I really like this Cinema I used go and see a lot of movies here when I lived in Brooklyn, they also have a really good awesome cafe that has a liquor license so you can have a drink when see your movie. But getting back to the cafe. They have a really good selection of food and have a great selection of vegetarian and vegan options. Their big vegetarian breakfast option is really nice. Prices are really good. I highly recommend going in their for a meal and catch a movie .

Excellent theatre
Lovely, helpful, friendly staff.
Meals are normally great.
BUT AVOID THE CURRENT DISH OF THE DAY AT ALL COSTS. See picture attached
It is a totally bizarre excuse for a meal.
Three or four very thin slices of beetroot eight or so green leaves
A very small sprinkling of nut pieces
A tiny amount of white yoghurt like sauce.....And a plate.
I have a 15YO grandson who could have eaten the whole meal in ten to fifteen seconds........
James Bond was excellent though!!!!
A.
You've got a cool cinema! It is small but nice and warm and comfortable.
Food was delicious for lunch.
Tickets are cheap and the Grab One deal is awesome.
We will definitely be back :)
J.
Love the movies. It is always busy. The icecreams are sizeable and do not come in plastic bags like some theaters well done. There is a good menu and plenty to choose from the cabinet.
D.
movie theatre was good. staff although friendly were disorganised. Booked a table in the morning. They had it written down but not set up or reserved. Food was poor. Steak was hot and cooked well. Served it on a cold plate so everything was coldish. Potatoes hadn't even been heated through. Formica tables. No vibe. No effort put into surroundings. Wouldn't come back for dinner sadly.
C.
We had lunch here before watching a movie. I enjoyed my meat pie from the cabinet and my friend very much enjoyed her eggs on toast. It was interesting that lunch doesn't start until after 2pm on a Sunday. So we had the brunch menu, which wasn't a bother, it's just fascinating. Their seating is very comfortable both in the cafe and in the cinema. The staff were very friendly. The only thing was that we were sitting in the top corner of theatre 2, and there was a draft that kept coming through the top exit. It was an extremely windy day, but it did get a bit chilly during the movie.
B.
Fabulous place to either enjoy a movie or treat yourself to something delicious to eat, or both! I love the old fashion style of it, and gosh, there are so many comfortable couches to relax. The cafe is beautiful, the food is great, the staff are super nice, there's parking available and it's kids friendly. I couldn't ask for more. Besides, Brooklyn is such a lovely area, you won't regret going for a walk while you're there.
F.
Lovely place to come to watch a movie.
However I would be cautious about the food. Had one of the worst soups I've ever tasted
A.
Went just for coffee + chips. Coffee adequate but long wait for the chips. Staff efficient around tables.
G.
Went to see the last James Bond film with Daniel Craig in it. Great film!!. Had lunch down in the cafe, had potato salad, and a hot chocolate drink, but was disappointed with the drink not being hot enough!! After all, it is a HOT chocolate!!!
L.
Comfortable and clean. Nice food and drink. Great venue to see a blockbuster movie.
A.
An old-fashioned and elegant cinema located in the heart of Brooklyn. A nice place to catch up with old friends, have a lovely meal and see a slow-paced movie.
S.
I had such an amazing time here. Smiley, kind, attentive staff, cheep tickets and brilliant food. I recomend the burger or tacos.
R.
Love the old movie posters in the building. Great selection of movies available. Very nice staff on duty at the cafe. The bacon and eggs pies were delicious but the ginger cakes we had for dessert were very disappointing - much too dry. Regardless this a a worthwhile cinema to visit.
L.
Nice cinema, but not the best sound proofing. Can sometimes hear traffic outside on the main road during film viewing
G.
The movie was great but the dinner there beforehand was only ok, fried leek turned out to be gross and felt like wood in the mouth.
A.
Fantastic steak meal at the Penthouse tonight. After traveling the length of north island over summer the quality of the food and service was a delight - best steak we have had.
Very nice and reasonably priced drinks list. Lovely staffer to chat to.
Great choice for a fun relaxed night- even without the movie, which was great too.
Cinema and Cafe have been classics for years - improving with age! Thanks team
R.
