Reviews of O'Hagan's Irish Pub
C.
Delicious food. Friendly atmosphere and excellent service. We'll be back!
My partner had Chicken schnitzel.
He said this was delicious. 😋🐔
I enjoyed my bacon mushroom pine nut fettuccine with added chicken. Yummy!!
J.
Good place for drinks and pub feed.
Had lamb shank, melted off the bone, was delicious, would've loved some additional sides like peas, carrots, corn or salad etc, but for pub food, couldnt fault what was served.
Staff are great also.
R.
Went here on Sat 9th April with my 2 friends. We received great service and food was yummy, I had a Halloumi salad, my friends got pasta and Guinness pie. We also got garlic bread that was cooked well. I loved the $13 cocktail deal for happy hour. Will be back 😁
H.
Can not fault the food its Absolutely lovely !!
Its mine and my partners favourite place in auckland for food and drinks
A.
Had a great night on Saturday at O'hagan's celebrating our mates 21st. So refreshing to see the staff (bouncers included) happy and smiley, in particular the manager Matty who absolutely made our night so special!
Amazing food, great drinks and the BEST service I have experienced in years!
Thank you so much guys! Will definitely be back.
M.
Amazing location at the harbor, sweet view of the sea to refresh our busy mind. Beer jug for $24 at the happy hour, cold and nice. Outside area with heaters on makes it feels like home. Good vibe and music. Mixed public, mostly professionals. Toilets clean and in decent condition. Worth the visit definitely.
J.
Apparently the Southern Fried Chicken is good. I ordered it but made the mistake of putting the number on a hungry table.
I'll order again next time and stick the number on my head 😬
K.
Absolutely amazing meal at O'Hagans today, third visit here. Had the lamb rump which was absolutely delicious...10/10 ! Lamb was the best I've EVER tasted, potatoes were so yumm and the gravy was a perfect balance of flavours. Staff are lovely and place is clean and tidy with a cool vibe.
My only criticism would be lack of variety in terms of cocktails/mocktails but plenty of beers/wines and non alcoholic drinks to choose from.
Will definitely be visiting again...soon hopefully!!! 😍
N.
Went here for "A drink" before tea and after a 1.7 litre jug of Emersons Pilsner, decided to have a bite to eat, plus another jug! We were not disappointed! We had the double cheese with bacon and aolie burgers. And man were they good! Jolly good tucker and the food bill came to under $50.00. The beers were $31.00 per jug, but you get 4 large glasses from one jug. All up, good value and a lovely time out in the viaduct.
E.
Food really hit the spot - so delicious. Great atmosphere and staff. 10/10 recommend.
A.
Good service, atmosphere, and food!!
N.
Good music. Has seats inside and outside + smoking area. Friendly staff and the food was nice although a bit pricey. suggest you try the buffalo wings + Guinness.
F.
I love this place. The view is beautiful, the beer and food are excellent, and it is always playing very good music.
The staff is always very friendly as well!
P.
Quite possibly the nicest lunch I have ever had! The seared tuna was cooked to perfection as part of an altogether delicious dish, there's a great drinks selection and the staff are wonderful.
I.
Great place for hangout with friends definitely back again someday
A.
I am located in the most vibrant area of Auckland and would love to try a Guinness beer. Due to the coronavirus panic, there are few tourists and tourists, but this exit is still very lively. Ordered a chicken burger and my drink. Do you regret that I still had a good night?
M.
This is a great venue. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. It follows all those wonderful rules of Irish hospitality. Oh...and great beer. We went on a Friday evening on a wet and cold evening in August. It was warm and welcoming inside. Will definitely go again and again. My friends and I are big fans...
S.
Irish pub on the Auckland waterfront.... weird but I can't say no to a Guinness!! So we stopped by for a quick drink. The prices were high.. the service was a bit slow... the atmosphere was a bit waterfront... but the lady who greeted us and told us all about what was available was so knowledgeable and kind.
A.
