Y.Great movie. Rather disappointed as no coffee. Had been looking forward to coffee, cake and a sit down all day. Couldn't find coffee anywhere in Balmoral! Understand that functions part of the business,but would appreciate notice so could choose if would go another time or to another theatre.

M.This is a charming little cinema, service was great too, comfy seats and plenty of leg room in the theatre. Convenient and free car park behind the cinema and there are lots of asian eateries on Dominion Road to enjoy a bite to eat before the movie.
J.Our beautiful local cinema shows new and old movies. The most recent movie we saw was Vertigo which was fantastic.That Technicolor on the big screen is phenomenal. The Capitol staff are friendly and we love the glamorous decor. Looking forward to the Italian film festival.

D.My favorite local theatre! Easy walking distance and surrounded by places to have a meal. So pleased to see that it has re-opened after a very brief closure. Small and intimate, with very comfortable seats. Perfect for seeing movies you've missed in the city theatres.

A.My local cinema and I adore it. The service and atmosphere is superb, it's like jumping into the past in the most sophisticated way. It's cheaper than big branch cinemas too. Highly highly recommend, you will not regret and it will fast become your favourite cinema venue.

S.Brought back to life I the 1980's as "Charlie Gray's," its classic-era cinema styling is luxurious and inviting. Always playing the best of the more alternative releases, this cozy cinema frequently fills up so it pays to book for peak times. The coffee and ice cream are good enough for a visit regardless. With great dumpling houses and Kiss Kiss in the same block it is perfect for a "dinner and the movies" night.

M.Went to eat there tonight and as usual the no.11 dish did not fail me. Amazing clean healthy food and wonderful service. Nice place to sit in and seats 5 people to 6 max. Sarah the manager makes a nice miso soup there too. Very happy customer. Sushi is great and very reasonable price.
V.A nice and cozy little cinema that's not usually very crowded. Great place to hangout with friends. Also has a canteen which sells ice creams, chocolates and many other confectioners. Being a small cinema means not being bombarded with advertisements before the movie begins, having a staff that's always smiling and helpful, and an audience that is extremely polite and full of cinephiles. Being located in the heart of Dominion Road also means that it's walking distance away from a lot of nice restaurants and other food joints. Highly recommended.
R.Beautiful cinema. Excellent movie food. Coffee and wine available. Always good movie selections. Well priced and in a great area to grab a meal before or afterwards. Love it. Up a lot of stairs though so if you have mobility issues try their sister cinema the Lido instead.
J.If I could give this place more than five stars I would. The seats are amazing and the price you pay is very reasonable. The ice cream there are really good and with all the good asian eateries in the vicinity. This is a hidden gem in dominion re.
C.Cute old school cinema. Cheap ticket pricing. At most $13 for an adult. $10 on Tuesdays I think. Friendly staff. Licensed so you can enjoy a beer wine or coffee while you watch
T.I really love watching films here. The old world vibes from the velvet and crown molding on the walls and ceiling make it feel like a luxury night out. But the prices for tickets and at the small shop are reasonable. The chairs are big and you sink into them like a comfy couch. There are small tables in between so you are not wrestling for space with your neighbour. Luckily it is not usually full and you have some breathing room. The showings are often award nominated, alternative, or only the beat blockbusters. The Capitol is clearly marketing to people who want to watch a good film and have it feel like a small special occasion.
S.I really like this old style small cinema. They have interesting movies here, like Nocturnal Animals played on Halloween and captain fantastic which was a great movie. Good selection because it’s not mainstream but not so arty that’s it’s not enjoyable to watch. Love it.

N.Best cinema around. Small, super comfy seats. Good ice cream and wine selection and reasonable prices. If a movie I want to see is playing here, I will always make the effort to go to Capitol.
j.Love this Cinema, you often even have it all to yourself. Old school style and comfort plus decent beers and real icecream to enhance the movie experience.

F.It's old, quirky and full of character. One of the must-visit places.
The decorations take you on a trip to the past. It is unlikely that you will get annoyed with some popcorn and mobile obsessed viewers as the average age is slightly higher.
Screen is of a decent size and quality.
D.Lovely vintage atmosphere. The double couches are great for couples, but recommend short people don't sit in the front ones, as your view will be obstructed slightly
R.Echo all the other comments about the old school nature of this place. Even has sofas for two if you're a couple. Beer at seats, great ice cream. And the films start on time, at least ours did. Few late arrivals caught out, probably used to the rather irritating mainstream cinema habit of films starting late.

H.Perfect theatre. Nice and clean with excellent staff. Watched bohemian raphsody here. Thought it might have lost in such a small theatre but it made you feel part of the movie...well I did.

Z.Great little cinema. Got to see Hunt For The Wilderpeople with overseas friends after other cinemas stopped showing it. Also got to drink wine and coffee while enjoying the movie. Great atmosphere.

Simple pleasures are the best and the Capitol is a straight up vintage independent cinema.
A.Quirky movie theatre. Went at 5 with a friend thinking to grab a drink before the movie at 6.30 movie but it was still closed. Theatre was comfortable and clean.

I.Cosy little cinema, the little area outside the theatre for people to wait for the movie to start was a nice touch, heaps of food choices around (if you are into Asian food), perfect place for a date night.

J.Shhhhh dont tell anyone about this place, great cinema with realistic prices or tickets and the snack bar has real ice cream with lots of flavours . The only down side is there is no disabled access but we just work through it.
