Great sized rooms. Pleasant helpful staff. Close to shops.

One night stay here at the Kingsgate Hotel, which is fantastically located alongside the river in the Grey CBD. Staff at Reception were very very friendly and attentive. Was given a room on the second floor, which had a few over the bars courtyard and the river. Bed was a tiny double, but was actually super comfortable, and I slept very well. The rooms were clean, but needed attention. Paint was missing, the window frames were full of mould, little things missing or broken. It adds up. It would not take much to make these rooms really really nice. All in all a good enough stay, for a good enough price. Had breakfast which was included, it was average, but it did the job. One note was parking. It was a nightmare. The few parks around the hotel were full, and the gated compound down the street was full too. Ended up having to park on the street. Will probably stay again if the price was right.

Stayed here in Jun 2014. Small little hotel, not the luxurious and high-end place you would expect, but it has all you would need. However, the walls were extremely thin when I was there.. you could hear something at night if you are lucky or unlucky :D

Great location. 100 meters to the station. Cafes and bars also within a couple of minutes walk. Monteiths bar and brewery about 10 minutes easy walk distance. Rooms are comfortable, clean and well appointed. Front of house staff were great Friendly and helpful and the check in was quick and easy.

Right beside the grey river in town near shops and restaurants. Nice new bathroom but strangely no extract fan. Nice toasty warm room comfy bed. Doors looking a bit tatty need fixing or painting. Nice big tv. Refurbished room like lighting on top of bedhead. Free cooked breakfast with room $155. Disappointed our room didn't face river but still had quite good views of town and Upper River and Bridge.

Excellent. Great room - very comfortable, modern, large. Very much enjoyed the large tv! Enjoyed the view of the Grey River. Delicious dinner. All the staff were friendly, helpful and very pleasant. A stand out member of staff was Brian who was in the restaurant during my dinner. Would be happy to stay here next time I'm in Greymouth

The room was quite dated but clean. A little too warm overnight (we visited at the end of winter). Bed was comfy and had a good sleep. Disappointed about the cold shower in the morning. Breakfast was great. Good selection in the buffet but the manager (?) in the restaurant was frantic so we felt rushed. Desk staff at checkout weren't terribly helpful or friendly. We were advised our bags could be kept at the railway station for free until we left Greymouth. This wasn't the case.

The room was very well set out for viewing the TV. Dining table and two chairs on one side, bed in the middle and couch on the other side of the bed. Cooked breakfast was lovely. Room was clean. WiFi reception great. Unfortunately restaurant not operating but very few people there during Covid times so understandable. Staff friendly....thanx, c u in Summer

Good honest hotel very comfortable room and bed. Struggling with Covid very quiet with modified facilities. Free breakfast delivered to rooms nice awesome flavoured Bacon but missing the pre Covid experience. So thankful that we kiwis can holiday in our own country with Covid rampant elsewhere. Nice view from 6th floor room. River view.

Hotel is just 5 minutes walk from Greymouth railway station and it is right in the center of the city. There is a big warehouse store nearby if anyone wants to go out for shopping. Rooms are very clean and spacious. I didn't try out the in house restaurant but there are very good restaurants nearby. The hotel staff members are very helpful.

The hotel is located just nearby the sea and a convenient 10-minutes walk from Monteith Brewery. There're a few parking slots in the building, however I didn't get lucky and had to park in a private parking 5-minutes walk from the hotel. The room is clean and functional, a bit old though. I was in the ground floor, and it can get a bit noisy. However, for a short stay in Greymouth it's convenient and nicely located.

Bit of an older hotel but the rooms have been renovated to a high standard. Very comfy bed. Staff are really lovely and very helpful.

Receptionist 'processed us' both check in and out,not at all welcoming or friendly although efficient. Room clean and tidy,bed comfy but dated.Dining room excelled, food and service excellent and maitre D was on top of his game,well done to them.The rest of the hotel would do well to match the dining experience.

The bar *** and the front of house lady were exceptional. Rooms were small and squashy. You know things are grim when you head downstairs to Reception to ask if you could get an upgrade to a Superior Room, and they inform you that you are already in a Superior Room. Good variety for breakfast. Car parking easy.

