One of the most stunning approaches in the world. Nestled between the Remarkables and lake Wakatipu making for a very scenic landing and takeoff. Its a busy little airport but has everything you need & the staff were great.

What an experience we had today, we needed to check in an oversized bag which we'd never done before so we asked one of the Air New Zealand staff for help. They directed us in what to do and where to go so we took the bag to the oversize bag drop and the 3 staff members on that desk were very friendly and helpful and gave good advice for the next time we do the same process. From there we proceeded to the normal bag drop and the staff there were pleasant and made the process very streamlined. After that we went through security and the staff there were also very friendly and helpful. The entire process from check in to boarding was brilliant. They definitely had the A team on today 11/3/22.

Queenstown International Airport is quite nice considering that Queenstown isn't even big enough to be called a city. This town has an urban population of less than sixteen thousand people according to my telephone. And my telephone sees all and knows all. The arrival is quite scenic. We flew down next to some very scenic mountains (see the pictures I included with this review). The runway is a bit short. Our Boeing 737 / 800 needed the entire runway to come to a stop. We deplaned via a movable stairway, but I didn't expect a jetway at a small town airport. There were efficient procedures at immigration so that process went reasonably quickly. The terminal was clean and nicely designed. I was impressed. Four days after I wrote the stuff above, I am sitting in the Queenstown Airport because my flight out was canceled. Why? Because the aircraft that was going to take me and my group to Rotorua was unable to land here. Remember, four paragraphs ago, I mentioned that our aircraft needed the entire length of the runway to come to a stop? It appears that when the weather is windy and gusty, as it often is in Queenstown Airport which sits at the confluence of three valleys and is surrounded by very high mountains with rocks in them, it's very difficult to land and take off. I looked it up. Queenstown has only one paved runway, and it's the minimum length possible for commercial passenger aircraft. Queenstown is a popular tourist destination. They can't do much about the mountains, but they should consider lengthening and widening the runway. Tourism is a major industry in New Zealand. I hope that the government isn't waiting for a crash of an airliner before investing in improvements to the airport.

Services are great. Little to no waiting times. Easy to find where you are going; very well signposted. Excellent access to the city centre. Ubers are not allowed inside the airport which is disappointing, but you can walk outside to get one.

The airport is a window to the beauty of queenstown. It lived up to the high expectations people had built before we visited. The flight was a little turbulent but you get to see the huge mountain range, and the beautiful city within them. As we landed, we were welcomed by rain, cool winds, clouds and green mountains. Small airport, but good to buy trinkets. Have a coffee, chill and relax while your bags turn up. Very systematic airport, well labelled and well handled. No hassles.

We flew down from Christchurch to Queenstown it took just 40 minutes flying time... immediately we came out.... Very quick it w Now going back from Queenstown to Auckland.... Very small but quick.

The view is amazing from the airport. It is newly renovated- the parent's room was new and clean. I have a toddler and she enjoyed playing with a bumblebee and ambulance ride near the boarding gate. There was also a TV to keep kids entertained. It is a very small airport and there are only two restaurants to choose from but we enjoyed the food in one of them.

Small airport, easy to navigate, breathtaking views. Car rental and baggage claim are a few seconds walk from the gate. Not many food options, but the Airspresso restaurant in the arrivals area is pretty good.

GREAT AIRPORT For me, even though this airport not as big as other country airport but it’s clean, new and it’s hustle free. All staffs are friendly. They show me how to take a bus to the city and where should I buy the ticket. This airport located around 6 km from the city. Once you go outside, there’s one bus stop and the bus will take you directly to the city centre. Regarding the bus ticket.. you can buy the ticket with the bus driver. The bus will stop at every bus stops , it takes around 35-40 minutes to reach our hotel ( Crown plaza hotel) at the city . So planned accordingly if you wanna take this bus back to the airport.

Its everything you would expect from a New Zealand's domestic airport, very clean and everything runs pretty much like clockwork, there are designated bus terminals not far from the exits, you have to pay for parking and there are paypoints as you reach the parking area coming from the exit, overall very impressed.

I work as a local guide and this airport is generally well-organized. The take-off and landing are among some of the most beautiful in the world. However, the help desk inside the airport needs improving. I come to pick up tourists often and I always print out the welcome sign at the desk with a small fee. But today I came only to be told that they couldn’t help. When I tried the explain that I do this often, the lady at the desk said that they’d only do it under special circumstances, which basically means that they’d only do it when they feel like to.

It's a relatively small airport compared to the other bigger cities in NZ. It has the right amount of stores to go to if you wanna eat or get souvenirs or knick knacks. There's no tarmac so you'd have to use the stairs to go up and down the plane, but I dont mind because you will get an awesome view of the magnificent mountains.

Nice little airport with plenty of shops to pick up a few present before heading away including Patagonia Chocolates. The drop off zone was recently done up so it looks nicer now.

