Reviews of Bay Of Islands
A three-hour drive north of Auckland, the beautiful Bay of Islands is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the country. More than 144 islands dot the glittering bay, making it a haven for sailing and yachting.
Penguins, dolphins, whales, and marlin live in these fertile waters, and the region is a popular sport-fishing spot. Visitors can sea kayak along the coast, hike the many island trails, bask in secluded coves, tour Cape Brett and the famous rock formation called Hole in the Rock, and explore subtropical forests where Kauri trees grow. The quaint towns in the area such as Russell, Opua, Paihia, and Kerikeri are great bases for exploring this scenic bay.
Great restaurants. Amazing waterfront. Don’t come though because we like it best when it’s quiet 🤫😂
It’s my birthday home very good place to relax and enjoy and you can have lots of fun with friends and family 😊😊😊
Gorgeous and friendly place for families! Excellent weather in January, we enjoyed stopping by on our way to Cape Reinga! Highly recommend!
Ready to pack up and move here once I win the lotto. The lifestyle and sights are fantastic. The locals are warm and welcoming. I'm in love with the area. You get the full New Zealand experience here. If I lived here I would never have the itch to travel again.
A very nice place to visit. . we were here in 2007, a boat is what you have to do here. dolphins along the boat. a lunch on an island. is special. i loved it .. just do it.. The Bay of Islands is a New Zealand enclave encompassing more than 140 subtropical islands next to the country's North Island. It’s known for its undeveloped beaches, big-game fishing and Maori cultural artefacts. It's also home to the 19th-century whaling port of Russell, whose waterfront promenade is lined with remnants from its days as the country’s first colonial capital.
Beautiful scenery, warm friendly people

The Bay of Islands is one of New Zealand's most spectacular destinations to visit year round. Its sheltered waters make it the perfect place to view a variety of marine life, including dolphins, whales and seals. Regarded as the birthplace of New Zealand, the region affords a unique insight into early European settlement and Māori culture, making a visit to the Bay a must-do on any New Zealand itinerary.
The Bay of Islands has a long, fascinating and often wild history. Once a booming, bustling and bawdy seafaring centre, it’s now a peaceful and pristine spot, and offers the perfect base for exploring Northland.

(Translated) The Bay of Islands is known as the second bluest place in the world, after Rio de Janeiro. As the name suggests, the Bay of Islands has many islands, with as many as 144 natural islands. It is a 3-hour drive from Auckland or a 35-minute flight by plane; Island Bay is rich in marine ecology, and tourism purposes include Maori culture (the place where the Huaidangyi Treaty was signed), water sports, Shenmu Asia Thermal Rainforest Ecological Trail, aerial tours...etc. . The four main cities in the Bay of Islands are Opua, Paihia, Russell, and Kerikeri: the main tourist attraction is to take a boat from Paihia to Russell; it is mainly docked at HOLE IN THE ROCK to see marine ecology and geology, and New Zealand's first Russell, the capital, and then back to Paihia, on the boat, there is still a chance to see dolphins jumping in groups. When you come here, be sure to stay at least one night for the cruise experience, you can also go canoeing, walk on the island, and visit Kuri redwood in Opua

(Translated) The bay is only at its most beautiful when you really take the time for it. On the one hand, you can explore the individual bays on the rugged coast away from Hwy 11 or you can kayak directly onto the water. Simply rent a kayak in Paihia and drive to Motuarohia Island. It is very likely that you will encounter dolphins. The island itself is picturesque and can easily be done in one day.
(Original)

(Translated) Very interesting landscape.
A distinction is made between islands (with vegetation) and rocks (without vegetation) in the bay. And there are many islands and even more rocks.
Very nice area worth visiting.

Landschaftlich sehr interessant.
