Reviews of Puzzling World
T.
It's a experience , never had before . $22 per adult ( gold card ) . Spent 45minutes , never did the Maze, ran out of time . I'm sure it would have been great . Very clean toilets and must to visit , regardless wether you want to go or not .
c.
It's still a great place! Ok not much has changed in 15 years, but still the place is vibrant and clean. Great to spent an hour seeing the exhibition and getting lost in the maze will indeed take you an other 60 to 90 minutes (we did hard level in 67 minutes. Get the Fitbit working as you walk atleast 6km. Puzzles are fun and I'm sure will visit again.
K.
It was alright, especially the maze outside. The maze was very tiring, but I went on a hot day so I can see how it could've been better on a cooler day. I enjoyed the tilting room, and all of the little illusions all over the place (even the toilets!)
S.
You have to see this . Absolutely 💯 love it. Great for all ages a maze outside with activities 👌. The experience is amazing you need to see it kids will love everything.
a.
Trip to Wanaka can't complete without visiting Puzzling world. Before going there I was thinking it is just a kids activity. I was wrong. I have seen several videos about visual illusions but experiencing these illusions in actual is amazing. Specially tilt room is mind blowing. If you look your surroundings, it is hard to move but if you just look at floor, it is just a simple slope.
Don't understand what I am saying, you need to visit puzzling world.
D.
Fun activity!!! Really enjoyed the maze... fun competition for families/friends. Highly recommend! I would definitely do the maze again :)
S.
Great spot. What a wonderful place. Something to see and do around every corner. Even just a visit to the cafe presents many puzzles to sit and play with. Going though to the main displays presents some wonderful experiences and illusions. Totally recommend this to any age. Good luck with the maze!
L.
So glad we took the time to come here. The illusion rooms were really interesting and fun. The maze was just hard enough for a challenge but not so hard we got frustrated!
M.
Great place for patient kids and adults to problem solve and enjoy some illusions 😉
L.
This place offers a lot of different optical illusions as well as different activities for kids to do. The tilted room was really amazing and mind blowing! The maze allows the family to get together and have lots of interactions.
This place would suit kids from age of 5 to teenagers.
L.
Great family activity. Highly recommend doing both the maze and illusion rooms, if you had to choose one I’d go with the illusion rooms. Great you can go as many times you want while there. Food is also reasonably priced.
K.
Great fun. Nice touch aiming sprinklers on the maze on such a hot day. Maze was challenging but not too daunting and there are well signposted exits if it gets too much. Staff were friendly and knowledgable. The puzzles were fun and the kids begged for a second round. Easy parking. Food and giftshop on site.
L.
A great experience. The artwork in the illusion room is well made, and succeeds in its purpose. It includes a wall of heads that appear to follow you, and a room of pop culture models, meant to present an illusion. The maze is entertaining in trying to find the four towers and the centre. Would recommend.
N.
It was a rainy day still we enjoyed a lot. Lots of things to do here. Puzzles are wonderful. We can purchase rain protection from there and can proceed with quest. Inside also there are many things. Room which makes you looks like giant and dwarf is my favorite.
V.
A great half day out for all ages! The illusion room is amazing - especially the holograms! The maze will have you scratching your head a few times! Takes an average of 3 to 5 km to figure it out, apparently. Definitely recommend taking water if it's a sunny day!
D.
Great way to burn a couple of hours if you're looking for something for any age. Puzzling World is a really neat place with lots of cool effects that will wow you. Outdoor maze is a must and is the best I've come across in New Zealand.
T.
A-maze-ing place. The maze is well with the sweat and the staff are friendly and helpful. Cool bunch of mind bending things to do and experience
M.
Lots to do and plenty to keep everyone entertained.
The maze was definitely a challenge, took longer than I expected. Even though you could see parts of it when on the higher areas it was still a challenge to work through.
K.
Great illusion rooms. loves Puzzel and maze. Easy access and resonable ticket prices. Not far away from Wanaka. Kids will love it. Worth the visit. excellent experience..
C.
Fun puzzles to work on for free. The whole family enjoyed it. We also did the maze which was a lot of fun. Great place to take the kids.
K.
I love Puzzling World! There's plenty to keep me entertained everytime I come through Wanaka. The Maze is impressive and it can take ages to find all the towers, the illusions and other exhibits are fascinating and I love hanging out in the cafe and playing with the puzzles afterwards too. A great day out, time and again!
J.
The illusion part is definitely not for me, made me feel sick, although that is warned. Most of this section was subpar, not very interesting.
However, the maze is awesome. It is way bigger than it looks from the pictures. It is actually challenging and very fun. Definitely worth the experience.
M.
Great place to hangout with friends and family. The gift shop have heaps of interesting stuff but over expensive.
R.
The place was nicely decked out to prod our curiosity and challenge our intelligence. It's a great fun family activity in wanaka. We just did the illusion room and had some mind numbing experiences especially the inclined room.
M.
Great illusory exhibit, maze was also more challenging than initially seemed. Good place for kids and families to spend half a day as long as the weather isn’t too hot!!
P.
The kids loved this place. Reasonably priced for a good half day entertainment. We did the illusion section first before having lunch. The sloped room was the clear highlight - we went back a second time before we left. The maze was surprisingly fun and took us over an hour.
A.
Had a great time here with the Family. The tilted house was mind bending. Maze took us about 50mins to complete the difficult path. Not to expensive. Could of spent 3 to 4 hours here easily. But had to leave in 2.
L.
This place would intrigue all ages and a perfect spot for curious minds. You spend anywhere between 90 minutes to half a day with lots of mind boggling illusions. In my view, I would say the maze is mainly for kids and teenagers
H.
Absolutely amazing experience, would definitely visit again
M.
Had to work to find all 4 corners, pictures look easy but it’s actually quite hard. Illusion room was great, slope room is hilarious. Great service and good selection of snacks. Prices are worth it for the fun.
Z.
Great family activity for all ages, illusion room and giant maze plus a puzzle shop that is irresistible. I don't want to share to many photos as its a must see for yourself, even the toilets are unique
K.
First time here today. We started with the maze which was a great challenge. This one is great for the whole family. The illision rooms are better for slightly older children. The cafe's tables all have a variety of mostly wooden puzzles. The gift shop is filled with puzzles and souvneirs. You can come here multiple time and still have unlimited fun. You can do the maze in any order(30-60min), in the set order(60-90min) or use the "emergency" exits to help you out for people with less time.
N.
Awesome place for families ! Hot food, coffee, illusion rooms and Maze !! What a great day !! The maze is actually quite hard too 60-90ish mins it took us .. Loved the pizza
A.
An absolutely amazing place to visit for people of all ages. You can easily spend a 3 to 4 hours and get so many things done. The gift shop has some of most amazing riddles games. I and my wife who is 7 month pregnant totally enjoyed this place. The great maze is lovely place too. The staff is so amazing and you can play some tricky games and if you get stuck the staff is more than happy to come and help you. Highly recommended to everyone. A must see place if you are passing through Wanaka.
I.
Great place to get the whole family thinking and interacting. The illusions and illusion rooms are excellent. Easy to access and affordable prices for the family. Just a short drive from Wanaka township.
A.
Really well set up and unique tourist attraction with a solid maze that will keep you entertained (or frustrated) for a while.
J.
We went in early January and it was really busy, but the staff were amazing, the shop was filled with awesome puzzle items, the puzzle rooms were excellent and we went through them multiple times, the maze was also great and both my son and I had an excellent time. Highly recommend for adults or children
G.
Puzzling world is fantastic, loads n loads of fun..Definitely worth doing and really reasonably priced too. First time today for myself and children doing this. Wicked
I.
Dragged my partner here and he ended up enjoying the visit. The maze is more challenging than it looks and took a good chunk of time to complete. The illusion rooms are quite unexpected also as we thought we have seen it all overseas and we still got quite a few surprises !
J.
Love this place have been a few times and it never gets old. Doesn’t change too often however a great place for some family fun. Perfect way to entertain the kids in the holidays as you can easily make it a quick trip or extend your visit out for the whole day! Would recommend doing it when the weather is nice!
N.
My partner and I visited this on our way back from Queenstown.
We did the Maze first and were both disappointed.
I wouldn't recommend the Maze to adults, however it would be good fun for younger kids.
The illusion gallery was well worth a visit, we both found it pretty interesting and worth the cost. A variety of different types of illusions that are a real treat to untangle!
Also be sure to visit the main toilets out by the maze for a fun photo!
