My partner and I went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Noticed it by accident as was looking around Te Awamutu. We thought lets take a look. Glad we did. What a beautiful quaint old fashioned nostalgic theatre with old memorabilia. Lovely friendly staff. Saw a great movie. Loved the whole experience and atmosphere. Definitely be returning.
m.
Superb theatre emblazoned with movie memorabilia and posters. Excellent prices on drinks and snacks and the staff are super friendly. With multiple screens there is always a good selection of films to choose from too.
K.
This place is wonderful. Friendly and welcoming staff and really reasonable food pricing. We will be coming here through from Hamilton for all our movies from here on!
P.
Step into the era of movie magic. Crystal chandeliers, a ticket booth and hoards of movie memorabilia... Really special.
Thank you Allan for keeping nostalgia alive and well..
K.
Going to the cinema is and amazing experience your not just going to watch a movie, you going to a museum too love it
J.
Really good theater cheapest snacks ever staff were really nice all-round good experience
l.
A lovely old chilled cinema. Awesome staff too. Love how they have interval time in the middle of the movie.
G.
Always a treat to watch movies, well looked after theatres, popcorn a must have
J.
My favourite theatre in NZ! Brings back the glamour of going to the movies with the nostalgic decor. Big bonus, the snacks are cheap!
B.
I'm in my late-ish 40s and so this place is brimming with nostalgia for me. Whenever possible this is where I'm watching movies.
F.
Great cinema. Not many people there. A wonderful experience.
R.
This is an amazing place. It has about 5 or 6 theatres of varying sizes. As a result there are a good variety of movies of all genres available to choose from.
m.
Fabulous old theatre. Well worth a visit.
N.
The host is excellent and he understands the narratives of each film intimately giving excellent "whats it about" synopses. Greatly underappreciated theater! Come on Hamiltonians, make a trip out of it! Visit the Regent.
V.
Oh my Goodness this was such a Wonderful step back in time - was Charmed - Thank You - The Regent.
From when you walk through the Front door you note that it is 'compact' but Everything is there - the ticket booth and the sweets are tucked in together and it is only a few steps to the theatre.
When I walked in I noted - it's beautiful Olde World decor which was Fresh and clean - not old and down at heel.
Before the Film there were tbe usual instructions/warnings about cell phones - they added some more about 'respectful cinema etiquette' There was a Pre film 'short' (Woody the Woodpecker) then we settled into tbe film - about halfway we had an Intermission - Wow - I haven't had that for I don't know how long! - I was half expecting someone to come with a tray of goodies to sell but the kiosk was only a few steps away anyway. We then finished the film.
For me it was a Lovely and Enjoyable trip down Memory Lane But for my 5yr old - it was a bit Long and there was a lot of - "where's the Film gone?" Time. Alll ok once we restarted - just made it a bit long winded for little kids -

Great to have this theatre in Te Awamutu
M.
We really like the Regent. Reasonable prices and close to home. Why would you bother driving to Hamilton when everything you need is at the Regent. I do wish they still did the choc top ice creams though! 😀
H.
Fantastic old school cinema with historical information on every wall. There is even intermission which is kinda cool. Love getting the free biscuit with my coffee. I just wish we could still buy Tangy Fruits.
N.
I have been visiting this cinema my entire life and now my kid's are. Recently we saw Beauty and the Beast, having a intermission was wonderful as kids at cinemas can be difficult to say the least. Quick break and refill snacks, just great! Nice staff too. Keep it up.
S.
Loved this place, cinema 1 is classic movie memorabilia! Movie even came with intermission for the kids... Totally memory lane moment for me. Same owner for the last 40+ years! So cool
D.
Its like a movie museum. If you want to relive your childhood movie experience this is the place to go. Posters from Spatacus, Sleeping Dogs, Original Star Wars Trilogy etc. Best movie theater experience ever.
C.
Movie enthusiasts will feel invited to a journey through motion picture history. This venue is bursting with amazing collectors items turning this beautifully refurbished cinema into an awe-inspiring museum. Any guests should bring some extra time to allow indulging the beauty of movie industry flair.
L.
This theatre is gorgeous. Very nostalgic.
Preserved well, such a treat. Makes going to the theatre much more worth it for the experience.
Great value.
Will be back for sure.
J.
Fun decor, cute little theatres, and they even had an intermission, which was GREAT for our preschooler. Reasonable range of snacks too, at not totally crazy prices. Overall, a great movie experience.
S.
This is a movie theater that's been around since my childhood, more than 60 years. Now instead of just 1 theatre there are about 5 and the owner has really used his imagination to decorate the place with old movie posters and photos and movie equipment.
M.
The last small town/rural cinema left in NZ.Been in situ since early 1930s and has now been divided into multiple boutique theatres. The one I was in had 60 comfortable seats.Alas no booze for sale but awesome and rare movie posters/memorabilia displayed in foyer.I first visited in the 1970s and have fond nostalgic memories.Same owner still also!People regularly travel from long distances even to experience the ambience. There is also a 3D cinema.
T.
Small cinemas divided into plush areas. Jam packed with memorabilia! Great sound in the theatre. Hot and cold drinks available, as well as snack food.
K.
Amazing old theatre, reminds me of going to the movies as a kid. Nice to be able to share the experience with my own kids. We are very lucky to still have a theatre like this. 😁
V.
Feel lucky and appreciative to have this lovely Theatre so close to home :)
C.
Destination cinema if you love film. Bursting with awesome movie history and memorabilia, plus before the movie they play 2 trailers and that's it! No ads! So much more enjoyable than the major chains that play up to half an hour of ads and trailers before a screening. Cinema of choice for sure.
D.
I love Regent Theatre Te Awamutu. Always shows the very best movies and the whole place is presented with so much love and care by Mr Webb. My favourite of the five theatres is the tiny jewel, Theatre Five downstairs.
C.
Nice cinema with real "local" feel feel about it. Some of the theaters are quite small but still pleasant enough. They show all the top movies and then some. Proud to support local
D.
Nice and loads of room..
We had the entire theatre to ourselves
Awesome 😎
C.
Enjoy going to this theatre. Love the atmosphere and memorabilia, comfy, clean. Great movies to take my young Son too. Local town parking.
H.
Look, I love this place and will continue to go there, but there is room for improvement; it always smells like the loo when you walk in and the cameras watching you while you watch the film are a little unnerving. Amazing memorabilia.
M.
Unique experience perfect for taking your movie watching to another level! Decorated perfectly to make you feel youve gone back in time. Standard movie food.
R.
So unique, I have been going here for 30 years since I was a kid and still love it. Great variety for wahts playing and decorating is beautiful
P.
Great movie. Guernsey reading and potatoe peel pie society. One of the challenging hat among pics the Brits do so well. War wounds, healing and growth.
O.
Love this cinema! Very nostalgic with all its memorabilia dotted around the complex! Large & intimate cinemas. Very reasonably priced! Wonderful friendly staff.
J.
Glorious - intimate, charming, great screen and good sound.
H.
Buy everything you need from the shop before the movie. It shuts after the movie starts. Should sell healthier snack options or allow people to bring their own
P.
Went and saw Victoria and Abdul. Great movie and we had enough tickets to get one of us in for free. I love our movie theatre and we need to support it often
M.