Recommend O'Hagan's pub on the viaduct for their fantastic Moroccan pan fried tuna. Everything about this dish was absolutely worth it. Well presented meal and absolutely delicious. Great pub and atmosphere and the staff were great to talk to and very helpful and friendly. Cheers for a great meal and memory!
W.
Great place if you're with a bit of a group. Lots of open space so doesn't seem too crowded.
B.
We stopped by for drinks and arrived just before they finished their dinner service. The place is quite large and there are a few areas which look quite cosy. The menu had a large selection of items both for food and drinks.
I thought it was a bit on the loud side as it was hard to hold a conversation, but it was getting to the live music time. The place was nice. It was a bit annoying that there were people smoking nearby in the front area but it didn't get overly smokey.
B.
A dark horse on the Wharf! I was dragged there by my Guinness loving Dad, expecting some greasy pub classics. Actually the menu was fresh, very well seasoned and just delicious! I had the Seared Tuna ($30) - yum! The pie and a pint deal ($22) also looked tasty and fresh.
G.
When you're looking for a St Paddy's Day event with some real Irish folk... And a lot more... Then it's the main place to be in the CBD haha. Come one, come all and have a pint. It may get extremely crowded especially during these big events but no matter when you come, the staff will still be open and welcoming to you.
J.
Loved this place. Awesome food, lovely staff, great view. Would definitely go again.
M.
Had pavlova dessert here.. it had 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream & tasted like farm bake choc chip biscuits broken around the plate. Cost $16. Bit pricey for a basic dessert.
S.
Lovely cocktails, tasty bar snacks, really good atmosphere. The Irish girl was very nice.
P.
Great pub. Visited today good beer wine friendly good service. Good prices food looked great.had a nice time. Recommend it.
A.
Started off with a friendly smile from our server, always makes me feel good. Quick service with a Guinness in smart time. Food prepared and served again with a the necessary care. Will most definitely come again, maybe even weekly.
A.
Live band when we went on a Saturday night! Drinks are reasonable price as well and we didn't have to wait in a long line to get in
H.
A perfect place for a weekend if you are with a group of fun loving friends. Music is decent with party vibes. Bouncers are great and friendly. Bar staff hospitality is great. Only down down point is its crowded during the weekends and a long wait to buy drinks regardless of numerous staff working behind the same. Otherwise, my suggestion is to be an early bird to get the most of this place!
D.
Our experience was amazing!! We love so much the restaurant is in a great location! Also the staff was so nice and friendly. Our meal came so quick and it was super delicious (I really enjoyed the steak). We Highly recommend it.
A.
Fun atmosphere, great live music. Reasonable prices.
E.
Enjoyed the Guinness pie and sitting outside was very nice atmosphere. Fast and friendly service.
S.
Very lovely atmosphere on a Sunday night, was first greeted by an American lady who was very rude and then stood with her co-workers who were off shift.. disappointing! Food and drinks were pleasing and was served by a lovely English woman named Elli, she made great conversation and got us all laughing, plus had a smile on her face all night! Definitely will be back for that kind of service 😁
A.
Great outdoors area overlooking the inner viaduct. Have spent many great afternoons there
C.
Friendly staff, great food and superb atmosphere.
N.
Food was sooo good.
Service was amazing by all!!!
Highly recommend 👌
J.
St Patrick's Day 2021 fell on the same day as the America's Cup, so the luck of the Irish saw NZ win it again! So upon arriving here that night around 9.30pm, I found the place saturated in an absolute state of euphoria. An amazing live band set the place ablaze with awesome renditions of favourites such as Alanis Morissette's, "What's going on?" There were literally hundreds of mostly young people dancing and singing, along with a few oldies like me joining in from the sidelines, enjoying seeing everyone looking so happy. The security detail was on point, with excellent crowd control and no incidents. Very impressive management of an awesome and memorable night for all including St Paddy.
H.
Great establishment with good food vibrant atmosphere.
