informative and very passionate about their roll. Please make the most of this wonderful Museum while you can.
R.
Great fun. We even got too see the kiwi digging a hole right up against the glass
M.
I went to Kiwi north a couple of weeks ago. We got there late. They told us it would be better to come back tomorrow but we planned to leave in the morning. Didn't see the birds but signed our tickets and said we could come back. I went back a few days later and saw both the Male and female. Requires patience as you have to let your eyes adjust. It's not a zoo type situation these birds get released into the wild. Recommend going late morning to early afternoon for the best chance to see them
A.
A great place for kids and cultursl enthusiasts
V.
A nice little spot for around 2 hours.Quite diverse - or random, depending on your viewpoint! As well as the two kiwis, which you may or may not see as they don't always come out even at feeding time, there is a small number of other reptiles, a museum focussed on the local area (the skeleton of the extinct Moa is cool) and some historic buildings that have been moved to this site. All quite interesting and the staff are very friendly and helpful..
G.
Awesome to see a real life kiwi! 🥝 Informative staff. Museum upstairs has some cool history too. 👍
D.
Well worth a visit , even seen a kiwi
C.
Arrived in time for 11:00 feeding so got to see the Kiwis. Staff were very informative and passionate. The Tuatara 'Flash' was brought out for us all to get a close up of him. Again his keeper was very informative especially when he was talking with a very young group of children .
Really enjoyed my visit.
H.
Very nice receptionist which gives us a lot of tips and staff takes really good care of the two kiwis who live there and shows us some different animals.strongly recommends it if you are a animal lover😊😊😊
A.
This was worth the time if only to see their adolescent kiwi pair that they will released into the wild next year. Their large inclosure is very comfortable and mimic's they natural environment. The rest of the heritage park museum is also well worth seeing.
E.
I liked it but it was a BIG shame that all the buildings like the medical museum and the train and observatory (and more) were closed on that day, we were not to told that when we paid admissionas these were the things we came to see. Nice to see the kiwi i guess
J.
Went for the kiwis, saw the female up close as the food had just been put out. The male was busy in his burrow. The rest of the grounds was nice to stroll around but we were not interested in the other sights. Be patient when watching the kiwis.
D.
Wow lovely to go along and actually see some live kiwi.went along for a day outing and thoroughly enjoyed our walk around the estate, lost my ph,heading out and some beautiful person had picked it up and handed it straight to the desk, was so happy to know this, when I called the following morning, saved alot of hiccups, bless them lil cotton sox
G.
Kiwi haven. Go at feeding time and although not guaranteed to see the pair chances are you will. Better viewing than Auckland zoo and a lot more friendly. Keeper took the time to chat and answer lots of questions. Highly recommend.
S.
Fantastic to see some Kiwi birds and the staff were amazing. Behind the kiwi house are some older buildings which personally I found not too interesting. Main focus the Kiwi birds make it an amazing experience as you get a great xhance to see them in captivity.
B.
Lila was amazing! We stopped off right before close and although not the best time to visit she was kind enough to talk to us about kiwis and answer all our questions - clearly very passionate - a huge thank you to her and Bree - we will definitely be back!
P.
For 20$ you can see two cute little kiwis in there natural habitat, a varied museum, take a walk in the park and grab some great souvenirs. The stuff was super friendly and motivated to make our visit as pleasant as possible. Really worth it!
J.
Great place to visit. Very helpful staff.
B.
Such a great learning experience with very knowledgeable staff who were more than willing to chat with us for a extended period of time and answered all our questions. Got to see both kiwis eat during feeding time and a tuatara, which was an amazing experience!
N.
There are a lot t of things to see and do at this museum. Firstly there is the Kiwi house, which has various native reptiles, including Flash the tuatara.
The kiwi enclosure is darkened, allow time for your eyes to adjust and then spot the kiwi doing their thing.
There are loads of exhibits in the museum itself, from moa bones collected locally to old machinery and special displays such as WW1. It is a good collection of the local natural history.
A.
Although, I found the entry price to the museum slightly expensive. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the various Geckos when walking thru to the Kiwi enclosure. Both Female and Male kiwi's had recently been fed so they were walking around as though strolling in the moonlight after a tasty meal. We then ambled around the museum and looked at the under garment exhibition "Inside Out" in a side room. Looks like pure torture to have warn a slimming corset. The near complete Moa bones were awesume, as was the waka and various other exhibits, historical stories of Whangarei, Kamo and surrounding areas were very informative. We then went down to the Heritage park Railway to have a ride on the Diesel engine called Johnny. Then we went to look at the Clarke Homestead built 1886, Magnificent. We cruised around the beautiful grounds then made our way back up to the Whangarei Native Bird Recovery Centre. Where some Tui's and Kereru were in residence. We really enjoyed our time wondering around Kiwi North.
