Reviews of Auckland Harbour Bridge
M.
Somehow it doesn't seem so famous or as spectacular as Sydney Harbour Bridge and we didn't climb it, but it's still a super structure and it felt all the more impressive as we rode under it in the Harbour Cruise boat trip.
J.
Nice place to see the sunset when clear sky and no wind. Sometimes you can get a good fish.
A.
Place to be on 31st December Evening to enjoy the light show.
N.
Was peaceful place to spend a couple hours here with beloved one.
You can see a beautiful light around the beach and the bridge..
Some people also do fishing here. Was interesting to watch them.. :-)
M.
Allows the most convenient way of driving to the city from the North Shore. The lights at night are average and so are they during New Years but otherwise a very useful bridge.
b.
Beautiful😌 you can pay to walk under the bridge & the view is amazing (ofc not if you don't like heights)
M.
Beautiful place for fishing or just relaxing while watch the sea.
J.
It’s been refreshing to see the fantastic light show displayed on the Auckland Harbour Bridge over the Waitemata Harbour every evening on the half-hour for 5 minutes. We’re currently locked down in an Auckland CBD hotel for managed isolation, and this show gives us something beautiful to look forward to seeing from our vantage point. THANK YOU.

The place is more like thriller. Persuit you to be part of it. Good for walking, spend some quality time with your loved ones 👌
S.
Spectacular view and one of Auckland's historic landmarks. Although the bridge is aging, it has been well maintained. Could get packed with traffic sometimes. Westhaven marina right below the bridge could be your go-to-go place for a lovely run/walk with city views and the calm waters splashing on a bright weekend morning. However, this place looks best at night with the city lights sparkling, the stars on top and the waters below. One of my favourite hangout places in Auckland city. Could also be your prefect location for a drive and date😉
M.
The view of Auckland City sky line from this bridge is stunning. If you can book a tour to scale the bride I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed.
c.
Love this spot one of my fav , tht day we went fo new years eve and do some fishing at th same time loads of people good vibes that night it has a toilet facility near th buildings there , not sure if it's 24hrs tho .
R.
A magnificent work of engineering with the unbeatable views of the beautiful city of Auckland, New Zealand. Simply majestic.
P.
What a good old bridge. about 1020 meters long just about a 1KM. and its 43 meters high Im just 8 so i don't know how to drive. still its very cool.
M.
Iconic bridge, connecting the city with northshore, staying on the left lane you can enjoy the best view, walking and bycicle are not allowed in order to prevent suicide.
If u want you can do bunjie jumping from under the bridge or walking over the frame of the bridge.
It's a nice bridge, just watch out if you are with scooter or motorbike, the wind could be strong sometimes.
T.
Fun to drive across at night, watch the left side exits for downtown, you can easily get off track. The lights were stunning from our AirBNB.
J.
An awesome sight in the evening with the newly installed Vector lights. But regardless of day or night, it is always great to view from a far and drive across.
H.
Awesome bridge. Has a nice bungee jumping spot. And great Auckland skyline when you are crossing it by car.
T.
Apart from the bridge walk, well the fun is the fishing at the bridge and look at the catch .birds having a feast ,just smashing the water for fish
K.
8:30pm and your sure to catch it looking pretty
Or find your favorite advantage spot and enjoy an afternoon of racing
L.
Was here for sunset viewing. Its great to see a great bridge connecting west haven and noeth point.
J.
Great place to just escape in the central centre of the city and get some great views
v.
Popular for Hacket bungy. Biggest Bridge in Auckland.
A.
Nice view from this bridge especially bungy jump
A.
Had a great sail-boating experience!
W.
This bridge is great, it connects Auckland's south to north. It also has a great view. If this bridge isn't there I would need to take a extra 45 min to get around, so this bridge is a life saver.
D.
A vital piece of transportation infrastructure.
M.
The Auckland Harbour Bridge was opened on 30 May, 1959
In 1959, 11,205 vehicles crossed the bridge daily.