Nice cinema, reasonable meal. Good night out at the movies.
G.
I love these little cinemas, however they need to get rid of the poorly functioning parking meter, and install air conditioning.
A.
First time. I really like this cost cinema complex. A few side rooms off the main lobby to hang out on comfy couches in small groups or on your own. A bar/cafe with table and chairs. Quick friendly service. Comfy cinema seats. All round great!
S.
The Vogue Suite is such a bad cinema they should decommission it or have cheaper tickets. Cinemas 1, 2, and 3 are okay but dated.
G.
Another cool older urban cinema with a good cafe and service. Seating and viewing is good. Provided parking is excellent. Highly recommended.
D.
Love the retro styling. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Food is a good standard, nice fit with your movie.
R.
Cool cinema, cafe is nice too. Was in the Vogue Suite cinema this time, which felt a little strange to watch in, as it is long and thin. The other theatres in the complex are great though. Really nice staff.
D.
Love coming here for the whole experience done well. Coffee, food, movie, atmosphere 💥💎 I only took one star off as the place is getting a bit worn out and could do with some maintenance and a spruce up. For example, the seats in cinema 3 are lovely velvet in a light colour and the arm rests between the seats were VERY dirty, blackened from so much use and presumably no cleaning. If they just gave them a daily wipe with fabric cleaner this could be prevented.
D.
I like the small town feel of penthouse and the onsite cafe does the job, but the parking machine needs to be upgraded to accept more then just coins, the cinema seats need a clean and you need to get popcorn!!
D.
Retro indie cinema with a great vibe, good food and a well stocked bar.
This one is a bit out of the way for us but we always love coming to relax in the chilled out atmosphere. Eat some tasty food. Drink some tasty wine. And catch a quirky or interesting picture.
The screens are well set out and the seats are spacious and comfortable.
There is parking - but you have to pay with coins. We always arrive with no coins.
Our last visit was with a grab one deal (look out for these) for our wedding anniversary. I had a burger and a glass of pinot. The food was great and the film was too.
Perfect for dinner and a movie.
D.
I did not know the cinema comes with a restaurant 😊
And the we jad fabolous dinner with a nice movie 🎥. It was a great evening. The food was way above what we expected. Good fresh quality and cooking.
5 ⭐ for giving us joy and fun and good food all in one place.
T.
Super friendly well run boutique cinema with great food and drink too. You can make a full night out here. Coffees are great too.
G.
Gr8 atmosphere good food
A note to the owner
ive been going here for over 3 yrs and never had a bad experience
But today i had one of your large sausage rolls
It tasted like it was cooked in a microwave oven
The pastry was not crispy like normal sausage rolls
and the meat was very rubbery
i asked for tomato sauce but got relish it didn't help the taste sadly
im not changing my rating im jst bring it to your attention so you can address the situation
The person with me agreed
Regards Gary
J.
Good movies and great parking lovely people and food
J.
Penthouse is a great theater. Good selection of movies always. Cafe has lovely food..been going there for years.. enjoyable outing for everyone.
D.
A good movie theater enriches any community and this one is definitely the case. Seats are comfortable, but would be nice if you could lean back. The Monday burger and beer deal is pretty good, though could benefit from some jalapenos or something spicy. But the theater itself has a wonderful feel, with vintage posters and and photos adorning the walls. Highly recommend for your next movie night!
R.
Seats were comfortable.
Layout of ticket/snack counter inconvenient.
One unpleasant lady served me at the register, I hope not all service at this cinema is like hers.
Attracts an amateur film critic or senior citizen sort of crowd.
Only been once, I hope to visit again some time and have a better experience.
R.
One of the Rare times we didn't have coffee or anything to eat..As you all know the foods '' DEVINE '' at the cafe..We saw COUSINS though what a movie..Loved it..Next the I'll take photo's the Food looked so YUM..
K.
A friendly venue with lots of different spaces for movies and parking provided
H.
Sat in the parking lot one night. Perfect parking, great decoration in side. If you're an artsy person you'll love this cinema
R.
