Beautiful place, beautiful people!!!this place is just awesome absolutely love it...The camping ground is so cool, has all amenities, dog friendly, the owner is such a nice person, and it's beside the ocean...grab some oysters for a feed..go kayaking...there's also an awesome wharf to go fishing as well...just loved it!!!

Great camp. Quiet and friendly. Just remember to pack in as there are no shops.
D.
Beautiful hosts at this camping ground. 🏕 The renovation is soo much better than it was b4 they moved in. Charmaine sells ice too which is an added bonus to keep your bait or beers cold. 🍻 Cheers guys.

Didnt actually go into camp ground, we drove past. Lots of changes, for the better by the looks.. still people there enjoying the area. Water was very rough today, but still awesome
v.
Its a lovely spot but was overcrowded between xmas and New years and very noisy at 1pm and 5am from non English speaking people who show no respect for camp rules plus to have that many people camping in tents and only two showers. Other than that its a nice spot but not alot for kids to do unless you had a boat.
K.
We stayed for 4 days, beautiful campsite and very clean. Charmaine was very helpful and friendly. Already booked for our next trip. If you need a place to relax.
T.
Nice campground with moderate facilities, including basic kitchen and hot showers at $1 which last reasonably long...easy access to the water by boat or kayak only at high tide. The camp periphery was littered with rubbish, and would benefit from a cleanup. Would recommend staying here.
W.
A brilliant we camp ground & most pleased we came in for a 3 day stay. Hosts are very friendly & make you more that welcome. It is Kiwiana @ its best with good showers & toilets.
s.
The perfect kiwi retro camp ground smack bang on the waters edge, excellent kayaking also good coastal walking when tide is low. Dog friendly and far enough away from everything for peace and quiet. Proprietors are very accommodating & friendly, take all you need as it's a fair way back to the nearest store.

A beautiful seaside camp ground with Kitchen, Warm showers, BBQ area, laundry, WiFi available and Pet friendly. Two boat ramps located either side of the campground and a third all weather boat ramp 200m away makes this a boaties paradise. East coast sea conditions with West coast fishing

Basic camping with mainly caravans which blocks the water edge a bit. Tent only space would have been nice as the big caravans always park across the view which is a little selfish I think, and makes it impossible for a little tent to relax by the waterfront. But otherwise, the owner of the campsite was great and super friendly, and gave some bait to help catch a fish at the fantastic wharf nearby. Good snapper off wharf. Amenities are basic, and the nearest shops are 30+ mins, so quite isolated. Nice spot to feel the nature and old fashioned way going camping.

We have always loved this place and continue to do so. However I need to give my sincere apologies to Charmaine who runs the camp as I reacted very strongly through an email recently. The pandemic has caused extreme heartache and deep division between families. At the time of writing I was very upset and disappointed in the camps Vaccination Pass requirement as this meant we could not camp as a family due members health status making them unable to be vaccinated. We were excited to come to Tinopai again and highly disappointed we could not be together I reacted without thought for how the email would be recieved. We have had a wonderful weekend, a fabulous site and hope that we can mend this lack of foresight on my part and remain friends and camp colleagues in the future.

Happy New Years 2022
first time camping in Tinopai, Had a really great experience and a fantastic start to the New Year, Tinopai camp ground has got fantastic facilities well happy about that, nice family environment, my two boys loved the fishing spots and the beaches, met really nice helpful people (regular campers) they were all really freindly and knew all the good places to check out, Tinopai campground will be my new favs hotspot for camping, I will be recommending to everyone to check it out.
Thank you Charmaine for your kind hospitality, the campsite looks amazing, see you soon....

Had a really relaxing time in Tinopai. Stayed in the cabin with amazing views. All the locals and the campsite guy were extremely helpful and looked after me well. Would definitely head back there for some more R&R.

Very cute and quaint campground. If you like the quiet, you will love it here! There is ample seafood catching spots walking distance from both ends of the campsite and it has a beautiful backdrop of the Komiti Bay, and the Kaipara Harbour.
D.
Recently spent an enjoyable time here. Our hosts Mike & Charmaine were extremely friendly and helpful. It has all the facilities most campgrounds have even though they are not as flash as others. Despite this it is very tidy and clean here. Will definitely come again. Dave & Mary Webster

Great place for R&R walks bike riding
And short drive to Kauri Museum and Maungatoroto

Absolutely adored this facility! Cute, quaint and everything you forgot to pack for camping was there. Amenities were clean and the location is beautiful right on the beach. The proprietor was very amenable, friendly and even offered a free fishing trip if you were keen. Very very cheap and plenty of space for the family, friends and the family furry four-legged members. Cheers Frosty no doubt we'll be back again.

