Another fabulous Xmas spent at Waitawheta Camp which was made even better this year with our new Caretakers Rob and Jan Raw who made us feel so welcome from our arrival to our departure. The camp itself has never looked better and is in top condition thanks to their hard work and efforts in trying to maintain a high standard for years to come. They definitely made our stay there more enjoyable and comfortable so our deepest Thanks & gratitude to Rob & Jan on behalf of my Whanau and we'll see you again for Xmas 2019!

Great simple accommodation for our group of 30 odd. Dormitory rooms but enough side rooms and corner alcoves that everyone got some sort of privacy. Dirt cheap. Old but practical kitchen. And close to the gorge and forest for more than a weekends worth of running. One star off for intermittent mobile phone coverage.

Fantastic 'Back to Basics' Camp for Groups, Weddings and Functions, near Waihi, Waikino, Karangahake Gorge, Waihi Beach. Lots to do there, places to visit, explore and swim in Rivers, Bush Walks, Beaches, Historical and Operating Gold Mines, Train rides and lots more. Great affordable place for weddings and family or group events.

Fantastic place-Affordable Accommodation for over 100 people. Central location just over one hour from Auckland, Tauranga and Hamilton. Only 4 kms from the Hauraki Rail Trail and Karangahake/ Waikino Gorge. 10km to Waihi, Waihi Beach, Bowentown, Athenree and Paeroa Get Back to Basics and Back to Nature. Flying Fox a big hit. So many Natural and Historical places to visit-Rivers, Waterfalls, Swimming Holes, Bush and Beach. Excellent for Clubs, Reunions, Weddings and Private Functions. Large Community Hall with Stage on site. Large Dining and Kitchen. Room for tents on site and the paddock next door can be made available if extra room required. Other Attractions: Hot Pools, Waihi Discovery Centre, Victoria Battery, Waikino and Goldfields Railway, Tunnel walks. Award winning Restaurants-The Falls Retreat and Ohinemuri Winery.

Ideal venue for groups be it private functions school camps or even family reunions. Waitewheta has all the facilities you will need with ample beds in a good country soroundings away from the city life, there is a good swimming hole which is only walking distance down the road. Waitewheta has a good adventure playground with a flying fox for all ages to enjoy. Waitewheta is close enough to Waihi Town for shopping and Waihi beach for swimming and fishing. The caretaker whom lives next to the camp with his wife is awesome and very helpful.
