Really peaceful way to spend a couple of hours. The variety of animals is great and you can follow your nose to picnic around the park. Text was my favorite its not everyday you get to appreciate just how big Texas longhorn cattle really are. Food is great really recommend you suppor this small business.

A wonderful family adventure day. Feeding and patting all manner of animals. Even Guinea pigs! The sheltered food area was nice to sit under for a wee rest after so many pats. Lovely.

Great place for families! We love the range of animals that you can get up close with and feed. Also love the kids play area and area for refreshments to relax after seeing the animals. Staff are friendly and welcoming, will certainly return next time we are in Hanmer!

Cool little animal farm at a reasonable price. Is a very interactive place where you can get up very close to some deer, wallabies etc. Good for kids but saw a few unattended and attempting to climb over the to play with the Buffalo's. Plenty of signs around to notify people of the dangers, maybe a few visitors need educating at the front desk or someone on patrol? Awesome experience however and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Cool little farm with many different animals that you can get right up close to and hand feed if you want. Our girls also loved the big open space to run around and the trampolines 😅 highly recommend especially for families w little ones.

Cute wee place. Probably more suited to younger kids but my teens still loved it! Would love to see real trees for proper cooling shade for the animals in the scorching sun! The sprayers were a great addition to assist in keeping them cool. Staff were super friendly!

Highly recommend if you visit HanmerSprings and especially with kids. Open and wide area with cafe ,trampolin, table and chairs. Bring your picnic lunch is welcome. $3 a bag of feeding food to animal. Entrance fee is reasonable.$13 Adult

Lovely little place. The kids Absolutely loved it. The animals are very friendly and very excited about being fed the food you can buy at the entrance. It's possible to go inside the baby deer and wallaby enclosure.

Lovely friendly animals, especially the wallabys, which were a particular hit with the entire family. They are incredibly soft, feels a bit like possum fur, and very approachable. OK variety, though the goats are a laugh ☺️ They do allow you to take a picnic lunch in, though ghee is a cafe on site. This was a big plus 👍

Such an awesome park. Fully enclosed and safe for little ones to explore at their own pace. Animals were all friendly and our daughter loved them. The coffee at the cafe is fantastic and all the staff are amazing. Highly recommend.

We spent hours here and had a blast. The kids loved the deer, horse, and wallabies especially, and we parents loved walking around with a warm mug of coffee and watching our children engage with so many different animals. The menu was simple and perfect for families, highly recommend.

This is one of the places to go visit while in Hanmer Springs. The admission cost is fairly priced, and feeding the animals here is worth the $3 NZD. The animal park has alpacas, llamas, sheep, pigs, wallablies, emus, chickens, deer, donkeys, and many more. I recommend this place for a day trip with the family or a casual outing.

A magic little animal encounter spot in Hanmer Springs. You get to actually touch the sheep and Wallabies. We loved it. There is a super cute and friendly baby goat you can cuddle.

We loved this wee petting farm. Friendly staff, clean and tidy and great access for the children to get hands on and touch/ feed the animals. Animal feed available to buy and our daughter got to feed milk to a baby goat, which followed the children around. The trampoline and gravel/ sandpit were also a winner with our 3 year old. Great cafe. Would definitely recommend to all parents, enjoyable for you and your littlies. The hard work is already done .

Very cool place and I recommend for all animal lovers! There is a goat & deer who followed us around the whole park and it was quite funny. We loved being allowed in the wallaby inclosure and yeah it was just all round great. A nice break from the pools. My only concern is there is hardly any shade for them who are in their enclosures from 10-4pm and there is a mama chicken with a bad foot. I told cafe staff but I felt she wasn't really interested. I hope it was reported to the owner but I doubt it.

The kids had a great experience it would be good if there was a playing area for kids , a gift shop and better toilet facilities especially when they encourage people to wash hands after feeding the animals.

We're fussy about this sort of place; this one is pretty much the best we have visited. It's tidy, clean, the animals are obviously their first priority, and we're really glad we stopped. Loved the Texas Longhorn, goats, and fallow deer best but getting close to the wallaby, despite their rep as pests, we cool too.

