A very nice campsite. It is clean and just next to the waterside. Can rent a kayak for explore the surrounding. The pool is nice. It would be even better if it is hot and sunny. Was there on a rainy day, the owner is really nice to allocate a closer site for us. Very appreciated.

We enjoyed our 3 night camping holiday at this small cozy holiday park. We like that they required a Covid-19 vaccine pass. They were able to give us 2 sites next to each other at short notice which was appreciated. Friendly management. The services were very clean and we really enjoyed our twice daily swim in the thermal pools. We will return!

We stayed 7 days at Athenee what a fantastic place to stay. Every thing was so clean and tidy. The staff are so cheerful and happy. The kid really enjoyed the 4 wheel bike's. The pools great even got a shop on site. We will be back to this fabulous camping grounds.

We stayed 3 nights ( again ) at this gem of a campsite on a powered tent plot. These plots are very comfortable, even if today's cars have grown somewhat! The service was impeccable as usual. This oasis, less than 10 min drive to Waihi Beach, was busy, but once again we felt quite at home here. The facilities are immaculate. Clean and lovingly cared for by the fabulous Athenree Team. No question was too hard to answer. We have stayed on a few campsites all over, including Top 10's but Athenree is by far the best we have come across. Awesome guys 🤗 We will return very soon. 10/10

First time staying at Athenree, and really liked it, nice large shady site was perfect for our caravan (it was busy so needed a motor mover) but that was explained on booking. Shown to our site which was a lovely touch and the facilities are all very clean and tidy...best I have seen in fact. Great location for estuary & beach access and great place to get to walks etc, will be back.

We love Athenree campground! It is super safe and friendly. Incredibly clean with excellent facilities. The kids love being independent and have freedom to move around the camp - they especially love the games and tv rooms! Athenree campground is in a perfect location - close to a variety of activities… surf beach, estuary, pancake house and an easy drive to town if you forgot anything! Thank you for having us Athenree, We thoroughly recommend your holiday destination!😁

Lovely campsite with great views. We had have a wonderful colourful sundown all days. All facilities are very clean. The well heated pool is absolutely fine to relax in the evening. We will definitely come back.

Fantastic place with great amenities. So we'll set up for children with a playground over the quiet road next to the water, free kayaks to use, games room, TV room, hot pools and a huge safe trampoline. Everyone was so nice and it was so clean. We will definitely be back Thanks.

On coming up to the Bay of Plenty to purchase a caravan, we were told to come and stay at Athenree Hot Springs and Holiday Park. This was excellent advice as this place is amazing. The staff are extremely Friendly and helpful. The facilities are the cleanest in the country I think, with regular cleaning all day. The pools are beautiful after a long day relaxing. They are emptied every day to keep them in tip top clean condition. I would highly recommend anyone to come and visit here. The bird life is amazing here and so close to beaches and walks. We come here in November. Now its March. Hmmm, have to leave soon.

We stayed two nights in a motel unit with sea view. Apart from the council chain-sawing a large tree near or unit when we arrived, our stay was pleasant and quiet. We have stayed a few times in the past. The only complaint is beds in the second bedroom are too narrow for an adult and I felt rammed up against the wall. Could do better by putting one conventional singe bed and mattress in that room. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. We have great meals at the Waihi Beach RSA.

Awesome spot, spotlessly clean, we stayed in our motorhome on a powered site and son and granddaughter stayed in a cabin. Sea was right at our door. The facilities like the hot pools and games rooms were wonderful on rainy day and lots of kids equip too. Showers/laundry etc was free Thank you guys we will be back. Great value for money too

Just spent 5 nights there on a powered site. Wonderful place which is kept immaculate by the friendly staff. I was pitched up near reception and therefore saw all the comings and goings. I was very impressed to see the staff personally leading new campers to their sites. The hot pools were very inviting. I will be back. Alan

We had a lovely stay at Athenree. There are a variety of accomodation options. We chose a cabin for the first night and a motel for two nights. Everything was clean, the place was full but quiet. The pools were beautiful and the office personnel very helpful. We will be back.

