Absolutely amazing. The young Maori girl on reception was absolutely beautiful and so very helpful. I would recommend this place to everyone. Can't wait to go back and go into the beautiful looking pools and have a stone massage. Loved it...

Amazing place! A must do in Taupo. All the pools are different temperatures which is really great. Large pools so you never feel crowded. Highly recommend.

We stayed around the corner and went to Wairakei Terraces twice. First day we enjoyed the pool then the second day we decided to do the hīkoi. The hīkoi is beautiful. You can take as song as you want. We took longer than we had planned.

Awesome place to relax. Beautiful hot pools. Super hot actually. Adults only is a must. No shower available in level 2, but they recommend take a shower after 4 hours later (I didn’t know that). Ho and enjoy this place!

Absolutely stunning place. Can not wait to return. As a person who is an avid hot tub goer. This was everything I would want and need in a hot pool. Such a pretty place and so comfortable. Enough room for everyone and multiple different pools. I have recommended it to so many people and have heard nothing but positive feedback in return.

Adults only. Very relaxing soak in geothermal mineral waters of varying temperatures. You need to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Very enjoyable. I reccomend you finish off with a fresh fruit icecream in the cafe afterwards!

Awesome place to relax. Beautiful hot pools with real thermal mineral hot water flowing aside and making waterfalls. It would be nicer if there are showers in the change rooms, more shelter over the pools against the sun in summer, thermometers showing the temperature of the pools.

Did a couples relaxing massage. Great staff, nice, clear, and respectful instructions, good handling of covid protocols. So relax there was definitely some snoring happening 😂 the setting for the couples massage was awesome, outside in a separate little hut...super peaceful!

Both me and my partner went. I am 35weeks pregnant an was happy when Izzy was able to provide me with a relaxing massage. Was just what I needed she knew what she was doing wish I could have stayed there all day! Highly recommend if you are pregnant and need a good relaxing massage it’s well worth it! The lady is lovely an very informative. My husband had the sport deep tissue massage given by Marie he loved his experience an was well relaxed afterwards two very happy 😊 customers Thank you

Wonderful way to spend an hour or two after an active week!

We went at 12pm to kill time before check in and stayed for 2 hours. Beautiful water and very relaxing. Staff are super super friendly. I used the GrabOne offer and paid $15.00 p/p (2x adults) as opposed to $25.00. Good changing rooms. They have towels and swimwear for hire and water bottles for sale. Different temps in the different pools but it was all so lovely.

Never a disappointment here! Recommend buying the grab one for $15 to save $10!!

We did the walk around the terraces and grounds. Enjoyable and interesting, really liked the story attached to the key points of the walk.

Amazing place. Very happy we have purchased not just pools but a walk around also. It's a very beautiful place and we have a very pleasant walk. Remember to take a bottle of water for swim in a pools (there are 3 of them) so you would be able to spend more time and don't get dehydrated, it worth it!

We got the grabone promo for the thermal pool entry. Entry is on sale for 15 dollars via grabone but regular entry fee for the pool is 25. The pool is for adult only but there is a walk around the hot pools that kids can do with adults. You will have to pay another fee for the walk entrance. They have 4 pools with different temperature. There is a cafe in the entrance of the place if you want to grab a quick snack. Bring your own towels and water.

A bit out of the way but definitely worth the drive. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The walk offers reasonably priced glimpse into Māori history and look at the geothermal chaos going on in the area. The pools are awesome as well. Some hot, some hotter and some just right.

Friendly service, affordable prices, cultural experiences and amazing thermal hot pools; what else could one possibly wish for? Wairakei Terraces is a must-visit relaxation spot in Taupo. Everything from the walk to the spa to even little conversations shared with staff and other customers are memorable and therapeutic.

It's a short easy walk, the terraces are still growing using the leaf litter as a base substrate to cling to. Very impressive geyser but hidden within the steam. Polarizing glasses definitely help to see it

The spa side is really fantastic. Side note, watch your hair if it's long, it'll get damaged if soaked and you'll spend days reconditioning. The Maori village was a let down, expected a lot more but there are only a few displays.. itd be really cool if they added more stuff and made it feel like you're walking through an old village. The grounds are extremely tidy and whoever takes care of the trees and shurbs needs an award! The staff were all in good spirits and accommodating. The terraces were quite impressive to see, overall its well worth the money and a nice experience. I'd definitely go back.

