We watched "The Duke" at 3.10pm yesterday. Sadly, we were the only movie goers. Please support this theatre. The ice cream was great. Weirdly, we could only pay by card to buy the movie tickets, but we could pay cash for the ice cream - we were served at the 2 counters by the same staff member. We couldn't sit in one allocated seat H10, bc the seat was filthy. Please clean it. (I took a photo). The theatre carpets looked lovely and clean, and the toilets were immaculate. We otherwise thoroughly enjoyed the movie - and once again, please support the theatres.

For the bigger beautiful people: People in our family couldn't fit in the seat and sat in the lux seats. Staff politely came to kick us off and when we had told them we couldn't fit, they politely explained that we just needed to pay an extra seat for the inconvenience. Honestly made the entire ordeal a breeze and we didn't have to feel embarrassed. Definitely our go to! Thank you for being so inclusive.

Wanted to go watch RRR with my family which I understand is R16, everyone had there vaccine pass but unfortunately my sister didn't have her physical ID with her, why would you ask for vaccine pass which has date of birth as proof then ask for a proper copy and yes my sister looks underage but she is 16 but because of her not having her ID with her she wasn't allowed in meaning that my whole family and I had to get refund.... So let me ask Hoyts what's the point of doing a proper vaccine pass check at the front which states the person date of birth then ask for ID? The Government won't lie about it a person age on it.... Some of the staff were kind and about to let us in but this one girl kept her eye on my family and my sister asking my sister for her ID we told her we didn't have a copy on hand but did have vaccine pass with age so please Hoyts can I get an explanation on this?

The lux experience is mixed. There is no "Call Staff" button as outlined on the website, the food is passable but expensive so if you're looking for a night out go to a restaurant first and a movie after, the seats are great and it does feel like a premium experience for the extra cost. TL;DR The Lux seats are great but stick to the snacks and drinks, not the cooked food

Good location, very welcoming and understanding staff. My dad chose the wrong theatre online, and they got us transferred back here right away. Quick and easy. Parking is a little annoying occasionally, but this is to be expected. Didn't try the food/drink but of course it was crazy expensive. 2 little boxes of skittles for $12!!!! NUTS

Great range of theatres. Dbox. Luxe. Luxe really is a nice experience if you order meals and drinks. Makes for a special outing. 1 star lost for reduced food options available for purchase when not in Luxe. Really need to expand the options here!

Me and hubby always go to hoyts cinemas either is weekday or weekend. We enjoy the atmosphere, movies on big screen and sometimes Lux coz of the yummy food. My husband always says " Live life King size ".

Given 3 stars as this venue still doesn't have Dolby atmos. It's 2021 not 2010. Also the majority of screens are 2k resolution which results in a blurry image. 4k projectors are a need for all screens. I have a better experience at home with a sharper and clearer picture and more immersive audio with Dolby atmos. Another con is the seats are very narrow and larger people won't fit in the xtremescreen.

Great to see high school students at the front desk doing a good job on there own with no one else helping with a huge line waiting. She took it in her stride and coped really well. Expensive compared to the theaters in centre place.

A return to movies, to escape for a couple of hours a pandemic, a life threatening disease, virtual unemployment and a spouse's death. About time. Movies certainly haven't got any cheaper, and they should at least use threats to rob you with the price of popcorn, but worth it. Just a good experience

Delta Level 2 meant there was no one at the front desk to buy tickets from. Lucky I bought online because there was no signage saying I couldn't buy tickets there. Lovely lady served us when we got snacks but other than that we didn't see many people at all. Watched Free Guy which was a hilarious movie.

Nice to be back at the movies, nice for a night out rather than movies at home. Worth the admission to watch on the big screen, tidy cinema. I prefer the usual cinema icecreams to ben and jerrys but that's just personal taste. NZ standard cinema experience. Clean, tidy and good sound and vision. Decent seats.

When we went, there was hardly any staff. No one to stamp your ticket, the self service area was a bit hard without any prices anywhere. But seats were comfortable, overall nice area. But it's definitely not what it used to be like.

We went and saw a movie on the large screen. It was a great experience. I think the concessions are a little overpriced and I don't like that the drinks don't come with refills. The seats are comfortable and the popcorn was good. I'll be going back to see more movies here.

Every time I go there it is always a very nice and clean environment and the customer service is always top notch. layout of the cinemas is quite good as well as all the lighting and everything else. A decent selection of food and Treats as well as a good selection of various alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Popcorn sizes is amazing. And is very cool to see the various containers and promo items that are currently available relative to each movie that is playing.

I have to agree with an earlier comment that was made about no pricing in the snacks and refreshments area, that was very annoying especially for people who might be on a budget like myself. Prices are expensive, the largest popcorn at $11.30 and $6 for an ice cream. The food can end up costing more than the movie itself! There was 7 of us (6 adults and 1 child) and we didn't get through the popcorn, still close to a bucket left. The cinema itself was decent and we experienced the D.box seats which were enhancing and fun. Will visit again but will be conscious about the food prices.

Excellent cinema, plenty of food and drink to choose from, having an almost buffet style to pick your food. Also hassle free booking, can choose your seat placement, and seating very spacious. For the regulars there is the Hoyts Membership card to get rewards points for every movie you attend, plus invites to special events held, and discount prices.

Clean with most things handy. Plenty of parking which is free (indoor and outdoor options) plenty of surrounding shops, food outlets, and a bar. We opted for the Lux option. It was a little odd as the downstairs wasn’t staffed well and the upstairs had issues with the coffee machine and the drinks machines. Staff were friendly. Recliner chairs were nice.

Cinema was Empty - good seats - the film was - The personal history of David Copperfield - was not what I expected - (it's a Long time since I have read the book) just felt a bit 'different' but was Good - a very enjoyable use of 2hours

Our favourite place to Lux it out. The only reason it is not 5 stars is that the staff at the Lux bar could probably be a little more, trained as it was just us and one other couple and two staff and it took almost 15 minutes to get our drinks, popcorn and order one dessert! Otherwise lovely (expensive, but we all know movies are!) comfy seats, good movie .. the man I love ... can't beat it!

Great place to go watch a movie, quite clean. Comfortable seating I would recommend paying extra to go see a movie in the Xtreme screen as it is a spectacle to behold, I recommend something like an action movie or sci fi movie as it is an EPIC scene to watch a movie on such a massive screen. It is a nice breath of fresh air from the old run down feeling of the other cinemas in Hamilton. 10/10 would recommend again

I enjoy Hoyts alot more than Event cinemas and we go here at least twice a month but it's always a let down when we plan on grabbing one of the hot dogs to have before a movie and they tell us there will be a 20minute wait. Sometimes they can't even serve alcohol as there are no hotdogs available. I think they could work on serving something other than hotdogs downstairs as upstairs in Luxe you can get a variety of different food.

The Hoyst has to be one of the best cinemas that my family, my friends, and I have ever experienced and enjoying the movies that they host with amazing comfort. Overall the staff service here... is amazing, although The Hoyst does not serve just original popcorn and original soft drinks i.e popcorn flavored butter, cheese and many more, soft drinks like Coca Cola, Fanta, Sprite and etc. though they serve No Nonsense Nacho popcorn, Cheddar & Caramel popcorn, Frozen Coke soda and Cotten candy, but I wish that there were more flavors for the frozen coke, in conclusion... The Hoyst is one of the best, cinemas to go and watch movies.
