Vegan options ✅ There are definitely vegan food options here, so you won't go hungry. As for the quality of those items... let's just say this spot is best to drink at!
D.
Egypt has the pyramids. France has the Eiffel Tower. The USA has the Statue of Liberty. And New Zealand has Shadows. Shadows is the quintessential students bar. It is a beautiful, sweaty bar where the jugs are $7 and the patrons are always down for a yarn. It is an institution and the best bar in Auckland, nay, the best bar in the world. Cannot recommend enough. A night in Shadows is guaranteed to be a banging time (even if you don't remember it the next day).

Used to love Shads but the quality really went down after the move. Staff was great at first location. Definitely don't believe the second location was a good choice, real downgrade. Security kept watching and glaring at my friend and I when having a drink or two with classmates because we were laughing and enjoying ourselves- maybe we looked drunk? Put us off and we left early. Used to have really well made cocktails and on-tap beer is still good.

Loved the place. Went here at night. Music gradually gets louder throughout the evening, inviting to dance. If that’s not your thing there’s also plenty of space to sit down and have drinks.
Beer prices are great for Auckland, we paid $12 for a jug. Staff was friendly and the place itself relatively clean (-for a bar).
Easy to reach from the city, worth a visit!

Great prices. Really loved the pool tables (however, they’re often out of service), keep in mind they only accept $2 coins which the staff were happy to exchange. Furniture is a bit run down and floors/tables sticky but that didn’t damper the mood. As expected from a student bar. Nothing more nothing less. Be advised there is a wicked wait to get in on Friday and Saturday nights.

Just your average student bar. Lots of drink choices provided you can put up with heaps of smelly teenagers. Food is pretty well priced but a bit slow - I paid $3 for a cheese and pineapple toastie which was very nice, but it took 40 minutes to arrive. There was an event going on in the other room which may have slowed things down. I have also ordered their fish and chips on another occasion, which once again was nice, but slow to arrive. Overall its pretty good, you get what you expect from a student bar.

Yea man. Shadows is shadows. If you don't know you've already missed the boat. It's just another dance club now. No soul. But maybe give it time.
B.
Nice place. The burgers are AWFUL. The fish bites are barely edible. But you can't complain when a jack & coke is $5, a selection of cocktails is only slightly more, and litre jug of the house beer is $8!
D.
Really cosy and an overall nice hangout spot during the day and night. The drinks are really good and have great prices
H.
Slow student bar by day, pumping student club by night. Great place for the student crowd, stop on the way to town, or a chill afternoon catch-up. Suffers from being an older building, but doesn't take away from the great atmosphere.
B.
A smashing good time for the lads! The lovely bouncers give you an aggressive snuggle when you drink too much; found myself nose to the ground, outside the bar. Will be attending again!
S.
Great beer price and nibbles are pretty choice. Although the two pool tables are definitly overdue for a refurb.
H.
Student bar. Great atmosphere, maybe give it a miss if you're a bit on the older side as it's all students. $8 jugs? Cant go wrong
R.
Ordered fries, some of them are actually soggy, while the others are dry crusty. Not enough salt or sauce. Oil smells like it is older than me. Cheap alcohol and occasionally good music. Overall student bar appearance and experience. Will go back.
T.
One of the cheapest bars in the city situated in the University of Auckland Campus, perfect if you're a student with pool and various events on. Could do with a bit of a refit but I guess how that's how they stay so cheap
R.
Decent pricing. Cheep lunch, can get jugs of beer here shadows in-house beer for $8 for a jug. Good price for alright beer.
I.
A staple of the UoA student experience, Shadows, or Shadz as it is also known, is mildly historic in providing a range of affordable alcoholic beverages, with the iconic Shadows lager which is as light in taste as the cost per jug is low.
R.
Decent uni Bar. HORRIBLE TASTE IN MUSIC. but fair prices on drinks. recommend the butter beer. Taste amazing
a.
If you are looking to get pissed on the cheap and not have to deal with flash/expensive bars, here's a great place for you. Also a good spot for predrinks or just to be around the uni crowd
a.
Cheap, tasty and shads jugs. What else could a student ask for?
C.
I really don't feel I need to review this place, perfect student bar. If you don't get a jug of shadows lager while you're there, you're doing it wrong.
R.
Amazing service. Best muffins I've had in my life
B.

4) all of the high school musical repertoire
5) body rolls (watch out for my)
6) every song from every adele album
7) every song from every U2 album
8) every song from every Beatles album
9) GARDEN KNOMES
10) salty ham and nuggets
11) bob is leaking liquid in Estonia
