Reviews of Orokonui lagoon walk - No Dogs
M.
We enjoyed our walk around the Lagoon. Sign for the path a little confusing in the village as it was a different name. Mostly the walk is easy though at one side of the Lagoon there are some steepish parts to the path for people who are less mobile or steady on their feet. Lovely to see the bird life.
H.
Mint easy walk with some native bush & native bird life, takes about 45mins to do a loop, try time it for when the tide is right in for the best views, still great anytime though
P.
Amazing walk. It takes less than an hour and the views are just amazing ! What else can I say
R.
Conservationists have done a fabulous job restoring this natural habitat, breathing life into what was derelict neglected scrub from early settlers mismanagement of land with no understanding of natural equilibrium or sustainability...Delightful walk. Saw 20 Pukeko which is a record for me and testament to the restoration project.
C.
Historically and geologically interesting. Beautiful scenery. Turn off points that can make the walk longer/shorter/harder or easier. At times seals, sealions, penguins and marine bird life. All in all a good walk. If the weather closes in nearby is Estuary walk and a good coffee to be had at Blueskin Nursery.
G.
A very nice loop walk around the lagoon.
D.
This was a beautiful walk along a little river. Short walk, but there were a ton of different types of birds and ducks to view. No hills, so great for all ages. Small river that flows through the property. Also, if you are lucky, you will get to see the trail come by too!
R.
Beautiful walkway. You have a reason from Duniden to waitati during summer.
R.
Easy, varied walk with a lovely cafe nearby. Takes around 1 hour or longer if you go at a more leisurely pace ... stop to play Pooh sticks or take photos.
A.
Great walk bit longer if you got kids but they had such an good time and lovely walk going to do again
K.
Well maintained track, well signposted (which is unusual for Dunedin). Bit of Bush lots of birds to see. Wild blackberries yum. Took us about an hour.
J.
A walk on board walks and natural pathways through natural bush. Very peaceful listening to tui and bellbird with sightings of pukeko and heron.
A.
A lovely walk, tracks aren't that well sign posted in some areas, but you kind of figure it out. Lots of birds to see and listen to
M.
Easy walk on good track. Some confusion about direction, but a short chat with a local sorted it out.
G.
Can't beat it. The dog loves this a lot nice and flat for old dogs and slightly shelled out of the wind.
B.
Didn't know this walk was here. Nice walk around the lagoon. A little hard to know where your going in a couple of places very nice and good information boards.
T.
Nice flat walk for those who don't do hills so well. Lovely quiet area, beautiful.
S.
A truely beautiful place. Good for Kids and with a well run volunteer program so you too can get amoungst
L.
Start at the east side (ocean side) if you wanna get the hilly bit out of the way first. ESP if you're running.