J.
Fun place for kids and the young at heart too. The entrance has a cafe that has a lot of neat puzzles to solve and good food. The illusion room is neat - kids had fun. Dont let the maze fool you - it's tougher than it looks. The bathroom has an insta-worthy fun entrance :)
Z.
We decided to do this because it was raining, and it was so much better than we expected. We spent hours here and the great maze was a fun challenge. The illusion rooms are awesome and really mind bending, we were actually a bit tired by the time we'd finished. The service was super friendly and the gift shop was incredible. If you have some time in Wanaka I would definitely recommend this place.
M.
Highly recommended especially the great maze I DID the classic challenge and did it but could not find my way out so I used an emergency exit glad I didn't do hard challenge. Illusion rooms are super cool but very confusing. You at least need 1 and a half hours there but more recommended.
D.
Awesome experience for all ages. Lots of parking, easy to find. There is an indoor and outdoor aspect to factor in. I'd take a raincoat if its wet or buy a waterproof poncho for $3.50 NZD.
If you can eat afterward you will save yourself an upset stomach from some of the optical illusions.
Food is quite expensive here but looked good.
Coffee is sold here too.
Allow an minimum of two hours for this visit. You could easily spend three hours if you have children and decide to eat and play at the free games tables.
The games tables have little items that must be solved on them. You can see them in the pictures.
I laughed a lot during the maze and I'm sure you will too. It's easy enough and to get out of if you really struggle. Kids tended to run around corners and crash into people. I think any adult should be ok with that. They're just excited.
I enjoyed this place a lot and loved what they did out front with the tilted buildings.
R.
Fun fun fun...the place is very educational and family friendly....
C.
Great place for family. The facilities has been very well maintained for many years as we aware and the staff are very friendly. The illusion room is interesting to explore especially for kids. The wood great maze is challenging for teenager as well as adult. You need to have good energy to keep walking up and down of stairs and bridges. We spent more than 1 hour at the maze. Have fun!
S.
Very enjoyable for adults and kids. Illusion rooms brain challenging. We didn't have time to do the maize.
M.
Great fun for adults and kids alike. I absolutely loved this place. It’s double barrel fun with a museum of puzzles/illusions as well as an outdoor maze to run around in. Even the bathrooms have something to see here. Once done with these one can sit in the cafe gift shop and nut out a puzzle or two while enjoying refreshments.
T.
Great place, plenty to entertain everyone.
H.
It’s good for kids to visit, puzzle outside was way too hot to walk. Inside is nice but not extremely amazing.
C.
I'm always a bit wary of these kinds of tourist trap places but despite being old and cynical and already understanding practically everything on show I thought it was done really well and my 11 year old daughter as well as my partner had a really great time. The total enthusiasm and dedication of the guy that set it up TV still shows through even though he's no longer running it
D.
Loved the maze game(approx 45’ to complete). The museum was nice. It’s not that big, it takes you around 30’ to look around. It’s a different kind of experience and I glad we did it. Worth a 2-3 h visit.
o.
The maze is a lot of fun. We finished in 30min which is the average time. The illusion are was interesting but if I had to choose I would do the maze. Don’t try the puzzles or else you will be there all day long. I refused to leave till I solved my puzzle. Good news most of the puzzles were for sale. Don’t forget to take a look at the oddities outside the museum
M.
Great place to visit and enjoy. The tilted room is mind bending and very cool. Recommended.
N.
This place is great with all the puzzles. Kids love it especially the maze. I had been here 17 years ago and recall it was a great experience. The only thing is that it barely changed for such a long time.
T.
Said to be for kids but man, it was very worth. We're very chill people and Wanaka has been amazing through and through. While I was reading the comments I thought I was far above it and i'd end up entertaining my wife's desires to see the place. I probably ended up enjoying it more than her considering the high level of intellect this requires to do their puzzles. Upon entering you already have free puzzles to play at the tables at the main lobby and that itself kills your brains. It's a $22.50 combo for each adult though we didn't get to finish the maze because of rain. 5 sections and they were all very enthralling. In fact we're quite bummed that we couldnt do the tilted room because both of us were so bad with balance in our inability to see the true horizon!!! What a revelation!
Should you come if you're in Wanaka? Yes yes yes. Expect to take around 2+ hours if you really enjoy it and want to have a full experience.
K.
An absolute heap of fun, lots of really nice brainteasers and puzzles to work with in the cafe area, as well as the main attractions of the maze, and indoor attractions. Only let-down would be the high price, however it definitely comes close to being good value. Would recommend going for the combo ticket as it gives you the awesome adventure of the maze, along with the crazy indoor rooms like the shrinking and sloped. Cafe could do with more G.F. options.
T.
So much fun . Great for the Whole Family .. Illusion world was just sooo cool .. Havnt done the maze yet but looks Awesome
M.
It is a place you do not want to miss when visiting Wanaka. You need to spend at least 3 hours to enjoy this place. Children and adults can enjoy the outdoor maze together, lots of funny photos opportunities and optical illusions to check out. When you are done or if the weather is not so good outside, you can try hundreds of games and puzzles for free in the cafeteria area. If you are still there around 4:30ish, they reduce their hot food (such as sausage rolls & pies) and sandwiches to $1 each - good for a budget traveller. Before you leave, visit the toilets for funny photos.
J.
The maze is great but really confusing. Lots of different illusions in the illusion room. The tilted room is quite fun and probally my favorite. Great please to go to for an activity day
T.
Great place to visit with family, alot of fun experiences and scratch your head moments.
M.
Lot of fun even for adults. Several illusions are present and fun to go through. The maze is also fun to do as a group and takes about an hour to do in the right order of towers. There are also puzzles available in the lounge area where you can sit and solve.
l.
This place is fun! And you might need to spend 2 hours here.
I love the slanted room.
I did not have the time finishing the huge maze! It's really fun! There were a lot of puzzles around the main hall.
You MUST visit the toilet, even though you are not pee or poop…
R.
Nice place to go with friends and family. Many things are there to explore. There is a puzzle outside of puzzle house. I recommend not to go there of you dont have much time because its totally puzzling. If you have time must go and try.
B.
Was a great fun activity, but some point still need more , cafe was good food and cheap . Good to go one time experience
T.
A must see in Wanaka. One half is art exhibits that get the mind thinking. The other half is a maze which is suited to a younger audience or those who are young at heart.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and smiling. Has a cafe and giftshop with puzzles. Tables for the cafe all have puzzles that you can complete whilst enjoying a coffee.
S.
It's a beautiful place to visit on our way to Christchurch from queenstown. Situated on the bank of lake Wanaka in in Wanaka city. It was chilling cold and windy outside but comfortably warm inside. The setup of puzzling world is very nice. All scientific facts are presented in a very informative way so that the children and elders can understand easily. Its actually fun way of learning the laws of gravity, the illusions of 3 dimensions etc.. There is a 3D maze also which also is enjoyed by the children. Ample of parking and restrooms are there. You should visit it if you are traveling with family with children.👌🏼👍🏻
S.
For adults it was an okay way to pass 1 to 2 hours. For kids 12 and under its probably worth going. It's $22.50 NZD to do both exhibits (indoor illusion room and outdoor maze) or 16-18 for each so this was a no brainer. As the maze notes, expect to spend the majority of your time outside... after 45 minutes we felt frustrated and exited through one of the emergency exits. The location closes at 5:30 pm but the outdoor maze remains open and you can exit out to the parking lot. Cafe with food, drinks and table puzzles available.
C.
Great place to visit close to Wanaka. It has two areas, the illusions part and the maze. You need about 2 hours in total for your visit depending whether you get lost in the maze....
C.
Awesome place to keep everyone entertained!
B.
I highly recommend stopping here if you are near Wanaka or if it is in your way! The prize is not really expensive, the combo (illusion rooms and the maze) was like $22.5 per person. The illusion rooms are like... WTF? It's tricky and interesting! Wow. Whereas the maze it looks like easy but is not. I really had fun, it was raining and we were alone!
It has also a living room with plenty of puzzling games where you have to make a big effort to solve them! Despite getting frustrated, it is worthy!
About the staff, they have been friendly helping you to solve this puzzles just in case of needing...
G.
The staff were super friendly. Attempted to take on the maze on a hot day, definitely some sweating. It was fun overall.
R.
Walking on the 15 deg inclined floor was lot of fun. Maze, 3D holograms, 3D illusions and other things are all great.
J.
