Love the wine flight experience, so much fun. Then the food was absolutely divine, highly recommend this place. Looking forward to going back when we can sit in the courtyard.

Food was delicious!! We both agreed this was the tastiest meal we had had in a long time. So flavoursome!! We also loved the experience of the wine flights. Was the perfect choice for a lovely date night :)

Great food and service, lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend a wine flight with a cheeseboard and some of their light meals. I have never tried anything on the menu that wasn't absolutely delicious. Perfectly placed near the Lumiere Cinema so perfect for pre-movie drinks and nibbles. Will definitely be back.

Amazing! Excellent service, great food, loved the cheese platter and the range of cheeses and the wine flights are the best thing I've seen .. love it!

Wine flight options were great and I really enjoyed my wine tastings. Service so good too. Apart from our food plates being left on the table for a considerable time. And unfortunately 3 out of 5 out of us didn’t enjoy our meals. The food really let everything down. But the desserts were fab. All in all a good night. But don’t have the risotto!! Do have the wine and the crème brûlée!

Been meaning to get to Cellar Door for a long time so anniversary was the perfect excuse. The service and food were absolutely first class - our only mistake was thinking we could do the house made breads AND a main each. We both walked away very full but massively satisfied. The food menu isn't extensive which is a nice change from far to many options. there was easily something for all tastes. Wine offering is, in my opinion, the best in Christchurch! However a broad and choice range of spirits and craft beers also available. Definitely be returning! Thank you Cellar Door

Very good food with lovely wine selection. They had very friendly staff who were knowledgeable about their menu and drinks list. They were able to cater to specific orders for food even during covid and were very professional. Would come again

Lovely place to relax, share some wine, have some food. Great decor and ambiance, absolutely stunning location. In the old arts school which is worth a visit just in itself. The staff are simply great and knowledgeable. The food is fresh well prepared and they are happy to cater to those on special diets like myself. I eat a keto diet. The owner we met was lovely and friendly. I would happily go again and again. We started with a couple of wine flights. Landed on a bottle of German mosel. Had the beef carpaccio and the steak pictured. All was well prepared and very flavoursome.

Had a great meal, stunning flavours and mix of tastes. Staff were amazing and very helpful with wines that suited both the meal and our tastes. Friendly atmosphere and beautiful setting.

Have been twice now for the wine flights. These are awesome wine tasting experiences with so many flight options to choose from! Each flight comes with 4 tasting options on a sheet explaining each tasting beautifully. Really enjoy going with friends or family and discussing the flavours over some yummy cheese and crackers.

Stunning Meal and pleasant atmosphere. We dined on Grizzly sourdough with Nelson Olive oil to start and then were impressed with a delicious Roast Lamb Sirloin featuring peas beetroot, cauliflower cream & a heavenly jus. We thoroughly enjoyed this with a flight of red each, interesting wines featured and compliments to chefs, wine selectors, waitstaff and owners for getting this place so right!

My partner and I had a fantastic evening here yesterday. We enjoyed two different wine tastings (called flights), each with four glasses with 40ml. There are plenty of tastings to choose from, ranging from cultivating areas to grape varieties. The prices are reasonable between $15 to $20. After the tasting we bought our favorite wine "Greystone" for the retail price. The dishes served are of great quality and really yummy, also for vegan folks😉 The staff is super friendly and attentive, we can't wait to return✌️

This place is fantastic - the wine flights are a great way to experience wines you'd never usually find, and the food is delicious. Service is professional and friendly - these folk know how to do hospitality - and they do it well!

I'm French and was missing French cuisine and products since Saint Germain closed a few years ago. The Cellar Door has truly become my new happy place and I love meeting there with family and friends around delicious food and wine :) The Art Center location is so beautiful too, and the whole team is lovely. The menu is creative and changes often. Good choice also for vegetarians. And people who prefer drinking organic wine. I could not recommend this place enough! PS : Thanks to the Cellar Door and their "wine flights", I have discovered so many wonderful NZ wines, and it even inspired us to go and have "wine trips" in the wineries themselves!

Lovely quaint wine bar in the Arts Center. Big fan of your wine bottle chandeliers. Did two flights of wine and was left alone the whole time. Relaxed peaceful place. To all the reviewers who are commenting on being told to be quiet, this is very much a sit down, dim lit, soft jazz date night place.

Cellar door was brilliant the wine tastings called wine flights are a great way to try a lot of different wines from the region and the country. The customisable cheese boards are a nice way to start and the starters and mains are on par with all the other top restaurants in town. Makes for a brilliant experience and evening out.

Probably one of the best wine bars in Christchurch with a great selection of local and international wines to pick from. Specializing in flights of particular flavors and also geographical locations. The menu is specific to just enjoying good quality wines and relaxing a great bar in one of the finest buildings in Christchurch. A must visit for any wine lover in Christchurch!!!!

Large choice of NZ and international wines and beers, customised tasting flights possible, wine by the glass, by the bottle... + quality food is also served, cold or warm, large or small, freshly prepared by the cook. Very friendly and competent service too, with good advices and recommendations!

We absolutely love this place. The setting, attention to detail, food and wine selection and great staff makes it one of our favorite Christchurch venues.

Wonderful innovative food, ambient surroundings and helpful staff. I had mouth watering venison and 3 of us shared a delicious freshly made apple tarte tatin. My friends I was with are regular diners there. I have visited several times and will return.

We had lovely meal, service was excellent, overall it was a very pleasant experience. Only one negative, we would have preferred a lower table (rather than the high one).

Always a great experience whether for a drink and a snack or the full nine yards. I always order the market fish, and it is always excellent. The tarte tatin is also difficult to go past!