Lovely place to stay and unwind, have already been recommending it. Only thing missing was a cafe. Think it would be great if it was attached to office but deck out front looking over street and reserve. go and get a coffee in the morning and look out over the water.

What a great holiday park!! Friendly staff, amenities incredibly clean, and the best of all, the hot pools ! They are free if you camp with them, and it was just so relaxing and exactly what we needed. Highly recommend this place :)

Fantastic camp run by switched on owners. A great place to stay, rest,overnight . Location is beautiful. Camp facilities top class. Pools are great. Can't be missed location. Will come again.

Great camp all round. Very clean, lovely hot showers, well equipped kitchen, large camping sites, lovely pool and really friendly, helpful staff. Really good location close to Waihi Beach and on a lovely inlet with great views. We will definitely go again.

What a fabulous place to stay. We will be back There is only room for a few small improvements to an already heat place. The 2 convenience block could be improved by: In the gents toilet adding a Hair dryer. In the kitchen adding a freezer.

Very helpful and friendly staff and the facilities were really clean. The kids really enjoyed the holiday so much we extended our stay an extra day. Will definitely go again.

Beautiful spot, wonderful staff and SPOTLESS facilities! I spent over 2 weeks here and the staff were wonderful when my pet died. Such a nice place that will always have a special place in my heart! I holidayed here as a kid and it was even better as an adult! You won't regret staying here!!!

Nice friendly staff, excellent super clean facilities and great location within Tauranga Harbour. There are 2 lovely hot pools to soak in. The Harbour was over the back from our Campervans and was great for paddle boarding but not so much swimming as tidal. Waihi is a very short drive if you are after a nice beach. Took a short bike ride around the area but not a biking destination. Great place to stop in for a couple of days and relax.

Spotlessly clean facilities with well groomed and attractive grounds, friendly hosts and right across the road from the sea, this holiday park was a wonderful place to stay. We had booked our tent site for 2 nights but added an extra night on because it was so good. At high tide the estuary is great for kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and possibly kids playing in the water.

Another great stay as always, Thanks again to the Athenree team for providing such an amazing, spotlessly clean space. We stay on a regular basis and are never disappointed ! Great team, Awesome place!

Stayed here twice now, one of my favorite holiday parks. Clean utilities and bathrooms, friendly staff, great sized sites for camping. Recommended to anyone with children !

What a pleasant clean place to stay. The facilities I wonderful and clean as is the whole campground beautiful peaceful place to spend a weekend with friends and family. Hot pools for the kids or a Safe estuary to swim in kayak and boating and fishing.

As 1.5 yr "Newby On-site holders" we had to share our consistent experience of staying here at Athenree Holiday hot pools & Park. What a truly lovely place to stay, (even in the peak season, not over crowded safe and family focused) with sparkling clean amenities, friendly supportive staff. The Managers Leigh & Grant are always welcoming and accommodating, it has pristine grounds (which seem to be for ever evolving and improving) nothing is ever a problem with these people!!... the location is stunning and pools are simply a hidden gem 💎 and a must, must, must to come and try... just soak your work worries away, we do .. lol ....Pete and Belinda (the owners) are fantastic humans!!..and make this place feel like a home away from home everytime we visit, thank you guys... you and your team rock!!. :)

Family friendly and exceptionaly clean camp ground with hospitable staff. An idealic setting that is a relaxing place to stay. There are local beaches and other attractions nearby to enjoy, too. Highly recommended.

We just stopped for a night because we were running behind schedule to get to Tauranga. Even though it was late they were accommodating and had a cabin available for us. Cabin was small but very comfy and cosy. Everything very clean. Hot spring bath in the morning was amazing and the free kayak hire after was the ideal way to start the day. Highly recommended!

