Reviews of Snowplanet
Z.
Winter Wonderland is great for kids, but needs more powdery snow. It was mostly ice and super slippery. It's great if you just want to toboggan or sled down the slopes but you can't really have a snow fight as there isn't enough snow to play with. Other than that it's a great place for a family outing!
W.
Enjoyed the 1 hour Family Pass at Winter Wonderland. Booking is essential during the current Covid environment. Get there early and give yourself plenty of time to get any hire gear and get changed. The kids and us adults really enjoyed the tobogganing and tubing. It's a good introduction to the snow and ice
J.
Great experience being in the snow as always. Make sure to get there 30min before to allow time to get dressed.
The temp is -22 and lots of ice that makes slipping frequent.
Now if they just had rock climbing on the outside walls.....
N.
we went here for our sons 6th birthday. The booking online/packages were a bit confusing. I had to FB message them to clarify what they all meant. When we arrive the sign in area was all good but then when we got the area to get our equipment its a bit of a mess. That process could be better. Once inside though it was a good experience for the family, had we know that parents could enter without getting all the gear we would have done that instead. The highlight was the restaurant inside where we can eat and watch the people skiiing down the slope. Will go again for sure
T.
Great place for some family fun. Didn't ski or snowboard, just tubing and sledding but so much fun. Cafe pricey, understandably though.
A.
Great indoor snow area. Booked three lessons for 2 adults and for 4yo daughter. Due to long weekend traffic we arrived right On Time causing our lessons to be shorten. We only had time for 15min out of 1hr lessons. As it was a Saturday the location was quite busy. Staff was friendly and instructors were helpful. Booked an another follow up session for my daughter and will arrive way before the session time.
J.
First time there, tried the Winter Wonderland and tubing for an hour. Family of 4, 8 year old and 14 year old... We had a great time.
Not to cold but some type of gloves and boots recommended.
S.
Awesome experience for kids. Team were great and helpful. Would definitely recommend
Tube ride was so much fun.
L.
We held our Social Club event here on Saturday. Our group of about 30 did the skiing and/or snowboarding and then a 3 course dinner in the restaurant. It was a fantastic event, we had rave reviews from all our members. The food was really really good and was served in a timely manner and no mix ups which is pretty good for a group of that size. Very impressed and we will do this even again!!
D.
Loved it! Such a beautiful experience we've had, never been to a snowy place before and having experienced this winter wonderland is simply one of the most exciting fun moments for my family. Highly recommend!
T.
Our restaurant experience was fantastic. Dawn is the most amazing hostess. The pizzas are beautiful. It was disappointing to be told we couldn't go on snow for 2 hours. That is a long wait for a 2 year old. But when we got into the Winter Wonderland we had a fantastic time. So many little adventures for the little ones and done absolutely beautifully. The facilities were fresh and new and well maintained. I would definitely recommend Snowplanet to friends but warn them that they need to book ahead.
S.
Took twenty four (11-13 year old) students for a Winter Wonderland Snow Fun. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was the students' first experience on snow - tubing, sledding and just playing and having snow fights. Did the rental combo and the staff were efficient and organised.
Best an hour and a half experience.
Pukekohe North School will be back again :)
T.
The place is great for beginners and professionals as they have a small slope and a very steep one and jumps in the side if you feel adventurous. All the gear can be rented out at the place but if you got your own you can bring it. If you have booked a time, would recommend getting their a bit early to get suited up.
M.
Such a cool place, and the coach l had was fantastic! I was blown away with the price so reasonable. Can’t wait to go back😊
R.
Greatest snow resort in Great Auckland.
-5C inside, but feels colder.
Not the best place for small kids. But elders and grownups can find this place extremely wonderful.
There are 3 routs for tubing, snowscating and skiing that doesn't require the pass. Trainers elevator is free to use.
All the equipment you can rent in place.
B.
It is a bit pricey to enter and hire gear (almost the same price as the mountain) but they have deals with cheap entry and hireage. Friendly and helpful staff to help you find the right sized gear. You are allowed to bring and use your own gear. The snow is very ice but it is a nice place to learn how to ride.
Facilities are quite nice. Two pommel lifts on either end that takes you to the top. There's also a magic carpet for the beginners area. One side was for riding while the other was a terrain park with jumps, rails and boxes.
Edit: They have added a winter wonderland area for toboggan and tubing. It takes about a quarter of the ice area near the bottom.
S.
My kid love it and never wanted to come home. It was their very first experience on the snow sledding. Helmet is must! Bit danger without it as theres icy environment for the kids if they fall. I would definitely come back for the sledding and skiing !!
J.
Had my boys birthday party. From the beginning until the end staff there ensured we were looked after. Special thanks to shaliah. Lucy and Dawn. Accommodated last min requests like there’s nothing to worry about. Really appreciate the party room you have given us !
A.
Such a fun place to visit! Booked a ski lesson, the instructor was really great and helpful and all the staff were great. The pizzas at the cafe were yum too. Can’t wait to come back
P.
Your only snow option in Auckland! Located not far off the Northern motorway at Silverdale. Full rental option with lessons etc. There is a bar and cafe on site with big windows to watch the snow action from a warm comfortable spot. Obviously being indoors the ski area is a little limited but a perfect learning environment. You are guaranteed good weather too!!
J.
Excellent place to go for all ages, 2 of my children aged 13 and 6 learnt to snowboard 🏂 and my daughter 8 and myself learnt to ski 🎿. First time we have every tried it. We all ended up going down together by the time we left. We will Definitely be back. We made memories that will last a lifetime. Fantastic place for food or beverage watching family ski or simply take time out.
Sit by the Fireplace or relax at a table doing so.
A.
Kids had a lot of fun on the ski. Parents enjoying quiet moments in the cafe. Wonderful setup... looked safe and professional.
L.
School holidays so very busy. Great happy atmosphere. The instructors are young ,clever and and made sure all the kids were watched. Amazed how quickly novices learnt
s.
Good place if you want to learn, we went around 8pm definitely a good time not that busy and more cheaper than day time.
B.
Super friendly and helpful staff. Very knowledgeable too. I highly recommend you look at getting some intro lessons if you have not been out to ski or snowboard before.
Also, recommend you take gloves, a helmet if possible, warm clothes etc. Otherwise you will have to rest it all there and the costs add up. Look for deals where gear hire is included in a day pass. FYI Check to see if helmets are included in your deal. If you have kids not keen/too young to be on the main slope, there is a fun kiddy slope they play on (seperate pass required).
We had a fun time there.
J.
Our company came over to have a gathering for our home based service families, the party room was enough to fit 10 groups of families and the snow field had a winter wonderland theme which allow the families to meet Santa(booking). Lovely Christmas displays and wasn’t busy during the weekdays. One cons, there is no sink area to wash fruits and things, so I went to the kitchen for help. Would be good if party room have a sink.
I.
Fantastic place! Both adults and children can learn to ski or snowboard here. The food is great, there are plenty of activities to choose from, and it's a great place to ski all year round.
A.
The idea to have an indoor facility is awesome. In terms of to get there is so convenient, so close. However, they have to look after all their equipment and facilities which is an issues there. PleAse make sure when you rent anything from Snowplanet that you check it before you start snowboarding or skiing. 3 stars of 5 for the lack of good quality equipment. P.s the restaurant was nice 👍
Y.
After reconditioned, it’s a really good place to go now, not only for the hard level, but also for beginners. Feeling fun and chill last night over there.
L.
We found we lost our cell phone in the tube in Winter Wonderland, until we were home. There is no PIN and no sim card in the phone. The phone is very important for us. It is super crowded today in Easter long weekend. But It's our luck day, we got it back at the front desk. MANY THANKS for all the staff in SnowPlanet and thanks to the guy who returns it to the staff.❤️ We don't know how to express our appreciation, hope everyone have great time there. ❤️
V.
Classic day to have a Birthday Party when it's 28°C outside. Good fun for the kids. Outstanding Customer Service. Mens toilet needs new light bulbs btw :)
A.
Great place.
Not the best for small kids , but wonderful for elders and grownups.
M.
The kids loved the Winter Wonderland and the staff was great! Our family truly enjoyed so we are coming back for more.
D.
Awesome place. Sometimes not enough staff to operate both lifts makes the place over crowded and long lines at the lift. Nice food and bar.
The pizza and curly fries are amazing. School holiday program is very good.
S.
Had loads of fun here one night with my work mate, the food was good, as well as good quality wine and coffee. The staff was friendly and helpful and facilities are good. Great place for learning to ski and get good training
S.
I arranged our company's annual Christmas party (2017) at Snowplanet and we were all blown away by the food, the atmosphere and great service. Many of us had never been there before and were impressed with the activities, gear, friendly staff and whole experience. We would recommend this to anyone and everyone. We had the buffet and it was just amazing. Each and every person had a great time, thank you to everyone at Snowplanet!
J.
Just absolutely loved the experience of this place. Been there for the first time and staff was so friendly and caring.
T.
It's alright! Pretty short fetch though, narrow too. More suitable for kids.
R.