It’s great different experience for everyone in the family! It’s clean, quite, and claim bathing environment for adults that is over 14 years old. The adults definitely could find some peaceful and relaxing here! For the kids, they could explore the trail and Maori village nearby. The whole trail is very easy for all age groups. The Maori village is very quiet and plenty to see and explore. My kids loved it and took three rounds before they got tired! The only cons is that the water is different from the Polynesian Spa. Based on the feedback from my group, they didn’t got the feeling of smooth touching on their skin after bathing, the water is a bit more like regular house bath water. However We could see the water is directly from the geyser, maybe just different minerals.

Not as intimate as expected but still a very lovely space to relax and chill, pools at different temperatures with some areas hotter than others. Seating in the pools is decent but uncomfortable if you try to rest your head. Overall highly recommend, the place is clean, tidy and is one of the better thermal pools I have been too.

Amazing!! It was so peaceful and such a beautiful view. The staff are hands down amazing. So friendly, helpful and such a laugh. I would absolutely recommend these beautiful pools. My aches and pains are all gone and for once in a very long time, I can bend without pain. Love it and best part is no kids so its nice a quiet.

Lovely peaceful soak in the hot pools in the late afternoon on a cold autumn day with bush surrounding. Three different pools with different temperatures to move between. Nice blue coloured water. Unfortunately can't see too much of the terraces from the pools themselves, but they flow into the top pool. One pool had a nice waterfall cascading into it, and a bridge you can swim under. Some simple changing rooms on-site, and nice covered stands around the place to hang or put belongings..

Staff greeted us as we walked to reception. changing room Facility's were clean & tidy. Had multiple area to hang up towels and leave belonging where you could see them while you are in the pools. The pools themselves were exactly how I imagined they were and we're exactly as pictured on the website. The pools were all clean and very warm but just the right temperature where you could just sit down and relax. Will definitely be going to these pools again and 100% recommend them 🙂

Lovely place. Best to come here in the morning when no ones around yet. Gets busy later. 3 different pools with different temperatures, even a little waterfall. There are changing rooms and showers. Is not a big place but is not meant to be for swimming or water sports, just to relax. There are little grass areas, so you can take a sunbath or cool down. Enjoyed my time here.

It was amazing, the pools were spectacular and so relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful, definitely worth a visit and is the perfect way to end the day.

The actual pools were lovely. Plus the fact that it was adults only was an added bonus. However, there was absolutely no shade in the pools. No shade cloths, no special areas to sit under to hide yourself from the sun. There were a few trees growing on the side of the pools, some which had small branches that grew over the pools. But these were not sufficient shade. I have been to many pools before that have whole pools that are in the shade. Given that the minerals in these pools washed off my factor 50 sunblock in 30 mins, I was sunburnt very badly by the end of my 2 hour stint in the pools. It such a shame that they haven't considered shade, as this would vastly improve enjoyment of the pools for many people.

Amazing place to go and relax especially after a long set of holidays with 11plus children at home. I think its a great idea that its for 14years plus to swim. Perfect price for what you get even better price when i used grab one. This is my new "mums time out" and will do the travel from Napier as often as possible. Staff are friendly and helpful alway havjng a smile on there face. Beautifully kept grounds with a beautiful walk to enjoy before or after your relaxed swim. Stunning place for a relaxing soak. Great facilities, clean and well maintained. It's lovely to move around the 4 different pools, all with different temperatures.

Beautiful! Listening to the birds in the trees. Unwinding in the therapeutic water. Lovely and relaxing for adults. You have to be 14+ to enter. The hot pools are different temperatures so you can go from the coolest to the hottest or vice versa. Or pick your temperature and stay there. The changing rooms are clean and there are lockers and benches with hooks to put your stuff. There is a small cafe too with plenty of outdoor seating. The staff are all pleasant and helpful. Will come back again!

Great activity to experience. Nice setting, large pools. A unique experience, well worth doing. Was expecting pools to be more secluded and spread out, but they are nice large pools with different temperatures and levels. Entrance toilets need a refurb and changing room toilet and shower needs a review to complete the experience to an international level. (A 'Lost Spa'-type Pool-side bar would be awesome too)

Wow the water is fantastic from warm to hot as you go around the different pools and there's a beautiful waterfall with lovely hot water following from it . So relaxing I'll be going back there for sure. There is also a walk you can do which you pay for as a extra but I didn't do it this time but am looking at going back to do the walk and of course go back into the pools, I can't wait.

