I am very happy to write this review about one of the best IT companies I have ever had the pleasure to do business with. I was helping an elderly client of mine to help repair a water damaged Ipad with all her memories on it, the communication from Ryan and the team was fantastic and the fact they kept me up to date along the whole process. I can not recommend them enough and I will be gladly sharing their amazing services to all of my colleagues.

I had issues at first after dropping my SSD off at the drop point in Chch, as it took a couple weeks to turn up in Auckland. However, the staff were helpful in tracking it down, and were very prompt in recovering the data in full. Would use them for data recovery again, but I would be relying on my own post in the future.

I had an issue with my Facebook security and Cameron guided me through the issue. He was so helpful and kind that I highly recommend anyone needing help not to hesitate contacting Datalab. Thank you Cameron.

My laptop met with a blind grandmother and a full bottle of water. I was told by another repair shop that no data could be retrieved. Datalab managed to retrieve every last file. I was so impressed with their competence and their service!

Excellent experince, i was assisted by Ryan and despite its being a small, and a bit compicated job, he really went over and above to get an outcome most convinient for me. Really impressed, really professional, great service and I would use again for sure, i felt my data was in safe hands!

I was very relieved to receive the new drive with all my files - recovered from a degraded SSD. Datalab were professional, friendly, and helpful. The process took a little longer than I was expecting but I was happy to wait as they managed to recover 100% of my lost data. Thank you Datalab. (PS the only reason I didn't click 'good value' is because I have nothing to compare the cost with - job took 10 working days from the time I dropped off the SSD to the time the courier delivered the new drive and total cost (inc data recovery, new drive, and courier) was approx $850.)

I've recently been on a rollercoaster of emotion trying to recover some vital video footage from an SD card which I accidentally formatted (I know...). The team at Datalab gave me hope over the phone that they should be able to recover the data and then were in regular communication with me throughout the process. All in all in took 2-3 days, under $300 and they've recovered everything I needed from that SD card. I hope I never have to need them again but I'd happily recommend them to people just as stupid as me.

I recently lost a huge amount of work that had been saved on a hard drive without back-up. Within 48 hours it was fully restored to a new device, thanks to Datalab. Service was fast, friendly and delivered results. They also offered excellent communication and updates throughout the process. I can't recommend them highly enough for their great work. Got my data recovered from a laptop that would not turn on anymore. Good service and updates along the process.

Amazing team! After having suffered a spectacular laptop crash only to find that the automated back-up software had been disabled I was in a state. Had given the hard drive to local computer store who told me it completely fried and nothing could be retrieved. Sent to Datalab and within 4 days was informed that the entire drive was able to be saved and then 2 days later was couriered a new drive with all the data. Seamless experience, every step of the journey was documented. Worth every cent.

I have been using datalab for years now. They have successfully recovered data from some very tricky jobs and also been unsuccessful and only charged a very minor fee. Always great communication and good explanations given on expected wait times and reasons affecting data recovery.

Full data recovery from a failed 6 year old Mac hard drive, transferred to a new 1TB drive in 5 working days immediately after the Christmas period. Great face to face service with a clear explanation of the process, the range of possible outcomes and the likely price range for the work to be completed. The price was at the top end of that range but represented good value for me, especially as there were irreplaceable items of sentimental value on the drive. I also liked that DataLab advised that they would keep a copy of my data for a short time while I got the drive home and backed up - a 'belt and braces' approach that provides an extra level of comfort for the customer. I hope I never need data recovery services again but, if I do, DataLab will be my first call.

