Always a good time! I don't get to visit Christchurch as often as I would like but Last Word is always on the list of must go to places. The whiskey selection is just next level! And their cocktails are always superb. Olives are always super tasty and a great wee snack to go along with as well

I love good whiskey. This place has so many different brands of whiskey and I finally got to sample a whiskey from Wales! A nice relaxed vibe and curtious staff. A really chill place to go for a decent quality drink.

Was nervous coming, due to some of the old reviews. Overall I loved it! Staff we're super helpful, and always checked on us. Drinks were absolutely lovely. Also if you drink 4 tap beers 🍻 you're final one was free! Super helpful for them beer heads out there.

Beautiful heritage building. Staff are always friendly and their is always table service. Great veiw. Comfortable furniture like lounge chairs. Warm inviting atmosphere. One of my favourite places in Christchurch

Outstanding experience, booked a whiskey tasting event for a stag do. The staff were friendly flexible and helped us plan our evening. With exceptional service, beverage knowledge and great food, you'd be hard pressed to find a better host for your tasting event. 10/10 would do again!

Our group included wine whisky cocktail beer and spirits drinkers and we were all happy. We happened to be there on BBQ night. They lit the big fire out on New Regent St and made the most delicious burgers. Veg and meat options

We were only in Christchurch for 2 nights and after finding this bar on the first night we couldn't help but spend our second night here as well! Such a lovely bar with the best staff! Thanks so much for such friendly service and delicious drinks!

Here is my favorite location for a night cap in Otautahi. When staying in accomodation in the inner city, heading back from whatever event you had, you sometimes have that want to settle the evening with a nice shot of whiskey or liquor. That kind of drink that you want to remember in the morning as a great way to finish the night on. I've been here several times to have that drink and haven't been disappointed. Asking for that favourite cocktail is also recommended as the team behind the bar have always been able to make them.

Very knowledgeable staff. Set in a heritage building in New Reagent street. Dim lighting with the colorful lights spilling indoors from the street. Moody and artistic. Very much a date night venue. Fantastic range of whiskeys, 3 tastings for $30. Excellent place to go try something you haven’t before. Will be back for sure.

An amazing aesthetic coupled with a convenient location and great customer service. The Last Word has an extensive and comprehensive list of alcohols of various forms, all of which appear to be priced fairly. I don't expect tonight to be my last visit.

Amazing selection and knowlegeable staff. The servie was extraordinary. Went on a Monday night. The place wasn't busy which gave us a lot of time with our server. Was a really good experience and the place is awesome.

Lovely little cocktail & whiskey bar. Vast selection of whiskeys, decent menu for cocktails too. The bar has a literal wall of bottles with an old school library ladder on rollers which is pretty cool. Quite small so limited seating inside, more seating outside and blankies for when it's a bit nippy. Lots of nice wee touches, like getting the name of your whiskey on a slip

Great bar with amazing whisky collection. Tried two different scotch (Islay + Highland) paddle boards which were paired with some delicious chocolates. Super cozy space too - lovely to just sit, drink and chat.

Great selection of 270 something odd whiskey's, knowledgeable and friendly staff! Not a huge range of eats, but it's focus is great drinks/cocktails/whisky and we enjoyed going here and having a quiet drink without the pressure of having to buy a meal or feeling the heat for only wanting a drink that you might cop at restaurant focused establishments.

Great location and flights of whiskey paired with chocolates. Ran low on glassware but were flexible in letting the three of us share two flights. My favorite -- having more than 1 hot toddy to choose from!

Amazing selection for the region. Prices are reasonable, I had a Laphroaig old fashioned for example and it was excellent. Small place so don't expect things are fast, but very nice and homely. Everyone's kind and knowledgeable. Would come back.

It's got a romantic atmosphere and comfy seats. The cheese toasties go so well with the wine. The ingredients are really good quality.

Really good whiskeys and cocktails but lacked a bit in service as was a bit slow. We were sat down when we entered but then was just left and we had to find someone to get menus and to place an order

The last word is a mood lit whiskey bar with a lightly intimidating list of delicious cocktails and whiskeys. The great staff will walk you through the menu depending on whatever you feel like for the evening to come away satisfied after a evening in the lounge. I've had fruity cocktails, sour cocktails, hot toddies in soup mugs, custom funky cocktails, and espresso martinis and irish coffees that'll knock your socks off. Try the garlic bread. I don't know what they do to it, but it is my Number # 1 garlic bread. Absolutely amazing.

Found this awesome place nestled in the beautiful New Regent St. Amazing selection of drinks on the menu, it's hard to choose what to have. The staff are so helpful and very friendly. Will definitely recommend this place for a peaceful drink or three.

We spent two lovely cocktail hours at The Last Word in November of 2018. Knowledgeable hosts made it fine—and they carried a Kentucky bourbon, Willet Pot Still Reserve, not available in Oregon, where we live. Good bites, nice tables outside. Highly recommend The Last Word. Nearly two years later, we still enjoy thinking about the hours we spent there.