Great place to relax, got voucher of bookme so it was half price. Staff are not friendly, confusion re booking service on arrival. Cafe closed, no instructions on facilities or not to put your head under the water from staff member at desk or how to use lockers. Recommended to take water in with you, pools are really hot. No food allowed at pools. Loved the pools no kids

Wow, what an experience. Lived in New Zealand all my life, been to Taupo on many occasions, never been to Wairakei Terraces. I missed out! What an awesome place. Did the walk, while a little on the pricey side $15) did not really mind as I enjoyed the 20 minute walk so much. They have done a great job with this. After the walk did the hot pools. Wow!! So nice, did the bottom pool first (2nd hottest) and then tried the top pool (hottest at 40° plus). Only stayed in 15 minutes but was so good. Then went to the middle pool (coolest) for a wind down before ending back at the bottom pool for a soak under the waterfall. Such a lovely experience, place was fairly full. Definitely be back, my skin and body loved it so much.

Gorgeous place for a soak. Great pool temperatures too. It was pouring with rain when we went today but still had a great time. Pools seemed very clean other than a few leaves and foliage from the wind and rain. Would love to come back another day.

One of my favourite hot springs to visit. We grabbed a coupon for $15 each, stays open until 9pm with 4 different pools in its natural beauty. Favorite is sitting under the waterfall getting a massage by the water with hot steaming mineral waters. Skin feels nourished.

Beautiful mineral springs with complete facilities. New and clean, relax for holiday. You can find cheaper price with discount 50% on bookme website, around 12.5$ for public pools. The staff is so nice with good service. Coffee and simple food are at the door. Be quiet and relax to kill time on work day. The local Maori madam I met in the pool told me it is same as Miranda around Auckland. Sorry I missed it as I have to catch time to Wellington. It's a pity the fresh ice cream was sold out. It' worth to come back next time. Thanks.

Someone decided to recreate the lost silica terraces of Rotaroua using the exit water from a geothermal power station. Well worth the visit. The hot pools are also lovely without the usual sulphur smell and without the crowds. The gift shop also has a good selection of sensibly priced greenstone carvings and jewelry. Maori owned and operated so support it.

Made a detour at the end of a road trip to come here specifically and it was worth the extra driving time. The landscaping and atmosphere are super relaxing. The three different pools give a good variety of options for temperatures. Personally I couldn't handle the warmest one for more than a couple of minutes, but the middle temperature was perfect.

Amazing hot pools, Adults only. 4 pools at different temps set in a nice garden environment. Recommend scuffs as you have to walk some way to the pools.

I used the thermal pools with my ailing mother. A short walk down to the pools. The ramps were great, no stairs that I remember apart from the ones getting into the water but they had good hand rails. A few different temp pools to choose from. I would suggest you take a packed lunch and make a day of it as entry cost wasn't as cheap as I expected

Very enjoyable. There are 4 pools. 3 are fairly warm and pleasant. The 4th is quite hot but bearable. Pools wernt busy and reasonably clean compared to others.

Love this spot! So relaxing and amazing for your skin. The staff are always friendly and kind. My favourite place to go in Taupo. Make sure to take a drink bottle, though water is sold on the premises if you forget.

Loved the pools, hated the long hard cold pathway. The walk was rather ho-hum too, not worth paying for unless you want to see a few carvings and Māori food storage areas.

Whatever temp u like this amazingly beautiful natural spot has a pool for you. kind of an intimate feel with interconnecting pools and little waterfall. Hottest pool is up top. Was 43° when we hopped in. Nice friendly warden checks water temps and on everyone regularly. I will be going back!!

It's OK I guess, but for the same price (40$) you can find better and much longer trail walks in the neighbourhood. The terraces look cool though.

I love this place! Return again and again. Blue selica water has different temperature in different basins. The pool is good for swimming. There are not many people which makes the atmosphete cozy and relaxed. Walk around the park before entering the pools and you'll see the powerfull geyser and natural terraces.

You don't want to miss visiting Wairakei Terraces when you are travelling to Taupo on the North Island of New Zealand. It is cheap and you can get good deals on grabone. There are different pools with natural hot water and changing rooms and lockets. Cat park is also provided for free. They are located about 10 minutes on state highway 1 from Taupo Town centre. Beautiful surroundings. Quiet with just soft voices as people converse with each other without having to talk above the noise of children. An ideal place to retreat for an hour or two from the demands of children as children are not allowed. One can just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet of this special place while the body soaks up the warmth of these pools.