The daily average number of cars crossing the bridge is presently around
154,000, with more than 200,000 vehicle crossings some days [Northern
Busway has had impact on car numbers as people switch to public
transport]
It was built at a cost of £7,516,000, $24 million in today’s terms!!!
D.
Beautiful bridge, the addition of the new vector lights adds colour making the bridge come alive at night. Unfortunately no pedestrian or cycle lanes, or rail crossing so I give it 4 🌟's. The only way to cross (legally) is by vehicle however the great thing is it's toll-free!.. The view of Auckland city and Westhaven Marina from the bridge is so beautiful.
K.
Beautiful views irrespective of the weather. A good sunset view point too.
R.
Nice drive over Auckland Harbor Bridge on our way to Bay of Islands.
G.
I love it because I am a local. But pretty mediocre by international standards. You can go on walking tours to the top of the bridge or even do a bungee jumping from the lower levels. It was originally only four lanes wide and as Auckland grew four more were added (two on each side)
A.
I highly recommend climbing the bridge! It is a lot of fun and you get to see the city from the top. There are some narrow spots and a good amount of stairs, but it really is worth it when you finish! We had a 70 year old man with two knee replacements in our group and he was able to climb the bridge with very little difficulty.
K.
Nice areas to sit down and observe life around the bridge.

J.
Great trip from Auckland out to this fantastic food market on a Saturday. Music , dog minding too so take your fur babies along. Lovely girls do this for a donation. Close to the market so easy to keep an eye on them. Really great trip and easy roads to drive on.
K.
It is the key connection between North Shore and the other part of Auckland. Therefore its design may not be sufficient to handle the modern requirements of transportation. For example there is no bus lane on it and it only allows vehicles to get on. In normal hours it is still fine but it is definitely a bottleneck in peak hours.
A.
Its nice lookouts great place to take long walks well light and dog friendly
C.
A very good 👍 harbour bridge. 🌉
s.
Something about this bridge, every time I pass, I get lost in the view, same bridge, same view yet enjoy every single time. Recommended to travel by AT metro bus specially with upper deck and enjoy the view in the front ( just above the driver's seat). That's amazing!
V.
Just went down under the bridge city side to cast the fishing rod out for a couple of hours... About 10 or 12 people fishing there but still more parking available
A.
It doesn't have room for pedestrian traffic, bicycles or horses which is a tragedy considering it's contribution to global warming; basically a giant neon sign visible from outer space, alerting aliens to a great city for offloading their carbon emissions, too.
s.
Really nice place to see sunset
A.
It's a bridge that connects the northern part of Auckland to the Auckland central business district. It was developed during the early 1960's, meaning that it was not designed to be sufficient enough to hand the modern requirements of transportation we currently have now. Peak times range from your usual morning and evening commutes, and if there's a crash you might be stuck on the bridge. Traffic does get really bad, so if you live near the western side of North Shore, it's better to opt out and head through the western motorway where it's a bit more accommodating. We need a new bridge, traffic is increasing as we speak.
A.
Tranquil place to watch the sunset
R.
EXCELLENT PLACE TO FISH BUT NEEDS TOILETS
M.
The Auckland Harbour Bridge was opened in 1959 and connects Auckland city to the North Shore. For those who aren’t driving through it, the bridge has two main attractions: it is one of the city’s best bungee-jumping sites and most recently has become a venue for celebratory light shows. Parts of the Auckland waterfront, Mount Eden and Devonport will give you a full view of the bridge in its brightest glory.
T.
Christmas Eve 🎄
A.
Beautiful lights every night
D.
I have been using the bridge at least once a month just a beautiful view of the water.. boats..Auckland city at night from the north shore crossing the bridge is amazing.lots of maintenance going on keeping the bridge safe and sound
E.
Iconic image of Auckland. Never get tired of looking at the bridge. The feeling of "I am home" flows every time I see the harbour bridge.
The view from the top of the bridge is something else. Moderate health requirement, love every bit of the climb and they do tell you the stories about the bridge.
최.
