Love this place. I haven't tried food here yet. But have many drinks. Live band's are great. All the old pub songs/ rock music ♥️..I recommend you pay it a visit.

First time customer! The Sunday roast with a pint for $25 is great value. The meal was fantastic and large, but sadly only 1 roast potato! Suggest less mash and more roasties. Service was first class.

Food was super tasty, filling and relatively inexpensive considering it's located on the waterfront. Bartender is funny and welcoming and the drinks are reasonably priced. Theres a carpark close by but it's quite expensive during the week. Indoor and outdoor seating which is nice. I recommend the buffalo wings 👍

Another lunch review here. Slow atmosphere due to public holiday. Great service and great food specials. Had the Fish n Chips as well as the chicken salad. Both were very tasty. Specials were a slightly smaller portion, but with sharing between two made it very doable. Had a chocolate, vanilla and strawberry sundae to top it off. Had a great portion and it tasted great.

It's very near to the Auckland sky tower, probably like 10mins walking distance. Easy to find. However you need a proper attire to enter and you need to pay a cover charge for it. The beer, hmm.... I will say the taste is a bit off The band is good though. Good band. Very crowded inside. But if you like live band and you mind with crowded area this is the place to go

If you are downtown Aukland and need a cold beer and some great live music, then this is the place. Beer is fairly priced for the quality and the bar staff was friendly. The bar is somewhat small and gets packed. Standing room only. If you have issues with extremely loud music bring some ear plugs.

Nice place to be.. moderate crowd. I went there on a Friday evening and they had $18 jug beer..that was good. They also have one chicken wing for 25 cents. So it can quite economical. The staff is helpful and courteous. They play some nice 80's and 90's songs. Clean bathrooms.

Always have a good night here that's for sure but today me and my mate came to have a Sunday roast. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't expecting much, but it was pretty damn good! And I'm English so I know my roasts 😉. It was all cooked to perfection and there was a mountain of it, we certainly couldn't finish all ours. 100% be back though 😁

The band tonight was pretty average, playing songs they didn't know and mumbling the songs while reading the lyrics off a phone, heard from other people that they have performed before and are usually better. The bar staff were absolutely amazing however, especially Andrew ( I believe that was his name or similar)

Danny Doolan's is an amazing gem, it's a tad tucked away and if you not looking for it you will miss it. However this is not the Irish pub to over look at all. Thee food is amazing and we'll priced and the staff are friendly. Go and give them a visit, really great place and vibe.

I have been here multiple times for a great night out but came here today for Sunday roast with my partner and it was AMAZING! Always enjoyed this place in the Viaduct. For the younger population but when I visit it is with my daughter so we have a laugh, a drink and perhaps a chat with those who are there for a social night out. Dont recommend hook ups but the.venue is open till the wee hours and best you be with someone and an exit.plan for home.

I was one of the six who dined there last night (reservation was under Barbera) and we ended up staying til the wee hours of the morning. Food was wonderful and the two bands were great but it was the VIP service that we had received from the staff (especially the amazing gentleman who looked after our table!!) that has prompted the 5 star rating. We had a really nice night last night at Danny Doolans, until we witnessed one of the bouncers rather agressively march a customer out of pub for wearing a cap, this young guy had been quietly having a drink with girlfriend at the table next to us and was not causing any problems. Totally unnecessary and not nice to witness, and I cannot see any mention of no caps in the dress code

Visited this place a few times while travelling in Auckland. The first night was just funny watching backpackers try score free drinks and dance on an uneven floor. It probably wasnt worth the cover charge though. The next night there was a live band and this was much more enjoyable. Everyone was out for a good time

Absolutely love this place. The live music really makes you groove. The place is lively and always gets my mood up. Hands on one of my favorite places in Auckland. They do charge a fee after 10pm on weekends, so I suggest you enter before 10pm and stay till about 2am :)

This is a cool place to have a beer or two with your buddies. They have good food and large portions (large enough for me anyway). The beer options are good as well. They also had a live band when i visited. Not a place that will blow your mind but not too bad either.

The bar I visit the most late at night. Crowded, loud, good for a dance. Lots of bodies can make it hot, it's often very busy. Live band is good. Playlist is excellent. Always people dancing. Floor is uneven, leave the heels at home, you will fall. Watch for the steps if you're new, they're everywhere. Security is outstanding. They're friendly and helpful, will deal with handsy sleasebags and the people not leaving you alone, please point them out, it helps everyone. There's a little smoking/outside area. You get to skip the queue once you've got a stamp, so heading out the main entrance is fine if you need a breather too.

Great rock music band. However they cannot control the crowd and usually let too people far more than their capacity to get in. For the same reason they cannot control the door to the smoking area to be properly closed and the bar is filled with smoke. The age range of the audience varies from very young to middle age people.

What else can one day, this great pub is easily anchored on the viaduct! A must visit site, you'll find everyone from the lazing local, travelers and the corporate and blue collar all mingling in the same place. Depending on the day you go, the live band kicks on usually on the Friday into the weekend. Lots of energy and great people to chat to and share some stories. Go there alone, and it wont be long before you're partying at someone's table.

Danny's is a guaranteed good time on any night of the week. Live music, a cool venue and a well stocked bar; what more could you ask for? If you don't mind the odd drink spilt on you, abominable toilet facilities after 10pm and an uneven floor (don't wear heels unless you have strong ankles/experience in wearing them) then this is the place for you!

I have read the other reviews and I don't know what place they went to. The live bands each night were awesome, the door staff always courteous and the bar staff bloody awesome. A bar and restaurant that is centrally located in viaduct harbour area. During the day is a pretty relaxed place but Friday and Saturday night's it moves up a gear. There is usually live music and then after midnight it turns more into a nightclub with a dance floor. It is usually the last place I end up for the night out at around 2am in the morning.

For any American expats looking for a place to remind you of home, this would be it purely based on the music selection that all patrons seem to enjoy singing along to. Perhaps I shouldn't be judging solely based on two night visit when it's packed, but that's all I can rate with right now. It gets near impossible to move anywhere, whether it be to the one bar (all I've ever seen yet is one at least unless there's another room somewhere) or to the loo.

A pleasant enough pub with food and drinks in the center of town. The upside is that it's usually a good vibe and the music tends to promote dancing and partying the downside is that a couple of the bouncers are rude and unprofessional to their customers. It was surprising given that the rest of the staff are wonderful.