The best geothermal hot pools around - relaxing setting, good variety of pools, well maintained. Don't let the sterile reception and bathrooms put you off these great pools.

Really beautiful baths. The only shame is that you don't get the walk on the same ticket. Would pay slightly more to do both but individually this is overpriced.

The hot pools are lovely, the hottest one can get up to 42 degrees by the wall where the water enters, so it was great and relaxing 😌 bring your own towel. Lockers are $10, but plenty of benches around the pool area to leave your bags and towels .

Really nice setting and hot pools! Nice variety of temperature with a few separate tiers. $25 is a fair price but at the same time me and my partner went twice in one weekend which equals $100 for a couple of warm soaks.. You can actually get cheaper entry via grab one or booking.com etc.. But we weren't onto it until we had already paid full price. Definitely a nice setting to unwind and unlike chemically treated pools, your skin feels nice/clean/normal when you put your clothes back on without having to rinse off under the shower at the end of your session. Recommend the experience.

We made a day of it and had a great experience. A big shout out to Hoani who hosted us with exceptional and genuine service. We booked a massage and also did the walk along with the pools. The walk and history of this site is interesting and tells a bit of our history. The water is therapeutic and we both noticed positive effects on our skin. Beautiful setting and great range of temperatures. The water seems to be mineral from a natural thermal field. Feels great on the skin. Note that you’re paying tourist prices here … $25 per adult. Also, if you’re not swimming you aren’t allowed down by the pools. No spectators.

Amazing place. It's the best hot pools for adults only. I can't recommend this place enough, just make sure to take water to stay hydrated while you're there. There are different heat levels to suit different tolerances. A++++ place.

I always feel like a million bucks after bathing here. It's not too pricey, you can usually get a deal on Grabone. Go during the day if you don't want to go when it's crowded. The weekends are packed. The changing rooms are probably my only gripe. They're very small for the number if people they let in at a time. There has been a line at times of people waiting to change while dripping wet. Regardless, I'll always make a point of going there when I'm in the area.

Absolutely love love love, I have now come 3 times in one week. The colder the day is the better the pools. There is a guy who works here who has amor of knowledge of the place. He's wonderful to listen too

The under water stair is not properly designed which has the health and safety issue. Three of our team had bruise hit by the stair. Three

My fave spa! Pro tip: Grabone iykyk. The spa at Wairakei terraces is out of this world. Consisting of three seperate pools of different temperatures, there’s something for everyone. I have eczema but the minerals at Wairakei heal my eczema every time! The walk is also a must for anyone visiting during daylight hours. It features a geyser and a great rendition of the 8th wonder of the world.

I went with a small group over Easter weekend. We decided to go at night and I'm so glad we did. What a beautiful place. Pools were AMAZING! Staff were super friendly. I would highly recommend to anyone in Taupo. I know we will be back next time.

The best place for hot pools. Thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

Nice short walk, cost $15 for walk and $25 for thermal pools (check bookme, there are up to 50% discount). Walk has mainly one man-made terraces, but looks beautifully on clear sky, when steam is coming from gazer. Thermal pools is great value for price, 4 different pools with different temperature, lot of space, not too crowdy. Only downside, no tap water, but you can buy water at the front. On August, no showers, only cold outside (says “because covid level2”).

Always the best thermal pools we have gone to. NZ wide. Take hotel slippers to avoid cold paths between changing rooms and pools.

Wow, I wish we discovered this place earlier. Pools are amazing, different temperatures and well designed. The only thing we didn't like was the changing room. It was cramped and doesn't match with spacious outside facilities at all. We've been here during long weekend so I can tell people were barely fitting in the ladies changing room. Also, the entry pass is very cheap, maybe they can't afford to renovate it. We were not offered the lockers at the reception, not sure why. Overall, we'll be back for the pools. Try to avoid public holidays!

Likely best man made natural thermal hot pools in the north island. Great outdoor ambiance and enough space even when busy at this very affordable popular spot. Ergonomic well designed comfy seating

Absolutely worth the price! The water is just divine. The walk from and to the change rooms is long (when it's cold) and over rough stones and non slip mats. Take jandals (thongs? Flip-flops?) And some sort of robe to keep warm as you walk down if you go in winter. The change rooms themselves are cramped, open plan things. If you don't like getting changed in front of others then change before you go.