Dinner was above expectations compared to the rest of the facilities. My husband and I thought this was great value. We didn't eat here we found a little café just a short walk away. You could tell that this once was a lovely Hotel but time has hit it badly.

Good: restaurant and staff were awesome and pie was to die for. Kind of made it worth it. Not so cool: has WiFi but not wifi in all rooms. bad: just wee bit run down I reckon. Hotel reception were rather cold. Might have gone on a back day?

Our room was really dated, with lots of apparent pipes on the ceiling, old and clunky furniture, cheap shower, old neons as bed lights, and everything looked quite dark overall. However, helpful staff and good location, with good restaurant.

It was ok to stay for 1 night. But be sure you get a room in the main building to avoid disappointment. We had a spacious standard room on ground floor in a 2 floors building next to the main building. The bed was rather small. Old bathroom with a cracked sink. WiFi works only in the main building. Breakfast is not included. 23$ per person for bacon lovers and 17$ pp for vegetarian buffet. Personal is very friendly which is a big plus!

This place surprised me with how great the stay could have been. The staff were very friendly, the food in the restaurant was fantastic, and the room was very comfortable and quiet. Centrally located so easy to access every in and around town. Thanks!

Meh. OK. We stayed in the tower block and the room, while dated has been modernised particularly the bathroom. Clean and tidy. The beds are very soft but I had a good night's sleep. Nothing amazing here but nothing bad either. Non-ironed table clothes gave my wife a giggle. Can't say it bothered me.

I was getting away for a nice weekend an from the pictures on the net. Very clean room as was the bathroom. Our room was adequate whilst not over the top and we had a view over the town. The staff were so friendly and very helpful. The staff were lovely.

After an amazing trip on the Alpine train we were met by a courtesy vehicle at Greymouth station. We had the same price for each night as well as giving us a complimentary breakfast. Room was next to what sounded like hot water tanks and these created constant noise which disturbed my sleep considerably.

Aging, and it shows. Room had been updated and nice, but hotel is pretty old and I ate at the Monteiths Brewery rather than the hotel restaurant. Location is good however.

Decent place, room had a kettle and free tea/coffee with sugar sachets and milk pottles, electric blanket and extra wool blankets, mini fridge and actually hot water. The building is quite old, and perhaps it's a tad pricey but overall a comfortable stay and friendly service. Would recommend and stay again.

Average room with avgerage décor. Was a little disappointed as I had stayed with Kingsgate before in other locations and expected the same sort of room. Biggest bed we could get was a double and shower pressure was less than ideal. Ok little place to stay for one night, but I wouldn't stay for more. Staff were friendly and place seemed quiet though.

Hotel is quite dated, its obvious that 10 years ago it would have been stunning. There is no secure car parking so its owner beware. I think that if you look around you will find a better option.

Not very nice recepctionist. Also the walls sre like paper. Wifi limit is 2gb for a day even if we are two people. Breakfast was good

Room is clean and staff is nice, but the room is too old they need a big renovation. Most importantly there’s no WiFi in the room. Guest have to be at lobby/reception to connect to the WiFi

Accommodation was clean and adequate. The layout of floors and rooms are very confusing (I was there for only one night) and would hate to try and get out of this building in an emergency......but maybe it is just me.

Ok place to stay for the price. Everything was dated, but staff were freindly and helpful. Restrant for dinner was fine, but didn't try breakfast as it was over priced. Close walk to Train Station.

The reception is very nice, the staff smiling and welcoming with a seating area and a bar back where we serve good cocktails. The room is ok with a small terrace overlooking the mouth and the sea. The bedding is good with 2 queen beds, a small table with armchairs bathroom tub small fridge with necessary for hot drinks. The dining room is spacious the breakfast buffet is ok. We recommend this hotel. (Original) Bel hôtel situé en bord d’embouchure de rivière très bien aménagé qui permet une belle promenade où l’on peut voir des pêcheurs à la lignes. La réception est très jolie, le personnel souriant et accueillant avec un coin salon et en arrière un bar où l’on sert de bons cocktails. La chambre est correcte avec une petite terrasse qui donne sur l’embouchure et la mer. La literie est bonne avec 2 grands lits, une petite table avec fauteuils salle de bains baignoire petit frigidaire avec nécessaire pour boissons chaudes. La salle de restauration est spacieuse le buffet du petit déjeuner est correct. Nous recommandons cet hôtel.