Loved it! Great afternoon out, well worth the price! Kept us all entertained for hours!
S.
Good place to have fun...Tilting house is very dizzy😱
M.
Good family fun. Lots of spaces to explore and it creates curiosity abound. Table top puzzles galore to play with when you come back with tired feet from conquering the maze! The gift shop has plently of stock of further puzzling activities to take away with you. P.s. the coffee tastes good too!
R.
Well worth a trip and a Vist. Take the kids and yourll be surprised how much fun you have as well. Have been twice now and the grandkids loved it. So much to do and see. And even space for time out. Would go again.
M.
it was fun, a day well spent, let's play again with wonderful puzzle game that might bring you back to childhood where everything is amazing and jaw dropping until your girlfriend pull you out there by an arm. Loved the skew house, will test your balance abilities. The fun continues even outside with a big maze where it's easy to get loss multiple time and you feel a kid back again.
well structured, bit pricey but was something different and fun, on your way to Queenstown.
J.
Great experience. Just be careful in the tilted room. It gives your head a good spin!
R.
Such fun puzzles! The maze is amazing and quite difficult so leave lots of time for it. There are puzzles and games out on all the tables inside with helpers going around giving hints and clues. The rooms are pretty neat with lots of cool stuff to see and do. You could spend the whole day here easily.
P.
Place blew my mind and broke my brain. The angle room messed with my perception long after the experience
S.
This place is great if you are a kid as there are a lot of interactive exhibits. As an adult, it may be a bit boring and not worth it. There wasn't anything that truly amazed or surprised me about this place. More crowds can actually make your experience less tranquil. Maybe if you have extra time, I would suggest checking it out.
B.
A very cool place. The maze is a huge challenge (I failed the Red, my partner/ninja in pic, soldiered on and found it.. Blah blah blah) and everything else really makes your brain work hard too!
T.
Great entertainment for the young and old. Excellent service and reasonable pricing. Not too many options for food though. Overall a must do activity when in the area.
S.
Great entertainment for families
Very easy to loose family members in the maze, which may be a good thing or a bad thing😜 depending on how you look at it
M.
This place was jam packed when we visited. The cafe area was not that clean and the eftpos was not working. Didn't do the maze cos it was raining.
My favorite part was the tilted house!
M.
Far from queenstown but worth going for the puzzle world
J.
Great experience! I enjoyed the illusions and the puzzles.
T.
Great experience 👍 loved it both times I went there but surely not for people who get disoriented easily. Lots of stuff for kids to do as well and adults to enjoy. Prices have been relatively the same over the years so still an affordable day out when visiting this part of the country. Exhibits are mind bending!
R.
Pretty fun spot for novelty's sake alone. Seemed geared more towards getting younger kids interested in developing STEM skills, which I appreciated, but it also made the place feel a little too kiddish. Parts of the puzzling rooms also felt like they were just there to sell you products out of the gift shop. BUT a lot of detail was put into the maze as well as a few illusion rooms (the turning heads was a personal favourite) and they were a genuine treat! The maze is pretty expansive and a great challenge. We spent at least an hour and a half in it. Food here is limited though, and I'd recommend eating before you come. You'll be spending around three or so hours here if you do both the rooms and the maze.
F.
Great destination especially if you have kids or a young at heart adult that loves puzzle and maze. The great maze if fun and keeps you busy for about an hour or more depends on the difficulty you choose. We did the easy one with our 5 years old and took about 1 hour to complete. The indoor exhibition rooms are quite fun too and will keep you entertained for another hour or so. We enjoyed our time there and our daughter had great fun too.
a.
I did not go inside but it worths taking some photos. Funny and interesting. Just a nice photo points.
M.
We had so much fun there. People from all ages would enjoy it.
M.
Good fun if it's an over cast day. Illusion rooms are good fun and all the table puzzles in the cafe. We could have done without the maze but I think it would be great fun with kids. Remember to take water in with you, it gets hot with all the wooden boards.
R.
Definitely place to go if you're visiting Wanaka. Illusion and maze both are pretty awesome! if you have kids they would definitely enjoy this place.
B.
A lot of fun however the maze is harder than you think!
J.
Nice all round family fun day. Interesting to see the history of some of the puzzles and the maze was easy enough to keep everyone entertained.
S.
A nice place to spend afternoon if you're happen to be in the area and looking for engaging activities.
They have a collection of a variety of puzzles. You can easily spend an hour or two sitting in their common area and may be solve a few. They have cafe in case you need some food for thought.
In addition they offer a maze and illusion room. Both have a fee, NZ$18 each. And with the combo deal (both together) it is aboud $22.50.
E.
Always great fun ,so much better than when I was there 20 year's ago
I.
Still on overseas tourist prices or the very well heeled..This area cry's out for Aucklanders and North Islanders to visit, not at their current price unf
a.
a very cool illuson and maze, 18$ for each or 22 for both. The illusion room has a pool table in which the balls roll back, a chair which goes up, optic illusions. the maze is tricky and takes 30 to 90 minutes to complete. the main (and free) lounge has alot of cool puzzles. On the outside there is a tilted house you can take a photo with (lifting it).
worth a visit
J.
Great place for kids. Maze is amazing to keep you busy for an hour.
M.
This place is completely worth the entrance fee. The maze was very challenging and a great teamwork/bonding activity, for both kids and adults. The illusion rooms are fun to see, especially the tilted room (soooo trippy and hard for your brain to figure out) and the room where people look bigger on one side. Great photo opps throughout.
O.
A bit disappointed. The illusions were average and the toilets weren't worth the hype. The height changing room was interesting though and the staff were friendly. Worth doing to say you've been and the entry price was reasonable. Kids will probably appreciate it more
S.
This was a great spot to spend a few hours. Its basically comprises two main sections: the illusion rooms and the maze. The five illusuon rooms are really fun, interesting and we learnt alot. The maze was a big challenge and well worth the time to try master it.
We actually spent most of our time in the cafe playing the wide variety of table puzzles, drinking coffee and relaxing.
R.
Great stop for kids and adults who loves puzzles, illusions and mazes. A bit of struggle to finish the maze under the sweltering summer sun. Staff are friendly and helpful.
M.
I really liked it here, friendly staff, great place for a family outing. best to go in the morning mid summer.
S.
What a great idea, great fun for the family. Such an awesome Wānaka activity! A must do! We totally loved our time there! Kids had a ball 👌
H.
A place where children and adults would enjoy....great place for family to have fun. Lots of exciting tricks and illusions!
K.
This place is awesome and very family friendly. Lots of puzzles to do and solve. Ripper brain teasers!!! Loved it and would highly recommend for families!
Fantastic way to break up a family driveand kill an hour or two (if doing the maze)!
M.
Great place for young and old with a great outdoor maze and many enigmas illusions and puzzles inside. Even the toilets are worth a photo or two...
A.
A must see attraction while out these ways. Plenty of interesting/mind bending things to see. Includes a maze that can be done if the weather is fine.
A.
Awesome for kids. Real value for money compared to other family activities. Very well maintained and extremely clean.
V.
It's very unique and interesting place in New Zealand. It has 2 sections which are Illusions and Maze. People can also spend lots of time while solving the puzzles at the entrance. Although these puzzles seem very easy, they are very hard to solve indeed.
M.
Great place for kids to spend time and work on their skills and understand the world of illusion.
G.
The kids asked for a fun place to play in. We googled and found our way there. The kids love it and the parents were warmed by all the smiles and laughters..
N.
Good place for brain tease. A lot of hard puzzles, we stay here for almost 3 hours including the maze, the only thing we solved is actually the maze, the puzzle on the other hand.... anyway, good fun and friendly staffs.
Recommend
K.
My daughters loved Puzzling World, especially the giant maze. We did the easier version and it still took us over an hour to complete.
E.
Rather quirky place. A bit of a blow to learn that the Seniors discount only applies if you buy the whole package tour. Individual exhibition visits don't qualify for gold discount. Definitely worth a visit.
S.
Fun place to spend the day, inside wonky world, and a grate out side maze
J.
Go and test / mess with your brain. It's just amazing how those illusion rooms are created. Don't miss it if you're in Wanaka.
r.
Good experience.. puzzle game u can't escape 🤪once you entered 😉 nice place
R.
The way back from Lake Wakana we saw the Puzzling World. Really unique place , my first visit having bypassed it previously. A challenge for every mind.
D.
Cool experience with some mind bending visual effects! Great for the family!
S.
