C.Favourite Southland pub! Varied menu, week day specials too! The blue cod fish and chips are the best! Steak not bad either. Beer is cold! Even on a winter's day when the fire is going - it's a pretty great place to stop in for a drink and something to eat!
L.I was pleasantly surprised with this tavern. Excellent food and at a real decent price. The mussels were plentiful, super fresh and tasty, the venison burger was banging and fish bites and chips, solid. Plus they have pool and cornhole. A win!
J.Burger was nice so I’ll give that 3 stars, the pizza was disgusting probably the worst pizza I’ve ever had in my life. The chips was not good either so much pepper but no salt? Accomodation 50/50 the rooms was fine but the facilities was dirty and seems like nobody has ever cleaned up there. The smell of the mens bathroom was pee so I had to use the ladies bathroom. I hate giving reviews like this but the owners really need to make some big improvements to this place if they want it to be successful in the future.
S.The tavern was awesome. 5 out of 5. Great staff, excellent food, not too expensive.
However the camp grounds are run down. Yes was cheap to stay. Lock has been removed from the female showers and toilets. I ended up having no shower as just a shower curtain, so any one could come in. It was raining inside the toilet.
l.Good honest food and what a plate full, well priced. Cold beer and accommodating staff. Will certainly be back for more of the same 👍
J.Stopped in for a late lunch on a Sunday. It was quiet at the time. Staff were very friendly. Our meals were served quickly and they were huge. Extremely well priced. We would definitely come back again.
E.Great place with very helpful publican who assisted in detaching the awning from our campervan. Two ladies in dire straights... recommend the menu of fresh blue cod cooked by the publucan as well. What a multitasker. Needless to say we stayed overnight in the campground next door. Plan to return
C.Brilliant wee pub in the middle of nowhere. Blue cod was so good my sister drove me all the way from Invercargill Airport. Plus this place goes off on a Saturday night. Highly recommend

L.Went on a Western Southland reminiscing tour on a significant birthday recently. Got the oysters at the Tavern, they were AWESOME, if you are in Southland, you MUST go here. Plenty of parking, nice atmosphere, and the food was great

N.Te Araroa trampers get a good deal at their campground. It's the last place for NoBo's to get a good feed before heading into the mountains, until you reach Birchwood Station.

K.We landed at the Colac Bay Tavern for Burger Night (Thursday evening). Several burgers on offer, all looked yummy. The food in general all looked good. Good service and good value. On a nice day, the outdoor area looked inviting. We will visit again during our stay nearby.

R.Never know this place to be so busy. Typical old style New Zealand pub and that in itself makes a stop here worth while. Good menu with a wide selection, delivered to your table hot and well cooked by great staff. Reasonable selection of wines, beers and spirits to satisfy everyone.
K.Great small town NZ pub. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and a great stop off during a roadie. Cross cut fries went down a treat for lunch. Worth a stop..... Also heard they do great fish and chips

M.Great food as always, huge portions and prompt service. This was the ‘Sunday funday’ $20 Sausage egg and chips. A little bit sad though, that they have gotten rid of their malt vinegar off the tables, it was the only place locally where this British Ex pat could get chips with salt AND vinegar. 😭

L.Stayed at the campground for one night in a tent. The campground is right beside the motorway so it is very noisy at night. I woke up too many times because of the cars driving by. Facilities are alright, the kitchen was clean, everything is pretty old but that's the price you pay. Very cheap so it's a great option if you're just looking for a place to pitch your tent. The showers were great and are included in the price of the campground. We paid $25 for two people for one night.

C.Last month, I was there with my family and we did enjoy a lot at this Colac Bay Holiday Park. My son was very excited as well as my mom. We had a great time along with some great foods. For me, this is the best place to get accommodation if you are visiting Colac Bay in the contemporary times.
C.Amazing comfortable accommodation Colac Bay that took my breath away!! I actually thought that it would be a simple staying place like the ones I have stayed in earlier times. However, when I first entered the room I was really mesmerized by its indoor designing. The hotel is also located in an excellent setting that will make you stay here for a longer time than you have planned previously.

E.Marvellous. Best rural pub we have visited in NZ. Great family atmosphere. Best times. Special evenings include "thirsty Thursday" and "toss the boss " (the toss of a coin to decide the price you pay!!)
M.Great place for the family. Wazza and Becs have put up a swimming pool, built a mini golf course, there's a trampoline and sandpit, plus you can hire kayaks, surf boards and boogie boards to take down to the beach. There are cabins, tent sites and powered caravan sites, the meals at the pub are excellent and reasonably priced, kids menu as well.

s.Heart of the small Colac Bay community. Always provide shelter and morning tea after Anzac parade, great hosts to many Colac Bay events. Superb meals. Mini golf, swimming pool, camping, accommodation, surf board hire ...the list goes on.