Incidentally, the ground floor is interesting, as the lobby, bar and restaurant were partly the wall and the decor of the old hotel from 1905 installed again, so it seems inside very different from the outside. The restaurant, or better the food there, is really top notch, very good food at bargain prices. Beds are a bit soft, but 2x Kingsize, and slept great. So I can definitely recommend the hotel. Oh yes, because here who wrote what because of too few parking lots, they have a huge parking lot but that's just 30m behind the hotel, so just keep an eye out for 😉. (Original) Erst mal das Negative, einen Stern Abzug für die sehr betagte Zimmerausstattung. Das Bad ist neu gemacht worden, aber das Zimmer selbst und der Balkon machen einen alten, abgenutzten Eindruck und die Wände bräuchten auch mal wieder frische Farbe. Ein paar Bilder an der Wand würden schon eine Menge ausmachen. Das war es aber auch schon, ansonsten haben wir uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt. Es ist sauber, das Personal ist sehr nett. Das Erdgeschoss ist übrigens interessant, da wurde bei Lobby, Bar und Restaurant teilweise die Wand und die Einrichtung des alten Hotel von 1905 wieder verbaut, daher wirkt es drinnen ganz anders als von außen. Das Restaurant, oder besser das Essen da, ist wirklich erstklassig, sehr gutes Essen zu noch günstigen Preisen. Betten sind etwas weich, dafür 2x Kingsize, und haben trotzdem super geschlafen. Also ich kann das Hotel auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen. Ach ja, weil hier wer was schrieb wegen zu wenig Parkplätze n, die haben einen riesen Parkplatz aber der ist halt 30m hinterm Hotel, also einfach Augen auf 😉.

Everything is very shabby and rundown, a new painting would be urgently due. A picture or two on the wall would certainly work wonders. I was a little dissatisfied with the restaurant. The food was absolutely fine, but I was served something different than I had ordered. When I pointed out that I had ordered something else, they wanted to blame me for the mistake and claimed that I ordered the delivery. Instead of letting the delivered and more expensive court go back, I still accepted it so it would not be thrown away. Ultimately, I was then the court that I had not ordered and still accepted, charged at the full, higher price. I had expected to see at least only the price of the dishes actually ordered on the bill. (Original) Die Zimmer waren sehr geräumig und es war alles an Annehmlichkeiten da, was man realistischerweise erhoffen kann. Sogar einen kleinen Balkon gab am Zimmer. Trotzdem fühlt man sich hier nicht so richtig wohl. Alles ist sehr abgewohnt und heruntergekommen, ein neuer Anstrich wäre dringend fällig. Ein Bild oder zwei an der Wand würden sicher auch Wunder wirken. Ich war etwas unzufrieden mit den Restaurant. Das Essen war zwar absolut in Ordnung, allerdings wurde mir etwas anderes serviert, als ich bestellt hatte. Als ich darauf aufmerksam gemacht habe, dass ich etwas anderes bestellt hatte, wollte man mir den Fehler in der Schuhe schieben und hat behauptet, ich hätte das Gelieferte bestellt. Statt das gelieferte und auch teurere Gericht zurück gehen zu lassen, habe ich es trotzdem akzeptiert, damit es nicht weggeworfen wird. Letztlich hat man mir dann das Gericht, das ich nicht bestellt und trotzdem akzeptiert hatte, zum vollen, höheren Preis berechnet. Ich hatte erwartet, zumindest nur den Preis des tatsächlich bestellten Gerichte auf der Rechnung zu sehen.

自驾经過投宿一晚所以要求不高，订双人床房，房間小不能呆，好在外面空間大，有長河堤走走，又有超市和百貨商店，進去時酒店餐廳还沒开，附近有几間餐館選了間唐餐館，一般般。

価格はリーズナブルでコストパフォーマンスもとっても良く感じられます。ロケーションは問題なかった。清潔感があり、快適でした。