Great fun for a few hours - great value for families/ We did the exhibitions and the maze. The staff are incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful experience. They even gave our baby boy a free T-shirt. The maze is very hot on a full sun day so I recommend dressing appropriately and bringing an umbrella if you’re afraid of the sun like me. There are water fountains to fill up water and clean toilets and a baby changing area. Overall a very cool experience and one I would highly recommend to break up the day and to see something different than all that amazing nature.
C.
we just arrived 1.5hrs before close, not enough time to play the maze. I like the illusions rooms but they are too small that I used 10 minutes to finish all.
I.
Great place to pop in and check out the illusion rooms as well as the outside maze!
Outstanding customer service, heaps of lunch options and super fun for the whole family to visit :) 10/10
R.
It was great to see it open and really enjoyed it with the grandchild, lots of free parking, and everything still boggles my mind 👍😎
M.
A surprising gem on our trip.
It will take you between 1.5 - 2 hours to complete everything.
A word of warning for those that suffer from motion sickness is that the illusion rooms test the stomach of even the most seasoned traveller :-)
Great fun for people of all ages.
D.
Great maze! It is hard to find the finish once you complete finding all the tower . So great challenge.
Illusion room was awesome. Be aware may get nauseous 😜
K.
Had so much fun here, the maze was decent too!
G.
We preferred the maze over the illusions. It costs $16 for one or $20 for doing both for adults.
Nice range of hot/cold foods - an ice block was called for after 45 minutes in that maze. Some clever and trippy illusions. We were impressed by the realistic statue, and felt a little sick after the tilted room.
Plenty of great holiday photos to be had here.
L.
Great fun getting lost in the maze, the holograms and the optical illusions were awesome
L.
We found the maze to be probably more suited to children, however, the inside area was a lot of fun for adults and the illusions were fascinating. Would recommend visiting if you're nearby and want something to do.
J.
We go here every year and it just never gets boring, 10/ 10 would recommend to all the best time of my life 😁😁😁😁
V.
Amazing place for a family weekend! Illusions rooms are full of optical illusions, big maze is a funny labyrinth and lots of puzzles on tables near reception. I liked it!
G.
Pretty interesting place. Alot of puzzles to play with. Friendly and fun staff members who genuinely wants you to take the puzzle challenges.
Maze looks like easy to solve at first but it's really challenging. Bring your water bottle while attempting the difficult challenge.
Overall a must visit place with friends or family.
M.
Seemed a bit pricey for what you get, but besides that it was very enjoyable.
S.
Worth the visit if in the area. The maze was fun. I found the illusions to be a bit limited though and some weren’t overly interesting. There’s a gift shop for all illusion/trick related items.
d.
Exceeded expectations. go there! it's really really good. Fantastic even.
M.
Was a bit of an impromptu stop but had a great time. Would recommend anyone to go and visit. Lots of great optical illusions.
K.
absolutely fantastic and enjoyable. the tour covers a variety of physical and visual puzzles. the waiting area has dining as well as on-table physical puzzle sets (which, more often than not, require help from the friendly staff to be solved). the outdoor maze is pleasantly frustrating. a place where every visitor to NZ must find time to spend 4-6 hours at.
W.
The maze is a fun way to spend an hour, good for energetic 5+ year olds(and even the parents).
Maze isn't covered, which would be great for wet days in Wanaka. A little pricey.
D.
Loved this place. If you love to see and do things that challenge or just break your mind, this place is where it's at. So glad we made the drive. Made for a great morning.
S.
Awesome family entertainment. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes in the maze - you'll cover 3-5km.
A.
If you have impatient children then don't do the maze.... it's not worth the family arguments.... however a great task to achieve if you like a challenge. We found all 4 corners in amongst the family fued... we couldn't however find our way out as we ran out of patience and escaped out of one of the cheat doors... Happy days!
s.
If u r in wanaka, not bad to spend some time here. A fun place with the family. The mazE is a fun place. But the hoise inside can actually make u very dizzy and loose the sense of balance. A wild experience
M.
Staff were the best, funny, friendly and engaging. Great value for everything it has to offer.
m.
What a fun place. My wife and I spent hours here, we had a ball. Maze was great and certain tasks were a challenge. Plus the illusions were fun for all ages. Must do if your in the area.
B.
The maze here is great, frustrating but great fun... the museum inside was so fun, the tilt house especially. Great for kids and kids at heart alike. Would defiantly recommend visiting.
M.
Amazing Great Maze and a few fascinating Illusion Rooms which the kids enjoyed. A good place to spend half a day there if kids are interested in solving puzzles. Not cheap though for the whole family.
J.
Thoroughly enjoyed! Family fun..
J.
You could spend hours here, getting lost in the maze or going through the illusion rooms, or even just sitting down with some food and a coffee doing the puzzles on the tables.
M.
You can easily spend a fun hour or two here if you're in Wanaka. The tilted room is extremely trippy (and slightly nauseating) but also very cool and made me think a lot about perception. The maze is tricky and a good fun challenge for people of all ages.
E.
a lot of fun for family, nice food. Tha maze was much harder than I expected, avoid that if you dont have a hour to do it.
M.
Very cool place. A must visit if you are in the area.
H.
As an optical illusion enthusiast, Puzzling World hit the spot for me. Experiencing some classic illusions up front compared to just on a screen is so much more immersive. The slanted room was super trippy and messes with your senses more than you'd originally anticipate. Also loved the Giant Maze and was happy to complete it within the recommended time.
K.
Love this place always visit when I'm in wanaka
Amazing gift shop with every puzzle you can think of and more.
Indoor and out door fun plus a cafe
I highly recommend this place all my kids love it and secretly I do as well😀😀😀
A.
Nothing too thrilling but very enjoyable, please consider paying a little extra for the maze, its not so simple like it looks.
E.
Fun place to go. The maze was challenging. The illusion rooms were fun and the tilted house in particular was amazing! There were many challenging puzzles in the cafe for people to attempt.
C.
Best deal ever. So.much fun to be had. Possibly not for littlies
T.
Loved it there are free activities for kids to do and the toilets ain't to bad
T.
Great fun. Good outing and brain exercise for children 🐱
N.
Fun visit to Puzzling World just outside Wanaka, fun for kids and big kids too! Maze game is entertaining way to pass an hour or so.
P.
A lot of different activities and well worth the visit for the entry price. Take time and discover...
t.
Amazing experience for all involved. Make sure you take a drink into the maze..................it could take awhile.
W.
Great experience for all ages. 3D Maze, Puzzles on tables and illusions of the eye.
D.
Great place to take the kids for a half day or full day if you get stuck in the maze! Includes illusion world. Very Enjoyable.
S.
Oh my goodness, it's a big kid's dream! Simply put, I just loved it. Get your brain working, feed that need to solve things using patterns, logic and a lot of patience, or let your little ones run around playing with tangible, colourful puzzle pieces. What could be better? The giant maze works the body as well. Seriously fun times.
The only bit I'd avoid in the future is the tilted room, as I am shocking at keeping my balance when I can't see straight. But everything entertained me and I'll go back any time I'm visiting Wanaka again in the future.
I'd recommend this to all age groups, if you've got a brain for logic.
C.
It's still a good place to visit, the daughter enjoyed it and that's all that matters. I really do feel for the staff and the silly Covid rules they have to follow.
V.
Great place to visit… amazing new things to know
M.
Great Maze to get lost in and nice food with a puzzle to do while you are relaxing and eating
N.
Puzzling world was a fun pit stop and well worth the price. We opted for the illusions only (no maze) and had a great time
c.
Nice experience, we had fun there.
T.
Excellent maze it took me about an hour to solve and the 3D displays were trippy
J.
Surprisingly tricky outdoor maze, we found the required towers fast but then spent a very long time trying to get back out! Was good though and there are "cheat doors" if you are worried or panicked at all.
Inside there are illusion rooms that are a lot of fun and once done there are puzzle tables in the ndoor cafe area too.
Good price for a bit of fun.
I.
Cool place to visit for families. Staff were nice and friendly. Lots of interesting puzzles to solve in the seating area.
F.
This unique attraction should be on your list of must see places in NZ. Lots of optical illusions and interesting things to do.
F.
Perfect for family! The maze is really challenging.
A.
It's in Wanaka. It's a place for fun loving people regardless of age.
S.
Amazing place. Weird optical illusion room. Nice place for children. There is puzzling area at entrance for all levels. Very interesting.
C.
A place to get your grey matter working. Fun, fun, fun
R.