I love Athenree Hot Springs, this is my favourite place to go and relax. Staff and owner is super helpful and friendly. The pools are clean hot and close to the units. The units are spacious and well looked after. Great stay for us as a family.

Great little site. One of those more old fashioned 'Kiwi' locations that it carries so well. Yes, facilities are slightly dated, or Retro Chic, depending on your view, but everything is there, is spotlessly clean and well looked after. Reception was super friendly, escorting us to our site and pointing out facilities on the way. Staff there seem genuinely friendly and very keen to ensure guests have a great stay. Not a super flash establishment looking to take leisure time into the 21st Century but more a gentle reminder of relaxing in times gone past and wonderful for it. Highly recommended, we'll certainly be back.

Jan and I stayed in one of the two person cabins for 2 nights. The cabin was just what we had expected and more. Although compact we found the cabin was well equipped with everything we needed for the 2 days. The nearby kitchen/dinning room was also well equipped. That, plus the shower block was near by and immaculately clean. The site is perfectly located for walks and trips out. The staff were helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Of course the hot pools were fabulous. Highly recommended for couples and families alike.

I had a lovely two night stay at Athenree. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make sure I had a suitable camper site as the ground was very wet. The hot pools were fantastic, so clean and the kitchen was also very clean and nice.

Very high standards throughout. A lovely place to stay, great staff.

We booked a two bedroom cabin and a two bedroom motel. The two bedroom cabin had two singles and a king/super king. The bedroom was separated by a divider so if you want privacy I would opt for a two bedroom motel instead. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils. Two bedroom motel had two single beds in a small bedroom. A king in the larger room. The pools open at 8:30 and close at 7:30 and are emptieds, cleaned, and refilled overnight. It was a very relaxing weekend and the pools made it even better. The staff were so lovely and polite. If the weather had been better I would have enjoyed it more but overall I would return.

Our first stay at Athenree Hot Springs and Holiday Park. We loved it. Clean, bright. Nice walks along the estuary. Lovely early morning soak in the pools. Thoroughly recommend it, and we will certainly be returning.

Cabin was absolutely spotless, as was the entire property, staff were super friendly and helpful, will definitely be back again.

Came to the hot pools for a bit with my mum! It was lovely and relaxing especially during the winter cold! There are 2 pools, the larger pool is warm but not too hot, a good temperature for kids and then there is the adults only pool which is lovely and hot and great for relaxing in. The pools are clean,they are drained and cleaned every night and the changing rooms were also clean. Overall would recommend if you need some chillaxing time and some self care!

What a lovely place to stay. So pleased that you have trialled having dogs there, and are continuing. Over my 48 hours there I was in the hot pools 4 times. Kitchen lovely and clean. And great walk with the dogs around the estuary. I'll be back!

This is a very well cared for campground where you feel welcome and comfortable straight away. I love the murals, the mosaics at the hot pool and the quirky artwork near the entrance. No need to say it's spotlessly clean which makes it a very enjoyable stay. Thank you for being fantastic hosts

Another short stay here, in this lovely spot, this time in a deluxe cabin. It was as new and spotless, with crisp sheets and warm duvet. A most . comfortable bed, table and chairs, heater for the winter nights, WiFi, TV, crockery, utensils etc, and a small fridge with icebox. It's not a spacious cabin, but it's all you need. Just a short walk to the ablution block and kitchen. Two of the many wonderful things about this place are the free access to the hot pools and the opportunity to chat with folks from far and wide. Highly recommended for a mid winter stay mid week when it's not quite as busy.

We had a group gathering at Athenree Hot Springs and Holiday Park. It was the ideal venue with space for us all to gather and the hot pools were just lovely. The grounds are clean and very well kept. Would recommend this as a motorhome or camping destination. The Hosts are very friendly and accommodating

Amazing! Clean and tidy and for a campground that says a lot! We’ll be back for sure.