Clean airport. Only problem I had was catching the taxi to my venue where they charged surcharge immediately of $8... By the time you actually leave the airport the meter will be up to $14 lol. The surrounding mountains though will help ease the expensive costs. Otherwise get ready to enjoy the beautiful scenery if you love huge picturesque mountains etc etc

Small airport that handles a lot of domestic passengers which is currently being refurbished. There are modern check in facilities where you simply insert your passport and hey presto answer a couple of questions then it prints out your boarding card. There are a couple of cafés plus a few shops. There are plenty of seats available if the airport is not too busy. Nearly forgot to mention but there is a small charging area in the departure area.

awesome small airport, really modern. security quick and easy. departure lounge food a bit stuck for choice. only real problem is that there are no air bridges to get to the aircraft. you have to go air side and walk to the plane, and climb the stares to the plane. its not a big issue as you get to see parts of the plane you don't normally see!!

Welcome to the adventure capital of the world!!! I just couldn't wait to land in Queenstown and start all my crazy adventures! As soon as you walk out from the Arrivals section, you have the AJ Hackett bungy poster luring you to do it! Crazy if you do, crazy if you don't! :) There are many kiosks here from where you can book your scenic flights to Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound.

The airport is very cosy.The check in is very traditional and is very crowded especially people that are coming from domestic flights.The security was ok, immigration was fast and at the gate lounge there wasn’t enough things to occupy and the wifi keeps cutting off.Toilets are clean and new.

The vivid yet distant memory of international travel hunkering down at the airport for 6.5 hours, could not even go on a standby flight at running the risk of losing your your original seat flying back home on the day of Level 4 lockdown....flights were chock-a-block...oh the joys of Covid 🤔

Flying into queenstown with a window seat is spectacular. If you happen to have a window seat that is. On arrival into the airport the baggage area is easy to find and the airport was very tidy. The airport is the first point of contact for me upon entering queenstown and it was a great experience. I was really pleased with the remarkable scenery and the snow capped mountains. The taxi's and buses were also very accessible and I did not have amy problems with arriving and leaving the airport. Thank you queenstown airport and the staff that work there.

Although it's relatively small, it has all the facilities you'd expect from a larger airport, it's like a mini version of a large airport. It's clean, tidy and contemporary enough for its purpose. I like the fact that it still has a water fountain providing "free" water, near the entrance to the toilets, rather than banks of vending machines selling bottled water at some other airports. Drinking fountains tend to be more environmentally friendly, regardless of good intentions to recycle.

Not much here and the car hire returns are not clearly signposted. Only 2 places to eat and nothing after security so make sure you eat before you go through.

Lovely airport, staff there very helpful when my 81 year old Mum came to visit from the states. Shade trees in the parking area would be a good addition as we had to leave our dogs in the car and there were no shaded areas. Otherwise really lovely friendly airport.

A small but beautiful airport that is clean and tidy overlooking lush scenery. Has direct flights to Sydney which is a great plus so we can travel non-stop to reach my favourite city in the world. It may be cold in the winter, but the mountains and scenery are beautiful. The only downside is the limited shops on airside. There is only a small shop which was out of a fair bit of stock, the duty free and a paper plus.

Tiny, contemporary airport just a 10 minute drive from the centre of town. I did a web check-in, but processing times were super-quick (~5 mins to pass from the entrance to the departure terminal). Top staff. Signages to gates could be improved a little bit, but a great experience otherwise.

Funny thing to watch when some passengers wanted to take pictures as soon as they got off the plane but the airport staff not letting them do, maybe they wanted people out of the runway as soon as possible. So this is a caution for the others visiting the airport for the first time.

Easy to get to , most things clearly marked for taxis shuttles etc , food expensive , many Asians coughing , blowing nose & sneezing without putting their hand over their mouths and they generally never wash their hands after using the bathroom. Getting through customs was mostly self explanatory. Has normal inside stuff...but outside view is amazing. It was just the most stunning view when you walk off the airplane.

This airport is one of my favorites for 3 reasons: 1. Easy to get to and you only need to check in 30 minutes in advance. 2. Gorgeous views while waiting. Stunning point of arrival if coming from overseas. 3. Public transport only a few feet from the front door. This airport is small in size but very efficient, handling upwards of 2 million visitors a year with NO night operations. Hours vary according to the season (due to twilight navigation restrictions) Was 5 stars however the recent removal of a curbside drop off and pick up point is NOT a step in the right direction. Forcing everyone to park in the lot wastes paper and electricity and is challenging for some. Not sure why the change was made, but so far I'm not in favor of it.

There's bus route 1 that takes you to downtown Queenstown for 10 NZD. If you wanna save on your expenses just walk for 15 min to Frankton junction and suddenly the fare drops to 5 NZD (or 2 with a GoCard).

It's a small airport with relatively few flights and not a lot in the way of airport infrastructure. However there were a number of restaurants and shops. Security was a breeze but there are no jet ramps to the planes. Boarding and deplaning requires a walk on the tarmac.

I'm guessing baggage handlers at either Queenstown Airport or Wellington don't grab luggage bag by the handle, it's second luggage bag I found damaged after a flight. This time inside liner is ripped I'm assuming they picked it up not using the handle and weight has caused it to tear