Quite an interesting stop over! A lot of Eureka moments, cool mazes, and a refreshing place to visit when in Wanaka 😇😎
D.
A fun adventure for all the family. Puzzles are available at the entrance for anyone to solve. Then pay for the the Maze and/or the Illusion rooms. The maze is tricky but not too difficult. The illusion rooms are amazing and have lots of photo opportunities. Food and refreshments are available as well as a souvenir shop. Great friendly staff and great service
B.
Lots of fun for kids and adults alike. Can easily lost track of time
B.
Quite small but if you had kids they would happily spend hours there.
The slanting room totally messed with my head, I felt drunk for hours afterwards.
We didn't finish the maze due to starting to get sunburnt and not being able to get back to the car. Either some more shaded bits, or a tub of sunscreen at the start would be nice.
L.
Quirky interactive museum. But I absolutely loved the maze. Fantastic. I looked for a deal on bookme.
Also the cafe there has mini puzzles which is super cool
R.
Stopped here on the way to queenstown, loads of great things to do, great maze out the front. Great way to spend a couple of hours.
N.
Awesome.. 2 hours indoors.. 3 hours in maze . Lots of fun..saw lots of young couples enjoying it and many old couple just loving it.. A must see places..
R.
Always a great time at Puzzling world great place for the kids little or big. Food is abit pricey for what it is but you kind of expect that at these kinds of places.
J.
Fun for the while family. Cafe is very average though, I would eat somewhere else next time... Especially if you want a nice long black.
A.
It's ok. Not entirely sure it's worth the money.
You pay, and there is a large cafeteria type space (not horrendously priced) with a variety of puzzles at every table.
You go in to Puzzling world, and there are cool hologram pictures on the wall, some interesting ribs to explore, visual illusions.
And a maze.
If it's summer, take water. It's hot. Four towers to visit. The challenging one is it do it in order.
It isn't bad. But I wouldn't call it the dress card of Wanaka.
E.
Loved it! The staff were super nice too
C.
Great place. Good value, $25 for an adult for the maze and illusion room. We were there early so not too hot in the maze. Could imagine a half day there with kids as lots of free puzzles to do.
E.
From optical allusions, to gettong lost in the maze what a great fun day.
Lovely cafe and at the tables are many puzzles to test your puzzling ability.
H.
What a fantastic place. We are a family of three with a nine year old daughter and we all loved it. The illusion rooms and maze were great and you could spend hours trying to solve the puzzles on the tables in the cafe. Highly recommend
M.
Great friendly welcoming staff. Awesome interesting place.
V.
It's worth to go and spend time with the kids..
R.
Really good fun well worth a visit
A.
Enjoyed our visit here. Friendly staff, cafe onsite, plenty of space and activities for children. Lots of brain puzzles and illusions for adults. A great way to spend an hour.
p.
Good place to spend sometime with the family and have fun. Some of the illusions were very unique and mind boggling. The prices are affordable and the place is easily reachable.
C.
Second visit to Puzzling World but first with the kids. All fantastic. The new illusion rooms only add to the magic and the maze never fails to entertain. Thank you Puzzling World family
R.
Ok exp. One room was good rest was all ok
G.
Great place to lighten up for kids as well as adults.
S.
Great place for a fun days out with the families!
H.
So interesting. The staff are super friendly! Definitely worth visiting, and is super kid friendly.
L.
Such a cool place we have been 3 times now and the kids live it, never knowing what to look at first. The maze is a real challenge and never gets old.
S.
Puzzling world is awesome for young and old so many hilirious activities and places to stumble across. Loved the maze, would definitely return again and bring the family.
T.
Love it!! Great coffee, friendly staff, puzzles of every type, there will be something for everyone! Massive full sized maze, funky toilets and a fantastical tour you can go through with some pretty amazing things!! Every time we come down South, it has to include a visit to Puzzling world!
R.
Like being drunk without a drink
H.
Always fun to come here. You can enjoy yourself if you are an adult or a child. The food at the cafe is decent enough to make it a fun lunchtime activity. The tilted house can make you a bit queasy but it's a lot of fun when you are together as a group.
M.
Pretty good family activities. Took the Level 2 restrictions seriously controlling entry and had plenty of hand sanitizer as slot of activities required touching. The maze is big and impressive, 9 year old was eventually able to complete on her own.
K.
Puzzle world was good . The maize was great fun
R.
This extraordinary building on the SH6 impresses with its interesting architecture.
H.
Always a must when in Wanaka. Allow at least 3 hours for fun.
M.
I loved the tilted room!!! The Maze is interesting as well and Also! Visit toilets there!😂
S.
Great fun for the family. Very interesting. Close to town and ample parking
p.
My kids enjoyed it a lot and we can spend around 2-3 hours here ...
B.
Amazing. Enjoy the visual art with your family and friends.
A.
There is fun for every one a at puzzling world from puzzles to illusions and rooms the will completely baffle the mind
N.
Even as a group of young to middle aged, sober adults, Puzzling World was an outstanding afternoon of entertainment, challenges, and cascades of laughter.
Maze takes about an hour, depending if you conquer the castles in order or not, and the inside takes about an hour, plus coffee and ice cream time in their lovely cafe.
R.
Best place for kids, great enjoyment.
D.
Really enjoyed the maze and the illusions. Didn't expect it to be that good.
K.
Had so much fun here. Really good time.
m.
Gud brainy activity for children n many scientic lessons are on display
S.
Amazing customer service!! Friendly and made you feel welcome. Facilities were clean and tidy. Maze and illusion rooms great for everyone, especially kids. Just remember your sunscreen.
A.
The maze was so much fun! My family and I had such an awesome few hours here. Would recommend to anyone wanting a team bonding experience and something fun to do.
L.
Great day out for adults and kids. The maze is pretty frustrating but we got there in the end! The illusion rooms are very surreal and really do mess with your mind. Cafe has a good selection of food and drinks. The gift shop is on the expensive side.
G.
Always a must-visit in wanaka, a truly special and unique place. The architecture of the building itself is worth a visit alone, and the maze and illusion rooms are excellent
N.
Definitely worth a visit. Loved it
V.
Fun experience. The maze.is the most fun part.
M.
Really interesting place with an excellent puzzle maze.
D.
Kids loved it. Not that easy, nailed my steps goal for the day trying to knock off that maze!
S.
Such a unique concept... Spent around 2 hours here.. All age groups will enjoy in dis one .
D.
Amazing experience. Super fun maze and nostalgic toys and artwork.
T.
A lot of effort has gone into creating g a very interesting attraction. I would recommend adding this as an attraction for all ages and make time for the maze as it is fun. Service at the restaurant is hopeless but there are some good places really close by to grab a bite.
M.
Very fun place for both kids and grownups
M.
Definitely recommended!
We visited on a Tuesday, it was a busy place. We spent around 2 and a half hours there.
The optical illusion section was very interesting, a hands on experience where you have to engage all your senses. We really enjoyed having a 3D view of background and forefront figures that we otherwise we knew as flat pictures only.
We found the maze challenging but more an activity of chance rather than logic so it wasn't something we particularly enjoyed. There were no cues, no mental exercise to work out. Simply not our style.
I would have expected more interesting products at the shop, we were tempted by some t-shirts, though. I would like to see more of fresh options at the cafe... fruits and salads.
You really have to stop and have a laugh at the bathrooms, it grants a picture or two.
I would gladly visit the place again.
J.
This place is so much fun! The kids absolutely loved the maze (it's more challenging than you think! We were in there for a while) and the food from the cafe hit the spot perfectly afterwards. We even found a few good games to keep the kids distracted for the car ride in the shop ;)
V.
Puzzle wold if you have nothing to do just go and visit this place and blow your mind away with so many puzzles.
R.
Yes had a lot of fun even for us older fraternity hadto use the cheat in maze would have had to sleep there otherwise other rooms are great good family fun
M.
great time and the maze was really quite challenging
P.
Puzzling World is just a good fun place. If you're inquisitive and have a mind that likes puzzles and quirky things you need to check this place out. You can snap some cool photos, have fun looking at crazy images, enjoy the strange perspectives of the illusion rooms and enjoy the awesome maze. The gift shop has fun stuff for all ages if you want a souvenir with a difference too. We grabbed a light lunch and coffee too. There's not a huge range in the cafe but there's more than enough to satisfy most folks and it's pretty good. Pricing is quite reasonable too. We always spend an afternoon here when we come to Wanaka. Great to be a big kid for a few hours!