I recently had to recover photos from a damaged hard disk. I contacted Datalab. Their reception and communication was excellent, clear and easily understood. Their pricing structure was very good and I had a good idea of the cost before I took the hard disk in. I was kept informed every step of the way. They contacted me with a final price and asked if I wished to proceed. The final out come was as I expected and most of the photos recovered without any damage to them. I highly recommend Datalab

They are active and responsive since initial contact as well as during assessment of damaged disk (free) - professional and reactive all the way up to final data recovery and collection of recovered data. I am really glad DATALab is here available for recovering damaged disks - as anyone who experienced data lost; you can just hope you will not need their services :) so recommendation for everyone: do a backups; and not just one :D Price is fair and reasonable given specific service they provide. Great experience and excellent service level provided by DATALab. Thank you again for recovered data ;)

They are professionals. However, even though the valuable information from your computer can be recovered, be aware that there might be some extra costs alongside the labour. It makes sense to pay for the parts, but it should not come up as a surprise. Parking may be a problem, Newmarket is a great place, but also very busy.

Datalab provided a professional service from start to finish. All data was transferred from my damaged external hard drive to the empty one I provided and immediately dispatched to my home address. My initial enquiry by phone was dealt with very well by Cameron. I had wasted my time going to a couple of other places even though I had a pretty good idea my drive would need its data transferred in a certified clean room; it's just a shame that Datalab doesn't appear at the top of Google search. I phoned many other places in Wellington and those people seemed to have no idea what I was talking about. Although Datalab do charge a fair amount for their services it was well worth it; but I would strongly advise anyone to store their data in a cloud storage system as well as on a separate home external hard drive because hard drives can fail even when taken good care of.

Jacob and Cameron have been absolutely amazing in helping us recover a Hard-drive. The speed and attention to detail they gave us has been second to none. A long-term child who I work with had the hard-drive break after falling from a television and DataLab volunteered their services with such generosity and managed to recover priceless family videos and photos. The family and I thank DataLab for all their work. I would definitely recommend them for anyone who needs data recovery.

I had a video file that I had shot for a wedding that wasn't able to play fully, I called other data recovery business and none gave me an answer when I explained the issue at hand. Not only did Datalab give me a answer immediately but I was able to pop in on that day and get it checked out. Within 24 hours they had completely repaired the file 100% (while keeping me updated during the process). They were very quick, very reliable and I strongly recommend anyone having issues to hit them up! Thanks again Datalab team for helping me out so quickly!

I lodged 2 separate jobs (external hard drive/ out dated macbook) with DataLab & they provided a great service from start to finish, all my data from both devices were able to be recovered. These guys are fantastic, don't look any further you can trust them to do the job. If its doable they will do it and if they cant no one can. The team was great, everytime I called for update they gave me all the info, very professional team. Can't recommend this place more. Amazing service, affordable prices, quick turnaround time. I originally taking my damaged Hard Drive to PAYAM, I was quoted $1250 for the repair and was told it was going to take 6-10 weeks, and even if I didn't receive my photos back I would have to pay $500. After feeling very discouraged, I went in to Datalab to get a second opinion and within a day they let me know they would be able to recover all my data for less than half the price! The staff were all so friendly and the turnaround time was ridiculously fast. I can't thank Datalab enough for saving all my precious holiday memories (and also saving me from being completely ripped off!).

We own a hotel and when our hard drives failed, and the backup, that we thought existed in the cloud, wasn't in fact there, we were referred to Data Lab, and they worked their magic. We were told by our own IT consultant that there was no way of retrieving anything however we received 100% of the data back in less than 24 hours. What would a photographer do without Datalab? They saved my client's work, my portfolio, and my pride and joy - my personal photos. Even a backup fails and this was devastating for me. DataLab retrieved data from a drive I've had in my desk drawer since it failed in 2005. It had personal files, emails, photos & files from a project I managed in Korea in the early 2000's. I was thrilled to get the material back & very impressed by DataLab's prompt, efficient service & personal attention. I highly recommend them.

