Matt and his team helped us with a native mixed species planting on our property near Dunedin. Matts extensive knowledge of natives was invaluable during the planning and planting phase. With his team the plants went in the ground quickly and easily. His continued support and advice on weed control / management has helped as they've become established and we've seen good growth in the first 6 months. I would highly recommend Monowai Ecological for anyone contemplating a similar project.

Matt Thomson managed our ecological planting that required an overall management from planning to implementation. It was a large project requiring 20,000 plants. We have had a great outcome and with ongoing site visits and weed management. Matt brought great experience to the project and was very generous with his time and advice. He is a great communicator and we have learnt a lot about the ecology of NZ native trees from Matt. Matt took the time to develop a clear plan but was flexible and adjusted to the circumstances as the project developed. We have appreciated and enjoyed woking with Matt and have no hesitation in recommending him.

We had a piece of degraded farmland that was overgrown with broom and wanted to restore this land and halt reverse land degradation and biodiversity loss. We also wanted to protect the land for future generations. We contacted Matt in October 2020 and explained what we wanted to do. He took this on board and since then the ecological restoration has been a smooth journey. Matt, his team, and partners provide full end-to-end services from ecological surveys, landscape planning, external funding, clearing, drainage, fencing, pest control, to the actual planting and maintenance. More than 7,000 shrubs and trees went into the ground in Autumn and we are well on our way to a total of more than 40,000 shrubs and trees over the coming years. Matt has been excellent in the management of the whole project, with clear communication, timely updates, financial projections, progress reporting. Matt and his extended team at Monowai Ecological comes highly recommended.

Monowai Ecological did a great job of clearing our overgrown planning site, allowing us to get plants in the ground quickly and easily. They were super easy to deal with, had clear communication and were accommodating to the scale and focus of our project.

Matt and the team have done a fantastic job helping us re-vegetate our lifestyle paddock. From gorse-spraying to ground preparation, planting and subsequent maintenance they have always been helpful, knowledgeable, pragmatic and there when we needed them. Highly recommended.