O.
Great destination for an afternoon trip with the family. Illusion rooms range from standard hologram prints to delightfully dizzying, specially constructed rooms that kids will want to spend a long time in. The maze is well constructed and designed, though your enjoyment will vary depending on your enthusiasm for that kind of thing! May come across a bit pricey for some, but there's not a lot of places like this.
R.
We had a great time in here. Need to go early in the morning, otherwise its gonna be busy with tourist from China
F.
Even if you don't pay for the admission you can have food and drinks at the Cafe. Prices are reasonable and the quality is good. Staff is very nice, too. There are a lot of different puzzles and toys at the Cafe tables to keep your children occupied, my daughters really loved it there
K.
Great for a family trip, but not really for couples. The actual puzzle rooms were interesting but the maze is definitely geared more towards families.
S.
Poor. No improvement since I came in 2016. Needs improvement. I did not enjoy there at all.
A.
#supportlocal. I felt it was bit over priced considering what it has to offer but still worth a visit. It is cheaper to do 2 attractions than doing 1 by itself. Some incredible stuff especially their titled room. Add to your list to visit when you are in Wanaka or Queenstown
U.
It's such a wonderful place to be. Due to time limitation I was unable to opt for giant maze. The illusion rooms were fantastic. Their cafeteria area is so good that they have placed different board games on each table. So, you can enjoy playing some games while you wait for your order. The staff was friendly. I'd surely go back there and try the maze.
M.
It was great fun and very interesting ☺️ We had a great time there and got dizzy in the tilted house 😂
K.
Wow. Great experience for all of us. No doubt it is a must thing to do when around Wanaka. Would definitely go again. The tilted house was amazing but have me a headache for rest of the day :P
k.
Great place to visit, nothing had changed since last being there, 3 Or 3 years ago
K.
So much fun, even on a wet and rainy day. Kept us entertained for hours.
S.
You need at least two hours to do this place justice. If you have only an hour go early in the day as you can return foc later on the day. A wonderful collection of thought provoking and interesting exhibits
P.
Great day out for our family and grandkids.
Struggled to understand the front person and her instructions but apart from language she was very good. Food was very good. Men's toilet urinals were smelly. Otherwise a very good day out.
L.
UNIQUE ! AMAZING! ENCHANTING! ENTERTAINING! GUARANTEE great time for a whole family. A tribute to the owner inventor. Visitors from beyond NZ comment, " Only ONE OF A KIND!!" If sun's too hot, or weather not the best - this is DEFINITELY a MUST!! Recapture the magic of fun family board games here!
S.
Wonderful place to visit. I first visited this place 18yrs ago during my honeymoon and had lots of fun here. This time round, we brought our kids here during our trip to NZ and we all enjoyed ourselves there. The kids loved trying out the puzzles... The maze was also fun for them. A must visit if you are around the area!
K.
This place is so much fun. The illusion rooms were awesome, really plays with your mind but in a fun way, not scary for kids. Thr puzzle cafe at the end is also lots of fun for all. Next time I vow to get to all four made towers - much trickier than I thought it would be!
D.
It's a cool place. It seems a little expensive, but the maze and illusions are a lot of fun.
S.
Great staff great place kids loved theor birhday weekend
A.
Fantastic morning's fun. A must for all ages.
L.
Great for kids but a bit boring for adults - many of the illusions we had seen before. The maze on the other hand was really good! Really challenging and difficult to finish (we gave up after a solid hours effort as I have the patience of a small child)
O.
Nice place to visit
S.
Pretty good. We come every 3 years or so. Would be good if the exhibits changed a bit over time.
I.
went here on a school trip from perth western australia, absolutely loved it
L.
So worth going to. Great staff that needmore people visiting
Z.
The big maze was a lot of fun and the sensory walk was really cool. Well done guys!
B.
Some nice attractions, but it feels that too many small things could have been turned into much more impressive illusions.
The crooked room and the faces that follow you are amazing though... Certainly woth the entry fee.
If you are unsure a great place is the reception area with a shop a coffee and the best, heaps of games to play for free.
H.
Good place, but the bathrooms have room for improvement. The tilted room is by far the best one as you have no clue if the room is actually tilted or not. It truly is an illusion. The wall of heads is also great. This place is lots of fun and I would definitely recommend this to others.
C.
So much fun - and if you can get out of the maze after you hit all 4 towers, you're inhuman, I swear.
J.
It is sooo trippy going through all the illusion rooms..
The maze will confuse the f#*k out you hearty..
Puzzles are, yup puzzling 🤔
Great for children and adults if all ages.
S.
given the modest rating (4.4 at time of writing), wasn't expecting much—but as 3 nerdy adults in mid-to-late 20s, we had a great time! The illusion rooms, which I expected to be gimmicky and childish, were actually really fun; and the maze, while somewhat frustrating at times (that's the point..), was good fun too.
For anyone who likes using their noggin', this is pretty much a must if you're looking for a time killer in the area.
C.
We had an amazing time here. For geeks who love a good puzzle or riddle, this is the perfect place to get some intellectual stimulation. If you don’t wish to pay the entrance fee you can still solve the puzzles on the cafe tables - they can be challenging and still fun with good company. Illusion rooms are fascinating with some paintings of illusions like the photo - just a warning that you might get giddy in the tilted room because your brain can’t reconcile what the physical body is experiencing. You can bypass that if you wish but I highly recommend trying it. The best part for me and my friend was the giant maze! Feel like a kid again . Also use the bridges and towers to plan your next steps . This was really fun. We spent a total of 4 hours here . There’s plenty of free parking out front too.
C.
The place is really great for children. Just being there in the lounge is very comfortable as you can get to solve some puzzle games. The cafe serves very yummy hot food as well, my children love the chicken snitzels.
One thing to see is the toilet! You will be amazed for 2 seconds!
The maze is a real maze, it’s a fun walk!
L.
So much fun. The illusions room provides some fun entertainment. The outdoors maze is a lot more difficult than it appears, but provides a fun alternative to the conventional activities
N.
Excellent place. Interesting for children and adults.
W.
A wonderful place, so well maintained and very engaging, friendly and helpful staff and nice food in unique dining room!! We loved it
S.
Great place had lot of fun. Kids had a ball
T.
Really entertaining place. Will definitely work out your mind and reasoning skills.
C.
This place will keep your mind busy for hours. And if your not busy doing the puzzles then you have the maze and illusion rooms to do. Bookings required for those.
2.
Good fun for the whole family!
B.
Have always loved this place, and really enjoyed taking my kids. This was a great afternoon, the only thing that could've been better would be more and better puzzles...seemed a bit cheese heavy and not enough logic and puzzle focused.
D.
Excellent fun. Kids loved it. Adults enjoyed it. The maze was great. Worth a morning or an afternoon, with kids.
If the sun is out, be aware that there isn't heaps of shade over the maze. Kiddies (or even adults) without a hat and water may not last the distance.
J.
This place has a great variety of toys, attractions, and activities.
Absolutely loved the illusion rooms, especially the tilted house and the room where you can be tiny or a giant.
The maze was surprising good, with lots of getting lost and laughing with other patrons about it.
Is a good place to bring young and old, especially those into puzzles and optical illusion.
I liked the art gallery and would encourage Puzzling World to integrate more art and illusions into their outdoor maze. They're really missing an opportunity.
The staff were amazing. Everything was clean and everyone very friendly and helpful.
J.
Much better than I had expected. The puzzle rooms were definitely worth visiting, especially the tilted room (assuming you don't get too motion sick). Children loved the illusions and puzzles. The large outdoor maze looks innocent, but it is not so easy and kept people going for a really long time as they ran about.
S.
You can really see the heart and passion this family founded company has. It is a bit of fun for the family, my favorite parts were the tilted rooms and the maze - although it may be worth noting that the maze may make you crazy frustrated and it pays to do it on a full stomach to curb hanger!
D.
Fun for all. Allow extra time of doing the maze. Iced chocolate was just a primo poured into the glass so only 4 stars.
A.
Loved the place. Very interesting puzzles, maze was fun for the kids and adults too. Staff is really helpful and they have quite interesting puzzles for sale. Illusion room was brilliant. It’s a good break watching the beautiful sceneries outside.
N.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I appreciate the mathematics involved in formulating the illusions. Very good for adults too.
If you're a simple minded person who takes things at face value, then you'll probably find it boring. You should try to think and understand why and how the illusions work, just looking at them expecting your eyes to trip out - is just a waste of an illusion.