Iconic theater In Brooklyn Village, easy parking and always a great range of movies - the theatre does a lot to cater for the silent gen, baby boomers and gen x which seem to be their main clientele and they do it well. Theater is very warm, inviting and cosy in an elegant style. Great bar & eating area. Not a huge fan of their smallest theatre which is pretty average and nothing like the small theatres at say the lighthouse theatres which have a far better layout and feel to them. However, the larger theatres are all good with comfortable seating great Dolby sound systems and screen clarity. In all a great theatre and one of the mainstays in Wellington on the theatre circuit to guarantee a good night out at the movies.
G.
Lovely cinema - My wife and I visit often.
E.
Comfy seats but movie snack selection is a bit disappointing.
A.
Its pretty good. Except for the fact that the food had a sudden change a few years ago. I got a piece of French toast. I assumed that it was going to be sweet(as there was maple syrup beside it) but when I took a bite? No. No it was not sweet. It was spongy, weird, and overall tasteless! The movies and ice creams are good though. Haven't tried the food since.
M.
Quite a sweet place. Quite old and renovated.
J.
Nice food, interesting concept. Cinemas are quite dated but that adds to the classic feel. Pasta of the day was nice but a little light for for my appetite. Burgers were a good size and had lots of nice thick cut chips.
I.
Great venue. Food is very good and excellent choice of films.
T.
Dinner and a movie. How good. Maybe too much seasoning on the gnocchi
n.
Nice theatre. Watched a film in the Vogue Suite. Hope to check it out again, this time in the main screening room.
D.
What a nice cinema to visit, nice to grab a glass of wine, sit back and enjoy a movie. The atmosphere and people who come here make it a great place to visit.
The seats are nice and comfortable and one can take a blanket over the knees to take the chill out from the air conditioning.
Parking is easy, behind the cinema and one can pay inside that is just another nice thing that makes the experience perfect
T.
Prompt, helpful service at even a hugely busy time. Great cinema setup - good sound level (clear but not too loud, like some places). Comfy. Haven't eaten there for a while, but when I last did, it was good.
H.
Pretty nice cinema with amazing free food like double ice creams and lollies bags and also lollies bag scrambles. The cafe has decent seats but the entry is quite small bits it's still fine, huge building with good sets of places to watch movies! The smell though... The smell is ok everywhere but the cafe, its smells like socks LOL but it's still a amazing cinema with epic food so I would recommend coming here for free ice creams while watching a movie!!
D.
Delighted to find they have a parking area next to the cinema 👍🏼
k.
Went to a evening screening. Good service from friendly staff at the cafe and the ham n cheese toasted sandwich was brought to us with salad and very nice tomato relish all for a cheep 6.50. Good wine selection topped it off. Only bug bear were seats in the theatre weren't built for tall people but hey I come to expect that anyway. They also supply rugs so you can put over your legs if you tend to get cold which was a nice touch. A well earned 4 stars.
J.
👎Long lines/ wait time to pick up tickets, 👎$ p/hr for parking, 👎a REALLY small food selection. A great theatre though, 👍 sized seats (👎that could do with a serious clean), an offer of 👍blankets in a basket. Sadly 👎 no ushers in the theatre. The Decor throughout the theatre is 👌 period and venue appropriate. Just a couple of things to work on and the place would be 👌
S.
Great food cabinet, and menu for pre and apres movie dining, but cream out of a can let's the side down
J.
Great cinema with an excellent variety of films + heaps of parking which is always a bonus in welly!
D.
It's a lovely theatre, but the Vogue theatre was freezing.
K.
Love this place lovely food and wine good customer service great movie selection. So recommend you visiting it for a morning or afternoon tea lunch or dinner. Thanks for always giving my husband and I a lovely time.
G.
I love seeing movies at the Penthouse. The seats are comfy and there are blankets to borrow if you get chilly. Parking is super easy (except when three blockbusters are showing at once, which doesn't happen often). If you don't have cash for the parking machine you can pay inside, and the staff usually give you a little discount. The cafe is very popular and gets busy, so allow plenty of time if you plan to have a meal. Since the building is old, sometimes the air conditioning inside the cinemas doesn't totally work - sit near the front in summer, up the back in winter.