Good fun for the kids and good way to learn before going to the snow. Did get quite crowded at times but, staff were all super friendly and helpful. Keep an eye out for grab one deals to as can get expensive.
R.
We bought a pass for skiing and snowboarding for 2 hours, with the rental equipment and clothing; so it was a bit expensive. We had a great time despite the crowd. If it's your first time, it will take a while to get into the boots and clothing. You can either pay for lockers to leave your belongings or just leave them in the changing area. If you're planning to get into skiing or snowboarding properly, I suggest you bring a jacket, pant, helmet and a snowboard or skiies, so that you don't have to pay for the rental equipment. You also have options to go tubing, and just play around in the snow in Winter Wonderland.
H.
Our students ranged from year 1 to year 4. All students were happy to participate in all of the activities. A lot of our students had already visited the Snow Planet/
C.
Very expensive but well laid out. Good cafe area and plenty of gear for hiring. Warm clothes can also be rented.
The slope is not very long or challenging but it’s a good way to entertain the kids when it’s horrid weather.
j.
Great day out!
Partners first time at the snow! Now hooked will be back to make some more tracks!
Super convenient being in close to city
A.
Took our early childcare group for some fun. OK prices but safety signage could be clearer. BYO helmets, boots and gear if you have them but able to hire if you don't have any. Recommend 1 to 1 supervision for under 5 Yr olds. Wonderland can be quite icy in places, you can book set times for your exclusive use but social distancing is your responsibility. Good clean toilets and changing areas. Cafe is warm for those who don't want to get cold. We had plenty of fun and would still go again.
R.
We have kids of all ages and abilities and they all fit in and play at snowplanet, they started with Snow tubing and quickly progressed to skis. They are looking to start snowboarding soon. Great restaurant also plus loads of parking.
L.
Great place for a birthday party, Snow Planet did all the food, lollie cups, decorations and cake. Kids had a great time on the snow getting 1 hour lesson then 1 hour of play. Great day!
S.
Snowplanet is great fun! The snow is very hard, not like real proper snow so if you fall it's not always that great. There's something for everyone, they offer free wifi while you're there. Non snowboarding/skiing visitors can enter the actual snow dome as well, just remember to dress warm as I think it's about -5 degrees inside the dome.
The food was great at the restaurant.
They also have a shop area where you can purchase snow items. I absolutely love the drinking bottles they sell!
R.
So much fun in the winter wonderland
P.
Great ride at reduced price thanks to Grabone. Good range of food and drinks with a view.
L.
Snow planet is a great place to cool down if you and the family are feeling the heat .... staff are ok but somewhere along the way a few smiles would be nice.
W.
Friendly staff on entire and it was So nICE AND cold in there not to crowd and the pretty young blonde at tpo of the lifts had a great smile and very helpful to the young newbie and kids that her parents should be proud tha raised her right witch made my experience worth my while
L.
22 junior students from Otahuhu College received funding from Snow Planet to attend Winter Wonderland. Thank you for the opportunity. For 20 of these students it was their first time seeing snow
M.
Don't forget your gloves, its a chilly winter inside snowplanet. Awesome for kids of all ages, my 2 year old loved tubing! Bigger kids loved everything. We didn't ski or snowboard this time round, winter wonderland held our attention, then inside to the dining area for a hot cup of chocky & lunch to warm up. Loved it!!! Highly recommend for all ages
S.
Feels a bit enclosed compared to a mountain environment, but otherwise great service and decent ski run. Winter wonderland tubing was a hit with the toddlers!
J.
I go here every Saturday and love it. Great place to learn and get practice for the winter time.
D.
Great venue for kids birthday parties! Bit disappointed that we paid for the room to be decorated and walked into nothing in the room and no one had bothered looking into it. Also a bit of confusion with food menu not being confirmed (although this had been done by us), a bit of panic but resolved eventually. On the flip side staff are friendly and they are very flexible with booking amendments in comparison to other places-and the snow is super fun!! Few things that I'm sure can be improved.
N.
Heaps of fun, and a great way to give the kids a taste of skiing without going to the expense of going to - and staying at - the real thing.
Friendly and helpful staff (aside from one that didn't seem to understand what I thought was a pretty plain question).
Not exactly cheap (and the prices at the restaurant were eye watering) but overall a very cool experience.
M.
10 yr old birthday celebration with a lesson for 4. Everyone was friendly and helpful, kids had a ball. We'll be back!
L.
Back at Snow Planet Last week end for a work social club event and had a great time on the snow. Lovely eating area with warm fire and good bar. The good was great. Ski and Snow Board instructors are excellent. But book early they are at a premium. Keen to try the toboggan run next time.
J.
Excellent place to practice sky and snowboard, everyone in there are really nice.
S.
The best fun. More so now there are areas to do tubing. Lots of smiles had by all. Cant wait to go again soon. Food and drinks in the cafe soooo expensive.
J.
Average service- Not enough staff to serve at reception or the bar, and a couple of the staff weren't very friendly and didn't smile much. Did not have enough hire equipment, had to settle for snowboard boots and pants that were slightly too small for me. Did enjoy the slope when I got on it though.
l.
Had a great time with the kids at the winter wonder land experience. Staff super friendly and helpful. Only negative was the cafe was so over crowded with many tables just having bags and no people so we didn't even get a chance to eat.
R.
We took two groups of year 7 & 8 students to Snowplanet for beginner lessons. It was the BEST field trip I have ever been on in many, many years of teaching. It was well worth the money and time. Highly recommended.
S.
Awesome place to enjoy with family 😍my son absolutely loved it.
D.
Unique experience of an indoor ski field which the kids and adults alike really loved. When it came to getting the gear which is costly to hire it stopped just short of being a circus. Great time had but couldn't go back due to the poor organization of gear fitting.
C.
Enthusiastic, caring, supportive instructors and staff, everyone really patient, food and drinks excellent
G.
Always a great place to take the kids for fun or to learn how to ski
V.
Kids loved their lesson will be back
c.
Lovely place, fully equipped and very attentive and helpful staff. We went there for a children's party. Well organised and the food was delicious, and the kids voted it the best party ever! A very popular place so the crowds were a bit much at times. Staff were friendly and helpful
R.
My family and I went to Snowplanet on the 26th of June at 16:00 for 2 hours. We had been looking forward to this for ages! And we were all very excited.
When we had all our gear on and were heading out to the snow area there was a “lift” place to the right that would take you to the top of the ski hall and another “lift” place to the left and in the middle was a winter wonderland that just had a belt.
We had no idea that the lift on the right was advanced as there were no clear signs or indication of what these lifts were generally for, apparently the advanced lift you had to take if you had skied or been on the snow before as you had to take the lift all the way to the top and were not able to get off.
A staff member came over to us and directed us to go to the left lift place as that’s for beginners. As we went there we were told that we were not allowed to use it as it was for a ski race. The only other option was the ski belt that didn’t even take us half way up the ski hall. I had both skied and snowboarded before but I’m not advanced, I tried the right lift and fell off twice so therefore I had to use the belt which was about only a 3rd way up the ski hall.
For paying $128 to not be able to go entirely to the top of the ski hall was a bit of a blow. I would hope that in future we’d be able to have notification for those who book the tickets ahead of time that one lift would be not useable.. and then be able to make a decision if we could push our time back or change the dates of the tickets.
But yeah, other than that, my family and I still had a good time and I’m hoping that the next time I return the other lift will be available for everyone to use.
J.
Good staff. Always helpful.
Great fun
M.
Awesome place, could have a larger play section for the kiddies who just want to play in the snow but a beautiful place
M.
Kids love cooling off here in summer and learning to ski for winter fun. It is a great physical skill for coordination, balance and strength.
G.
We were so happy that our Team 5 trip to SnowPlanet was able to go ahead in these uncertain times. Everyone at SnowPlanet was very obliging in making this event happen. The children really enjoyed the experience of learning to ski or snowboard. Thank you to the events staff and instructors for going the extra mile to make our trip a success.
T.
Great fun, we did about an 45 mins of tubing before my 5 year old was worn out. Great atmosphere in the cafe that views the snow.
A.
Cool place to get cold. Make sure you have a waterproof glove, great price for family. Easy renting clothes, so much fun with the tubing with kids.
R.
I come here all the time since I have a membership. It gives so many people a oppurtunity to ski or snowboard in all seasons. And plus the cafe food is really good.
T.
Great place to learn to ski, although the process to book lessons over the phone is a bit annoying, taking multiple attempts to get through and having to resort to leaving a message and waiting a couple of days for a callback.
N.
An awesome day to spend on the slope. A lesson with an instructor for the kids was well worth the price - gave them the confidence and the basic skills to continue on their own.
Some tips.
Early arrival is a must. Be there 9:30 for 10:00 opening to avoid the queues and to make sure they have enough gear. By midday on busy days all the most popular sizes are gone.
A bit more signage and explanations about where to store the gear when not in use, would be helpful. Beware that any gear placed on the bags at the bottom of the slope is collected by the staff and reused for new customers. Apparently the right place to keep your gear is inside, in any of the racks by the benches.