J.
Had a wonderful day here. Was worth the drive from Queenstown. Kids loved all the illusion rooms and the maze was actually pretty challenging, but lots of fun. Would definitely recommend. The seating area had lots of puzzles and games to play with while enjoying a coffee. Great concept. And great photo opps. Would recommend.
w.
It’s good and you can see for kids 6 and up they would love it and to be fair if it were just me and my wife we could have spend an hour there.
But if your kids are 6 or below they will get very little out of it. They will run through it in 5 minutes flat and your wallet will be 35 dollars lighter for the right to do so.
It’s not aimed at that age so that’s no slight on the facility it’s clean and well appointed and the staff are very helpful. I’ll just stick to farm stays and parks until the kids are that little bit older
K.
Had a great time here. Competed with my partner in the maze to see which of us could get around 1st. We both did badly lol
S.
great experience. tried the indoor games. thrilling for kids and adult. have cafe which is good for parents waiting for the kids playing inside the game room. outdoor also nice. we went there and it was raining. so spent time inside. food and beverages quite nice
M.
We just take a look and pass by. You still can have a lot fun when you pose and take pics.
J.
Pretty awesome, my wife and I loved the outdoor maze especially even though my younger brother ended up beating us! Tons of fun for adults, probably for kids too but I don't have any experience there
T.
Not much if anything changed in last 12 years. Dated and service was very average. Kids did enjoy a few things but not what it was worked up to be, I let them rate this and 3 stars was a push. Both girls aged 7 and 12.
S.
Fun place to visit esp with family or kids
S.
Great place. Took a long time for us to get out of the maze. Lots of laughs along the way.
I.
You can just go there alone, with friends, with kids... You can just play for free... 😉

Went there on labor weekend with 2 little kids and 2 elderly parents - Could not go to the maze hence. But the illusion rooms are fun. Most of it is already on internet, but experiencing it was cool. Small cafe at the reception area and cage tables topped up with cool puzzles - means you can actually enjoy your coffee with toddlers running around. My 7 year old (frustrated from all grown up sightseeing) absolutely loved it. A must do on a rainy day.

This place is fun to visit with young kids. Great maze, the puzzle rooms are good and have a nice science theme to them while being fun. Plan to spend 1-2 hours here, then move on to something else (great hike starts just across the road!)
K.
Great place to take the kids, both the maze and the illusion rooms are worth the visit
B.
Place for exercising your brain and have fun.
S.
Fun activity to do if you’re in Wanaka. We went without our kids but would love to bring them next time. Just want to say it was a pleasure to meet Jeremy on the front desk, amazing customer service, friendly and happy to answer any questions. The tilted room alone is worth going to see! Thank Puzzle World!
T.
The tilted room was really neat, and the maze is surprisingly confusing for its size. It's nice to be able to play around with some puzzles in the café too, which was reasonably priced. The staff were very helpful and resolved a double booking issue very quickly for us.
P.
Nice place loved the Illusion worls and the puzzle maze
L.
Lots of fun for the family. Highly recommend a visit
E.
Great for kids and parents to do things together
S.
It is fun when the weather is nice !
R.
Really fun place for kids and adults. Had fun running through the maze. Definitely recommend visiting it.
M.
Really interesting illusions here. And a great maze. Unique place to visit. Could do with having staff help with the room/size illusion so people can have cool lasting pictures, rather than just the tv feed.
N.
Great place to go if you love puzzles and it's raining/ cold! Slightly more aimed at kids however I'm 25 and still thoroughly enjoyed it! Staff are awesome!
M.
Loads of activities for families, well structured with the maze first, then the indoor illusion activities. They even have games on the tables in the cafe.
G.
It was alright. They rely heavily on tourists for income, so prices are a bit inflated to cover costs during the down season (if this was located anywhere else, they wouldn’t be able to fetch these prices). The maze was quite fun and well designed- enjoyable for adults and kids. Before you start, make sure the weather is clear for the next hour or two because it is slippery wood and they do NOT give refund or raincheck, even if you hadn’t begun. No exceptions (the manager was blunt and a bit condescending as he divulged this information). The illusion rooms were well thought out and definitely kept the kids interested.
R.
This is an amazing place and kids will definitely enjoy it the most must visit for everyone
T.
It’s really entertaining and must stop place for Wanaka
n.
Nice little place with a selection of 5 different categories of puzzles. Mostly visual but this is a great introduction to kids and in some cases even to adults to this interesting world of puzzles. The staff were friendly and it is located in beautiful wanaka. Been there twice and enjoyed it.
A.
Great to see if you're in Wanaka! The illusion room and tilted room are very interesting. Maze was fun! Bathrooms were a little disappointing and maybe need updating, signs around the place showed how 'cool' the bathrooms looked, then when I entered I was let down a little haha.
T.
Best place fun for the family cool illusions.
P.
Such good fun for adults and children alike! The illusions are amazing and the maze is a challenge to get out of! Lovely cafe and gift shop. Well worth a visit.
R.
It was good fun! Cheap activity, the maze is harder than you think!
F.
Awesome experience here. I was expecting something aimed more at kids but it was brilliant for adults too. There's a really good maze there and my parents got stuck in it which made the day even better! Some really interesting displays all around and would definitely go back.
K.
A bit out of the way but worth a trip just to blow the kids minds.
J.
Great place, fun
R.
Not a big "world" but my kids really enjoy it. Can spend 2 hours easily if you do the maze, otherwise probably 45min to 1 hour including the shop which has some nice puzzles
S.
Full disclosure - we didn't enter into the maze, rooms or any of the paid exhibits. Rather we spent about 2 intense hours in the cafeteria, moving from one table to the other and gobbling down coffee and chocolate. Those tables had puzzles on them and it was sooo much fun trying to solve them :)
T.
Great fun, we spent about 3 hours here doing everything. If you're in the market for a new game or two to add to your collection, you can try them out before you purchase these at the gift store. We really enjoyed the variety and the complexity of the various games available. The toilets are a must see!
R.
The idea of the place is interesting, but we felt it is expensive for what is offered. We were with a five and eight years old. The tilted room is really cool and it's what, for us, made the visit worth it. It is small, however, and would increase a lot the value of the place if it had more attractions similar to the chair and Bullard table. The holograms and illusions, as well as other parts are just ok. Ames room was a bit disappointing. We did not really enjoy the 3D maze, although the not so good weather did not help on that. The "puzzles" in the hall are great for children and adults that enjoy these challenges. The shop offers several of these puzzles, but expensive.
J.
Had a lot of fun on a rainy day, really excellent place to take the family for a day indoors! Staff is very friendly and helpful! The maze has emergency exits! It was so much fun!!! Seriously though, emergency exits, genius, and thank you for that or else I’d still be wandering around somewhere in there. 🤗
H.
Great day out. Well laid-out maze that's a genuine challenge if you do it in colour order. Illusion rooms are really interesting - the sloping rooms are a good laugh, as is the ames room. Really exceeded my expectations and nice to have some puzzles to play with while you're eating lunch. Definitely recommend
D.
Great place for a bit of family fun, or to rediscover your childlike curiosity :)
Pies were quite tasty.
We especially liked that there are puzzles and games to do in the lunch area.
The maze was much bigger than we had thought.
We had originally planned to just drop in for about an hour, but I think we spent about 2-3 there all up.
S.
This is a really good place to take your kids. My 6 year old son really enjoyed the illusions room. What a great way to show children how science works. We also had a meal at the cafe, which was nice and loved playing with the puzzles in the lunch area. Definitely worth a visit.
D.
Great food, awesome activities to see, the maze was fun. A cool place for the Family to go!
I.
The maze is cool; I really like it. Finding the four corners was easy for us, but finding our way out was almost impossible! We finally gave up ☹️
The illusion rooms are just so-so. Worth a visit especially during rainy days.
H.
funny with your family
b.
We had a lot of fun with puzzle world. Open your minds eye and expect the unexpected. Take to the maze and achieve all 4 corners...
M.
Wonderful place to go to! Each room in the puzzling world is just brilliant and with the maze outside it just gets better! Have 2-3 hours to see the whole thing and solve the maze taking the advanced level, it would be super fun. Also carry something cold to drink as this will get a lot tiring, or you could just have something from the cafe
B.
Contains 5 different puzzling rooms and 3 hrs time was well spent indoors especially when it's raining outside ;)
A.
I thought this would be a little young for me but it was a lot of fun.
