Reviews of Park Road Reserve
t.Pleasant enough but i prefer bush walks. Great for cyclists though.

J.Awesome park. Very tranquil & less visited.
G.We thought that we were going to the beach. We found just a tiny strip of Sandy Beach, with mangroves trying to get a foothold. Tidal estuary is what this place is. Large lawns stretch back to the Summerset Retirement Village. Massive buildings. Not quite what we expected. Ample car parking, sure, but masses of swampy mangroves and a long view out to Matakana Island and the sheltered inland estuarine waters.
D.Awesome walk. Some great work has been done here, wetlands restored, tracks are comfortably walked, bikes welcome, dogs under control, lovely seats dotted along for rest or compilation.

J.A lovely place to park up and go for a lovely walk along the estuary watching all type s of bird s and fauna. There are board s along the walk pointing out the birds at you can see in that area and local places of interest.
P.Stunning, great views and concrete foot path for walks, picnic table by the little beach loads of grass for picnics.
I.A nice waterfront reserve with some bench seating, access to the foreshore, and some shade provided by planted trees. This reserve has been updated, with the help of the retirement village across the road, who have installed a wheelchair accessible pathway around the site.
The reserve attracts a few dog walkers and joggers but isn't overly busy.
There is quite a mix of wildlife to be seen here what with the connecting path to the Uretara stream, and it's bird walk, close proximity to mangrove swamps where pukeko love to emerge, the seabirds over the water. You can sit here for an hour and see quite a lot.
The only downside is that the small carpark sometimes acts as overflow visitor parking for the Summerset by the Sea. It also doesn't allow for self contained vehicle parking.