Tubing in skiing boots is forbidden. If you want to take a break from skiing and just go down in a tube - gotta change boots first.
The restaurant was a bit of a let down. The staff are evidently ran off their feet because tables don't get cleaned for a while, and there's cutlery and napkins missing on the tables. Keep an eye on how crowded it is, because by lunchtime you'll struggle to get a table. Also, avoid chicken fajita - the chicken was really dry, and the DIY fajitas don't quite work.
B.
We decided to have our 5 years old girl party here. Great fun! Kids simply love it. Certainly a bit, memories that will last! Food was good, and staff friendly. Recommend.
M.
Didn't go skiing or boarding.just had hot chocolate.Hot chocolate was great.
E.
Great place to learn and practice snowboarding and skiing. Lounge area also is very good and comfy! Staff is very kind and the tracks are good to practice. My only concern is sometimes you can get a very old and used boot (if you rent), and past 20min you foot is freezing with cold water inside. They need to change some old equipment.
C.
Surprised there were no staff at all in Winter Wonderland and had to find our own way round to find equipment and what tracks we were allowed to use. Luckily we worked it out. Didn't realise that the snow there wasn't pristine white and only a small cover over icy base so lots of slipping over. The junior sled run was very bumpy and needed someone to keep things moving. Otherwise a good time by all.
M.
We took a school group recently (intermediate) and the students who mostly had little or no experience had a great time learning with the helpful staff. Those with more experience also got tips from an instructor and largely looked after themselves.
S.
We recently held a Torpedo7 Staff Training Day and Club Member customer evening at Snowplanet in conjunction with our key suppliers.....both events went off, loads of fun and plenty of smiley faces. Team at Snowplanet are super friendly and super easy to work with. Highly recommend!
J.
Great afternoon out with me and my son. Staff members were extremely patient with both of us and provided us a good grounding for hitting the slopes!
M.
Good place to practice skiing or just tubing if you can't make it to a mountain.
A.
Loved it
N.
Went to snowplanet today. Had plenty of fun, friendly staff, great customer service and delicious food. I had lessons there before COVID and it’s good to be back! The instructors are really nice. I had a bit of issue with the card and gate but that was soon solved. It also got busy at night, but that’s unavoidable. I would recommend to friends and family. Hope to come back soon!
N.
Brilliant! I had lunch there. A little bit dearer but I got to watch people playing in the snow and our group got an opportunity to step onto the snow and have a photo taken. Some people were complaining about how expensive it was to take the grandkids ski ing but where else can you do that in Auckland!
A.
Great facilities and awesome slope, especially so close to Auckland. Wasn't very busy on a Monday arvo so great time.
H.
We had such fun and the viewing area/cafe' is absolutely comfortable....
k.
Fun and nicely set and maintained. I want to specially mention that I had issues booking and the staff was very helpful on the phone and then when I arrived I payed for the wrong booking (first time there I was not familiar with the options) and when they noticed they told me and patiently redid my booking and refunded me the extra money I had paid. Thanks for that!
S.
Awesome place to go.
Loved every minute of it
I.
Good for people who are good at snowboarding and skiing.
A bit expensive.
D.
Great place for a pre season warm up.
Too improve reduce the space the winter wonderland takes up, few people use it relative to skiers and snowboarders on the hill. The area reduces the amount of features and ski space, in an already small space
T.
Wonderful Memorable Experience for all, Great staff. Can get quite full in the dining area so it pays to pre-book a table and expect a queue when ordering food during busy period.
N.
Great place for family fun if don’t want to go up the mountain. Highly recommended. If you are after lessons, I would recommend 1 instructor to 2 student to get maximum benefit. Our group was too large and the instructors were not able to look after everyone
V.
First time visit, second time snowboarding, the place was actually pretty busy as it was Friday night. Staff was great, easy check in, and I had so much fun. Definitely recommended if you're a beginner, I will surely come back.
D.
Our team had a great time and were well looked after by the staff. I'd recommend Snowplanet for team events or just having a night out to celebrate an achievement.
K.
Super fun!Love this place
D.
Wow! The Winter Wonderland and Santa was exceptional this year! Love the whole experience. The skiing itself is an outstanding experience and we absolutely love going. Perfect for kids- there is a nursery slope area for novices and plenty of space for those with experience. Patient and experienced tutors are available to coach you if you want. Heaps of fun, could not recommend more highly. Also check out the restaurant after for a great, reasonably priced meal.
S.
Keeping in mind the limitations of space and how they have to manage it, I think they do a pretty good job. Also a good selection of ski food. My only outright complaint is that the parking is too narrow for alot of vehicles, making it hard to open doors
A.
Best place in town to spend a Friday night
A.
Great experience for those unfamiliar with the snow. The lounge serves hot food and beverages with a look out to the slope. Freezing cold inside, wear multiple layers of clothing.
K.
Good place for children's party at summer time.
N.
Good for snowboarding and the Christmas events and setups they do are really cool
S.
We went for winter wonderland and expected to walk in and be able to go straight on the tobbogans and tube rides, but spent the first 5mins wondering where the tobbogans and tubes were. We weren't the only one to have to ask, after walking up to the top of the runs and finding nothing there.
On our first tobbogan run we ended up hitting and knocking off the foam barrier at the bottom, so it didn't exactly feel 100% safe. Still, we had fun.
I thought I'd be wowed, but was not. Kinda felt a bit dark and dreary. Still fun though.
M.
Great fun. The instructors we got dor private lessons were amazing, friendly and patient. The staff were all super helpful. Would recommend a lesson if its your first time, the first time package was great and just what i needed to feel comfortable. Wrap up warm because it is cold and waterproof clothing is a good idea. Would recommend to anyone thinking about skiing or snowboarding
S.
Went for the Christmas Wonderland. It was a great night out. They have done a good job with tubing tracks, Santa, and a little village. Food was amazing. $21 for Chicken and mushrooms pasta and tasted great! Awesome night out for sure. Would encourage anyone who loves Christmas or those with small kids.
T.
We went to a birthday party here yesterday and they made everything very easy. The kids had a blast and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Will be buying a pass for my kids for their Christmas present.
We also do the Christmas experience here witb Santa and LOVE it. It's so special for the kids and Santa is lovely to the children.
P.
We had a ball. Well not a ball, but a great time on skis (no balls involved unless you count the ones I needed to have my first go from the top).
Our experience couldn't have been better. The process of renting gear was easy, and the field was great. It was my first time skiing and what an easy way to start.
Once we had finished skiing it was on to the good in the restaurant. Equally great and an easy way to relax and warm up.
A.
We took 7 of our grand children, aged from 5 to 11. They had a ball. It was a school day so probably wasn't as busy as it could be.
The snow was in good condition and the lifties were very patient.
Hire gear was pretty good condition.
I bought our passes on grabone so it was a very cheap days entertainment.
S.
Our team from Modtec opted for our end of year Christmas Dinner here, a group of 27 people we opted for the Christmas Buffet and set ourselves up with a bar tab. The team at Snow Planet made it easy and were very accommodating to our needs. Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and the food of which there was plenty. Would definitely return.

This place is great. I was a spectator this visit and the viewing lounge is perfect for this. Warm by the fire and a nice place to drink coffee and watch. The parking is adequate and entrance is spacious and easy to navigate. I went during the school holiday time and was not intimidated by the volume of people there. The ski area accommodated the volume of people too. I enjoyed the night and will return......maybe to try the snow too.
M.
Good time spent there with children. As always the sport is expensive but they do spend a long time on the snow. School holidays was a bit hectic with classes going on but didn't spoil the experience
L.
İ come here for my son's practice and i stay here more then 2 hours every week. its a nice resort for learning and practicing. Instructors and stuffs are nice and friendly. Its a nice viewing area in the cafe.
Only bad comment there is no WiFi and network coverage. There is a free WiFi in there but so week i never able to conect.
A.
Nice helpful staff super fun time. Look forward to returning.
K.
The only one place for indoor skiing and boarding in Auckland. Recommended!
L.
My first time ever snowboarding or skiing. Had a great time! Good practice for our upcoming Queenstown ski break 🏂🏽
P.
Great value for money, staff are helpful and friendly. Pack dry clothes for kid's. We were a party of ten, we didn't wait long for a table. Food is expensive but taste good. 2pm sessions are packed, we went on at 4pm, glad we did.
S.
Excellent place. Rental gears are expensive
F.
Fun day at the Winter Wonderland. Winter Wonderland very festive. Plenty of tubes for everyone. Sledges also available for those a little nervous to go tubing.
Cafe was super busy and took over 45 minutes to get drinks we ordered, but place was mobbed at the time we ordered so staff were over run with orders and clearing tables.
M.
Excellent activity for all ages! Our school trip off approximately 25 children learnt how to ski and snowboard within an hour!! The instructor was great and the kids were very confident and proud of themselves. Wonderful 👍😁👏
M.
The place to be on a very hot summer day! Children had amazing time. But just a tad pricey
S.