Question: If there is no soap in the bathroom, how does the chef wash his hands after he’s been to toilet?
M.
Great food, great beer. One of the few pubs with Boddingtons on tap.
T.
Had lunch and drinks here on Sunday . Our waitress Ellie was so friendly and attentive, a lovely kind lady who is a asset to the company. Would definitely come back!
T.
Great food, the burgers were excellent, great establishment with touches of Irish decor. Great service and location. Well worth the visit and food
S.
Great place to hangout. Good beer, good food, ambience & vibe is superb.
S.
Sauntering along the Viaduct and decided to give this place a try. Very busy but managed to find a table for the three of us. Served by an Irish lass who was very friendly and knowledgeable. Served good pub food. Twice cooked Pork Belly with mash and gravy was great. The other two diners had beef burgers which went down a treat. Price was very reasonable. Would recommend.
N.
First time customer to this bar. Excellent friendly prompt table service. And serves a great pint of Guinness. Awesome place! Love it!
P.
Fairly average pub with average to poor service. Food is not cheap but the portions are large and it is tasty. Could not believe they hit me for a credit card fee on top of a bill of $450. Will not be rushing back.
M.
Coffee was served Vols seats uncomfortable good view.
J.
They have fone charger ports. . .
Lots of them.
Life Saver !
A.
I was looking for live band music at a pub as my usual Saturday night venue band was not on, they recommended O'Hagans, I encountered a visitor from Brazil on the way whom I had met previously, he came with me. We arrived and were greeted nicely by door security and given info about the bar and band hours. There was plenty of bar and security staff to cater for the crowd. The band restarted and were very good The floor dance floor was rocking! After an enjoyable night I departed and had a chat with Steve from security on the way out, a nice communicative guy doing a good job with his team.
Thanks for the night, I'll be back
V.
Was a nice experience, portions were great with good beer and the pub had a lot of Irish patina!!
D.
Where to start? The service was fantastic, the Pepper Steak pie my partner had was huge and delicious, I had the Pork fillet on truffle mash 😙 unbelievable. Great atmosphere in a popular busy pub, great outdoor seating with views of the water, if you're in Auckland and want a good feed give them a go you won't be disappointed. 😀😀
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A.
Great pub with a friendly lowkey vibe!
M.
This is the third time we end up here for NYE and we are never disappointed.
The place is huge, with plenty of space indoors and outdoors. Even during peak times, like on Dec 31st, the line at the bar is never too long and the drinks are decently priced.
On NYE there is an entry fee of $10 to go in, but they also offer live music so the low price makes sense or half of town would be storming there.
The only thing that could be improved is the length of the re-entry line. Security forces people with a stamp to queue along with those waiting to pay, and this means that you'll have to wait forever to go back in after the the fireworks or a phone call.
All in all, we always had fun here and we'll end up in there again.
F.
Decent range of beer on tap, inoffensive music and quiter atmosphere. Did not try the food.
N.
They even have real Irish people. I didn't enjoy my halloumi burger but I did like my cider. Everyone else I was with enjoyed their meals
M.
Came here after the Adam Lambert concert and the vibe was awesome. Started off with a live band then great music. Slightly disappointed it closed so early but definitely an awesome night.
S.
Really nice ambience here. Friendly service without being too casual, great range of tap beers, and background music is just that, provides atmosphere without drowning out conversation (hello HQ yes I am talking about you). Didnt really try food so no opinion
T.
The service was very good and prompt. It's very clean and the food is well presented and tastes great. Cooler day and the heaters make it nice and cosy. Good selection of beers and wines. The location is close to the ferry, CBD and in the heart of the viaduct area.
H.
Lovely place to hang out, great food and drinks. Views and people are amazing.
R.
First rate food and service. I don't get to Auckland very often, but this is my favorite place to have lunch. I've been a few times now and the quality of everything has been consistently above par.
Keep up the great work.
D.
Great location and a good choice of drinks
e.