An absolutely excellent experience! Our favourite geo-thermal experience in Taupo (and we did a few). This is children-free which makes it an excellent place for couples and friends. There are various deposits and prices required for towel hire and a locker - our visit cost $75 in total, after - $25 deposit refund for two towels and 1 locker hire. The pools are excellent. They range from 38-degrees to about 40/41 which was total bliss and something for both my partner (who prefers the cooler temperature) and myself. You can opt to hire a locker in the changing rooms, and/or hang towels and belongings on the hooks down by the pools. The several pools are close together so even if your friends have different preferences with water temp, you’re never too far away and it’s really easy to hop in/hop out of pools. It was a stunning environment and we had such a relaxing and ‘zen’ time. There’s also an on-site cafe which offers a large range of drinks as well as soup, toasties, croissants etc. The staff member on the front desk was absolutely brilliant and extremely informative and knowledgeable. Highly recommend - this was our favourite part of our trip in Taupo.

Really nice hot pools with a lovely silky feel to the water. I'm going to get a season pass I think. A cool dunk pool would be a great addition. Not too happy there are no water fountains in the pool area as I thought this would be a safety requirement. There are no official places to fill a bottle even. But you can fill up from the hand basin in the changing room(yuk) or the shower.

It looks amazing, and the hot water relaxes all your muscles. It is a must do in Taupo!

This is a hidden gem in Taupo. I thoroughly recommend coming here to have a soak or a massage, or just to tour the beautiful Terraces. In winter and spring, this place would be particularly magical and active, I imagine. I look forward to finding out on my return visits!!

Brilliant pools and the best part no kids.

The first point of contact wasn't pleasant. Highly impersonal. Told us to get out of the pool half an hour before closing, felt like she was just dying to finish her shift and go home. Not customer oriented. The place itself is very nice though, great pools. However,tThere are not safety signs on the pools indicating depth and temperatures and other safety issues.

Loved these hot mineral spa pools today. Staff were friendly and the pools weren't crowded so it was a very relaxing experience. You can hire towels so that makes popping in really easy too. We got a deal on BookMe so paid $15 each which in comparison to some pools in Rotorua was very cheap. Would recommend you stop here if you are travelling between Taupo and Rotorua.

Great spot to relax and unwind. Awesome atmosphere and facilities. Only comment would be is changing rooms are a decent distance from the pools over stony ground. Suggest bringing sandals along for the walk. Will happily go back!

Wonderful tranquil hot pools. Was impressed with the gardner that stopped to chat and then open the front door back on its catch so an elderly lady could walk through with her rotator frame. Excellent customer relations 😊

Outstanding! Not at all suitable for children but other thermal baths in Taupo are..so think of this as a glorious, peaceful, treat for adults wanting a quiet soak in beautiful surroundings. Very friendly staff and everything spotlessly clean. We visited 3 times during a weeks visit to Taupo. Thank you Wairakei Terraces for a marvellous experience. Best thermal pool experience in NZ in my opinion.

Nice walk around albeit a bit short/fast. Interesting info in hand out. Would love to see more info/signs around to read about different geological happenings and also Maori cultural explanations for those who would not know what the different buildings are etc. Very pleasant and enjoyable visit.

No kids allowed which is great because the water is clean and fresh and it's very peaceful. The pools are all different temperatures and the price is reasonable too. Not too crowded either. But watch your step on the stairs in the pools I saw 5 people trip over on them. It would be good to see these highlighted better for people it seems to be becoming a bit of a hazard.

Amazing place. It seems expensive but is well worth it. 4 pools to choose from 33 to 40 degrees, even a hot water waterfall. Highly recommended.

The healing properties of these pools have been helping my dad out big time. Him and my mum visited wairakei terraces 6 times during winter for days on end. Both of them look better and feel better than ever. Definitely the place to rejuvenate your soul.

Geothermal pools were delightful. Choosing a weekday morning where we were mostly by ourselves was serene and delightful. It wasn't quite as pleasant when we returned on a busy Saturday afternoon. The pools are naturally heated by the geothermal activity, with the water in the upper pools being much hotter than the lower pool. At the time we were there, the lower pool was an extremely pleasant 38 degrees Celsius. The relaxation massage that we purchased after our dip in the pool was one of the best I've had, and I felt it was money well spent.

There's nothing better than a hot soak on a rainy cold night. Don't go expecting resort style amenities, but for the price and experience, it's an easy 5 stars.

Nice place to visit. Only visited the thermal pool. Good but the pool was a bit dirty. I'm not talking about leaves.