Another excellent meal. Highly recommend the polenta chips. Great staff, very attentive and knowledgeable, they will help if your Italian pronunciation is like mine ! The wine list isnt huge but covers all the bases.

This is a sweet little quiet place to drink. They have so many types of whiskey it is amazing. The staff are super awesome and the mojitos are truly the best in the city. I love this place and stop in regularly. Highly recommend a nice night out with friends there as it’s quiet enough to actually talk to each other and there are no TVs to distract you.

If you look at the reviews I do, in the main I am "that 5 star guy", in essense I mainly just rate the places that stand out to me. I have frequented the last word quite a few times and it has always been really good - but tonight they impressed the @#$% out of me. My wife and a friend had a less than great experience here a couple of months back, which suprised me a little as I had always found the place to be good. Tonight we called in for a quick drink on the way into town. As we went to settle the bill they;- 1) recognised my wife after a couple of months 2) apologised for the previous experience and explained the cause of it 3) bought us our drinks totally out of the blue. This is utterly awesome customer service and if I could give the last word 6 stars for this single act of excellent customer service I would.

An absolute gem. We had a wonderful evening at the Last Word. The service was so attentive and friendly, especially considering it was a busy Friday night. They have a great range of classic boozy cocktails and an *extensive* whiskey menu, which the staff are very knowledgeable about. The food menu is small but consists of kiwi classics such as "kiwi dip" which was a real treat for a couple of ex pats home for a short visit. A must-visit in Christchurch.

Service was fantastic. Our server was amazing with reviews and recommendations of not only drinks The Last Word had but of other restaurants in the area. Definitely a must stop for drinks. Highly recommend the stout on tap (Jan 2020), Hanukah smoked whiskey, and 3 brothers cider.

Stumbled upon this place and popped in the next time I was down for work. Super relaxed, friendly and prompt service, a great atmosphere and excellent range of whiskey. If you’re a fan of olives then order the ones off this menu. I can see how the place might get packed on a busy night so arrive early if you want a spot. Looking forward to the next time I am back.

A great place for whisky connoisseurs. The staff knows every whisky on the menu and can describe the flavour and texture accurately. They didn’t have the particular whisky I was after but he recommended good one to me. Great service, good selection of whisky, and the prices are fair. Five stars.

Incredible selection of whiskeys and some very knowledgeable staff to help you choose. You can tell they each have a passion for it. This place is exciting for people less familiar with the amber restorative, and to regular drinkers of the stuff. The seating inside is very comfortable, upstairs and down. Plenty of outdoor seats too. I highly recommend visiting!

It hasn’t got every Scottish malt there is but they’re giving it a good go. Sampled on this visit; Tobermory (Isle of Mull) and Oban (highlands). Very warming!

This is such a great cozy place for a drink. They have an amazing range of whiskey as well as cocktails and other drinks for those not keen on whiskey. The staff are amazingly knowledgeable about whiskey and are attentive, checking if you're enjoying your night and give great table service. I always enjoy coming here, the last word has some nice old arm chairs and table settings out the front on the tramway and a ncie more spacious upstairs area. Really good atmosphere with low lighting and great music. If you're looking for a relaxing chilled out vibe this is the place

Beautiful- I come here fairly often for a drink or two. Recently hosted an event with 15 people and we decided to come here, staff were very accommodating and friendly always coming out to check we were ok. This is the type of service we always receive when we come here. Staff have fantastic knowledge of the drinks and are always keen to suggest their favourites. Highly recommended.

My happy place. Something like 400 different bottles of whisky!!! Staff are super knowledgeable. Relaxed, cozy atmosphere, and the most delicious cheese toasted sandwich I've ever eaten.

A comfortable and quaint place for that special late night dram or finger off the world finest whiskey, bourbon, gin and so much more. Ask the staff of anything on the provenance of your drink and they nail the answer. Cozy couches , chairs, and tables and ambiance that says relax. A must do on New Regent Street in Christchurch.

Go upstairs and enjoy the great decor. They have a pretty solid menu but I love asking for their old fashioned special of the week.

A respectful speakeasy themed cocktail bar in the midst of Christchurch’s regenerating CBD, we had a welcome last stop here on the way home. When venturing inside the inviting interior, we were warmly greeted and offered to take a table of our choosing by the barkeep. He soon joined us at the table with menus and pitchers of water, and we were left to decide on our beverages. The cocktail list seemed very well constructed, a real range of bespoke ingredients and spirits on offer with unique-sounding combinations, as well as a profusion of whiskies, wines and other drinks. Plenty of sensible food accompaniments to choose from too such as olives and cheeses. I had a “Smoky Bramble” which hit all the right notes for me, my perfect drink. The service and ambience was on point for a memorable cocktail experience I would return for.

Like most places on New Regent this place looks amazing inside and out. The bar is stacked to the rafters with a crazy ammount of whiskeys! Upstairs is dark moody and awesome. Friendly staff.

I love this place. It was here i discovered my love of gin cocktails after years of disappointment. Retro and pretentious but delightfully so due to staff friendliness and real mix of clientele.
