The Wainui Bay car park turn off to start the Abel Tasman Coast Track can be easily missed. Look for the Wainui falls car park on your right and you will know you are close. Stay on Abel Tasman Drive for 700 metres and turn left onto McShane Rd. Drive 3 kms 5 minutes and you'll reach the car park where you can leave your car overnight.

Wainui Bay is just absolutely beautiful. Car park is easy to get to and well organised. Water is as warm as anything and it is so easy to get around! Highly recommend

Parking lot right next to the north most entrance into the Abel Tasman National Park. From here we were able to do a 5 hour walk to Separation point and back. There are additional walks and biking trails to do from this car park. The walk overlooks the gorgeous bay and coastline.

Great walk to Taupo point. Requires rock hopping at low tide or steep. Limb. Somewhat challenging if not too fit 🙂

I think this car park serves its purpose well. I had just finished the able tasman walk waiting for transport back to Nelson. The end of the walk has a beautiful moira carved walk through.

(Translated) This parking lot is a good starting point for a day at Abel Tasman. From there we did a 20km hike to the separation point and back. The pure hiking time was just under four hours. For the most part, however, we were traveling relatively quickly. It makes sense to take a break on the beach at the hut. (Original) Dieser Parkplatz ist ein guter Startpunkt für einen Tag im Abel Tasman. Wir haben von dort aus eine knapp 20km Wanderung zum Separation Point und zurück gemacht. Dabei betrug die reine Wanderzeit knapp vier Stunden. Wir waren jedoch auch größtenteils relativ zügig unterwegs. Es bietet sich an, unterwegs an der Hütte eine Pause am Strand einzulegen.