Really nice hot pools with the added bonus of kids not being allowed in. I think you need to be 14 to enter. There are 3 pools with a range of temperatures. The hottest when we visited was 38 degrees. You can rent a towel for $15 and when you return it you get $10 back. We used a grabone deal which meant we only paid $15 entry fee instead of $25. There is also a small cafe on site

This is the hot pools of choice if you are anywhere in the north island of NZ. They are adults only though, so for those of you with kids, find a babysitter, don't settle for less. The atmosphere of the pools is great and being adults only means it is very relaxed and even when busy it is not overwhelming. I would recommend these hot pools to any local or person travelling through Taupo.

Smashing place. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. The place was spotlessly clean and the pool were set in charming landscapes. Very reasonably priced as well. We went around 5pm ish when the heat had gone out of the day a little, as there isn't much shade over the pools during peak sunshine hours of the day. From 5pm ish onwards there was sufficient shade for those not so used to the suns heat. Would highly recommend.

Loved this place! The fact that there was no children allowed made for a calm and tranquil soaking experience. The pools are surrounded by greenery and a staff member comes to verify the temperature regularly and asks you how you’re enjoying it. They will also tell you everything you want to know about the mineral content (lithium included- good for relaxation).

The geothermal pools are a fantastic experience. We went at night in winter, with mist filtering through the air, and the cold oitdoor air a great counterpoint to the warm pools. Great combination of cooler and hotter pools, including several waterfall type inlets and interconnected pools. Plenty of places to relax in or partially out of the water, in all we stayed several hours. It wasn’t crowded or too noisy, as the pools are reasonably deep in parts, no under 14s are permitted. Plenty of variety of lighting too - darker corners for more intimate relaxation and better lit areas for conversation or group interaction

Beautiful spot. Love that the location is out of the main township so it's amazingly quiet. Staff are super friendly and the facilities are wonderful and clean. Most of all, we love the fact that it is adults only. As much as we love our kids, it's the best thing ever to be able to have some adult time.

Naturally heated thermal pools in natural outdoor surroundings.The pools are therapeutic and there are 4 pools with varying temperatures,the hottest being 40 degrees.The pools are not overcrowded and I have yet to see children here and I always stop here. This is a relaxing stop over if you are travelling through the north island, I stop here for hour to break journey.changing rooms are basic with shower and water is for sale. At an extra cost you can walk around the thermal area.

Great place, one of the best hot pools in New Zealand. Silica pool smoothen your skin after soak and it felt great! One highlight, a friend left a jacket over night and i left my wallet a few years back, everything were safely returned, they even post my wallet back to Auckland for me a few years back. Highly recommended.

Fantastic, warm and clean facilities. The staff was very friendly and well informed about how the hot pools operated. We had a lovely time bathing and two hours flew by before we noticed!

Excellent retreat day for adults to enjoy. Loved the different temperatures of the pools & moving between areas. Wish there were less gawking tourists looking in on the pools though. Didn't do the walk. Went on the height of summer. Sun block, water bottle & hat needed. Can't wait for a winter retreat. Highly recommended. Looking forward to going soon

An amazing place to be and no children! Peaceful and serene, and the setting is gorgeous. To soak in mineral water at night under a full moon or in the rain is one of my all time favourite things to do. An amazing experience, I never tire of this tranquil place. Thoroughly recommend!

Really enjoyed our time in the hot pools here. We felt that this place has the right relaxing ambience which people look for in the thermal spa. Came as a recommendation from our hosts and can see why. We went to Polynesian Spa a couple of days after visiting this one and were so disappointed with the huge crowds.

Piece of paradise, healing waters, gorgeous pools, awesome staff. The pools are large, some are warmer than others, they are surrounded by nature, and were made very natural looking. A geyser is shooting up from the ground at the top of the terraces and the hot water is flowing into the terraces and pools. The water really has healing power and it charges you with pure good energy. We were pumped the whole day after this experience. I have a bad ankle that gotten worse after the Tongariro hike and it got completely healed in these waters. The pools are gorgeous, the staff is great. Well worth its price. Wonderful experience.

Gorgeous by night, a must visit if you’re in the Taupō area.

I stopped off with the kids for a quick visit on our way into Taupo. As they are young we just did the walk. They were absolutely amazed! They just wanted to get to the resort after a long drive but walked out stokes they had the opportunity to see the Geyser and build up of Silica.

A great little thermal spa with four pools each at different temperatures set in very pleasant gardens. A lovely relaxing spot to spend a couple of hours. Highly recommended.