I took my granddaughter in the holidays and she loved the animal park. Very hands on feeding the Guinea pigs and feeding lots of the other animals and patting wallabies and deer. It was a great place to visit. A must see in hanmer😀

Visited 6 years ago at the old location and thought that area was better as it was more intimate. Nevertheless, this is a pretty good attraction to get up close to the animals and we especially liked being able to feed the goats (very hungry), deer (aggressive) and wallabies (docile and lovely). It was a very hot day when we went so bringing along water and hats is a must as there's no shade. Beware going to the pond where the ducks are, towards the water buffalo, as the water is stagnant there are sandflies. Thought the place was just ok.

Good time for the whole family. Hand on petting zoo. Not just your common farmyard animals, has water buffalo, long horned cattle beast, which I hand fed. Kids loved the Emu and goats and wallabies. Had lunch there, was nice relaxing while the kids continued to play with the animals. Great fun!

This one of the best animal parks I have been to! It was so neat and tidy, well kept the animals were absolutely beautiful! And the best part was you were allowed to interact with them. Nice little animal Park. You can walk in to some enclosures and pet the animals which is nice. Still pretty basic outfit and facilities but they working on it still I think. Pigpig was a star too.

Awesome place to take the kids. The staff are super helpful and friendly. The range of animals is great to see, they are all well cared for and friendly. Our children enjoyed being able to hand feed them all. The coffee and hot chocolates we had afterwards were very good. Thanks a lot team, we will be back again.

As with many other trips to hanmer the animal park is a must. Great for kids and very friendly staff as well as animals unlike some big city wildlife enclosures. Wee deer running round, water buffalo which is a must to see wallabies, goats and much more. There is a wee cafe in site and a store with soft toys and more. At a very reasonable price this is a must when you visit hanmer

We love the interactive aspect to this small animal experience. A little hard to find if you are not paying proper attention but still within walking distance from Hanmer Town centre. Our kids loved that you could get into some of the enclosures like the sheep, wallabies and baby deer. It made the holiday really special for the little ones. Cafe was a little limited on vegetarian options other than the stock standard but food was convenient considering how long we stayed! Allow plenty of time, especially if you have little ones as they kept going back to pat the animals they could! Will visit again for sure!

This was an awesome place to take all the kids for a day out in Hamner springs besides from going to the pools. We all loved it and thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the beautiful animals there. Really special for kids to interact with the animals and be so close to them and be able to pet them and feed them etc. Great food too! Definitely recommend setting aside a few hours to enjoy your time here :)

This place is a must if you are near Hanmer! Perfect for kids and adults alike. Great interaction with animals, food available to hand feed most animals and you can also get a cheeky pat from most of them! I never thought I'd be able to pat a water buffalo! The staff are lovely and the animals are all obviously well looked after. Great range of farm yard animals such as donkeys, goats and sheep to the more exotic yaks, Texan long horn and wallabies, and many more! :)

We came with few expectations and only expecting to spend an hour. Four hours later!! Great fun for all the family and we all loved hand feeding the animals. So many alpaca selfies!!! What a lovely space and considering that we went in the middle of summer holidays, not too busy. We didn't stop for food but it does look good!!!

I can't believe we'd never heard of the Animal Park! It was so awesome, you get to hand feed the incredibly friendly animals, and there is a good range of animals to see and learn about. The park is thoughtfully laid out for the beat interaction with animals, and the owners also have a nice wee cafe. You can have a cuppa while the kids run off and play. We will definitely be back!

Way more than a petting zoo! I wish that the animals weren't penned up in the hot sun on rocky ground though. i did feel really sorry for llamas and sheep. They really needed some type of shelter built.

Animals are lovely as always, but the lack of real coffee (percolated doesn't count) and minimal food meant we cut our visit short. You're missing valuable revenues by underdelivering on the coffee and food front.

Very Small Animal Park - Got a chance to look at Ostrich, Deer, Rabit, Goat, Cow, Horse, Hen & Buffalo. Neat and Tidy. Trampoline and small kids rides were free to use. No Paywave. Both Debit and Credit cards accepted. Easy parking. Had small Cafe at Entrance wherein Coffee, Muffins and Sandwich were available. Placed the order for Coffee and Muffins which were above average. Owned by a private owner - must say well organised Animal Park, u don’t have to walk a lot, all the animals are just in a small radius. Went there with our 10 months old Daughter and she enjoyed a lot. Nice scenic drive from Christchurch to Hanmer Springs Animal Park.