Had a first timer lesson package. My instructor "Minni" was really great giving clear instructions, giving good feedback and checking my confidence before we progressed with the training. I had a really great hour on the slope after and the coffee and Brownie were good too, and not as pricey as I would have expected. I will definitely be back.
R.
We attended with our U15 Rugby League team, and they had a blast! Most had never been to the snow let alone skied / snowboard. It didn't take them long to learn on their own.
Great Place, Great Atmosphere, Awesome Service. I feel the group pricing is quite reasonable too. I'm planning on having my sons 10th Birthday here in Feb 2020.
M.
Had a great experience. Didnt do the skiing cos we couldnt get lesson (majority of our group have never skied before). We did the Tubes and we had fun. A bit pricey but the experience was awesome.
T.
So much fun and reasonable pricing
A.
Awesome indoor location for all skeeing/ snowboarding needs.
J.
Loved it!! Fantastic experience. Highly recommended
r.
Love skiing the lack of restaurant tables due to people.dumping gear and hitting the slopes is frustrating
S.
Great place for children to have fun.
Learn skiing in a controlled environment.
Nice staff, could have done with few more crew members on the slopes.
Good dining.
B.
Came here for a team building event, booked for 15 people, only 12 showed up. The staff were super flexible, organizing a ski lesson last minute and letting us move the remaining balance over to a bar tab. The food was excellent and the slopes were a blast. Everyone had a great time.
T.
I feel they were under staffed today. Took ages at the clothes rental, the children with special needs needed more help but with not having enough staff that couldn't happen, the food took a long time as it was super busy at lunch time... the kids had a good time tho but werent sure what to do with the second hour after their lesson...
J.
I took my OED class. The instructors worked with my class for an hour teaching them the basics of skiing and providing some team building activities. Students then had 3 hours free ski or snowboard. We all had a great time and will definitely look to return next year.
C.
Great snow fun for the kids but the coffee there really needs improvement especially at the high price charged. Watery and unpleasant taste every time so won't buy there again. Maybe time to change supplier or get barista training.
e.
Great day out with the kids. Staff were very helpful. Our kids first time skiing and snow boarding. It was a great experience for them. We were able to hire all the gear we needed so no worries about bringing your own
J.
Such a cool place to have in Auckland, the kids loved going there for tubing, and then to try skiing. It can get really cold so you need to go well covered as if you were at the mountain, minus the sun! Great cafe and an awesome place to celebrate kids parties!
S.
Great experience at Snowplanet. Staff were very helpful and the service at the Café was top notch. The volume of people on the slopes varied constantly but everyone respected each other and allowed plenty of space to have fun.
P.
Took my year 5 & 6 students there on Thursday, and what a great experience! The lady at the front desk was kind and caring, the instructors were AWESOME, and the burger meals were just delicious and well priced. Thanks Snow Planet; we'll be back for sure :-)
C.
My kids loved this place. Food was excellent and I met some wonderful Instructors here.
Liam has great technical skills , my 8 year old improves a lot just one lesson with him.
Harry is fantastic with the little kid and an excellent communicator, my 4 year old son absolute adores him and saying that he makes skiing so much fun.
C.
Awesome place to learn how to snowboard or ski. Was my first time there and there was a lot of people there doing all sorts of tricks from the top. Was fun to watch. I stayed in the learning area and was nervous but saw there were others also trying to learn on their own which was a good experience. Awesome facilities. Changing room area is good. Restaurant area is lovely with a beautiful view of all the snow action.
A.
My family had alot of fun when we were here. Food was amazing loved it. Customer service was awesome. It was a tad frustrating when it came time to go get our gear as there was a huge line to get our boots n snow board. Due to that we legit ended up only getting 15 minutes with the instructor .. when we finally got the hang of it we enjoyed ourselves. It was overall good.
B.
Awesome day out with the family. Too much fun to be had, especially around Christmas time! It's often pretty busy though and it can take a while to get out on the slope but once there, the frustrations are forgotten.
A.
Was so amazing to see both Faith and Charlotte working here. They so looked after our kids during all those school holiday programs. It's 1030am on Saturday and my son is loving it. Not too busy, getting about six runs an hour...
H.
Recommended for people new to skiing/snowboarding because of a easy slope. One small jump and box. Other than that there isn’t much else if you are a intermediate-expert skier/boarder. We did in fact spend 10 hours there in one day so you can definitely have your money’s worth of fun in the off season.
n.
Fabulous facility to learn at before hitting the slopes at the mountain. Also, good for getting up to speed before the mountain season starts or for those wanting to improve. Instructors are knowledgeable and provide value at all levels. They can even teach you tricks in the slopestyle park. And if you don’t do Snowsports there’s tubing or sledding. All staff are courteous and want to ensure that a good time is had.
Father Christmas in winter wonderland is magical.
Truely a world class facility right there in Silverdale. Can’t wait to go back.
K.
Snells Beach School would like to say a HUGE thank you to Debbie and the team at Snow Planet for accommodating our Year 6 students yesterday!
Debbie was super supportive from the first email/phone call, helping to organise a fun day for our students who had missed out on their camp to Tongariro, not once - but twice, this year.
Everything was easy - the kids were well organised and well looked after by the instructors, the food was catered for well with a super selection for the children, and a fun time was had by all.
The children especially enjoyed the Winter Wonderland hour at the end of the day.
Highly recommend for any school groups.
Thanks again.
E.
Great value and super easy to organise a small team building event. We all had a blast. Thanks to Debbie for co-ordinating and John and Brad for the lesson. Couldn't have asked for any more.
S.
Always a great time, great prices with the night rides and grab one deals they do. Love going as you always get a good amount of runs and feel like a day well spent after
T.
Came here with our early learning centre. Friendly, helpful staff. Tobbogans and boots provided for all kids and adults and plenty of time to enjoy the slopes. Would highly recommend for all age groups. We visited on a weekday so quiet. Thanks snow planet for a great outing! We'll be back
S.
Long lines at the cafe, not enough staff working here. Still a nice place for the kids.
J.
A great family outing to visit. Try this it's exciting. You learn very slowly but it's worth it. Dress warm, n such fun. I'm a learner so the tyre was good enough for me. Then a hot latte goes well in their restaurant or hot snack for the kids. A must to visit for the family.
F.
Good place to every one, who like cold and skiing/ snowboarding. Great fun for individuals or families. You can rent gear and equipment from Snowplanet too, so don't have to worry about that much. They also have a good cafe to eat and have some drinks before/after your snow session.
P.
As a regular snowboarder who lives a long drive from the closest snow mountain I really appreciate this place. Whilst I have my own gear I have rented from here before and they have a huge range of Snowboards, Skis, Clothing, Helmets etc etc. Everything you could possibly need is located here. Great restaurant food for those who are watching. Beginner areas for those who are not so experienced and then a large slope for those who are more confident. Check the website for regular deals on pricing too. Great place for family, friends and kids.
A.
I took 120 students to Snow Planet over 4 visits. 90% of the students had not been to the snow or snow planet before. this provided them with an extremely special and affordable learning experience. They were given lessons either snowboarding or skiing and were able to build their confidence in the skill at their next visit. The staff their were awesome, they were patient, had good systems in place, a huge range of gear available and were flexible with last minute changes we made and students hiring gear. We would definitely go again.
R.
This is a good options for learning to ski all year round. My daughter had some lessons and the instructor was great. The cafe serves tasty food but is quite expensive and takes a very long time to be served. Overall a very enjoyable place to visit.
T.
Amazing place, helpful staff and the instructor I got was really nice. The attention from a 1 on 1 lesson is especially good. Also, there was no hassle with anything from the equipment and clothing hire to booking a locker. I'd recommend it to anyone. It's not cheap though but you get what you pay for.
L.
Went to Snowplanet where we had bought a voucher for a meal for four people at The Chalet and had booked after lockdown, it hasn't reopened and they don't seem to know when it will, so we ate at snowplanet cafe. What a great experience it was, eating and watching people using the ski slopes. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Thoroughly recommend this place to anyone who would like a different experience. Thank you SP
S.
Snowplanet was great. Nice area to sit and watch. We went during the school holidays to watch my husband's nice and nephew. I thought that maybe there could have been at least 2 staff members up the top of the mountain to help those who are less confident (but willing to give it a go) get down the hill.
D.
Decent. Conditions are consistent from week to week and course changes keep things interesting. I only go when I like the park otherwise no. Good place for beginners. Restaurant is very expensive so bring lunch.
S.
Really busy on a Friday night after work of course but had an awesome time skiing for the first time! 😊 would recommend giving it a go.
C.
Our group of 17 people had our end of year break up here and we absolutely loved it!! It was a first time experience for all of us so we did the snow tubing activity on top of Xmas dinner buffet which was private and amazing.. We highly recommend Snow planet for group bookings and the staff there are amazing, Sam at receptionist and Debbie who I dealt with for bookings. Thank you Snow planet for an amazing experience , I will definitely be bringing the kids next time. Char
D.
Wow, is this place expensive... especially if you don't own any gear and have to hire it. Yet, we still had a great experience. Took our little ones out there for the day and they absolutely loved it. The cafe gave us the same feeling as we had when we were at Coronet Peak. Reduce your pricing especially for little ones and you'll have a lot more locals over weekends and school holidays. Never the less a fun family experience!