J.
Great experience! Seems a bit dear at first, but I'm so glad I did it. The rangers love their job and tell you anything you want to know about Kiwi birds. They're experts! Great job guys.
A.
The variety of interesting clubs and museums on the grounds is near guaranteed to have something to interest everyone. Train days and festivals are fantastic for a kids and adults alike.
S.
Not much to see here. The adult birds had just been transferred when we visited and had been replaced by a pair of chicks. They never left their burrow and we wasted more than an hour watching the monitors, hoping to get a glimpse.
N.
A must to visit place. Amazing and informed staff. The kiwis were adorable. Muesume was very educational and enlightening. Thank you for all your efforts.
T.
Great day, fun for children. Cute train rides. Enjoyed the Kiwis we actually got to see them.
S.
Awesome place. We were very lucky to see both female and male kiwis. All areas are well-maintained. The reception lady was so pleasant. Worth visiting.
V.
Children were keen to go, youngest one was very keen to see dinosaur bones, (well the Moa skeleton) Did quick Google search was pleased to read great for kids. BUT alongside that is restaurant and yes I didn't look at it properly instead thought great a restaurant so we'll have breakfast there. PLEASE REMOVE RESTAURANT FROM YOUR SITE OR PUT X ALONGSIDE IT!! We wanted to stay longer and to take the train ride, but children were hungry so se had to go, I was disappointed.
N.
Great place to see kiwi birds and other new zealand native creatures. Very friendly and knowledgeable staffs. Has a little museum too. There's a lil chapel "oruati chapel"with a history behind. You can park through the chapel window. The smallest chapel shaped like an octagon.
E.
Seeing the two kiwis running around their enclosure was a really cool experience, and the rest of the museum had a few cool artefacts. The kiwis are quite hard to see and you have to wait a while sometimes but we could still clearly see them.
W.
Great setup,informative n friendly staff
T.
Seeing the kiwi and lizards was awesome. Little museum was really interesting too! Staff were lovely!
V.
Wow just wow! I've been to kiwi houses elsewhere and this is by far the best I've experienced. The museum is just the perfect size and the pricing in the gift shop is very reasonable
G.
Kiwi house was brilliant - the tip is to go early in the morning if you can, the kiwis are more active. The historic buildings also well worth a look.
K.
A wonderful experience watching the kiwi in the kiwi house, a lovely walk around the grounds looking at the heritage buildings, and great views too.
C.
Small, local museum with some interesting artifacts in it. For my money, the best bit was seeing the Kiwi out and about in their enclosure and the Tuatara that was shown to us in the gift shop. He was really neat.
M.
Highly recommend checking Kiwi North out. My daughter and I really enjoyed it. The staff were lovely and helpful.
C.
Friendly knowledgeable staff, may be a long wait to see a Kiwi, they sleep a lot. Phone first to find out planned feeding times and increase your chance of seeing them out and about
a.
Love it it is such an amazing place as a family we love going to any events that are there we even go there some weekends and just walk around it is so beautiful I love the old trees
G.
Definitely recommend spending some time here. I loved it!
M.
Can't remember what I was doing there as I do go quite often, and there's lots to do and always have a great time.
R.
The grounds, the train rides, the Kiwi House, Observatory, it is just a really cool place.
Love it here, and return as often as able.
The staff are incredibly helpful, go visit!!
W.
Lovely intimate, safe location to spend a night in our motorhome, before visiting the museum in the morning.
C.
Very interesting to walk through. I had a mobility scooter and managed reasonably well. Didn't see any kiwi 2day guess they had a hard night out. Lol
N.
This was a really nice place to go. Was a door charge. But definitely worth it. Cool seeing some history and showing my cousin a kiwi. Definitely recommend
A.
Highly recommended to visit. You can see Kiwi bird, learn about sea life, birds, pests and other animals. About kauri tree and Maori people culture ❤️
S.
Just stunning, the volunteers all beavering away, all had time to matter, made you feel so welcome. I would thoroughly recommend a visit there.
P.
A must do. Get there at Kiwi feeding time. Lovely gift shop and reception staff knowlegable on their subject. Nice walk around the old farm
G.
Saw the Kiwis eating. Museum was interesting. Wandering around the buildings outside was fun.
R.
Amazing experience, the kiwis were so active and happy and the staff were so helpful and informative! So great.
H.
We enjoyed the Kiwi house and the museum. Just unfortunate it was too wet to walk around the whole complex.
P.
Real Kiwis, Awesome little place!
J.
A little bit of something for everyone. .Keep an eye out for open days
P.