B.
Lovely Cafe, perfect for pre-movie meal. Sometimes busy so best to book ahead.
Cinema seats are decent.
I.
We went there to watch the movie "Tolkien". It had a great atmosphere, and we loved that they even had blankets in case you get cold. Unfortunately our movie was interrupted by a power cut but their great customer service (and when I say great, I mean really great) helped us to be able to finish watching the movie another time.
N.
Spicy cauliflower very disappointing. Barbeque sauce? Vegan burger was nice but the bun was very powdery. Great chips (fries). Cinema makes up. Comfortable seats with plenty of leg room. Good sound a system.
A.
Cinema good ... but restaurant disappointing compared to how it used to be. I had a Grabone coupon for 2 dinners and movie tickets. Would have been good value but they found extra things to charge for in the fine print ... even though other aspects of the fine print implied they wouldn't be extras.
Plenty of flies buzzing around in the restaurant. Food nothing particularly special even though it cost more than expected
P.
Don't ask me why. This place and Fidel's just capture what I like about Wellington in one. Not flashy, nothing pretentious, just damned comfortable places and bloody good at what they do. We always find an excuse to bring people here. Not overwhelming or underwhelming... just warm & whelming.
C.
My first time at this theatre up on the hill. A range of cinema sizes and a great selection of movies on offer. I was here to see the quaint Irish offering "Lost and found". The venue being in the smallest of The Penthouse's screens called the Vogue Suite. Around the corner, down the corridor and up the short stairs. Just 30 odd seats, but the image and sound quality was great - often these tiny screens aren't much of an experience - this wasn't one of those. A nice cafe on the ground floor offers a range of smacks and beverages. Staff are cheery, and friendl, and it's so nice to have the option of lattes served in real crockery when at the cinema.
P.
Friendly small Cinema, restored lovingly by an enthusiastic community. Mainly known for art house film showings, they do show some mainstream films too. Avoiding the crowds in cineplexes is certainly the best way to enjoy a film here.
Booking and staff help if fast, friendly and efficient, allowing you more time to enjoy the cafe here.
The cafe make great coffee and tea, which you can bring in to the theatre along with the delicious food. Which is just as well since service can be little slow, but you shouldn't try and rush perfection anyway.
Parking is priced reasonably but do come early as it can be scarce in the Brooklyn township.
C.
One of Wellingtons historic cinemas. Beautiful facade. Cafe food available which is a good option. Limited parking on site. Good movie, good food, good service. Can't ask for more.
L.
My go-to-how-are-ya local. Whenever I'm watching a new movie, you can bet that nine times out of ten I'll be quite comfortably tucked away somewhere at the Penthouse.
Gone are the days of the tangy fruit and coke sit ins. This lot pushes the envelope right down the centre of the table with coffees, cabinet snacks and small meals.
Ocassionaly, I find myself at the Penthouse just to dine. Best little booths in Wellington and walls daintily covered in romantic pictures from the golden age of Hollywood.
G.
Great place for coffee and cake, or a meal and film. Great service.
A.
Awesome movie theatre nice selection of food and drinks. A pleasure to visit
J.
Cute little cinema with a somewhat rambling, labyrinthine interior and a friendly little cafe. The theatres are comfy and the cafe food is tasty (plus there's a good selection of local brews on tap)
Plan ahead and get there early if you want to eat before your movie though! Staff are occasionally optimistic with the timing on plates..
T.
The quality of the meals deteriorated a year or two ago but but they have improved recently.
Always a good place to watch a movie.
P.
My first time here and a very nice cinema experience
Good range of beers, we didnt eat here, overall a good place.
K.
I've been going here often for years and generally like the place. The coffee is almost always good and the atmosphere and ambience are always good too. Most of the staff are friendly and efficient and do their best and I'm sure they can get some very demanding customers too when the place is busy.
However, I've noticed that the menu food can be very varied depending on who is cooking - often the poached eggs are over poached and parts of a cooked breakfast can be cold while other parts are hot. It's not about perfection but more about consistency as we all pay good money for café food these days.