N.
Our Sports Academy class did the one hour lesson at Snowplanet. The instructors were all really helpful with organising the gear and catered to all students ability levels out on the snow. The students had an awesome time!
J.
Most of the staff are amazing, but there are a few that are VERY rude and nasty. The holiday programme kids were all over the slope, which made it hard to ski/snowboard. I managed to dodge a holiday programme kid, but the leader of the kids group had a go at me for 'bowling him over' even though I didn't knock him over. She told me to get lessons, when we pay to come here when the whole point of snowplanet is to ski/snowboard!? We pay to come here, just like all the holiday progranne kids. They need to have a dedicated area for these kids so that everyone can enjoy sbowplanet.
A.
its real fun learning and getting a few lines in but nothing beats the slopes, and the prices are not too bad to ski it self but dayum yall cafe prices ridiculous
F.
Absolutely great experience to ski or snowboard down the indoor slope. Very delicious restaurant to satisfy your hunger no matter what time of day. Staff here are soooo helpful and friendly and truly look after you. It's a must do and fully recommended! At Christmas time Santa also arrives for all ages half way up the slope amongst the snow with photographs available. Well done team!
W.
The kids love this place, however there are a few issues, firstly there is hardly any space to get changed only in the public toilets , perhaps they could invest in changing rooms. in busy times it can take a long time to get your snowboard as they seem to only put one person on and there isn't a lot of people around to help newbies to figure it out .
The cafe is disgusting there are cockroaches everywhere and the foods is over priced and bland, also they don't clear the tables very often and you are forced to sit with dirty plates.
Also certain people hog the tables all day spreading their things everywhere even when they are not there stopping others from being able to use the tables,.
it is quite a Mickey mouse operation and not at all world class, but the kids do love to snowboard so i guess being in Auckland this is the only option
P.
We went to Snowplanet for our social club and these guys were amazing. We turned up and everything was sorted. We had a reserved table and the food arrived not long after we sat down. the meal was perfect. we would recommend Snowplanet to anyone. we will be back. Thanks Team.
C.
We went in as a group of 24 the youngest being 4 and the oldest 67. Everyone had a great day. Staff were fantastic all around and for the snow adventurers there was an activity for everyone while the less adventurous sat in the cafe and watched through the window. A great family day.
P.
Our group of Recycled Teenagers (Whangaparaoa Ten Pin) had the most amazing Christmas end of year Luncheon at Snowplanet on Friday 17th November. With a group of 23 we were seated in the separate Chalet with the meal served just outside on Buffet tables. The Winter Wonderland decorations inside and out on the snow, helped make a special atmosphere. The meal was fabulous and generous. Dawn, our hostess on the day was very attentive and efficient. We will definitely be hoping to return for our function again in 2021
N.
THE BEST SANTA EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! So much fun and "santa" was great very attentive and interactive. We ALL thoroughly enjoyed it! Would definitely do it again! THANKS SANTA!!!!!
A.
Great place to go when learning to ski or when you want to get some off season fitness. Staff are helpful but it can take time to get hire equipment. There is a limited number of runs, so not a great place to go to too often. There is a bar and cafe with big windows that overlook the skiing.
S.
I took a friend for dinner and tubing here last week. It's a nice facility with great staff but the tubing itself is sadly a bit dull considering the short track. It's more of a novelty than a thrill and it may get boring quite quickly for most people. I found the food was delicious, however my friend found the steak too salty and the curly fries overdone. I'm glad I only paid for 1 hour of tubing, it was fun but we struggled to stretch it out for longer than 45 minutes.
W.
Took our work boys there for Christmas do. We all had a great time.
Awesome facilities and something to do thats positive and doesn't require alcohol for work functions.
F.
Great place to start snowboarding or improve your skills.
J.
We really enjoy this place. It's an activity that can be enjoyed for the whole family. Go online and view the discounted deals on certain nights like Thursdays and Sunday's to get some good value for your money. Staff are very informed friendly and helpful. My daughter of 12 can't wait to go back and my sister of 28 is pushing to go as soon as possible.
J.
Perfect indoor snow for learning on, with a small park area to practice park tricks
T.
Real fun experience! One of the few places to ski or snowboard in Auckland!
l.
Great reception team unfortunately found the rest of the staff unfriendly and somewhat rude right from equipment hire to staff on the slop. As this my husband and 10year old nephews first time i was very disappointed to see the staff member on the beginner slop resting on the machine having a afternoon snooze! There was no help from staff or instructions given which made it a very expensive average experience for all!
S.
Good place for a Christmas party, lots of options to do with the ability to use jackets/gloves and all there. Skiing and snowboarding was great, but the end of where the tubing was could be slightly bigger and even padded due to the force some people hit it. Otherwise place was clean and friendly, the restaurant was lovely and the buffet was nice. Prices just slightly high so be prepared
B.
Went up for the winter wonder land and Santa visit. Kids thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We have been going for the last few years and Snowplanet have excelled this year. Had a meal in the restaurant after and again much better service and quality than previously experienced.
A.
Our Year 5/6 students had 2x 2 hour sessions and has an absolute blast. To see the kids on the Tuesday struggling and wanting to give up to then watch them racing down the slopes on the Friday not wanting to leave was just awesome to see! Thank you to all the team at Snowplanet for making this experience memorable!
x.
Awesome place for learning how to ski/snowboard. Little overpriced but wasn't a biggy. Would advise arriving early as it is a tourist attraction. Overall great experience.
K.
We had lots of fun, however it is really pricey to hire all the gear, even with a 2 for 1 voucher. There was a race on, which we were not aware of, and didn't see anything on the website. The staff member at the front did not give us details. They ended up closing off half the slope and the restaurant was packed.
C.
Went on Monday the 11th of Jan. because of winter wonderland area to finish is so small and then they held school holiday programme in the finish area so was dangerous. Food in Cafe was absolutely amazing so good that’s worth just going to snowplanet for
E.
Excellent programme for Year 6s. Great instructors - patient, knowledgable. Gear available for hire - helmet, gloves, skis, snowboards. You can use your own gear too. The food is also highly recommended - the school lunch is great value of school trips.
S.
Great place for Birthday 🎂🥳party for kids
T.
We had our mid winter Xmas function at Snowplanet and it was amazing! From start to finish, the team could not do enough for us. The food was really yummy and very reasonable. The atmosphere is lovely and the snow play/activities was awesome too. I would highly recommend Snowplanet for corporate functions or just for families wanting some fun and good food.
D.
What a wonderful place to enjoy 2 or 4 hours on fun on a real ski slope. The staff are great and a special thanks to Michael who looked after us so well. The apres ski cafe/bar is also a cool place to hang out. Highly recommended and good value too.
G.
Team building was awesome everyone enjoyed a lot.
The staff was lovely and very helpful.
The activities + lunch were a 10/10.
Thanks for all your efforts in putting this up together.
Cheers!
Gina
R.
Lovely Cafe with great food and roaring fires. Don't ski etc but it looked like people were having fun on the slopes. Well worth a visit!
J.
For competent riders the run is short, but that's what you get at an indoor slope. Jumps and rails are great quality but could do with more constant grooming at busy times. Great for what it is and there's usually good deals online and at certain times. It's kept at constant -2 to -4 so rug up.
C.
We were a big group and we had an amazing time, Everyone enjoyed them self and the service was excellent
F.
Great day at Snow Planet with very friendly and extremely helpful instructors. Coaching them, monitoring their progress and skill on the snow and also by not handing out chair lift passes unless you were happy with their progress, you kept all our kids safe. Thanks for this. See you again in 2019. It was awesome.
M.
It's cold, and awesome. Get to learn how to snowboard and enjoy a nice meal at the restaurant. Good way to spend the day. Definitely not the cheapest option, so maybe wait u til they have a special, or if you have snowboard/ skiing gear.
C.
Fun place for a date, great bar/restaurant for when you need a little break. Nice clean facility. Definitely a beginners slope but fun for a warm up if you ski a lot too.
N.
We took 50 year 9 students to Snow Planet and had so much fun. Staff and instructors friendly, welcoming and accommodating of the many demands a big group poses. Thank you for looking after us all, we had a fun time
S.
A wonderful experience for our students and the staff always go the extra mile to give you the best experience.
W.
Awesome place to visit, great way to get yourself ready for the ski fields. If you have a family check out any deals going and give it a go. Great area for kids called winter wonderland.👍🏻😁
A.
We came in at an inconvenient time. They were in the middle of fixing a portion of the slopes so we didn't get a chance to try out their facilities after havin drove a bit. Having said that, that's not on them. It was just a case of wrong timing. Even so, after having seen the place, it wasn't that enticing to look at, for someone who doesn't ski or snowboard that is. A bit too small and bare in my opinion. That's all. Personal preference. On the other hand, their cafe/bar/restaurant and lobby were cozy.
M.