A great place to just unwind and relax. They have several pools of different temperatures that you can soak in to your pleasure. The bush and nature surrounding the hot springs are well kept and are a delight to be surrounded by. Will definitely stop by again if I'm in the area.

Visit regularly to soak in the pools and I also get a great massage from Marie when my back is sore. I get a great discount for pool entry on GrabOne.

We stopped to view the hot springs and very much enjoyed our self guided tour. We had coffee and a snack, both of which were first rate. We didn't use the spa facilities but definitely will on our next visit!

An interesting walk but sadly the place is fake. Terraces are man-made and steam is piped in from wells next door. It looks like it is still under development but ran short on cash. The pools look like a nice place to soak.

Nice thermal park. The terraces and the spa can be visited separatly. At the end of the terrace walk there is a maori village which you can visit. The terrace walk takes 30min and is pretty impressive. Also the spa is well worth a visit. It is well maintained and clean. It offers towels to rent and has pools with different temperatures.

This is one of my happy places. They normally have a voucher on grabone or book me that gets you a discount. Its easy to find, just next to tge big bp when you leave taupo going north on state highway 1. Parking and access are easy. Changing rooms are great but they are up the top of the complex. Its a good idea to wear shoes you can slip back on with your togs to walk down to pools. Pools vary in temperature and ambiance. With no children allowed it is always very chilled out. The water is rich with silica rather than sulphur, so its better for your skin. I have been in sunshine and hail. Both were awesome.

My favourite place to go and relax. Everytime I visit my mum in rotorua my husband and I will gladly take the hour and a half drive out to soak in the pools. If you go in winter the entire vicinity is basically deserted as it is very very cold in the valley. Very romantic and opened till late

We did both the thermal terraces and massage. The pools were really lovely and clean, great that there are no kids. good variety of temperatures and great for relaxing in. Massages were okay, possibly a little rough but still very nice. Call to book ahead for massages.

Great activity for a slightly rainy winter morning! The water is so hot that a little bit of rain on your face is actually comfortable. They have 3 different levels with 3 different temperatures. You can lock up your valuables inside or just take your bag and towel to the benches and hooks outside. Always worth looking for a deal on GrabOne though. And for the ladies & gentlemen with long hair: tie it up and keep it out of the water! My hair has never been so dried out. I wish someone had warned me!

Nice pools the changing areas are a little low rent.

Very enjoyable outdoor thermal pools in lovely bush like setting alongwith some cascading waterfalls flowing over silica steps. There are 3 pools with differing temperatures to suit your liking. A walkway around the pool area can be added on as an after thermal pool soak.Also not to be missed is an onsite cafe with Berry smoothies and cabinet meals to satisfy your cravings.

I've lived in NZ for 10 years & visited several hot pools but this is my favourite by far. It's man made but seeks to capture the feeling of natural terraces. The end result is lovely and there's a great selection of pools of varying temperatures.

Awesome place one of the best hot mineral pools I have ever been to ,no sulphur smell if that deters you.Hit one was hot but ease yourself into it ,it is great

Terrific spa with multiple pools of varied water temps. Clean facilities and friendly staff. Prices are pretty good, though it would be great if the nature walk was included in the pool entry price.

Good place to relax and spend an evening, make sure you bring plenty of water.

Really nice pools, water quality was excellent. You wear bathing suits,. There are 3 pools of differing temperatures. Bring a towel to save the $5 it costs to rent one.

We have been travelling thru Taupo for years and did not even know these pools existed. We absolutely loved them and actually enjoyed the 14 year are limit. The pools are clean and easily accessable with a variety of temperatures and seating options for everyone. We bought Grab One tickets both visits which meant as a family it was affordable. Our kids are all grown ups now. Awesome!!

Didn’t get a chance to check out the terraces, but the thermal pools are gorgeous! My skin feels so soft, it was a lovely relaxing morning. Highly recommend!

Water looked very inviting, clean & blue. Great atmosphere with native surrounding the only thing is a bit of a walk from the changing rooms.

Great pools, we go here regular as our hot pools. Beautiful spot, lots of pools with different temperatures but all close so you can change at at anytime.

Fascinating. Like a mini version of the great and famous Tarawera pink and white terraces that were one of the wonders of the world. This gives you an idea of how spectacular those would have been if you just imagine them many many times larger. Go and have a look.

During our 1 month roadtrip around NZ we kept coming back to the Terraces time and time again. Compared to Polynesian Spa there was no comparison. The Terraces are a place we could go to every single day for the rest of our lives. Beautiful, immaculately maintained, and the scenery is next-level. Thank you for everything Terraces!