You don't visit the harbour bridge because you are not allowed to stop while you're crossing it. You will get the chance to enjoy the scenery when there are plenty of traffic around you to hold you off in a gridlock though.
J.
Was there yesterday, there today and expect it will be there tomorrow. Would give a five but parts of the seal needs work. Does well to cope well with peak hour traffic and thanks to the help of those that look after it.
Note there is a crowd that hosts bungie jumping below the bridge, they operate from the mariner somewhere but you'd have to Google it! There's also a walk atop of the bridge also though not sure who runs that either, again Google it!
E.
Don't travel during rush hour!
S.
Can be seen from all over Auckland. Is beautiful when lit up. If you ever get the chance you should bungee jump off the bridge for around $160 and walk across for $125. Auckland icon
V.
The best and only direct connection between North Shore and Auckland city... The second best known infrastructure construction for Auckland, after the Sky City... The view of Auckland city is just amazing, especially on a summer day with hundreds of sails near the harbour and the majestic buildings.. it also has a bungy
G.
Seems quite solid. Probably won't fall down any time soon. The lack of public walkway is disappointing. Even the (planned) additional cycleway won't be free to use. It seems unfair to charge people to walk / cycle over when the cars go free...
s.
beautiful bridge i have seen
G.
The four lane (each way) Waitamata harbour crossing to the North Shore. The "Coat Hanger" is in some respects the poor cousin of the Sydney harbor bridge ( which you can walk and cycle across plus has train corridor) Hopefully the Sky Path will finally get built - by 2021. Bridge walk tours and bungy jumping is available for the thrill seekers. The night lighting is a good recent addition.
T.
It a good place to sit and relax
M.
Harbour bridge is a very well built bridge. The lanes are very big and smooth to drive. In the morning there are 5 lanes open towards the city and 3 towards north. But in the evening it is opposite.
G.
Stunning now it lights up at night with Leds
S.
One of the important and iconic bridges that connects Auckland CBD with north shore. Has been recently illuminated by vector power. Bungy jumping also happens here. It's a multi lane bridge with a seperate lane for buses. Boat cruises pass below the bridge all the time soaking in the beautiful view of the bridge with sky tower in the background.
V.
Beautiful scenery from far.
N.
Yeah, this is a nice bridge. Scenic to drive on, but do be careful on a windy day.
We all need to be thankful for this bridge, as it's the only way to get from North Shore to the city
C.
An Auckland icon! Fun to drive over, unless you're stuck in traffic.
R.
Good laughs, great vibes, and the best place to meet Mihajlo. 11/10
A.
I'm not good with heights, so the bridge climb during a storm may not have been the best idea... I've also done it on a fine day - great views of the harbour.
E.
Auckland Harbour Bridge does its job… carry people from one piece of land to another, it’s a bridge that’s its purpose, but it also provides to other functions one being a site and landmark for Auckland especially from the ocean it looks beautiful and its other function is to provide much needed traffic jams to the great city
R.
I had a good trip over the Auckland Harbor Bridge in the lanes that I chose but the two center lanes were blocked by two articulated vehicles coming together blocking both lanes one was a petrol tanker
.
W.
Surprisingly accessible, yet probably unknown to many Aucklanders. Worth further investigation when I have more time as I only discovered by accident. Hence my opening statement, & I call myself a born n bred Jaffa.
There seem to be walking trails, good parking & a bit of thoughtfully art. May be good phobia therapy for those with mechanical issues, as you can certainly hear & feel the traffic vibration !
A.
Nice at night when the bridge light lit up
B.
Absolutely stunning place to go in the Evening when the lights are on.
S.
Pride of Auckland I guess.
Only bridge connecting north shore side of Auckland with the main land Auckland.
A.
Since 1958, the Auckland Harbour Bridge has been a steel jewel in the crown of the Waitemata Harbour, bringing together the people of the North Shore and the Auckland isthmus.