Fun experience, especially for New Zealanders, where snow is a rarity. That being said, it can't really compare to some places overseas (but very little in New Zealand can). Reasonable prices, if a little pricey (the cafe is especially expensive). I got stuck on the conveyor belt going up a few times, which was quite terrifying. However, staff were quick to help. Good place for beginners.
O.
Our school really enjoyed our visit to Snow planet. We highly recommend the lesson if you have never skiied or snowboard before.
The facilities are beautiful and the cafe/restaurant is very accommodating. Most of the staff we encountered were wonderful and very helpful, however, there was one staff member that was very rude to our staff and students by disregarding them when assistance was needed or very sarcastic in her responses when asking for assistance or inquirying as it was some our students first time. A part from her short shift on the lift we had a pleasant experience and would do it again.
B.
Awesome way to practice on the snow without having to drive all the way down to the mountain.
Day pass and gear hire will set you back around $100.
Nice restaurant and bar to chill and warm up
S.
Great!!! Fun with kids all afternoon...
It's a place to go.
P.
Went tobogganing with the kids. Was a bit of a wait to be served, but they added on time to compensate. Kids (5 and 7) had a blast! Would recommend two pairs of socks and gloves are a must!
D.
For our department's team day we spent two hours at Snowplanet for their Snow Games package. Given that we are a team of 12 people, it is not easy to please everyone but we all had an absolute blast. The staff were really helpful and made our experience memorable. Thank you!
L.
Snow planet is really fun. Its a great environment to learn skiing and snowboarding. Anf its really close to auckland. Its relatively affordable. The skiing and boarding are good. They have a few trick boxes that are slidy. Its a great place to go with your friends or as a place to take a date. They have a restaurant there as well that's equipt with a bar. This place is great also for kids to ski with their families.
g.
Cool facility especially being so far from actual snow. Clean with friendly staff
M.
Our experience with your company, with your staff, Everything from booking ( Debbie) and checking in ( Nicole) was grea. Very efficient staff, Already looking at the next trip. The deals that we got through group bookings made it all affordable and well worth the money. Cheers Reg Rouse
K.
My reviews off this place keep CHANGING, and it is really a mixed bag on how you experience it. I Had lessons there and the staff have been great, front desk great... But unfortunately I and my friends have find the hire dept staff are always rude when busy or near going home time.
There a good offer on at the moment for pass and hire late night. But the place is sooo busy, it runs out of gear and the line for the lift is bad..
Original Review 2018- "Awful staff in the hire area which really let the place down. Staff at reception and bar are good" two stars.
Had a response from the team at snow planet, (Lucy) they seem generally concerned about the bad customer service we experienced. Lucy kindly gave my wife a free pass and ski hire for day.
So went back six months later... Reception staff were really welcoming. being the weekend it was really busy with children parties, groups and families. But the staff managed to cope really well with the high demand and were on top form.
I do think its a tad expensive (but suppose they have got a giant freezer to keep cool), there lots of good offers on grabone and bookme.
Will visit again, and Lucy certainly made up for our original bad encounter.
a.
We had our Christmas work do snow tubing, got some awesome photos and videos. Heaps of memories were made. Extremely easy to book and no hassles on arrival with a group of 17. Worth going!
M.
Update to the update!: Friday's visit was equally as awesome as our previous ones; such lovely, helpful front of house staff 😊
Update: Our kura, Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu, visit every year; wonderfully patient and friendly staff from booking to departure; our ākonga always have an amazing experience.
Great time; super friendly, helpful and understanding staff - we'll be back!

At Snowplanet , one of Auckland’s top attractions, you’ll find over 8,000 square metres of the real thing. So you’ve got heaps of room for skiing, snowboarding, snowtubing and games.
It’s the perfect weekend activity or school holiday idea.
We’re open late with night-time activities for teenagers and young adults – and with the terrain park changing every week, there’s no shortage of fresh challenges for skiers and snowboarders.
After you’ve worn the kids out with all that fun in the snow, you can relax and recharge your batteries in the comfy restaurant (complete with large brick fireplace and views of the snowy slopes).
Never skied before? Not a problem.
We run ski lessons with skilled instructors to get you going. There are after-school and school holiday programmes too. Plus we have race and freestyle programmes for those of you who want to take snow sports a tad more seriously.
G.
Helpful and friendly staff, organised. Nice restaurant with tasty food and excellent coffee. Children very happy. Will definitely visit again.
D.
Our two kids have just finished the 10-week Rippers & Riders course and they loved it, a lot of the credit has to go to their instructor Luke who was absolutely fantastic with the kids and our youngest (only 4 & 1/2) in particular. For a young guy he showed awesome patience and encouragement which meant that the young ones experienced the most important thing - fun - in spades. Nevertheless, their learning curve between lessons 7 and 10 was impressive.
7 Summits (the bar/restaurant) definitely needs to invest in a 2nd till at or near their service area.
It's a very popular venue and generally a good experience.
G.
I leaned to snowboard here, and my wife ski. The instructors are friendly and patient, and the facilities are awesome.
Good food and drinks, ideal for taking a break and recharging your batteries before launching back down the slope.
E.
A great place to enjoy all the fun of skiing and snowboarding all year around. They also have a dedicated inner tube slope. And when you're done, a giant fireplace to sit next to and warm back up.
S.
For an indoor slope this had plenty to offer. Spur of the moment thing and could have saved a heap by taking my own gear ( I rolled up in shorts and a t shirt ). However rental aside ( that was my mistake ) we were kitted up quickly and the four hours we paid for was over all too soon. Save some cash and show up with a helmet and warm clothing and just hire boots and skis ( although they are happy for you to take all your own gear and just sell you the lift passes ). The lessons also looked reasonable and from what I saw the class size was small (2 or 3 people per instructor ).
B.
Obviously for an indoor facility there are quite short runs, but the snow is excellent, staff helpful and a good cafe where you can relax wiht a coffee or a beer after (or during) skiing. My daughter also did school lessons there and the instructors are excellent - really helpful and helped her improve her technique.
C.
The kids had holiday ski lessons, they had a great time and it was very reasonable priced, definitely recommend it for the kids, I might get a family annual pass as it looks fun
G.
BAB group of 40 people had a 3 course xmas lunch. great meal, was very well set up, staff were very helpful.Great place to have xmas break up.
40 people were pleased with everything.
P.
Great team, sharp pricing and park features changed up often enough to keep things entertaining.
J.
Amazing experience!
Its a good place to learn how to ski before actually skiing out in real snow!
Its actually fun to learn new things with mates!
Enjoyed it!
Absolutely would go again!😁
S.
2.5 stars
The winter wonderland has been the fall of this place, large portion of the field is taken up by building prefabs you cant go inside and fake trees. Barely even seen anyone in the winter wonderland.
first the construction meant not many other shapers to make jumps etc. but there hasnt been a big proper jump since the construction.
J.
Great place. But really busy, needs more tables. Nice food and great helpful staff
J.
Our family enjoyed 4hrs skiing non stop, was worth the fee for the memories, highly reccomend
R.
Great staff when you need help :) fun and enjoyed our time.
D.
Great experience. Rental equipment fit well and lifties were super friendly.
R.
We had our work Christmas function here, was an awesome day enjoyed by everyone and the food was amazing and there was so much of it. Highly recommended if you are looking for a fun filled Christmas function that will be enjoyed by everyone from littlies to the older generation!
E.
I visited Snowplanet in early 2017 and I honestly had so much fun! It felt so realistic and I loved the little 'lift' mechanism on both sides of the space. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I would definitely go back next time I'm in Auckland!
D.
Grandsons are taking part in school holiday program- but there are way too many people on the slope for safe skiing.
M.
We took our South Auckland Holiday Programme to Snowplanet to experience Snow Tubing and all the children had a great time. Staff very helpful and they gave the children gloves to borrow and were very welcoming. Highly recommend Snowplanet!
A.
We had our company Xmas due at snowplanet this year . Had an awesome day in the snow and surprisingly good food in the bistro. The staff was super friendly. All around a great place.
P.
Great place. If you are learning to ski or snowboard, start here first. Cheaper than going to the slopes and closer if you live in Auckland. Being indoors means you don't have to worry about weather, and if you get cold just pop out of the slopes to warm up.
J.
It's great once you've got past the rental process. Rental process was snow, disorganised and staff were not engaged.
A.
The snow is great, to be honest I've always had a great experience with the reception staff, and friends seem to never have issues with rental equipment.
The restaurant however... It seems to be on a steady decline, staff seem like they don't love working there, service is sometimes sporadic at the best, it also seems very overpriced.
S.
Best place for winter fun in Auckland
K.
First time we have been. Very friendly helpful staff who were very accomodating to us both wanting to share the snow experience with 5 year old while the other was with baby in the cafe. Nice and clean facilities as well.
C.
Service could be better.
Lots of young staff members who don't care about service. Queued in line for some boots for my daughter. She received some and while we were at the counter the guy walked off the job. The fit wasn't right so we waited for someone to come to serve us and they took the person behind us and not us in the front!
