We went to The Malt for Lunch & a drink. in a quiet comfortable mid day environment. There is the option of inside or shaded outside tables to sit at. The food menu is varied enough to provide something to suit all palates & reasonably priced We had The Malt Platter which had a good variety & comfortably fed the 3 of us. Worth a visit to Greenhithe to checkout.

I'll say first that we couldn't stay unfortunately and had to takeaway to bring home the food. We ordered on the phone and the staff were great at getting it ready by the time we came to pick it up. The food was really good! Would recommend the pork ribs, they are delicious and the portion is very big. Hopefully will be able to come back and try more of the menu.

Dining for one? Fantastic place and atmosphere. It's a random Tuesday and feel like a treat? Chiefs special was bacon wrapped steak topped with a king prawn. Hands down the most amaizing take on surf and turf ever. Everything was cooked to perfection and the little side bits that can make or break a fine dinning meal were on point!! I even nearly missed that their was a mushroom sauce untill the end because it was so subtle and not just trying to drown the steak. Flavorful veg picked to elevate the meal well and again cooked just right. Snow peas that were very crunchy as they should be to firm potatoes and slightly softer beets. The staff were fantastic and as I was alone showed they were professionals in accommodating all weirdos. Overall compliments all around.

OK as a local. The online booking system is a little confusing as it is only for the eating area not the bar area so probably need to phone them to book in the bar. Prices are moderate to high - could be better.

Very long wait for drinks and food when we booked a table. If they had served us more promptly we would have drunk more as we had our own sober driver. Food still fantastic but our other table guests were put off the take out meals being cooked quicker than ours & the agro swearing from another Patron at the top of his voice. Guess they were short staffed Saturday night. Will try another night.

Setting was good. I ordered the 500g ribs as per the menu and only got half that. The waiter took it back and said that the chef said that was 500g. Service was tardy as we had to ask for menus repeatedly.

Alrighty, I do not normally leave reviews on places but last night was a special one. Decided to go for a cheeky sunday night sangria down at The Malt with my best friend to catch up on life a bit... Josh and Emily read the room perfectly and delivered us beautiful service. They were super attentive and helpful. Played us a super appropriate playlist for what we were going through and had a strong impact on our night. We will be back and I hope they get the recognition they deserve for their exceptional service. They made our night! (Josh, you better be working on those dance moves! We will be back to see your progression)

Dropped in with no reservation after attending Greenhigth market across road .Place was packed but an excellent friendly courteous waitress found us a table immediately.Less than 15 minute wait between ordering and entrees arriving.Size of entree such we nearly could have done without main.Mains arrived beautiful presentation .Chicken with couscous and egg plant . Plus a Margherita pizza .Food is amazing great value for money .The wait staff are exceptional and great to see people who obviously enjoy what they are doing .awesome atmosphere well worth a vist

We held a family event here recently. The staff were great with meeting our requests, they were friendly and even waited around when we took a bit later after closing. The food was nice, atmosphere was great! Not too loud. Will definitely be back - thanks heaps to Tori for being so accommodating on the night too. We had a great time :)

First time experience and the food was really good. Eye fillet steak, sea food platter, chicken burger and cheese and bacon bread was all really yum. The reason for the 4 star review is only because the waitress did not check on us once after giving food but wasn’t a major

Great food so if you're going for that, then you're in. I went for the quiz night, it was ok, very small number of teams which is not necessarily a bad thing, but the sounds were terrible and the questions were dragged out a lot. We were a table of 4 and given a leaner and stools as a table. Some are fine with that but personally I find them very uncomfortable especially as we were dining. When you book make sure you ask for a table if you prefer one. The staff were friendly though which was nice but they don't do table service at least not for the quizzing tables. Overall not bad but a few tweaks and it would be great!

Service was friendly and prompt and couldn't fault! Would be cool to see dairy free options made really clear and would love to see vegan cheese available on your pizzas - would happily pay a $2-3 upcharge for it. Thanks again for a great night.

We hadn't been here since they had changed hands from being the Malt House. It is really tidy and clean, and the food is really good. The antipasto platter is very yummy. I had the smoked chicken pasta with bacon, which was superb. The pizzas looked good too.

Food was great, but service was very slow. Understandable when it was busy but after it was quiet is no excuse. Waitress also had no idea what the specials were and had to keep going to check--this is something that should be known from the start of a shift.

Took my football team here after a game down the road for some drinks. Food (fries and wedges) wasn't served in the order it was ordered but was good nonetheless. Been here a couple times before for dinner and pizzas are also quite good. Service was okay each time. Worth going back, I've been twice now with considerable time between visits and I was not disappointed. I remembered the first time the dinner was great and this time was no different, fantastic food. Great atmosphere and surroundings. Only one drawback, I had to explain what is in a martini. Reasonably priced for pub food which is usually a little expensive $15-30 but quality is great and enough quantity to fill your stomach... plus they do wood fire pizza so definitely a 5/5 for me.

It took almost an hour for my order to turn up. I was one of 12 or so in for lunch to farewell a workmate. Our meals came out over a period of 30 minutes or so, so some of us had finished eating by the time the last food turned up. I ordered the Tandoori Chicken pizza (don't judge me!) on a bit of a nostalgic whim. While it didn't quite meet my subjective memory expectations, it was still pretty tasty. Would I go back there? Probably, but maybe in a smaller group, and a bit longer after they open so the kitchen and pizza oven are all up to heat/speed. Not that I'm any kind of service industry expert.

Couple of beers and a meal with a few mates. Nice atmosphere - good local pub feel sitting at one of the bar leaners without being too "hi-vis". Meals were really good, service was great, I can see why we keep coming back after so many years.

Local pub - good food and acceptable selection of beers supplied by Lion including Panhead and Emersons. They got plenty of screens for sports and a kids playroom to keep the young ones occupied. The courtyard is nice in summer.

Obviously a very popular watering hole in the area! Went for dinner and sat indoors as it was a bit chilly. Service was great especially as we had special dietary needs (GF, V, DF). Food was good. Staff friendly and very helpful. Would have preferred to sit on the deck as it was very noisy - busy Friday evening. But all in all good time had!

We went for our wedding anniversary with our friends, the food & service was more than excellent. Unfortunately there were parents that let kids run around the restaurant with food & the noise was unacceptable, the restaurant staff seemed unconcerned. Will not be returning unless they review their policy on children's behavior.

Love the Malt. It's just a really great Kiwi pub. Simple but tasty pub food ( the pizzas are great). Good selection of booze. Kid friendly ( it's now got a little playroom with a sofa toys and TV). Lots of different specials on different days, and the best bunch of locals to be found anywhere in New Zealand.

Saw the Emerson's sign, thought I was guaranteed some great craft options. Turns out the locals don't really go for anything adventurous so they've paired it back to a 'safe' selection. At least put a Lakeman Badonkadonk in the fridge. Sell it for $26 a bottle. Good steak and veg.

Dog likes visiting, he finds the free handouts a special treat. His owner likes the Monteiths Distinction on tap, a pity they don't have some craft beers on tap. Food reasonable, wood fired pizza a speciality. Tuesday 2 for one meals are the best deal although No bookings so come early or expect to have a few aperitifs while waiting.

Nineteen Members of Glenfield Probus descended on The Malt for Sunday lunch today (21.2.16) and were delighted with the tastefully renovated look of this restaurant, which is under new management. We opted to have our lunch in the sunny garden under shade and were not disappointed with the food ordered - it was smashing. Well cooked, well presented, really good sized portions & offering things that I have not seen on other menus - all delivered efficiently, with a smile. We will definitely be going back.