While its importance as a civic threshold cannot be underestimated, the bridge is only the second-longest spanning structure in New Zealand. This short fall has often made it less valued by notable bridgeologists both nationally and abroad. The position of honour is instead reserved by the Rakaia River Bridge - the longest bridge in NZ. Despite this, the Auckland Harbour bridge will always have a special place in my heart as the place I first met Mihajlo. Can't wait to visit again!
R.
Do not just view the Auckland Harbor bridge from a distance. You must take the bridge walk and if you are strong hearted do the bungy jumping on the bridge. The jump is a good 40 meter jump (close to 130 feet).
A.
Ride the bridge, great expierience, loved it
N.
lovely mostly at night
J.
Just avoid peak hours and your be fine, make sure your in the right lane before crossing the bridge it helps on the other end.
R.
View the Auckland skyline from here.
E.
if you like a mix of speeding and slow moving cars, add a dash of "all over the road, not staying in your lane" and a small amount of, "why are the lanes so close together"? we have Auckland driving at its most exciting. depending on the time of day, you might feel like you are on a sight seeing tour, or a race to the end, like in that movie TRON. or some old time westy/bogan Smokey and the Bandit action, can you hear the V8`s. Auckland loves cars, we wont admit it to anyone who appears stylishly dressed.
M.
Great little spot to fish ,sit relax n ponder or go for a walk with a great view
W.
It's amazing how it crosses from one side to the other and cars & buses & trucks are able to drive over it without hitting the water. An awesome feat of engineering. Also a good place to meet Mihajlo
J.
Very impressive also to see from underneath.
J.
Nice view from Baywater
K.
Suspension adequate on this smooth drive. Night lights are a delight as you drive across the pinnacle of Auckland harbour
D.
Beautiful place to sit n watch the 🌇 brilliant👌
D.
Accessible from Westhaven Dr off Beaumont Street or from Curran Street if you want to go to under the bridge, City side. The Bridge Climb is and Bungy jump was located. It is good spot for walking and people can be seen fishing on the walkway.
Sorry, the Pink Cycleway entry is on Nelson Street/Pitt Street (It's not near the Harbour Bridge. I will correct this another time after I learnt how to do this). It's a fun cycle ride over part of the Spaghetti Junction to Mercury Lane. It's a safe ride and popular with families in the evenings and weekends. Park your vehicles on Mercury Lane and Canada Street. There's even a Council Carpark on Mercury Lane. Weekend and after hours entry is a Flat $2.00 or $3.00.
The pink cycle lane is a product of making good bad plans. Apparently, there were changes to the original flyover plans. Some extra bits of flyover were built to connect future lanes to merge motorways from different directions. Over the decades, the plans changed and we were left with roads leading no where. Then came one smart planner, we can make use of this meaningless highways - turn them into cycleways. Haha.
I still can't figure out how pink seal came into being. Somebody, please help complete the story!!
D.
Can you review a bridge?!?! Well it gets me to work so can't be bad. Problem comes when someone brakes down on it...miles of traffic jam until it's cleared...
E.
I particularly like the way it holds up cars
R.
Definitely a work of art from the distance but...
When you come close to it you notice there is no way of crossing it on foot below the bridge without booking a costly tour .
T.
It's been getting people in to the city since 1959. It covers up a thing called sulphur bay. Points off for commemorating 3 people who died building the bridge... when 4 died.
M.
Amazing place and great views. On the left you have Viaduct and on the right we have Skytower. Makes a perfect view for Auckland. Cheers ❤️❤️❤️
A.
Try the bungy under the bridge n the walk over the bridge
F.

The lights are so pretty at night...and these nice still autumn days and evenings on the waters edge are so nice
T.
A great ace to take in the view of Auckland Harbour, have lunch a d walk , cycle or scooter along the waterfront pathway.
R.
Great view driving over, traffic can suck at times. Doing the bridge climb is also pretty cool.
T.
A very normal steel framed concrete slab bridge that connecting the CBD to the North shore. This bridge could sway under a cyclone. 7 lanes with no cycling and walking space. Traffic congestion during the peak time.
p.
lights are
amazing
L.
Lovely bridge over a lovely harbour!