Last week I dropped my IPhone 6 in water which completely destroyed the phone. In a panic I spent hours on the phone with Apple trying to recover my photos and videos of my children and husband but they were unable to retrieve anything. The phone wouldn't even turn on and Apple advised me there was no way of retrieving my irreplaceable photos. In desperation I called Datalab and he advised me that for anything like this it is time critical and to get the phone into them as quickly as possible. Within 24 hours I received a call back from Datalab to advise that they had been able to retrieve EVERYTHING. Every photo, video, message - it was all there. Nothing short of a miracle! I cannot speak highly enough of this company. They have the best lab and technical gear and highly experienced staff. This is the only company that I would recommend for retrieving data - totally professional and I can't thank them enough.

Every wedding photographers nightmare...SD card failure! It happened to me and I was devastated however I googled Datalab Ltd and sent my SD card to them hoping they could recover my photos. We kept in touch during the process and it seemed that the staff were with me on my journey. I got the call to say that YES they had been able to recover 99% of the data. It was not a standard recovery and required a high level of technical procedures as the card had been damaged rather badly. I was so relieved and grateful and could not stop thanking them enough. Saved my credibility in fact!

Drive delivered to Datalab on Wednesday and data recovered and installed on replacement external drive within 3 days. Amazing service and keep in the loop all the way thru the recovery process. Would definitely recommend Datalab.

I've sent a hard drive in to Datalab to be assessed for recovery. They have very good systems for communicating to customers the status of the request. As soon as I had dropped off the disk I returned to find an email with account login. One day later I received an update with information about expected completion times. Very well organised.

They've had my drive since September 2016. They weren't able to recover the drive at all, 2 and a half years later. Getting cryptic and sporadic emails saying "maybe in another 6 months" when I contact them first and ask them for an update. They had the wrong address on the return courier invoice, and they wouldn't respond to their own ticketing system or my emails to their support staff via their own website about my request to get this address changed. Only when they called me to ask why I hadn't paid their wrongly billed invoice, did they finally update the delivery address. EDIT: Cameron from DataLab has reached out to explain where the communication problems ocurred, and their shortcomings in this area. A big problem was that there were no transparancy of work being done, even if it was done behind the scenes. Still need some work at replying to their ticketing system and replying to their website email queries, but other than that, I applaud him for taking the time to call his customer to straighten up any misunderstandings and failures.

In my case, I found it frustrating to not receive timely updates to my job. I did not receive these via freshdesk, although these were updated, usually after I had called in. The staff are friendly and helpful over the phone, but I found it frustrating to not have regular feedback, unless I called in. In my case, my water damaged iPhoneX data could not be recovered. It does seem like Datalab does not do chipset transplant to working motherboard. This is understandable on the iPhone X due to it's complexity. Neutral review - not exceptionally bad or good. Thank you for the assistance.

I am not one to write a review often however the work that Datalab did for me was exceptional. I have a 2008 Lexus GS450h and the navigation system hard drive was failing intermittently. Lexus NZ were unable to help, supply a new drive or even supply and install a complete replacement system. Lexus have the copy protection security well locked down and i was completely unable to copy the drive. After months of chasing options i contacted Datalab who were able to source and physically merge a brand new drive with my failed drive to create a fully functioning 'new' drive. The level of technical expertise that Datalab have on board is second to none. Highly recommended.

Superb service. Datalab recovered all the information from our damaged HD. I sent Datalab my damaged HD and they called me back with their technical assessment, the expected cost and the estimated timeframe to recover the information. After I agreed to proceed I was able to follow all the steps through their ticket system, receive my invoice , the confirmation of my payment and the postal delivery of a new external HD with the recovered information :-)

Absolutely brilliant! My hard drive failed electronically but Datalab were able to recover 100% of my files. So people, do backups, and if you don't and something goes wrong, do Datalab!

The intelligence/geekyness at this place if off the chart, dont try and understand what they do just get your broken stuff down here to be fixed in a jiffy. I've turned up unannounced and they wouldn't give me my hard drive without calling the 3rd party company I used to sign it off to hand over to me, so not only a decent firm, they fully understand the importance of your information and won't hand it over to any wrongun rolling up at their office. Use these Geeks!!!
