M.This was my first time visiting this cinema and we were not disappointed. Small cozy and beautiful. Really enjoyed it.
L.Screen isn't the best quality but I like the aesthetic and the size of the theatre. Love that you can have hot drinks. Would love if they made fresh popcorn instead of packet stuff but I understand they are quite small so might not be a profitable thing to invest in. Definitely a nice change from the big cinemas.
Z.Saw The Beatles Rooftop concert twice. Awesome to hear it with their screen and sound. I love The Beatles but didn't really enjoy songs they played on the roof but for seeing it at Alice's I have new found respect or the bands last album

H.Amazing collection of films. If you're a film buff or just looking for an excuse for a nice night in have a good look through the collection at Alice's, I promise you'll find much more than you intended on.
Love the two small cinemas here. Have seen a couple of films here and the quality of picture and sound is excellent and the seats are comfy. Can't go past a choc top ice cream with peanuts on top. The snack selection is otherwise mostly pretty bougie, so no popcorn machine here, think hot nuts and fancy organic soda.
Prices are very reasonable considering that Alice's is a boutique cinema experience.

E.Love this place! From the Art Deco exterior to the rich interior colour pallete and the continuum of Art Deco features. When you walk through the front door it's the beginning of an experience, it is like going back in time. The DVD library and customer service counter is so old-world - I love it! The cinemas are themed. I loved the detail evident in the Egyptian theatre. Great choice of snacks and drinks. And customer service with a smile. Costs a little more than your big cinema chains but Alice is intimate and classy and worth paying the extra $.
S.The Customer Service team is always prompt in responding to any questions or comments. They are also very polite and more than happy to help.
The DVDs are sent out very quickly and are easy to return once they have been received. A handy return envelope is included in each package.
I enjoy using the booking or queue system to order DVDs. The queue tool is very easy to use - I can change the issue order and add or remove DVDs off the list as I please.
The website is incredibly easy to navigate around and use. They even have a handy YouTube video tutorial on the basics of using the website and how their DVD ordering system works. They really do think of everything.
Alice DVDs also have a range of subscriptions to suit different usage levels. All of the plans are excellent value for money.
I was able to find some movies and TV series that I could not find anywhere else - which was an unexpected bonus. There is a monumentally huge range of movies and
TV series available to view.
If I were to rate the service I have received out of 5 stars, I would certainly give it the full 5 stars. I definitely recommend using Alice DVDs and won't use anything else.

아.Recommended if you want to see movies with the most inexperienced people. I went to see US. But people was chatter and laughed even at critical moments. I couldn’t enjoyed my movie but nice place and staff was so kind.

J.Always love Alice's. Definitely the best range of movies for hire. Forget netflix or any other streaming service. Alices has all the classics and brilliant films that they dont bother with. But the theater itself is also great. Cosy, personal good ice creams and just a lovely atmosphere. The movie snacks are generally good although its things like hot nuts instead of hot popcorn.

My partner and I adore the cute and cosy feel to the smaller sized cinema. DVDs are available for rent too making the one of the most unique cinema's I've been to and with fantastic staff giving perfect service recommend this place for a visit!

g.I am from the states where the cinemas are mammoth in scope and attendance. Alice offers something that the states have lost decades ago and misses entirely now in their pursuit of their 'holy and sacred' profits... a really quality cinema experience!
Alice affords a venue of small, intimate, high quality. The service is extremely personable and friendly. The lobby atmosphere given the decor, patrons and staff is fabulous! The cost is embarrassing low for the fabulous experience and service afforded their customers.

B.Great little independent theatre. Alice screens the unconventional films that the large theatres won't. As of writing, Alice was the only theatre in town that was playing Death of Stalin.
The Ticket prices are on the high side, but snack prices are reasonable. Alice offers students discounts, which is great if your from the nearby Ara Institute.
Alice has two themed theatres with capacity for about 30 people, complete with opening curtains and classic music from various films playing as you wait, which I think are all nice touches.
Would recommend.
A.Came here to see a movie not too long ago and the place was very cool and well looked after, but the employees weren't very helpful at all. They seemed like they hated being there and they weren't all that friendly. I had a strawberry milkshake and it was $7, but it tasted awful, and then I realized it was probably just strawberry Nesquilk and milk.
S.Had a brilliant night at the movies. Wednesday night my friend and I went to see Bad Times at the El Royale. We had the theatre to ourselves. The movie was great, very tense, there was lots of screaming and laughter. We were grateful to have the place to ourselves. Not so good for Alice. A real gem in the city.
L.Always a great experience. Would only choose another theatre if the film I wanted to see wasn't available at Alice Cinema.

R.This is one of the greens of Christchurch. One of the pieces of charm that has survived the times and survived the quakes. If you are a film buff this is the place for you. They have an incredible selection of films ranging from New released to foreign and classics and their special collection of the 300 best films ever made always provides something interesting to watch.

L.Alice's is a Christchurch Institution. Through the earthquakes, the overall collapse of the wider video rental market and the rise of streaming, Alice's has been a constant, providing a high quality selection of films and television from all genres and time periods, all organised through an exhaustive online database.
Their recent development into boutique cinemas has been welcome, especially due to the loss of the Rialto and Metro cinemas post 2011. Of course this had meant compacting the collection into a smaller area, making some of the spaces a little cramped. Thankfully, this is rarely a problem.
The experience and quality associated with Alice's does come at a premium, and the costs of renting or watching a film are a little higher than they might be otherwise. However, if you're looking for something at Alice's, it probably isn't easily accessible anywhere, so the premium is generally worth it.
All in all, Alice's is an important part of Christchurch's cultural landscape, and is always worth a visit, whether it's just to look at new acquisitions or to find something completely new.

E.Tickets are abit expensive. Nice theatre but don't watch a movie there Friday night's. You can hear the music thumping from the restaurants next door. Lol