I always have a good time at O'Hagan's :) staff are very friendly and helpful. I've had a few really massive nights here, the food is pretty good to. I mean it's a pub, so it's not to be confused with a restaurant. You just needs to know your getting pub food when you go there So it fits the bill.
J.
Easy going awesome fun in the most expansive (big) waterfront bar. Attentive staff. Definitely a go and chill place.
L.
Very busy during this season even on weekday evenings - food was bland and people shouting over at each other. Recommend outside seating for drinks but don't expect much from pub food.
M.
Friendly and good service by the staff
R.
If you are feeling like some typical irish fare at Aucklands premier wharf then O'Hagans is worth a visit. Beer selection is good, menu is sufficient, staff were great and kids were welcome - bonus! Bathrooms needed some love but all in all we we had a good time and will return.
P.
How awesome are the staff here. Getting another drink BEFORE I’m empty. Great service
W.
Great little place. We had a meeting there and they were kind enough to reduce the noise in our section. The food was amazing and the tap beer was nice and cold!
M.
OMG!!!!! Wanna great spot for New Years fireworks ....this is it!!!!!!! You can see the sky tower and the bridge from here, so double whammy!!! Great food and drinks very reasonable! Live music was Awesome guys!!!!❤
D.
Great pub for kids and the food is great and for a very reasonable price. They altered the menu for the kids. The staff were so kind and went the extra mile to make us comfortable. You must go but be warned its really busy at night but great atmosphere.
N.
Relatively good food quality for a relatively reasonable price with an atmosphere decent enough bar the hefty wafts of nicotine saturating the air directly over your food in the outdoor seating. But otherwise, not half bad!
K.
Always great food, very busy but wait times are never crazy long
B.
The beef pie and the pint was absolutely awesome ! Pick any beer on tap including Guinness and an awesome meat pie ( imagine an awesome flaky croissant on top of an amazing beef stew ). excellent value for a hearty meal at 22.95 and it was a decently large portion .. highly recommended .. cheapest meal in the harbor area ..
V.
Nice setting & atmosphere, right in the heart of the waterfront. Lots of taxis outside. Food was OK & alcohol well priced, tho they could use more ciders in their range.
K.
I had a pie and pint
Great pub lunch
Screens to see the sport
Good beer selection on tap
Very cool spot in the Viaduct
A.
Toasted sandwich filling was cold no check back
J.
Best Kilkenny in Auckland. Great friendly staff
B.
Our family is a dietary minefield for restanteurs with a range of needs including; coeliac - gluten free, dairy free, keto friendly so when we dine out it is a tightrope walk for the waiters and chefs. O'Hagans offered us a diverse menu of good old 'pub grub'. There was a good offering of gf and df foods as well as astute waiters who asked the right questions and served a great meal. Keto girl had the Cesar salad and gave it the thumbs up. Df/Gf girl had a wonderful burger. Coeliac man also enjoyed a burger and the pulled pork burger went down well with the Gf mother in law. The Pie and pint was well recieved by the non plussed sister in law as was the real chicken tenders and chips served to fussy child. The grand winner though was my 750gm rump steak and pint for $36.95nzd. It was a beautifully cooked piece of rump on chips, onion rings and peppercorn sauce - it was thoroughly delicious and worth every cent and included a $9pint of beer so excellent value. Overall - highly recommended and enjoyed by the whole family. I will be back for the steak! Great value and quality.
Y.
Enjoyed the steak and guiness pie and my my friend had the fish and chips. Sorry did not take photos as I was hungry. Lol
D.
Great place for a good ol drink.
Great pub meal to.
E.
Love O’Hagans.
Met my to be wife here in 2011 youngsters that we were back then.
Fair enough we’re divorced now but many happy memories here 😃
Still rock up to drink & dine to this day.
N.
Great place for work drinks. There's plenty of space for big groups and they got a good selection of beverages. Also $12 cocktails!
M.
Stopped for drinks and watched the buskers perform in the square next door, drinks were usual town prices, service was fast, good atmosphere, plenty of seating for groups, very enjoyable.