Amazing! My husband and I came to New Zealand to see how winter felt and cing here was awesome. Because of the time of year we came here there is almost no one here and everything is just great! Everyone here was so helpful :)

The walk is not worth paying for especially for Kiwis. Looks like they are adding an artificial Maori village and no doubt the price of the short walk will increase further making it even less worthwhile for Kiwis. The hot pools are pretty good - beware they don't allow children - expensive of course but aimed at international and local tourists.

The pool was full of athletes from the Triathlon, felt like a blob in front of these shreded machines lol, was awesome..

Started the day at 430 a.m. hadn't had enough sleep but damn I was excited. Get a message on the phone at 450. I'm here. Damn I think to myself in still naked from the shower. "I'm naked" i bounce back. That will be cold at the snow comes my mates cheeky reply. 5 minutes later I'm completely clothed and in the car heading to Whakapapa excited as hell about the day on the ski fields ahead of us. About 730 am a message pops up on my phone from a mate who was meeting us there. Ski field is closed. Dejected we needed a new plan. What can we do on the level of awesome of a day in the snow. Probably nothing so we decided to settle for 3 hours at the hot pools. Worth it. The weeks stress just melted away in what you could argue is a communal clothed bath. Best thing we could possibly have done kinda hope tomorrow the mountain is closed so I can go back.

Wairakei Terraces is a natural geothermal spa of sorts. Basically a geological hot tub! A little cascade of hot pools run parallel to the hot stream, which is converted into the top pool, making it pretty hot. The middle pool is cooler, and the bottom pool (which is much bigger) is hotter again, being fed from another waterfall inlet. Nice walk on the grounds too. Very calming and relaxing place to unwind after a busy day touring or sightseeing.

Loved the clean and warm facilities but need larger changing rooms although other then that it was an amazing experience if any adults want a weekend away definitely go to the terraces there is an only adult pool (no kids are allowed in the adults pool ) and there is a cold pool there if you don't want to go in the hot pool

Amazing massage here and the Turquoise water is beautiful and with no sulfur has no lingering smell.

Best thermal pools around and set in a relaxing outdoor environment. No kids under 14 makes it a great place to relax and soak up the minerals.

Really beautiful. Very popular in the bad weather. Would have been a better experience if the changing rooms were closer to the pools or if the walk way was covered.

Wairakel Terrace is not a big area where you can see the hot springs at a walking distance, but if you have time you can swim and relax at the lakeside with a good ambience and take a few photos at the beautiful lakeside.

Adult spa pools were excellent with a range of temperatures and some lovely waterfalls. Go around sunset for a range of colours and to see the stars come out from a hot pool!

This is an ok place. Nice layout near huka falls and location wise it is near the road. They have 1 big pool and two small ones. The temperature of the pools varies as well. The thing that i dont like is that they dont have shower coz they were saying it's best not to take shower so that the body will absorb the minerals. Water is a bit dirty too...

It's a beautiful place to stop, rest, and relax. Take a swim in the pool and soak in the atmosphere.

Really relaxing and no kids running around because minimum age allowed is 14yrs. Only down side was an old Chinese Guy cutting his toenails in one of the hot pools and his family laying on the steps into the pools getting in the way of everyone getting in or out.

I am in awe with Wairakei Trraces, after three days of arthritus agony, we decided to try Taupo Terraces hot pools!

Always stop here to refresh, replenish and rejuvenate ourselves! It's so good, we went and bought ourselves a spa just to have that heat at home, but it doesn't compare to the mineral hot springs!

we are from Tauranga, but drive a few times to these fantastic pools different temperatures, awesome water and 100% pure nature our most favorite hot pools vern nicely maintained, and now the cafe shop is open toooo

Great place to relax! I can't recommend it enough. Sooooo much better than Polynesian Spa and all the Rotorua thermal pool options.This is the place to go for thermal pools! The place is clean, never too crowded, surrounded by beautiful natural surroundings and the man that works the front desk is so nice and helpful.

Beautiful setting. Pools were perfect temperatures. Not too busy. Some water fountains would be good? And maybe closer changing sheds?

Loved the warm water pools. We went on a quiet day, so had very private time. Later met some nice people. Inexpensive and good.

Lovely place. Paid $25 each to swim there and then got charged a further $12.50 each to wander about. Would have been prepared to pay just the $25 each. Expensive for what it was.