Some of the staff go out of their way to accommodate you and that is always appreciated but not expected. Going the extra mile though does equal good customer service though so that's got to be good for business.
I guess I would like to just see more consistency with the breakfast/brunch meals as I have these often and it can either be lovely or very hit and miss.
On another note - can they place look at fixing the entry and exit point to their carpark - it's awkward and needs sorting in terms of the curb and safety.
Hope that helps as I will continue to go here because I love the ambience and the kind staff.
A.
Stayed at an AirBnB in Brooklyn. Great location with local village feel. Walked to the Penthouse Cinema and Cafe both nights for meals and cinema. This place is amazing and very popular. The movies are the latest releases. We saw The Favourite and Green Book in small intimate theatres. Staff are very friendly and obliging. The meals are lovely and there's a wine bar too. Chocolate dipped ice creams - yum! Wish this was in my local town. Can thoroughly recommend.
R.
Comfy seats, and crazy crowds because its film festival time, all managed with aplomb at the same time as running a great cafe. Penthouse is an art deco suburban survivor morphed into a boutique 3 screen cinema. Catch the bus or walk and discuss the film on the way home!
I.
Nice little local cinema, have a good selection of films on all the time.
Not a bad price some of the screens are quite small though but it’s worth it for the cosy feel!
C.
Like stepping back in time to the golden age of cinema. Good food at the cafe and great atmosphere and very comfortable seats in the cinema. Also really good deals on Monday and Tuesday nights...they also cater for parents with children and senior citizens.
Y.
a good deal with Groupon vouchers to eat and have a movie there, otherwise the food is quite expensive.. Had the steak and the fish for main, they were alright, just both were a bit too dry. Desserts and ice cream are very plain......The theater is good. Can take food with you inthe cinema.
R.
I love this place!! It's just a short walk from where I live, which is a bonus😊 The staff are always friendly and I love the art deco (?) design on the ceiling upstairs. Downstairs theatre is small/cosy while upstairs is larger. Lots of old movie posters on the walls, too😊
J.
Wonderful place. Very nice cafe and lovely movie theatre's. Great movies and no rowdy uncouth teenagers. One of my favourite places in Wellington. I am a regular visitor to Penthouse cafe and theatre and have been so for many years.
W.
Friendly staff great facilities
M.
Had a complaint which was dealt with by a manager. The manager was amazing and restored my faith in The Penthouse. The complaint partially our fault but was happy with the outcome. Thanks for giving us vouchers to accommodate our situation. I appreciate your customer resolution and service.
l.
Awesome staff, great prices and the food was tasty. The seats in the cinema were comfy and overall the place had a very cool, laid back vibe. 🔥
O.
Surprisingly out of the way, but still (technically) in walking distance of the CBD. Quaint. Surprisingly large nonetheless. Surprisingly busy when I visited on a Friday evening. There were so many elderly people there that it, somewhat paradoxically, made me feel really at home.
Sadly I have to lower my rating for two reasons. Firstly, they don't have PayWave. Secondly, while the screen itself was very good, the sound quality (particularly in the bass) I found was rather subpar. There were rattling noises that the speakers gave off which is something you'd expect more of a home setup than a professional cinema.
They have 2 dollar posters, though, so think on that.
B.
Nice little cinema in an old fashion, with a cafe inside where you can enjoy a drink and some food before your film. I recommend!
H.
Love this place! Went on a $10 Tuesday :) Will be back for sure Love the old school cinemas, only $2 an hour for parking, and if you go in the evening you can smell the yummy cooking From the restaurant and it makes you hungry ;)
A.
Historic Cinema brings joy for generations. Had a superb breakfast. Scrambled eggs wilted spinach and crispy bacon. Delicious. Photo added.
L.
Only went to the cafe, tables very close together so can feel very over crowded, the scone was yummy and the hot chocolate was perfect on a cold winter's day. Staff seemed a bit over worked with the amount of people there, especially with so many kids. Not a peaceful place
M.
Came here for dinner and a movie. A small mishap with one of our food items was quickly and professionally sorted out by wait staff and an apology from chef. The rest of our meal was great. Definitely be back again.