A.
Have never been here, but we always watch the New Year's fireworks at the Sky Tower standing outside this pub, because it gives you a great view of the tower. And there's a huge crowd of friends, families, couples, etc standing, singing, hugging and swaying to the guitarist playing at the pub until the New Year countdown starts. Its really exciting to be here for New years, join the crowd and count down!!
J.
Classic Irish pub along the Warf. It's set back a bit from the rest of the restaurants and bars as a stand alone building. They serve food and have a decent bar. There's a nice outdoor area to hangout in during the warmer months. Another nice plus for we out of towners... Free Wi-Fi.
Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz
M.
We had breakfast here and enjoyed our meal. Served by a lovely Irish lass in an Irish pub. Coffee was excellent. Great location and recommend.

R.
Really great place to go. Good atmosphere and cater for all ages. Do a nice meal, live music is usually great.
V.
Little gem of a pub sat on the Harbour Marina in Auckland. Lovely friendly vibe, some great tunes and the locals and bar staff were all very friendly. Worth a visit
r.
Good place, great atmosphere, lovely big covered outdoor area, would say its in keeping with most of the other places in viaduct in terms of price, probably alittle more expensive if anything.
B.
AWESOME vibe. Great music. Best place to celebrate St Patrick's day.
N.
Really great atmosphere, the live band that played when I was there was 👌👌 few beers on tap, good space for dancing but does get quite full
D.
Right in the Heart of the Viaduct. Great selection of beers and excellent food. Beautiful Guinness and the staff very friendly and helpful.
D.

A.
A good location to meet friends by Viaduct Basin while close to city. Good range of beers. Nice area outside with view of harbour. Food OK. Good vibe. Staff friendly and helpful.

Great Irish pub. All the normal beers on tap. Every Tuesday night during the lighter months there's a 5km run, low entry fee and a beer at the end as a recovery drink
t.
Cool bar with great bar staff and excellent live music, and there's always a good bunch of people in there having a good time.
C.
Great place for food and drinks. Had the mussels and the beef pie, both were very nice. Service can be a little bit slow sometimes.
C.
Had food once and it was good. Nice staff. Good for night out, except one night the band didn't know who the Wolfetones were. Paddys day was quality though.
J.
Irish pub in centre of town, need I say more? This one has super friendly and helpful staff. The chicken pie and pint lunch time special are great.
S.
Definitely out of my price range, lol, but the vibes were so good, enjoyed watching the footy, and music was awesome
M.
If you want pub food and beer along with outside seating and screens to watch the game this is for you
T.
Great little spot right off the water... not a far walk from just about anywhere. The food is wonderful, and the staff is friendly. And the drinks just keep it flowing
H.
Anybody that loves a hearty steak should try the Steak Challenge here. 750gms of steak and a cold beer here is the best way to start the weekend off. Good vibe!
H.
Real nice vibe, chilled out place, can get busy on the weekends so get in early enough to not have to queue to long for the bar!
S.
Nice location but service is a little slow. Prices are reasonable and the food is nice.
M.
Awesome location for after work beers. Hospitality can be improved
A.
Typical Irish bar (good) : good selection of drinks and substantial meals. They also have a 5k fun run every Tuesday at 6pm

K.
Good Irish bar with decent selection of beers and food selection. spot on for fri night out. Staff have always been great.
D.
Average 'Irish' pub with large-screen sports in good position at the harbour's side. Better food to be found just metres away at other establishments though.
A.
Blonde male bar tender was cute 😍, drinks were yummy 🥰, curly fries were bomb 😎. Not to crowded 💃🕺.
S.
Can get busy but it's a bit more down to earth compared to the surrounding options. The food is decent and the serving sizes are good
R.

Burgers arent that great based on their $20 price. Tried the banoffee and that was totally not worth it. Went in open minded and was a little dissappointing.
J.
Great venue with food to burn.