We stayed in one of the chalets and they were right beside the hot pool so we could just wear togs and towels and walk to the pool even in the winter season. I thought the big pool was a bit cold for me and the weather but was still tolerable. The smaller pool was much warmer but no children under 12 were allowed so I had to stay in the big one with my toddlers. They change the water everyday so the water was so clean at 8.3am when it opened only to the people staying at the holiday park. The staff were very accommodating. They were very considerate and I didn't find them rude at all like what the previous reviews said. If you drive out ten minutes or so, you can shop at New world (Waihi) or Countdown (Katikati) but we found quite a few takeaways were closed even during the peak hours and wondered whether if it was result of the lock downs we had... I'd love to go back especially when the weather's bit better as we couldn't play at the beach in opposite to the holiday park due to heavy raining...

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. The staff were friendly and helpful - nothing was too difficult and they went out of their way to help meet our needs. The camp was well maintained with excellent amenities and extra touches making it an awesome place to stay. Being busy even in mid winter shows people love staying here and continue to come back year after year. Thanks for a great stay. We'll be back!

What a fabulous holiday site, so clean, quiet and great location. Caters for everyone with cabins and powered and tent sites. Good place to base from to do so much. Camp manager was super friendly and welcoming.

Great little campsite, clean, well provisioned. Helpful staff, keen to accommodate new arrivals even when site a bit waterlogged. The hot pool is immaculate and clean. Kitchen area well maintained with excellent facilities.

Great stay at a friendly camp. Peaceful location with nice walk around the estuary. Being dog friendly attracted us here. Thought at first there was only one shower in the facilities but found the others around the corner. Will visit again.

Had a powered site on water. Love this park, awesome staff and everything so clean and tidy. Pools are the icing on the too. Being dog friendly is perfect for us and we really appreciate being able to stay in your camp with our Great Dane. Highly recommend

always enjoy going to our onsite caravan at the camp. ..always made to feel welcome by the management and staff..the facilities are always well presented and maintained and we have always been impressed by this from our very first day....the pools are always a nice treat and very relaxing...when we stay there it is always very hard to have to leave and go home ...a well presented and run camp with a great family atmosphere

Very helpful proprietors. Great hot pools for a winter stay. Need some hard stands to cope with wet conditions but help at hand. I enjoyed the stay with Motorhome Babes.

A wonderful team of people operate this campground and they are very customer focused. Tucked away at the northern end of Tauranga harbour, this place is a bit of a gem and is well worth checking out. I really enjoyed my stay here and will certainly be back when I am next in the area.

Service was the stand out thing here. Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating which isn't always the case on a camp site. The pool facility was also great. All round a really good stay and somewhere we'd definitely go back to

A group of us have visited in our motorhomes every year for the past 14 years. We are always made very welcome by the customer friendly staff, and have found the facilities in excellent condition, in fact I have recommended to other "not so friendly" camp operators to visit Athenree and see how a camp should be run. I highly recommend Athenree Hot Springs & Holiday Park.

A wonderful holiday park to base yourself for a relaxing holiday. From easy book in to quick check out the process was sooo very easy. Friendly, informative staff, free wi-fi and entry to the hot pools was a bonus. This may be an older camping ground but it sure had immaculate amenities and they were a pleasure to use. Great work Team Athenree Hot Springs & Holiday Park...you all need a pat on the back and a morning tea shout from the boss :)

This would have to rate as the one of NZ's best holiday parks. Friendly efficient staff, the facilities excellent and exceptionally clean. The park and pool area well run set in lovely surroundings. Thoroughly recommend this park.

