Reviews of Wainuiomata Regional Park
T.
Beautiful. Great place to take a walk with kids or dogs. Picnic area. Swimming holes.
S.
Wonderful trekking with a beautiful view of the LowerHutt dam which is one of the oldest in NZ built in 1800. Gum loop track is highly recommended for the intermediate trekkers. There are some swimming holes too.. well maintained except for a little distance where there are fallen trees and there are sign boards to guide on same and you can also see they have removed few. On the whole wonderful one day trek experience.
L.
Nicely kept reserve with tracks, picnic areas and swimming holes. A great place to get away from the bustling city. A good area to walk the dog on a lead and get the children away from their electronic devices. Lots of surprises to keep up the interest as you follow the tracks.
W.
Wonderful tracks beautiful scenery
M.
A beutiful, quiet sirene park to hang, chill excercise and provides loads of options for short or long walks amongst virgin native forest, tenting areas, picnic tables and open park spaces to stretch out a bit!
N.
Our go to hikoi and summer swim spot. Would be nice to have bins onsite as there are picnic tables but no bins. Could deter people from littering and ruining the place.
E.
Some easy walks there, good for a 1 hour return walk with kids.
G.
So beautiful.
D.
A few easy to intermediate bush walks, ideal for groups and families, but not so much for adventurers. A nice swimming hole near the carpark too. It is also possible to cycle on the road, as traffic is not allowed through.
R.
So much to see. Lovely spaces to enjoy, very buggy friendly but take an off-road type buggy and don't attempt the Sledge Track from the southern entrance - use the Tana Umaga track to get back to Gum Loops. Also be aware the only toilets are up by the lower dam where dogs are not allowed.
Can't wait to return!
