Reviews of Matakana Country Park
M.
Great place to be with kids and family. Good options of food and drinks, play area for kids, awesome view
B.
I didn't go to the restaurant or on the playground but I went to the markets that are held every Sunday. It had so many stalls and so much stuff to buy. From doorknobs to candles to sarongs to garden sculptures. Definitely worth a visit!
D.
Lovely place to visit especially if you have young kids. Best to book the pony rides ahead of time. There is also a mini train ride, feeding animals, playground and cafes. Nice day out.
K.
Looks like it wouldn't be cool but came on weekday, Friday, and nothing was open, also hard to find info regarding the attractions. Went on the Farm Walk and there were no animals other than horses. A bit disappointing, but may be better on the weekend.
D.
Great place do visit, wasn't expecting to find such a diverse and interesting place but a local mentioned it and I'm glad they did. If you have young kids they'd live it for the animals and there are very good coffees and food to be had in this complex. St Andrews Church also suits beautifully nestled into this stunning area. Well worth stopping.
M.
Market is relaxing but need more than 1 coffee vendor to cater to that many people.
D.
Good range of kids play equipment nearby other restaurants and event function venues.
B.
Very cool for our gang of 2 - 4 year old kids they loved it.
L.
Great fir families with a petting zoo, massive playground with towers, castles and ships. The pub overlooks an equestrian practice area which is awesome too. The bar, Smiths, is low key with a wide range of sharing dishes. We got 3, which were delicious, $14-$18 a piece. Crispy pork bao, King Salmon poke and Stir Fry Kumara. Amazing. Kid's options were available too.
K.
Relaxing and friendly stall holders. We had a really lovely time.
C.
For a change we can visit this place and enjoy for shopping, eating and village market.
m.
People there are very happy and friendly and the whole atmosphere was amazing
D.
Its ok but ,went with my daughter Rachael to spend some time together.
O.
A great stop you yourself or the whole family with cafe, bar and restaurant making options for all times of the day. Horses, farm animals and ride on mini railway are great for the kids. Several crafty stores including art, bespoke jewelry and local sourced craft and gift stores. Well worth a visit if passing through or regular local
S.
Good walk around the market this morning, good variety of stalls,
G.
Awesome place for kids.. lovely coffee
M.
Lovely environment and the farrier was wonderful.
C.
So good! We took a group of 1 year old babies here who loved seeing the animals (free!) and crawling around the adventure playground (also free!). Plus good coffee and food options. Can’t wait to try the railroad on our next trip.
P.
A nice way to kill an hour and a bit with young kids. Goats and pigs to feed, a playground with variety, an art store (which you probably won't want to buy anything from) and an alfresco cafe and the always popular pony rides and mini ride on train ride. Perhaps not a must visit destination, but definitely worth it if you need to keeps the kids busy.
K.
A must visit if you are in the Matakana area. We stayed at the campground and enjoyed meals at The Stables, Smiths Bar and the cafe - all were outstanding. The people are all friendly and welcoming, and the kids loved the playground.
H.

There is a jewelry shop which I only just discovered. Did a great job resizing my mum's rings for a fair price.
J.
Great place for family entertainment or just browsing yourself. Craft shop, art gallery, coffee shop and various other things. Near to the beach and winery's and of course Matakana shops and restaurants.
M.
Great place to keep the kids active and engaged. Take some togs or a change so the kids can run down the water slide.

Quaint setting, rambling facilities, well spread out. Plenty of space for parking in two areas. Animal facilities are starting to show their age. Petting area for children under supervision.

Nice place... Enjoy the oyster and wine festival just around the corner and had a blast with friends. There's lots of holiday accommodation nearby at it seems to be a great area for holidays and getaways
a.
bit run dwn nice to see the animals but they need to be looked after better. wasnt cool to see a dead sheep just lying there for kids to see.
P.
Nice little selection a restaurant, cafes, sweet as pie shop, craft shop, and a mini train, thats right, im serious, a for real mini train around a pond with its own tunnel. Feed the animals, or even learn how to ride a horse. The immaculate groundskeeping and fantastic range of activities make this a primo family spot. To top that, its one of the best intimate live music venues on the planet.