We had a great time!! We booked 2 camp sites for 2 families. 10 people in total and had 4 tents set up with still plenty of spaceto park and set up tables and chairs etc. The facilities available were always clean. Kids had a blast riding on all the bikes, scooters, buggies and in the games room and especially the pools! We had so much fun that we added on an extra night! The staff are absolutely lovely!!! We would have loved to stay longer. Bummer we have to go back to work! Thanks team for having us! Definitely had so much fun! Until next time 😁

The site and facilities is/are clean, the grass cut und and well maintained. The owner was nice and friendly, the price was normal. There are two hot pools, a really HOT pool and a bigger one for swimming. The pool area was clean und neat, the showers were free. We used the pool in the evening and morning when only onsite campers were around and enjoyed them very much. I liked the place and recommend it.

What a great spot hidden away at the top of the harbour. Quiet with good facilities. Bit shady but ya can't always get the sun in winter%!! Hot pools and wifi bonus...recommend. cheers.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were warmly welcomed.The campground is in such good condition. The bathrooms are lovely and tidy. It's a nice touch having the radio playing in the bathrooms too. Likewise the kitchen is in a very tidy condition. The pools are so relaxing. I love the gorgeous mosaic art along the sides. Thanks for a wonderful stay- we will definitely be coming back!

Initimate but not overcrowded, always clean and relaxing. Beautiful artwork to look at while u relax, and hot showers to rinse off afterwards!

Pros: The staff were amazing, helpful and friendly, and the facilities were super clean. It was a beautiful and popular location. Cons: The campsites in the centre loop were super tiny, we couldn't even pitch our standard family Kathmandu 360 tent within the site boundaries and there was barely 50cm between tent sides either side all the way along the congested camp road, ours was the smallest. We had booked for a family of five. When we arrived there was no space for our car or trailer to park near our tent but others had parked hard up against our site and would run their stationary ute exhaust pipe for 15mins prior to use, polluting straight into our campsite, and they played their music all day using our power point. It was seriously overcrowded during the new year period, not for the claustrophobic. Overall an unpleasant week not to be repeated, apart from the great staff... I would recommend it during the off season especially if you were lucky to get a waterfront site. However at the time we were not able to chose our site, nor were we informed ahead of time of where we would be put. Learn from our mistake and ask what size site you are being given before you pay your money.

Great spot to visit. We took our caravan and found access and location ideal. Staff were very friendly and helpful and all facilities were spotlessly clean. The pools are also well maintained and clean. Rates are manageable. We will be back.

First time to Athenree. This campground is absolutely wonderful VERY well kept . Owners are NEW and are Fantastic .Facilities are very clean . Quiet campground in idyllic setting . Hot pools unfortunately close at 7.30 pm. Highly recommend !!

Well cared-for laidback camp, lovely.

Its a sweet little hot pool. Basic facilities but clean. They empty the pool every day of water, we went quite late, about an hour before closing and there was lots of hair and sunscreen floating on the surface. Go early!!

We spent two nights in our caravan on a powered site .Everyone has said how awesome this place is and it’s true . Great location , the hot pools are sooo good and the staff and owners are very friendly and helpful .There is even a food caravan outside the gates , their hot chips are mouthwatering, we definitely recommend this camp

Awesome campground facilities exceed expectations in every way possible. Staff are really nice and friendly and very helpful. Bogs are lovely and clean and never seen such clean hand basins. Already planning a return trip with the mother in law , it's such a large campground I'm sure the helpful staff will find a plot for her on the opposite side of the campground from me.

Loved the place so much and will be back!! Campground and facilities are beautifully presented and very clean and tidy. Very family friendly atmosphere with kids free to ride around on their bicycles. Lovely little beach across the road with a park and kids have fun playing in the warm shallow water when tide is in or in the mud when tide is out. The warm thermal pool is also a great bonus. I've worked in a campground so I know how much effort goes into keeping a place this well maintained. Old fasioned simplicity but hospital grade cleanliness, and a beautifully designed pool and spa area. Well done guys.