H.
Love this place, quite a chore getting here because of the busy traffic but worth the visit. The staff are great, food is super!! Highly recommend.
M.
Nice small theatre. Has a good cafe and you can take food and hot drinks into the theatre with you. Free parking next door if you give your car registration to the counter staff when you purchase your tickets
L.
My first visit to this place. This is an old time cinema so the atmosphere reflects this which is how it should be. Step back in time and enjoy what a visit to the theater used to be like.
M.
Lovely cinema that oozes charm. I went here with my partner for a date night, and we had a really nice dinner at the restaurant before the movie. The seats were good and the atmosphere was cozy and perfect for a night out.
M.
I love visiting the penthouse. In the last week I have been three times and had dinner twice. Wonderful atmosphere and a great asset to Wellington. Unfortunately the staff are lacking. Lacking in enthusiasm lacking and customer service.
A.
The gentleman looked after us very well. Our dinner arrived at 8 pm when the movie was about to start. However, staff handled the situation very professionally organising us another session with vouchers
D.
Comfortable. Great range of movies, snacks and beverage. You have to pay for parking which is pretty average.
F.
Small, cosy and comfy. However, the wind is blowing too strong and there is banging sound when seated on the last row, quite distracting. Understand the wind is extremely strong that night, but I think such incident can be resolve. 👍
J.
Great vibe in this local cinema with good options for films. The cafe has all types of food for a snack or meal - or just a coffee ahead of your movie. Comfortable seats in the cinemas too
C.
Love this place. The food is a bit pricy but they have gf bread to make rich toasties, and lovely ice cream. The cinemas are good too.
C.
Very good. Great food. Would have liked arm tests in theatre to hold drinks
C.
Great to see a movie in such a lovely setting. Seats were well spaced for level 2. So comfortable.
M.
Terrific atmosphere. Seating is comfy and cinemas are excellent. Food at the cafe is terrific and tasty. Parking can be an issue and is the only reason why I don't give it 5 stars.
J.
Staff are friendly and helpful, great food, cinema's are very clean. Always go here as it has a great atmosphere.
S.
Nice cinema, big seats. The restaurant is a little dated and to food isn't too amazing. But I would go back. Good brownies!
C.
I love the cinema but I’m not a fan of the cafe or the staff. They tend to be really clipped and stressed out. I don’t know what is going on behind the scenes but everyone looks miserable. Great looking building tho.
E.
Had a delicious large breakfast here, thoroughly enjoyed it! It is a bit on the pricey side.
The place has an amazing atmosphere and is obviously well loved by the locals. A real meeting place.
E.
I was here for a talk for Studio Ghibli and Studio Ponoc.
The speaker had great difficulty with his slideshow, often requiring someone to go into the projection room and manually change the slides from there. The annoying thing about that is rather than someone stay in there, they would run up there whenever something went wrong, left the door open so it was super loud while they changed one slide (which was sometimes a few minutes), then exited until the next time it was needed.
Jeff (the speaker) was not equipped with a microphone so I could barely hear him. When he asked someone in the audience something, there was no way to hear their response, either. I was probably 2 thirds up the seating.
The technical issues, which really cut into the talk time, coupled with struggling to hear, made it frustrating.
E.
Lovely staff, so friendly and professional. The cinema is a bit worn though it was comfortable. It smelled damp too which wasn't pleasant.
K.
Great old cinema. Well loved and very busy with above average cafe/restaurant and bar. Multiple themed lounges.
Great selection of movies.
A.
Enjoyed coffee and cakes with family before watching a film. The old style theatre was comfortable and the "cosy" blankets were a nice touch.
J.
Great place, cool cafe
L.
Nice little neighborhood cinema.
It has a nice cafe and good food.
Unfortunately seats are not very confortabile and the sound is not the best. It's about time for a little upgrade.
L.
A nice cinema with a lovely cafe. It would be nice to have free parking included in the price of a ticket.
M.
A relaxed place. The café is OK and the cinema is comfortable and not too big or crowded. Limited selection of movies is expected given its size. Definately preferable over a cineplex if they are playing the movie you want to see.
