I am a beginner eager to learn the guitar. I read all I could and found the guitar I thought would suit me best at this stage. While other chain music stores carried the guitar, I really wanted to support a locally owned music store. I was not disappointed - right away I got excellent service, great communication via email before coming to the store and they even made the 25 year old guitar my partner owned that I was learning on so much more pleasant to play and gave it a spruce up. I am very pleased with my purchase and I know I will be back to this shop simply because of their great service, expertise and advice and genuine kindness to a newbie. Robbie and his staff made my day.

Total pros - sound advice, low pressure sales environment, outstanding customer service and great product range. Robbie went above and beyond to support us, even once we were home and having trouble with the install. Highly recommend.

We were searching for a gift for my 18 year old's birthday 🎉 The staff at Beggs were so helpful. They would come and give us the guidance we needed. Answer any questions. Then let us explore their quality selection of instruments. The guitar we chose had the most stunning tone and came with a quality soft shell case. This Sigma solid wood guitar will only sound better and better as the years roll by... Unfortunately, it did not have a pin for the shoulder strap... No problem! Pin attached and guitar ready for years of Waiata! 😁

Thank you Robbie - I'm a very happy Tauranga customer. My Yamaha PSR e463 keyboard arrived from Beggs Nelson within a week. The road to trying to find this particular keyboard somewhere in New Zealand wasn't easy. I was told locally, that stock was unavailable - full stop. No offer to enquire, search or even take my details for a waiting list. Extensive phone calls and web searching ended when Robbie promised to pull out all stops to find the keyboard for me. My expectations weren't high but I was delighted when Robbie called to say the keyboard would be on its way to me. Of course I ordered accessories from him .... why wouldn't you want to spend more in a store where the salesperon has given such exceptional service?

A shout out to Luke, at Beggs Music Nelson, for setting me up with an Eastman semi-hollow electric guitar. Just out of the box, but following initial trial of model and a swap - not easy in these times. A beautiful instrument with value for money now that reminds me of the Ibanez (Les Paul) that I bought also from Beggs in 1978-79, setting out. Ended up on these guys doorstep after a less than average experience at a neighbouring store… (no names) huh mmmm.. Robby and Luke looked after me like royalty spent the better part of the arvo trying guitars and amps with many laughs along the way! Super stoked with my purchase! Great place to shop. Robbie looked after me above and beyond with my online SVS PB-1000 Subwoofer order. He even spent quite a lot of time answering questions via email on the last day of his Christmas break. Throughly impressed with the outstanding friendly service. What can I say, top notch service every time I walk in the door. I have bought a variety of items from Beggs ranging from Studio Monitors, condenser microphones, a PA System, my first Cole Clark, to my latest: A Fender Precision Bass. Robbie is a good friend of mine, but on top of that he is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the products he sells. Beggs is easily the best music store in Nelson, if not the whole of NZ.

Diabolical Bombardment of "music" tv at both those places. Beggs helps restore/keep your sanity and well-being. And brilliant for developing your musical talents. 🎼 😊🥰

We've purchased a few things from Beggs over the years and everyone here is always very kind and helpful. I recently purchased an awesome Telecaster and amp from them and I'm very happy with the advice and guidance the guys provided (I didn't catch their names, but thanks for your help!). I'm very happy with my purchase and will definitely be back.

Karl at Breggs was is my hero! I was travelling around Nelson during summer and wanted to do some songwriting but felt uncomfortable on my guitar, so Karl cleaned it up, lowered the action and changed the strings on the spot. Such a legend and I'm super grateful! Would highly recommend. All the staff were super friendly, with smiles and expertise in bucket loads. Thanks guys!

Bought my very first guitar from Beggs over a month ago, and as an absolute beginner the guys set me on the right path to the best fit for me for a great price. Went to Beggs to buy a tuner, walked out with a Martin D16E - Robbie is the man! His knowledge about the instruments was awesome and he made me very at ease, playing guitars I would normally never pick up because of the price. It all started with a conversation about about a 7000 dollar Martin I found myself playing within minutes.... Anyway great experience highly recommended!

Great experience shopping at Beggs. Had bought an electric acoustic online and it was lost in the post... No worries for these guys. Within minutes I was recommended a similar guitar and they hooked me up with one in store and I was on my merry way. I will be returning!

The customer service I experienced was EXCELLENT. A rare fault occurred with my sons speaker and the team at Beggs fixed the fault and replaced the lead and then couriered the speaker back to Blenheim. Really good bunch of people to deal with; they stock a bunch of effects which I've previously struggled to find in NZ as well. Will definitely use these guys again.

It continues to be wonderful experience dealing with Karl and the team at Beggs Music works. Firstly my banjo needed some expert attention. Head and intonation has improved markedly into a warm and consistent sound across the fretboard. With this success I brought my prized strat in from overseas storage (Mother's place). Pots were seized, rust on the bridge, you get the picture. It was sad to see. Karl stripped it down, cleaned all over, polished the frets, and did a fantastic set up. With Robbie, Karl fine tuned the action and with the new Elixir 10's gave a completely new feel. I commented that even considering after five years separated, I needed to relearn the guitar as it felt different and so much better. The team at Beggs innately knew what I needed done but also spent the time discussing what was going to happen. When I came round to pick up the strat, Karl went through each thing that he did, then he plugged it a very nice clean Fender Deluxe Reverb for hands on review. No fret buzz clean frets, easy pots, all the good things you want. I've been having a great time since learning this wonderful G&L strat again. I know it's a lengthy review but I feel it would be helpful for others to know how good and affordable Karl and the team are at Beggs Musicworks. Thanks everyone, see you soon with next one.

After visiting all three music stores in Nelson looking for a suitable guitar. We finally made our purchase here in Beggs Musicworks. They were extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They were quite happy to discuss all our questions and did were not pushy in any way. We would highly recommend them over their competitors as the service was far superior.

My daughter is starting to learn to play the guitar. We had a few issues with tuning her new guitar. No one in our family has ever played before so it was a bit of a learning curve with stretching in the strings. The staff were so helpful with everything. They helped us sort out all our problems, going above and beyond.

These guys are amazing and are a tireless example of why shopping on line just cant compete with a actual retail outlet like Beggs. Tim Babbage has saved my bacon more than once, at the last minute, just prior to a gig when you realise something isnt working or you have forgotten something vital...... Tim has been a legend thank you !!! I cant see Amazon or similar coming out and opening up the shop to get me a stand or a lead at 8.30 at night so you can go on stage in 15 minutes !!! Customer Service at its best !