Hotel California has nothing on this place it was so awesome we couldn't leave ... literally 🤭🤔😇👌🤣🤣 we had a malfunction with our door handle and couldn't leave the cabin but the staff we super professional and extremely helpful 👏 👍 we couldn't fault the place extremely tidy and clean super comfy beds and the owners of the place are the nicest people you will ever meet! And the thermal pools were exceptional 👌 in a beautiful setting with nice art it made the stress of auckland melt away 😍 WE WILL DEFINATELY BE BACK THANKS AGAIN GUYS

Amazing stay. Friendly, passionate staff which ensure the rules are followed, they were present, very welcoming and continuously cleaning. Facilities were spotless. They change the shower curtains everyday! The showers were hot and had high pressure. Totally recommend for a family holiday.

Lovely little place to stay, good prices plus spring water heated pools which are amazing to swim in, has toddler section. Staff are nice and informative. There's also a lovely park across the street right bed a section of beach that the kids just have to explore. Great summer get away.

Our stay was very enjoyable. In all our years of using holiday parks, this was the first time we were escorted to our site, with a guided instruction of where the facilities were along the way. The facilities were very clean and tidy, as were the hot pools. I definitely recommend this camp.

Attended a Rally at Athenree with our Lilliput Caravan Club and our hosts where simply amazing. They made us feel very welcome and went out of their way to make our stay truly wonderful.

We stayed iin this lovely clean, friendly holiday park for 2 nights. Gary and Sue are excellent hosts, friendly and welcoming. The whole complex is beautifully kept by them and the hot pools are the icing on an already tasty cake 😊

We had a wonderful stay at Athenree Hot Springs & holiday park - the room was well catered for and staff very accomodating.

This is a little bit of paradise. It has it own hot spring pool. The kitchen is spotless. As is the showers and toilets. Great people running will go out of their way to see you right. Close to a great surf beach and the Northern reaches of the Tauranga harbour.

First time here, staff was awesome, was shown to my site, told where the facilities were etc, and the hotpools are the best, included in the camping fee. Pools are cleaned nightly and in the morning there is a time campers can go privately, without the public. It is open to the public also. Reasonable cost too.

Most relaxing afternoon with grandkids ever! Spa pool which is adults only is stunning; not too hot amazing for an autumn/winter warm up. Big pool isn't too big; although small area for little people could be enlarged. AND the prices are excellent. Well done.

These are an amazing little surprise in Athenree, the springs come from deep in the ground and are so lovely sit in a relax. There is a big pool for the children with a toddler ledge and a very big spa pool for only the adults. The artworks on the fence surrounding the pool are amazing and accurately reflects how Athenree looks. Well worth checking out. There are showers and changing rooms for pool users.

Have never stayed at the Holiday Park but we frequently go to the Hot springs and love this spot! They have a kid friendly main pool and an adults hot pool. The beautiful surroundings and very clean facilities make this an incredibly relaxing spot to spend a few hours.

we enjoyed a lovely couple of days at the campground in our motor home, the sites are not big but the amenities are clean & the hosts are very helpful. We have stayed once before & would recommend this campground to families as it has the hot springs & it close to the water for paddle boarding& kayaking. Waihi beach is 10mins away! !

Have stayed here for extended periods a number of times over the years. Great hot pool and quiet surrounds. No shops in Athenree, FYI.

We a absolutely loved staying at the campsite. The owner was super nice and helpful when we arrived. They have a beautiful warm pool and a very dark sky at night, which is excellent for star gazing.

Very unpleasant lady in the office. I had a couple of questions to ask her and she spoke to me as if I was an idiot. When I walked out of the office, I overheard her mimicking me and putting me down. I dealt very unwelcome and cut my stay short. I will never go there again. Attention sue further to my review I would like to comment that sue the manager has just rang me and is very sorry that I had an unpleasant experience with one of her staff and has offered to put things right with me. Sue comes across as a very nice person and I have decided to give athenree holiday park another chance, as it's very clean and comfortable and the pools an added bonus. Just wish l talked to sue first.