The beer was crisp, the wine was definitely good, and the duck liver pate was tasty and ample. But....we were moved from table to table for a fictional reservation, then denied service because there were 5 of us at a table supposedly only approved for 4! We offered to stand closer together...the manager said we were standing in the fire egress lane....the place was less than half full, but they couldn't devise a way for 5 people to stand and drink. Suffice to say we paid and departed and enjoyed drinks and dinner down the road at Fiddlesticks, where they want customers to have fun.

Incredible!! From the awesome concept of themed wine flights, through to the beautiful building and decor, everything about this restaurant is on point. The service is top notch and every dish was fresh, tasty and delicious looking. Even the wine takeout prices were epic. I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed port until I had one of their port flights as an after dinner treat!

The best wine list in Canterbury by far, matched with scrummy food and outstanding service and ambiance!

Don't get me wrong, Cellar Door is a must go for wine lovers in Otautahi. Their flights are the mere price of 1 cocktail, and their portions are enormous. Their fries are also - in my opinion - some of the best in town. I had picked the spot for an anniversary celebration and was a tad disappointed by the lack of cosiness, romance inside. Bench style tables at the windows are very impersonal, with an abrasive lighting and no space to even touch feet should you desire. The staff was a little brusque, seeming impatient with the whole ordeal. From the outside, Cellar Door looks like a cozy space to escape the cold. Inside, it's big and classy, but would do better with a crackling fireplace, and a more intimate setting. + Points for the seasonal menu. Will definitely be returning for flights and fries (the F and F), but won't stay for dinner.

Service was outstanding and the food absolutely delicious. Loved the wide selection of flights, we got to taste some different wines. A must try is the chicken liver pâté and the lemon brûlée tart! I'll definitely be a repeat offender! Michelle

This is a regular spot, Tim and the team have a gorgeous restaurant. Food, wine and atmosphere are 5 *. Restaurant never disappoints. Always book because it's so popular.

We had an excellent experience from start to finish. Rose was the perfect Waitress and attended to us with a professional and friendly manner that contributed enormously to the enjoyment of the occasion. We asked to change our seating and this was done immediately to our satisfaction. 😊

Good wine list at reasonable prices as well as good beer selection. Menu very limited. Maybe because of holidays. Nicely cooked venison and lamb but small portions. Overall saved by the sauces. Left having enjoyed experience but still hungry.

My husband and I had fantastic time here. I had the beef Cheeks and my husband had the forest mushrooms risotto, they were mouth watering!!! The wine was so beautiful and we had the warm orange and almond cake, that was so delicious! We also had the fries and they were so good! The staff were so lovely and very welcoming. Omg the service was fantastic and our food and drinks came out so fast. Highly recommend coming here!!

The waitrons were attentive and seemed like they were chosen for their effortless enjoyment of what they were doing and most welcoming. The wine menu was informative. It told you where the wines were from, the blends and the taste we could expect. I'll be back.

I've only been for coffees, but the atmosphere is great, and there are very few places where you can get a coffee after 5 on a Sunday. A bit pricey but a nice experience.

Crafty idea having wine tastings sold as "flights" as an option on the menu. When your not sure what to have and you can only have one, it's a fun option. We went as a group & ordered canapes to share. The cheeses are amazing. I wished we had more crackers and/or fruit to go with it. The decor on point. The location dreamy (art centre-remember that thriving place preqquakes? It will be back) and had an element of mystique since the entrance is hard to spot with the amount of construction just up the way. I look forward to going back and ordering a proper meal.

Formerly known as, Annie's, the Cellar Door is my favourite restaurant in Christchurch. A small, well chosen menu, that changes regularly according to seasonal availability, together with a comprehensive wine list, all set in the wonderful restoration of the Arts Centre. Perfect, especially when combined with a movie at the Lumière cinema next door.

Food and wine selection was good. Used plates need to be cleared off table with out asking.Last orders call at 10pm when the restuarant only closes at 11pm.Food still good but spending well over $200 for 2 people you expect a bit more.,

Great wine list and loved the tasting menu of wines with their clever names and descriptions. The food though was disappointing. I had a mushroom tortellini dish - the broth was ok- a little salty ( no spoon given to indulge in this broth) but the tortellini had little flavour - a little like a flour and water mixture. Enjoyed the arancini with talegio sauce enough but the balls were also a little bland. Thought the waiter very attentive at first but we had no visit to offer desserts ( or more wine) which looked tasty and I’m sure we could have been convinced with the waiters obvious charm. We also didn’t get two of the dishes we ordered- many $$ were missed from our group of eight diners who would have indulged more. Loved the decor and ambience- well done on this. I’d probably go again for the wines but not the food 😐.

Went here with girlfriends last Thursday, restaurant was busy and had a great atmosphere. We all got the wine flights, food and then more wine with cheese. Great selections and reasonably priced. Was a great evening and we will definitely be back !!

Attractive wine bar in a restored historic building at the Arts Centre in Christchurch. The food is of a high quality. There are many groups of wine tastings to select, which are brought to the table.

A wonderful and cordial afternoon was spent recently at the Cellar Door. Great service and attention to detail. Try the White Anchovies on Toast with Lemon Oil... comprehensive wine selection and great ambience. Always the Ambience. Hurry along.

It's hidden away nicely from the hustle n bustle, friendly staff, I ordered a bowl of French fries and aioli, I was very surprised at how big the bowl of fries was and a very good helping of aioli, enough to do the whole bowl of fries, which isn't the normal case most places you go Would fully recommend going here, whether it's to taste the vast selection of wines (and tastings) or to have a bite to eat