Seeing the kiwi is the highlight here but you have to pay a handsome price. The walk outside is free but there is nothing much to see.
S.
Awesome experience. I was lucky enough to be there when it was feeding time :) The staff are very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions! A must do if visiting Whangarei :)
T.
We'll thought out educational facility. Lizard and kiwi we're interesting, and staff were informative and friendly.
Didn't get to see the rest of the grounds, as it was raining quite heavily.
D.
Fantastic. Medieval madness festival. Awesome day. Great venue we saw 2 kiwi in the kiwi house. So special.
L.
Cool place, incredibly friendly and helpful staff. And an amazing Kiwi experience
C.
The train, tram and tractor rides here are so much fun!!! I love them! It's such a nice thing to do with the kids
M.
Fantastic value for money. Great day.
M.
Had loads of fun at the kiwi north open day. Train rides, tractor rides and best of all mini trains. Will be going back next time there running
M.
Most amazing environment especially to see Kiwis being fed. Grounds are well kept. Great place to visit.
S.
Lovely place to take your Grandies
M.
Small museum where you can also see kiwi birds. As it was raining I didn't explore the outdoor area. Not worth going out of your way, but okay if you are nearby.
U.
Absolutely love visiting here when I'm in Whangarei. Definitely recommend 👍
G.
Very good display enjoyed it something for young and pld
R.
Not big enough, not very interesting.
Kiwi is shown better than in the Auckland Zoo
R.
It was ok very hilly. Wish the train was going when we there
P.
nice history walk and great to see a kiwi upclose and our native lizards
C.
Loved it, watched a kiwi being fed, the staff were very friendly and informative. Lots to see. Awesome miniature railway.
a.
Very helpful staff.
Got to see 8 month old kiwi feeding
T.
Great place to visit! Watching Kiwi in their natural habitat is amazing.
C.
Excellent. Definitely worth a visit!!
S.
Not a bad stop to try to spot the elusive kiwi bird. Some ok other stuff to see as well. Reasonable stop to stretch your legs.
I.
The best place to see the Kiwi.Just come in the feeding time and you will see it 100%. A small museum is also quite good.
J.
Great experience! Just in time for the Kiwi Feeding. And the gentleman who was feeding them was very informative about them
C.
Live kiwis! Very nice, informative staff as well. The surrounding Heritage Area is nice to walk around as well.
S.
Such great facilities! What an amazing place to have a fifth birthday with the trains and the Dufty Room. ❤️
S.
Very informative, only thing that was a minus was that the rest of the heritage park was close.
N.
Historical Informations are well organized and useful to children who love mistry of history
T.
A true gem and must see in Whangarei. This museum, kiwi house, conservation centre and community facility is well worth a visit.
d.
Very informative and educational for the kids
刘.
Awesome place to go , staffs are super friendly, two kiwis in there, very active.
A.
Open days are great for little kids with trains etc running.
E.
Best place to see a couple of kiwis in a nocturnal house. Fantastic staff, knowledgeable, proud of their work, helpful...couldn't praise enough :-)
B.
Awsome place its a must do!
S.
Brilliant, got to watch the kiwis being fed. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable
M.
Great place to see some kiwis (albeit in captivity) if you haven't had any luck seeing them in the wild.
L.
Kids really enjoyed seeing the kiwi and exploring the rest.
A.
A must-visit place, friendly staffs and great experience.
P.S. Kiwi feed at 11am, 1pm & 3pm
R.
Great thing to do on a rainy day. Kids loved it, Cute Kiwis and a great museum too.
M.
We had to wait about 30 minutes to see one of the kiwis but the employees are very helpful and share a lot of interesting information.
K.
My three sons loved the trains. The men running it were kind and funny and were happy to wait for us.
N.
One of the quieter Kiwi displays in NZ. There is also a great little local museum to look around upstairs.
E.
Really nice place to observe kiwi and other animals. There is also interesting museum.
M.
Very friendly and informative staff! The 2 kiwis there seem to be very well taken care of! :)
M.

(Translated) A must in Whangarei. We went there on Wednesday June 17, 2020, it was not very crowded and they have two adorable Kiwis, easily observable. The staff is super welcoming and will be happy to explain in detail the characteristics of the Kiwis.
The Museum is located right next to a veterinary clinic for native birds from NZ, as well as a small hamlet very pleasant to visit.
Worth the detour !!

(Translated) Very nice museum and small zoo. With a lot of patience, you can watch real kiwis here. There are also geckos and other small animals. Stuffed native animals can also be admired. There are still many different houses from the Wilhelminian era on the Arial, so there is a farm, church, school to admire as an example. The museum part is also very interesting. A great trip. The staff is very nice too.