P.
This place is beautiful, well laid out. Service and food great and the cinema, right up there in terms of seating, sound and picture quality.
S.
Great set-up for an escapism from reality!
S.
A Wellington institution...and just a note in memory of Floyd the cinema cat who sat on cinema goers laps for many years. This arthouse cinema is in an art deco building and is warm and cosy with comfy seats and even blankets provided. They show good films including one off screenings of international art exhibitions (eg David Hockney, Botticelli) and opera and theatrical performances. They are also the current host of the 48 hour film competition. The cafe is good and you can take your coffee or wine into the screenings. Free parking is tight, but there are cheap car parking areas on both sides of the cinema.
D.
Good quality films, also very nice dining area, especially if you have dinner before they movie or even during the dinner break!
A.
A lovely small cinema. Nice atmosphere and the cinema isn't too big so there's no risk of ending up being sat too far away and not being able to see the screen properly.
b.
Sound quality is so 2000 late yo
A.
Queues long, go very early if you're attending a movie during peak times. No popcorn. Only ice creams. Not much choice for food so eat first and byo snacks.
G.
What an awesome place. It was a step back to the 70's but in a nice nostalgic way. I'll go back there again.
D.
Seats in cinema 1were really dirty and filthy. Could do with a deep clean.
D.
Very nice film viewing experience.
Plenty of grey hair for Gold Carders.
J.
Fabulous cinema with brilliant friendly staff great coffee and superb food. Definitely my happy place
D.
A longstanding presence as Brooklyn's main cafe / coffee stop [at least until Cafe Caribbean opened], the Penthouse really adds to Brooklyn's character and amenities.
It's focussed on the art house / independent end of the film spectrum but not to the exclusion of "decent" major releases.
A bonus is the live / live-recorded plays and operas that they show - thee bring a little of the wider world to Wellington.
The cafe has been 'just' good enough value, but it's not super cheap. The place has been going a gradual upgrade process over many years and is now in good nick.
R.
The best local cinema in Wellington. Great coffee, food and the seats allow you to set back and enjoy the many quality films dished up for the patrons.
F.
Transaction fees on internet bookings are actually $1 per person not transaction...that is misleading!
R.
omg it's the best cinema I've ever been to. Love the ambiance and the people are so friendly.. absolutely amazing.
A.
Good, food good, but better if it had popcorn; maltesers nd frozen coke
K.
Amazing movies and cheap entry. If you go at the right time the cinema is almost empty. Show lots of new movies. Only negative comment is not that big compared to other cinemas.
M.
Have attended this theater many times over the past 45years.Without exemption my Partner and l have enjoyed excellent service and both tasty food and comfortable, relaxed theater experiences.
G.
Excellent atmosphere for this small theatre. Good coffee and friendly staff. Sometimes for small release films, this is the only theatre in the area that will play them.
J.
Always great good and coffee and all timed for pre cinema timetable. Fabulous movies also
M.
Big enough to have some atmosphere but no so big that you feel like you're in a rat race. Great service, good food drinks options and good movie theatres
V.
Cute, vintage, fancy place to go watch a movie. The girls nights are really fun!
R.
Always nice to go to this theater but it is in need of a spuce up and staff need to clean tables between after people use them more quickly.
M.
Friendly staff. Tasty food and good choice of wine. Just what we all like to have before or during a movie
K.
It's a wonderful cinema. Yummy food, good coffee and a great movie is a cool way to spend an evening.
D.
Excellent cinema with lovely ambience and friendly staff. Though movie was decidedly average (Once upon a Time in Hollywood).
L.
A great place for good movies. They have discount prices on several days. Great coffee and cafe too. Four theatres to close from.
C.
Great little cinema, highly recommend, and has a nice restaurant to have a meal before or after the film A+++
d.
saw a movie here in the main screen, and it was freezing, we had to keep our coats on during the film. also the sound quality was not as good as some of the other cinemas in town.
N.
Enjoyed our evening at the Penthouse, dinner and a movie. Dinner good and slice very good. Good service and good value using a grab one voucher.
