The Dunedin Railway Station is a magnificent architecture. It was built in 1906.
It is like returning to the past, and do not expect the station to be like a modern train station of contemporary design with modern furniture, but with ornate interiors and period adornments, including the mosaic porcelein floor tiles of the booking hall.
In front of the train station is a beatiful garden known as the Anzac Square Gardens (see separate entry in Google Maps).
Otago Farmers Market is held at the carpark adjacent to the station every Saturday.
M.Historic Dunedin Railway Station provides a glimpse of its former glory, meticulously maintained and now reimagined as the Art Station. Very popular with tourists, and train lovers, exquisite interior design, friendly staff and clean amenities makes for a pleasant visit. Nice gift shop too. Highly recommended 10/10

Well kept gardens surround this old Dunedin Railway station building.
As you walk through the station,following the stairs upwards and looking down one can't help but reflect on the past and feel the excitement of hustle and bustle of commuters in times gone by.
Wow what a journey they must have had with so many stories to tell.

W.The most photographed building in the country, the Dunedin Railway Station was constructed in 1906.
The station is constructed of dark basalt with lighter Oamaru stone facings, giving it the distinctive light and dark pattern.
Featuring mosaic-tile floors and beautiful stained-glass windows.
The roof was tiled in terracotta shingles from Marseilles surmounted by copper-domed cupola.
No expense was spared to create this magnificent building. The roof is adorned with red Marseille tiles from France. Inside, is the mosaic floor.
More than 725,000 Royal Doulton porcelain squares form images of steam engines, rolling stock, and the New Zealand Railways logo.

R.Beautiful place. But nothing interested in there. One time visit place. But if you go out of the city, there is a hill near to the port. You will find a great view and you can see the whole city and the beautiful sea.
G.Dunedin Railway Station is an iconic building that was constructed in 1906 and is a true example of Victorian architecture. From a distance you get a magnificent view of the structure with its shades of dark and light. The interior is something else with a mosaic floor of around 750,000 Milton tiles. It is very impressive indeed especially viewed from the upper level. The gardens outside are beautiful and well maintained. If you are visiting Dunedin visit the Railway Station and you won't be disappointed.
