A wide and tasteful range of sunglasses and yet the service still outshone them. The team delivered an outstanding service. They were attentive but not pushy, they clearly had great knowledge of the products and gave great suggestions. Then, when we discovered that the sunglasses we'd purchased had a design flaw they swiftly handled an exchange with the supplier while going above and beyond to keeping the customer in mind. An excellent experience from start to finish. Thank you Ocula Wanaka

I've been meaning to write this for sometime. So put the jug on and brace yourself for a review of biblical proportions. A little over A year ago I booked myself into Ocula for my annual check up. I was diagnosed short sighted 23 years ago & have family history of Macular Degeneration/Glaucoma, because of this my eye health is something that I am quite fastidious to keep track of. Over the past 23 years I have visited MANY different eye care specialists, and have had a mixed bag of consultations/diagnosis and aftercare help. I can say (without a shadow of a doubt) that this company is the most professional, informative and down right excellent service I have ever had. My consultation with Danielle was conducted with upmost professionalism, In the check up I asked her many questions that I had been intrigued about for years, she explain the answers clearly and taught me a lot, particularly in regards to how we treat myopia and how much that has has changed even within the last decade. This information is absolutely invaluable to me. I explained at the time that I was interested in getting Lasik surgery at some point to correct my eyesight, at this point Danielle asked me some questions as to why I was so interested in this procedure, she explained the limitations you can be faced with after Lasik, and the risks/failures that she herself has seen come through the doors over her career. She suggested that I look into the Orthokeratology treatment that Ocular provides at the store before making the jump to Lasik. This moment has literally changed my life for ever and I cannot thank Danielle enough for stopping and taking her time to explain the pros and cons in regards to both treatments. After being booked in with Michael an assessment was done to see if I would be an appropriate candidate for the treatment, and to explain in more detail how the procedure works. Again this was done with complete professionalism, patience and clarity, and at no point did I feel pressured to go ahead with the treatment, even after my assessment. It has now been a little over a year since I first started on my Ortho-K journey. In that time I have had regular check ups with Michael/Tarryn, I am always seen to promptly, I have never once felt rushed or my consultation to feel breezed through, and no matter which member of staff deals with me they always greet me with pleasantries. Kirsty and the showroom team are a fantastic, bubbly unit, who are ever on hand if I should need new solution top ups or to have a check up booked in. You can really see that the owners take great care in their business, the clinic is clean, easy to navigate and displayed beautifully. And I really don't think you'll find to many optometrists that are this up to date tech wise, certainly anywhere in the country. Thank you Ocular, thank you for changing the way I live my life. This year has been a year of firsts for me. I haven't worn glasses in all this time, and not only that I have: Swam in Sea's, River's and the Swimming pool Walked a 200m highline in Akaroa and jumped a 100m rope swing Summited Mt. Aspiring Cycled to Treble cone, skinned up and skied down from the summit (all in a day) Hugged, kissed and embraced friends Been able to pick up a pair of sunglasses and put them on. All of this (and sooooo much more) without having to worry about my glasses/contact lenses inhibiting all of the above,. No amount of words will be able to explain what you have given to me. I had such a brilliant experience today at OCULA. Never before have I felt so looked after at an eye exam! Taryn is a very passionate optometrist and genuinely cares about your eye health and discussing results. I also couldn’t believe the technology they had! It was such a thorough exam, where I felt like an individual and not “just another number” as I have at more mainstream optometrists in the past. Plus the selection of frames to choose from was so exquisite! I’ve never felt beautiful wearing glasses before. I don’t know why you’d go anywhere else. Thanks again 😊

They also do infant eye health screening, which is wonderful for new parents like me. You can tell Danielle is passionate about eye health, she has created a friendly modern clinic that gives us Wanaka locals access to the latest high tech equipment. The level of service and care I received when I had an eye injury was 5 star - she always took the time to talk me through the results and the options I had and with her connection to the Ophthalmology Department in Dunedin, I was spared having to travel down to follow up with a specialist. I cannot recommend Danielle and the team at EoA more highly and they have some pretty sweet eyewear and sunglasses as well!

Caring people who are also true professionals in my opinion is a rare combination, but this is precisely what I encountered at Ocula in Wanaka. I found that they first appreciated me as a person, and then endeavored to meet my vision needs. Absolute care was taken with my recent and first experience with Ocula, Wanaka. My initial eye test was thorough, friendly and specialised to my line of work. The frame selection is fantastic, with an impressive stock of numerous top-quality brands and varieties. Staff styling recommendations were on-point and I ended up with their first suggestion of frames. My glasses arrived promptly, and my prescription was carefully applied to exactly how they sit on my face, customisation that I can really feel. They even adjusted the frames to my ear height (which is slightly non-symmetrical, it turns out! No more sliding around.) I am over the moon.
