Lovely walkway that stretches along the waterfront from town out to bell block. Perfect for a walk, run, bike, skate, scooter or practically anything. Very scenic along the walkway, with plenty of great photo opportunities. There are lots of beach access points along the way, and many seats to admire the view. Very popular walkway all year round, especially in the summertime.

The coastal walkway is amazing..about 12km stretch and few nice sculptures to see. People walk, run and cycles and no conflict. Wide enough for everyone.

One of the highlights of New Plymouth. Follows the beautiful rugged coastline to Bell Block. Best on a bike unless you want to kill a whole day walking it’s length. Plenty to see and do on the way. Lots of highlights.

It's exactly what you'd expect. Lovely views of the sea and a well maintained walk way. The docks and plentiful seating make it even more enjoyable.

Really nice to walk or bike, amazing ocean views the whole way! Very easy walk or bike, too. For added excitement, do the walk or bike on a really windy day! The waves break right up against the walkway! And, the street art is really nice

Pleasant grassed area and playground between St Albans St and the railway line and Coastal Walkway. There is a car park and public toilets nearby.

Go for nice long walk along this great pathway that wraps around the coast of New Plymouth. Coffee stops. Water stations. Parks. Seats. Lots of things to see and do. And it's free. Watch out for the occasional cyclist or skateboarder and you will be right. However the walkway is really wide. Plenty of space for everyone. Kids family pets. Just make sure you clean up after yourselves.

8 - 10 km's of spacious walkway. Shared well by pedestrians and cyclists alike. Amazing artworks and views along the way. Fab kids' playgrounds and historic sites too.

Love the views but cyclists can be way to fast when we walking with children, the path is not big enough for walkers to share with cyclists in my opinion it's an accident waiting to happen, but view is to die for

Nice, relaxing vibe. Overlooking onto the open coast, perfect for anyone who likes to walk, run, bike, skateboard. Lots of benches along the walk to take a break or have a little snack. Can be quite windy so bring a jacket. No shelter as well so not ideal on rainy days.

An incredible chance to take a look at the coastal side of Taranaki. Breath taking veiws, a glimpse at the surf and great for the outdoor type. Family walks, friendly jogs, competitive bike rides, all sorts of possibilities at the amazing coastal walkway.

A cycle track along the sea line extending into farmlands, makes it a great experience. The track is mostly plain and fun to cycle around. A must do when you are in town.

Enjoyable well designed walkway located along the foreshore of New Plymouth city. Dotted with interesting sculptures and other artworks, what better way to enjoy the outdoors, while taking in the scenery of the coastal views. This is a great area to explore either by foot, scooter or cycle. Ideal on a sunny day. Don't leave town without exploring at least some of the boardwalk.

Be careful not to be run over by bicycles but the scenery is out standing. Was disappointed the whales weren't at harbor that day. Boats, ships, beautiful sea, warm wind sheild in places

This must be one of the best walkways and scenery facilities in the world, just an amazing design and construction with so many uses for all the ages young through to old. Good wide pathway with awesome views, beaches and mountain backdrop. Convenient to some cafes and you can walk, run, scate board, cycling (although shouldn't be used for training cyclists way too dangerous) and great for people with a lesser degree of mobility. Really is a must experience for any visiting or living in Taranaki.

And peaceful place to sit down 👇 take time have a relaxing time before you may have to go back to work and back home. How can this not be 5 star this makes our town what it is. Best way for travelling via skateboard, bike, legs. Very clean and smooth footpath. Quite great distance skating the entire walkway awesome fun! I would even say i use this most days

Great views, easy access to New Plymouth, lovely fauna and flora. There are fascinating sculptures, and the information boards and signage are frequent and helpful. We also passed two children's playgrounds and two sets of public toilets in a relatively short walk, as well as a seasonal café. Couldn't ask for more from a coastal path!

Easy access from the city CBD, easy walking along the foreshore. Offering great seascapes onto the North Taranaki Bight. Ample seating is available to permit a relaxing view of the Tasman Sea or just carry on walking - your choice! Great fresh sea air.

Excellent place to walk, run, cycle, scooter, mobility scooters, and skate boarding plus many other modes of small transport for this ever expanding walkway with a variety of hills and low areas, along the coastline of New Plymouth from the port to Bell Block and to be extended to waitara,( I think).

A beautiful walk along the occasionally wild foreshore in New Plymouth. Typical west coast beach - larger waves, sometimes windy, awesome seascape. There are benches and other amenities along the way and the CBD is nearby when you've had enough and just want a coffee.

An award-winning coastal walk at New Plymouth. You can walk the entire 12.7km but we started from the iconic Wind Wand (a dramatic 48-metre kinetic sculpture made to design by Len Lye) and walked all the way to Te rewa rewa Bridge (another iconic dinosaur bone looking scuplture/bridge across the Waiwhakaiho River) and back. We enjoyed the stroll and took us about 2 hr and 30 min return trip but it was pretty flat and easy walk. The path is also suitable for cyclist, runners and skating. We also found out that it is possible to rent a scooter for free from the Todd Energy Aquatic Centre!We managed to catch an amazing sun set on our way back and saw the Wind Wand lit up. Along the coast you will see long stretches of black sand beach, surfers, dogs and others just enjoying the walk. Stop along the way and just watch the waves crash. The people staying around this coastal walk is so lucky to have this right at their backyard. Aside from the central town (where the wind wand starts) there isn't food or drinks or shelter along the way, so bring along a bottle of water and an umbrella!

I wouldn't mind a dollar for every kilometer I've walked on this world-class pathway. Got 20 minutes? Walk it. Got three hours. Walk it. Or bike. Or run. Or take the dog. Or sit down for coffee. Spectacular views of the ever-changing Tasman Sea. Highly, highly recommended.

Paradise....we live in such a beautiful city!! BUT poor prior town planning thought Centre City mall, a carpark building and industrial spaces like Bunnings should occupy the best seaview locations!! These prominant waterfront areas need redeveloping. Trees, box plantings for asthetics, shade, grassy and cobbled areas for seating to encourage family friendly gourmet restaurants, café, elfresco dining, alternate and food trucks particularly to take advantage of the balmy summer evenings. How about it NPDC!!

As usual this Coastal Walk Way is equipped with benches, tables, sports facilities, deck chairs, places to live where you can restore or just refresh with a drink or ice cream. Open to walkers and cyclists it allows you to go to the beaches monitored by the Life Guards. She takes you to Waiwhakaiho Park and East End Point and City Wiew. Anecdote you will discover Paris Plage and its armchairs. You can also admire the view of Mount Taranaki where there are great hikes to do. (Original) Longue balade le long du littoral de New Plymouth au bord de la mer de Tasmanie. Comme d'habitude cette Coastal walk Way est équipée de bancs, tables, installation sportives, chaises longues, lieux de vie où vous pouvez vous restaurez ou bien simplement vous rafraîchir avec une boisson ou une glace. Ouverte aux promeneurs et aux cyclistes elle vous permet de vous rendre sur les plages surveillées par les Life Guards. Elle vous emmène jusqu'au Parc Waiwhakaiho et l'Est End Point and City Wiew.