No measurement of skis against her to see if they were the right length. No asking us of our weight to change the DIN. So in the event of a crash would the skis then stay on?? Not a great experience for newbies. Fortunately I've skied for years so knew what to look for for my children but the team at Snow Planet don't care. Management need to give them all a rev up and put some customer service plans in place to retain customers.
M.
Activities for all ages from pre school to Adult.
With a licensed cafe with a warm atmosphere and wide views if the piste.
L.
Great tutors here. Definitely worth booking a lesson if you are new to skiing.
Update as of dec 31st. The xmas wonderland grotto feature is apparently permanent. It takes up a massive lower slope area funneling all skiers into a narrow channel. Dangerous for beginners and school groups. Not great.
M.
A really "cool" (lol) place for all. Options for skiing, snowboarding and tubing. Went there for a school trip and all the kids gave skiing or snowboarding (some for the first time!!) a go and had a ball! Instructors were really thorough and were really good to work with. Reasonably priced and equipment and clothing can be hired.
C.
The advertising is misleading , they do not mention in any of their deals about the charge of 5$ for the pass even though you get four dollars of that refunded at the end off your visit , they could possibly say that the pass costs one dollar? When I tried to call for some information I had no answer after five calls later I got through to the restaurant. Apart from those two things we had a great time and really enjoyed it.
k.
Absolutely fantastic place to go! Been there a few times and it's been great every time. Had the misfortune of hurting myself there and I can say that even their first aid is top notch. Highly recommend this place for all ages of fun!
F.
Took my 2year old & we had a good time on the snow tubes. Good snow. Ok for organisation in a sense of keeping the kids area sectioned well enough away from skiers as they come down the slope(the kids exiting the tubes section is right where skiers are ending their run), they sectioned it off after about a hour of it open freely.
Foods ok. I also understand customer service has its days and not everyone is perfect. But customer service in the cafe by wait staff (a male of which we had), could of done with a smile instead of making us feel like we annoyed then into doing their job whet toddler broke a cup. I get it (my daughter broke a cup), but whenever someone broke something in my store I would never look at them the way he looked at us 🤦🏽♀️. I’m just saying as constructive criticism is all. Customer service takes a business a long way when done right 😉😊
R.
My outdoor education class had a great time. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend for kids and beginning skiers or boarders.
R.
Great place to hang out if you like the cold and snow! You can snowboard, ski, toboggan or go tubing. The food is expensive though. $12 for a small bowl of kumara chips.
R.
we had the most awesome time at Snowplanet last week! It is a fantastic deal for our students, (the schools have a go one) most of whom haven’t seen snow and would never afford to go to Snowplanet normally. 2 hours is perfect for them as a taster, and many managed to get a stage where they could use the skis or the board with some skill thanks to your incredible instructors who not only delayed our lesson due to our bus flat tyre making us late, but also stayed with the kids the whole 2 hours and were amazingly supportive. I was horrified to see a bunch of my students lined up for the platter lift and zoomed down to shoo them all away, only to find the instructors were deliberately taking them up ½ way – this was so impressive. They did the same thing with the 2nd afternoon group.
I insisted on paying for 4 students who refused to participate or were injured and asked the lovely, helpful woman on reception to get these fees to the staff as a tip or beers or something. I hope she managed to do so as they were totally fabulous managing to cajole grumpy teenagers. I can’t believe the majority stayed on the snow the whole 2 hours, usually only a few left by then.
So thanks heaps from Rutherford College and we hope to be back next year!
C.
We brought 100 children for a 2 hour snow fun. Thanks for the organisation and helpful attitude towards our learners. The children were thrilled with this experience. A first time in the snow for most of them.
A.
7 summit 3D dining experience- this os amazing and the food is out of this world- a must experience!omly one in the aouthern hemisphere
h.
Amazing place to go to of you don't have access to the mountains and relatively close to Auckland. Good variety of ramps and rails and for the people who do not skii or snowboard, you can go tobogganing in a donut down a slope, the restaurant is good and the foods being good aswell, they also have super-esized foods
S.
Snow Planet is an awesome place to have a company event. Lot's of different activities for everyone and a well run restaurant areas with great food and drinks. The Staff are very friendly and helpful, highly recommended for corporate events. Special thanks to Lucy who looked after us for the day.
R.
Nice wee place to enjoy snow time.
T.
Snowplanet was very fun with very friendly staff. The food there is great and i must admit that their Pizzas are fantastic, although quite expensive. I would highly recommend Snowplanet for a fast family activity.
E.
We did the snow tubing. You just need to be careful as some parts are slippery.
T.
We enjoyed lots of fun in the snow to celebrate a family white Christmas. This was followed by a delightful Christmas meal together. Snowplanet staff were fantastic right from the original organisation through to their help on the day. They went the extra mile to make sure that Nana(92) was comfortable right through to providing colouring pencils for the littlies. The food was great too.....
B.
I can understand that working on Saturday night is not really something that someone looks forward to, but staff working on the lifts were not friendly at all and kindda make you feel uncomfortable. Plus wash rooms were smelly and dirty.
N.
Good place for the kids to learn the basics before progressing to the mountain, especially with all this weather.
V.
Awesome place. Our Xmas function was organized smoothly. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The restaurant is so cozy place, food is delicious. Thank you, guys!
P.
The kids love the snowboarding, but during holidays & on public holidays the ques are way to long to get up the slope because they tend to only run 1 of the 2 ski lifts. The last public holiday my boys managed to get about 3 rides in before they were fed up even though they spent about 3 hours there. We complained after the 2nd hour & the 2 ski lift was switched on but by then our boys didn't really feel like continuing.
G.
Excellent fun! Big slope, some fun rails and jumps (if that's your thing) and rubber ring rides for kids and adults. It's -5°C in there though, so wrap up warm
K.
Snowplanet was a great venue for our business meeting. The room had all we needed and the catering was of a very high standard. The booking process was simple and all went right on the day.
Having a chance to blow off some steam after lunch by partaking in Snow Games and Tubing was awesome, a great way to break up the day and so much fun - even those who didn't participate in the games had fun (laughing at the rest of us from the comfort of the restaurant :)
The team even went the extra mile for us when we realised we'd left behind our flipchart notes, retrieving them from the bin the next morning!
R.
Kids love this place. We had a birthday party here and they really looked after us - would definitely recommend them for kids birthday parties as they think of everything and do a great job. Really nice friendly staff to deal with too.
B.
It's a shame that price's are so high. If you wanted to take a family, it's just so expensive. Otherwise great place to go
A.
Awesome place 11/10
R.
Best place to be on a weekend. The only thing is that they don't pick up their phone. I called multiple times throughout the day and no answer.
B.
Writing on behalf of Onepoto Primary
School. This was an outstanding experience for our Year 6 students as an end of year reward. They had never touched snow let along skied so the excitement level was high, the poor kids could not comprehend how cold it was going to be, so were a bit shocked the first day, the second day brought more layers. Snowplanet staff were excellent with the amazing training they gave the students and all but one student was able to ski confidently at the end of the first day. The second day saw our students going higher and skiing with more confidence. Definitely a place we will go again. Thank you for providing such an awesome experience for our Decile One students, they will never forget it,
J.
It's been years since I've been on skis, but this place brought back good memories of falling over and fun 😁
I arrived for a 2pm slide about in the middle of a school holiday and the gear hire area was utter chaos, gear eeevverryyywhere, but that was the only annoyance.
A.
Have been coming here for a few years, can be quite busy some evenings, but it's a great place to learn to ski or snowboard. There's usually special offers all year round, so don't be deterred by the cost
L.
We had our Team Building Day here and it was fabulous. The whole day from start to finish was well organised, everything we needed was supplied onsite and the team really enjoyed themselves. Many thanks!
E.
Had a great Santa experience, but the food experience afterwards was terrible. We ended up waiting 45 minutes for 3 hot chocolates and basic food.
A.
Kids would love it. Best place to learn skiing and snow boarding.Love it!
B.
What better place to have a group gathering for a Christmas celebration than here. The venue looked like a winter wonderland, the staff very friendly, and the 'build a buffet' was very tasty. Highly recommend.
P.
Apart from the snow, which is great, the best part is the restaurant, which is not your average 'fast food' type of place so commonly associated with significant tourist attractions, but has a great variety of freshly cooked plates, all at very reasonable prices. A great mid or post ski option.
R.
Although it was fun and has hills for beginners and more advanced skiiers/snow boards the staff wasn't nice and wasnt patient at all. My family and I didn't get any right size gear and got no poles for skiing and the place wasn't oganized.
L.
Great place to practice before you go on a proper ski slope! It is a rather short run but what do you expect when it’s indoors. There are jumps there and the seasoned experts are very patient with people giving the jumps a go. Go for it! It’s only snow, if you fall over it doesn’t hurt... it’s just cold! Don’t forget to take your warm weather gear!!
A.
staff are friendly and helpful, and this place is awesome! my daughter's never seen snow before so it's a great treat for us Aucklanders that don't get snow. prices are reasonable
J.
Awesome fun for kids and adults. Had a great time tubing with our family. -3°C inside, and 24°C and humid outside, beautiful start to our Christmas holiday!