An older style, pet friendly, relaxed camp grounds. Spotless and well maintained. Ended up staying two nights.
k.
Nice stay in Tinopai. Beautiful quite spot can see the fish jumping some day's.
G.
Neat little camp, a must stay if traveling the Kaipara coast
k.
Cheap and cheerful. Right on water's edge. Take 50cent coins for showers
L.
Such a beautiful spot, campground is lovely, they even have a herb garden the campers can use and fresh free gange eggs, fishing from the beach at high tide, perfect place to unwind for a weekend
J.
Lovely wee camp. Just perfect tight on the waters edge.
B.
Great campground, $12 per adult, extra $3 for powered site. Two fifty cent coins for shower. We parked up in campervan, non powered site, right by the beach. How many campgrounds have sites literally on the shore line? BBQ area, friendly manager, we'll be back 😃
S.
Great fishing location. Yes facilities are abit old but if you just want peace and quiet and are stocked up this site is a must.
K.
Cute wee campground that likes to kick it old school. Rustic kiwi experience right on the harbour. Facilities clean, but like I said - old school! All functions well and does what you need 😎 Super quiet location, away from the hustle and bustle. Watch out for incredible stars on a clear night. Dog friendly.
W.
Manager not there the whole time, paid another camper our money to pay on our behave. No water pressure in showers or washing machines. Nice area next to the water and good sites. Intermittent ph signal.
A.
Great value for the price. Well-kept campground with hot shower facilities($1 for 5 minutes) , toilets, a fully-equipped kitchen, clothes washer, and even wifi-for-purchase if you needed it. The staff are lovely and welcoming as well. We had a great time!
N.
Great campground, basic but adequate facilities. The lady at the camp was wonderful & helpful and she gave us good travelling tips. There is a wonderful view in front of the water...one of the most beautiful views around. There is a short walk to the warf where you can fish, locals are welcoming
R.
Frosty is a beauty!! This place is awesome, the value for the cost is amazing. 10/10 this place was incredible.
They also have hot showers which is amazing if your living out of the back of a van like we are, a bbq area, and a space to do your cooking.
Plus they have wifi so you can stay in touch with the rest of the world if that's your thing.
The drive down is gorgeous and the campsite itself is too. Awesome.
D.
Beautiful spot very peaceful

My Husband and I have been camping at a new campground/ holiday park every weekend. He picked this campground and we surely had nice relaxing time there. It took us 2.5 hour to reach from Auckland on a friday evening. The price for a powered waterfront campsite is comparatively very affor. The facilities are decently clean. The view was spectacular during high tide but not very picturesque during low tide. Bare in mind it is a remote location so once you reach there the closest 4 squares grocery store is 36kms away so take sufficient food.
E.
Great place. great hosts water at the door if u like to fish.a very relaxing campground. Prices are very good, and dogs and cats welcome. We had the best of time doing nothing. Ellie Dobbs/Lionel Grylls

We've stayed at Tinopai a few times before and loved it.This time although it was windy, we were enjoying ourselves. Unfortunately a couple and their son arrived with a very solid dog. As I walked around in the grounds, the dog bounded toward me and as the photo shows, belted into my leg! Next day we were out of gas so decided to cut our visit short but at the same time, I was too frightened to go outside. Sure enough, as we were hitching up the caravan, the dog started to run toward me again . So , this is nothing against the camp as we enjoy it but this was an unfortunate situation.
R.
Very peaceful and I am sure there is potential to be good fishing, but I didn't catch any so 4 stars instead of 5.
V.
Would be lovely in the Summer, but bit bleak when I did drive-by in June.
Looked a bit abandoned at this time.
Road sealed all the way there though.
C.
Lovely site right on the water. Very clean facilities. Will visit again.
A.
Nice quiet campground. The toilets could be cleaned more regularly. If you care for fishing you can even catch legal snapper from the beachfront
A.
Great old school camp. It has very basic facillities but the price is right. Beautiful location although it can get windy. Reccomended for more independant campers
R.
Beautiful spot by inland harbour. Flat and well mown with nice shade trees. Facilities old but adequate. Good value for money.
m.
Great place for its price its beautiful place
A.
Perfectly adequate but one shower not working and the dining area being a covered outdoor area is chilly on a cold night.