The cafe has a large seating area with numerous puzzles scattered throughout. One can easily spend hours here before or after the main attractions. We were time poor so we only did one (it was hard).
The outdoor maze runs around the entire building. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE IT. There are two options for completing the maze. We went for the more challenging one and it took 90 minutes to complete. No one is watching and you don't get stamps at the towers so be honest with yourself (or not, there are exits all around the maze for the weak-willed).
The museum part however is very short (hence the 4 stars). The tilted room is hilarious and trippy and is definitely the star of the show. The room with the heads reminiscent of Faceless Man from GoT comes in second. Everything else felt like filler.
Definitely worth visiting though. If you want to do the maze during warmer months I recommend going as early in the day as possible because it's an outdoors activity and gets super hot especially when you're flustered!
S.
The name is spot on.. some very puzzling things to see and if you love a good maze, you'll be in your element. A great one for the kids to do. Make sure you do both the puzzling world and the maze.
G.
We went here with 3 children on a wet day it was great loads for the kids to see and do
V.
Friendly staff and amazing illusions. The whole family will enjoy.
The cafe food is good and has some free puzzles lying around to keep kids or adults busy. There are toys for the little ones too.
We also took ticket for the maze but with elderly and young ones its a bit too long and strenuous due to stairs to go up and down across different sections. After spending 20 mins in it we decided to quit.
So kindly make an informed decision and probably not waste money on the maze like we did 😊.
For the illusions however would highly recommend it.
A.
I love you this place. The range of illusions and puzzles is brilliant, there will be something there to catch the imagination of everyone.
And then there is the maze. It is a true maze where you really have to think about going in the wrong direction to be able to get where you need to get to. It does your head in, but great fun.
A great day out for kids and kids at heart.
I.
Nice place to visit with friends and family, especially children will enjoy a lot. Better to buy tickets / voucher from online places like grabone or bookme for cheaper deals. Friendly staffs. A lot of puzzle to play with and nice wee cafe. Maze area was good. There are some good opportunities to make more attractive and exciting. Illusion area is better but only a few places. Enjoyed the time there :)
J.
Pretty cool maze. Enjoyed it
N.
Even as a group of young to middle aged, sober adults, Puzzling World was an outstanding afternoon of entertainment, challenges, and cascades of laughter. …
K.
Great for a family trip, but not really for couples. The actual puzzle rooms were interesting but the maze is definitely geared more towards families.
R.
Yes had a lot of fun even for us older fraternity hadto use the cheat in maze would have had to sleep there otherwise other rooms are great good family fun
D.
Awesome place for kids
J.
Good place for family fun
D.
Loved it!!! Very interesting exhibits and very well thought out. The best I have ever visited. Would recommend to to all ages.
M.
Loads of activities for families, well structured with the maze first, then the indoor illusion activities. They even have games on the tables in the cafe.
L.
We got to all 4 corners of the maze. Can you. Great fun.
S.
Puzzling world is awesome for young and old so many hilirious activities and places to stumble across. Loved the maze, would definitely return again and bring the family.
C.
Great staff. Food average. Too many people hovering so you feel you can't actually take the time to enjoy the attractions. Far too expensive to be rushed. Not a visit twice activity but worth a look to kill time
J.
Best place ever, consider it a giant playground for all ages. Ended up spending 4-5 hours there going through all they had to offer. The staff are super friendly and the illusions are definitely worth going to see. A must see place in Wanaka.
A.
Interesting Place to be. Specially for the Kids its a good funtime
A.
You can sit in the cafe area for free and play with the puzzles. Some are really hard and will drive you crazy for hours. The exhibits that you pay to go into are fun too but some of the illusions cause me to feel motion sickness. The kids enjoyed running around the maze. Give yourself plenty of time here - it will keep you busy for hours if you do the maze and the table puzzles.
R.
A great place to test your brain power and imagination. The maze will test your endurance and patience, allow plenty of time for this. Plenty of puzzles to keep you entertained while having a light refreshment and a cool drink. Go and test yourself at Puzzling World.
G.
The maze is the best part, definitely need more than half an hour in there, it was awesome.
S.
Definatley one for the kids,, but the great maze is quite fun and challenging.
A.
I thought it would be more impressive inside. We got a combo for the rooms and maze, but ended up not going to the maze because it was sunny and they said it could take more than 1 hour to complete. We had small children with us.
Inside the illusion rooms it was so crowded with children with horrible manners. We could not take photos because kids were going everywhere running. Overall, I was expecting a bit more
T.
My husband is in a wheelchair so we asked specifically about accessibility for him. We were told we could make it to 2 of the 4 towers in the maze so were happy to give it a try. We still had to pay full price though. We made it about 4 meters in and the manual wheelchair(with attached freewheel for better outdoor maneuverability)became almost impossible to move in the thick gravel so we were forced to give up. The kids had a good time though and made it to all 4 corners easily.
All other areas were accesible with the wheel chair. Some of the 3D/hologram pictures weren't viewable from a seated position though again, the kids enjoyed it.
We all enjoyed time together doing the puzzles in the cafe. And the staff were lovely.
For the hefty pricetag we paid I dont feel it was particularly good value for a family like ours.
n.
Located just beside the road when you on your way to the town. They have a big signboard and a big slope building outside that will help you recognize the place very easily.
They have multilevel maze and indoor optical illusion room. Perfect for family activities. You can spend about few days there.
They sell the ticket with maze, indoor or combo which combine with both.
A recommended place to go in wanaka.
G.
A great place to spend an afternoon. The main attractions are the illusion rooms, the outdoor maze and the puzzles in the cafe. We spent a lot of time solving puzzles in the cafe with some snacks and coffee. The puzzles are really good. Illusion rooms are ok, good to check out once. The outdoor maze is also fun and usually takes about 45 mins to complete. Overall a good experience!
S.
Got lost for nearly 2 hours in the maze, the last tower was hard to find. Well worth the effort - the whole location with it's different rooms & shop were very entertaining
T.
Amazing! Great for families, or couples, or groups. Illusions are so well done, and truly make you question what you know. It really gets your mind thinking about how it's all achieved, and perceived.
The maze was fantastic, surprisingly difficult, without being frustrating.
Make sure you bring a jacket it jumper in winter - it gets cold in the maze!
A.
Pretty cool place! Definitely worth a visit! The maze is a must, really pleased I got it all! :)
R.
A bit overpriced for how small the place is but still fun for a rainy day. The maze has a cafe inside so you can ditch your kids in there while you have a coffee.
D.
Loved it!!! Very interesting exhibits and very well thought out. The best I have ever visited. Would recommend to to all ages.
T.
This is A good place for the whole family to have some fun with their brain and a maze for the kids to run around.
G.
Nice to stop in and see fun for all
M.
Really cool attraction! The 3D maze is surprisingly pretty tough to complete. The illusions are awesome, especially the tilted room and the inverted face room. Only downside I can think of is the cost which isn't even really that much... ~$20 per person
S.
Haven't been here since I was a child, was nice to take my own son. He is only 9 months but still had an awesome time.
R.
Great place to visit for fun and mind games and knowledge and surprises.
C.
You pay an entrance fee, the reason we did not get in.
R.
Quite entertaining 😁 we enjoyed it very much. The maze isn't easy at all, be prepared...
R.
Good place to spent time in there, We took 2 hrs have fun in the Puzzling world.
T.
Very cool place for kids and adults! Good luck in the maze! I especially liked the room that messed with your sense of gravity. The lounge and cafe is awesome too, lots of puzzles to exercise your brain and let kids play around.
J.
Had a blast here when I came here during the summer and I had a slight mishap because my clumsiness which I now look back on and laugh about. No doubt I had an amazing time and there's plenty of things to do here, it's busy which is good for business and there is plenty of car parks. Had lots of fun here and I can't wait to come back.
S.
Severely over-estimated my puzzling abilities! Tried out the difficult version of the maze and it took me over an hour and ended up having to use one of the emergency exits as my bladder won out! Really great place though, and the puzzles in the cafeteria are really cool.
K.
This is a good place for both kids and adults, especially if you enjoy puzzles and illusions. The illusion area is fun ( loved the tilted room), and the outdoor maze is a good way to spend an hour. Inside has a cafe with many tables that have selections of puzzles to play with.
P.
Had a lot more fun than expected here. The tilted room and the 3d maze were particular highlights. It's very well organised with good signage, interesting facts to go with the displays and suggested photo ops. Well worth a visit.