O.
The overall experience at Snow Planet was great. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The corporate games were fun and great for time building. The restaurant food was excellent and very well organised!
L.
Great place to go even if you don't ski, nice place to eat and have a drink.
S.
It was excellent service every staff member had a smile, food was so good thank you to Isabella the ski instructor she was extremely patient.
A.
A bit pricey for 2 hours and not much guidance. Lovely staff and good food while kids play and enjoy the snow. Tubing was a nice add-on
R.
Rental area was pretty frustrating, with a 1yo, 4yo & first timers, maybe more staff would be better?
J.
We were there with a big group so the food was finger food specially for us. The food was amazing then we were offered hot drinks. Water and juice was on the table too.
J.
Yeah good hustle going on there, great to get some snow sports in during summer.
V.
A good experience can be had here, especially if you grab a deal via Groupon or grab one etc. The restaurant is quite good, lots of seating and a view of the slope. Plenty of parking onsite. Friendly service at the front counter and restaurant.
S.
Great for all of you snow sliders. For parents wanting to watch their kids, a great opportunity. Food and bar available. Ski & board rentals. The spot for year round snow sports and family environment.
T.
Val D'isere this is not, but I can drive here any day of the year, and ride on some real snow :-)
It's ideal to teach/learn, never has bad weather, and you can rent whatever you don't have (or don't want to bring)
One thing to note, the lift pass + board/skis combo does not include clothing etc & the rental prices quickly add up, so anything that you do bring, will lower the price.
D.
Was a really fun group experience. The food was pretty decent, the staff friendly and helpful, and had a blast with the snow tubes with a bunch of my colleagues
P.
Really well run place with lots of options to learn. Especially helpful teaching children.
Food is easy, fast and tasty with a good selection of drinks.
J.
Nice place to enjoy the snow. Just disappointed when we bought a santa photoshoot. Cost $12 per person which include 1 printed photo with santa and 1 snow tubing run. We bought 3 tickets for 3 of us ($36), but when we were about to get the photo, we were told we could only get one despite buying 3 tickets because we were a family. Ticket inclusions says 1 printed photo for $12 pp. Good on them for taking photo for 3 people at once, but giving ony 1 printed photo for the price of 3 individual tickets. We ended up buying their offer of $15 for usb to have the soft copy. Added/response: i think you mean by 1 pic per family as advertised is if we bought the combo ticket, but we bought the INDIVIDUAL/per person ticket $12 as I already stated.
s.
It was pretty fun I was there for a neighbors sisters daughters birthday with my two little brothers and stepdad
J.
The snow of course, the planet, the environment, the staff, as helpful as expected, the whole team just made the difference, the food, awesome as ever, get the pizzas, the onion rings, the beef a la plancha, hot rock, the best I ve ever had around the top of Auckland, top of the snotch, worth while, go, Don t hesitate, my daughter from tahiti has a blast on snowboard, didn't like it, but once the skis were on, looked like she done it or her life.....
R.
We took our older group of children from Buzz Club (Holiday Programme) to Snow Planet.
We had a fabulous time and the staff went over and above to accomodate us and make sure we were well looked after.
Highly recommend Snow Planet for a fun day out😉
K.
Great indoor experience. Ideal for someone just starting to learn how to ski or snow board. Close enough to Auckland to make a half day trip! Very fun!
H.
We held Dressage Waitemata AGM at Snow Planet with dinner first. Meals all arrived on time as pre ordered & staff were friendly & efficient. Meeting room was well set up and we were well catered for with seating, AV gear and water station. Thank you.
Only suggestion would be to have more bar staff to make getting drinks and paying for meal faster.
D.
A little small (you can go from top to botto in less than 30 seconds, and it's expensive during regular hours. But if you can get there for after 6pm, it's only $27, not a bad deal to get in a little practice before the season kicks off!
A.
Good for practice if you haven't been skiing for a while, but quickly gets a bit same same. Would recommend going as early as possible as it does get busy!
G.
We held our end of year staff function at Snowplanet. The staff are very accommodating and catered to our every need. I would highly recommend them. We had a blast!
J.
For those looking for a jib, imagine Hyland Hills with less features, that are smaller, and are built with dehydrated snow that makes them all fall just shy of being setup properly.
Worth the cheaper weekend nights but don't come expecting anything more than that.
V.
Fabulous place but all the gear hire staff carried an attitude - not helpful, no personable energy, maybe hungover as it was a Saturday am, sharpen up your act !!!
The front counter staff and instructors were exceptional.
S.
Overall the experience is positive. There are 2 activities: skiing and snow tubing. The covered area is not very big, they can introduce some more fun activities.
b.
Tried snowboarding for the first time and took the private lesson. The trainer was very friendly and had an amazing patience.
A.
It was lots of fun! But it’s a shame you have to pay for every little thing even with a day pass :(
J.
Perfect day out on the 'slopes', great to learn have fun or refresh after time away from the snow. Helpful staff making sure your visit is enjoyable.
B.
Great place to ski or board. Fantastic instructors and the jump park is always changing.
r.
It great but it's coooooooooold
A.
Tubing is lots of fun! It's good they have the conveyor belt to help you up the hill. I reckon You only need the 1 hour session
J.
My snowboarding 9 year old son did his first attempts at the button lift and the staff were really helpful.
R.
Nice place to visit once or twice a year specially if you are a fan of skiing. My son enjoyed the wonderland.
G.
So much fun food came our fast in the cafe and the skiing was amazing
B.
A bit pricey. But it would be expensive to keep running, so fair enough. Always busy after hours. Best to try time your adventure to fit in with quieter times to enjoy course with less pressure.
L.
Great place to learn to ski or snowboard.Staff are friendly and helpful. The cafe however, seriously let's you down. Service is extremely slow.
L.
We had a great time doing the snow games for a team building activity, the instructors were great and very friendly. The bar staff and restaurant were fantastic, great service and food.
S.
My team went there for team building recently. They have friendly staff, nice food and most importantly we had a lot of fun.
L.
Very cool indoor experience, especially on a weekday with no crowds!
M.
Awesome experience. First timers and found staff and equipment first-class. Definitely a must when back in Auckland area. Recommended with confidence.
N.
Great 'indoor' fun. Nice place to eat and drink after a couple of hours skiing. Instructors are helpful and provide great training.
L.
Lovely staff and great experience. Restaurant is also good quality. Healthy platter option for kids also!
R.
Makes skiing accessible all year round. Grab their many deals and got in for a few hour to hone you skills. easy to get to, no hassle gear rental
L.
Awesome place, great to do some snowboarding practice.
C.
Always a great day out. Awesome place to lock down those tricks you want to try and progress before hitn the mountian in the winter.
H.
Our staff event at Snowplanet was great fun, thanks guys. The boys enjoyed the activities, the girls enjoyed watching & laughing at the boys. Your staff were friendly and helpful.
P.
Great times had at Snowplanet. We took the kids there for some tubing and they had a blast. Bonus was the cafe for the grown ups, great food and atmosphere!
N.
Winter Wonderland was a great bit of fun for the kids, and a unique experience in the middle of summer!
E.
Flew over the net barrier skiing.
Hit myself in the face with the lift.
Great place 10/10
C.
We had my birthday gathering there. The scale is okay but the staffs are super kind and friendly! Enjoyed heaps and thank you!
C.
Good for begginners like me, wonderful for kids and lovely for families ❣️
E.
Good place good coaching
t.
Very enjoyable place to visit with the whole whanau. However after receiving abrasions to feet, I would reccomend to wear socks in the provided ski boots
K.
Bni Christmas do was awesome
M.
Great place for family activities, kids lessons are run well. Staff are helpful and overall pretty good experience so far.
P.
Being an avid Snow Boarder now and absolutely love the mountains this place is a great kick start to learning the ropes to ski or snow board for kids and adults, thanks for the handy location in Auckland.
D.
great place lots of room. first aid guy is o.t.t apart from him excellent experience.
D.
Great spot to muck around with the kids on the tubes for an hour or so, pick a quiet time and it's great fun, gear all available to hire if you don't have snow gear
D.
Only used winter wonderland. Needs to be clear in the area that only tobogan is allowed in the entry fee. Maybe a fence to separate the tubing area would help. Would go back again but probably not in a great hurry.
J.
I like Snowplanet, but we went on a night with cheap tickets. One of the lifts was shut and the queues were pretty bad. Still a cool place but just pay full price and go when no one else is there.
I.
Love this place. Good food and really friendly staff. Only problem I have is trying to explain what table I am sat in. Why not number them or give out order numbers to save me having to explain.
S.
Really well set up. Good for frequent users with their own gear. Can become really pricy if you have to hire their gear.
L.
Snowplanet was a great venue for our work mid winter xmas function. Staff were attentive, the food was great and everyone enjoyed the slopes.
M.
Never snow boarded in our lives and had a great day!. Our trainer Steven was awesome and really made it worth while.
L.
Awesome memories of snowboarding for the first time! We went during school holidays which didn't help. Too many kids around. Loved it other than that.
