Reviews of Pequeno Wine & Cocktail
D.
Excellent vibes, food options looked great, but we were there too late. I tried every drink we ordered (all cocktails) which were all delicious. Huge drink variety
B.
Lemon meringue cocktails are to die for, and if you can get a seat close to the fire it's a perfect end to a night out!
R.
Small and chilled out. Cocktails were tasty and consistent throughout the night.
S.
It had a nice atmosphere to the place earlier in the evening. Open fireplace was lovely even though there was a smell of smoke in the room from it . I thought the cocktails were overpriced for what they were. Not sure if I'd hurry back.
S.
Went on a Thursday night at around 11.30 or midnight. Place was warm, and the ambience near perfect. I've read a comment about poor service, but we didn't have any issue it whatsoever. Staff were friendly and responsive without being overbearing or intrusive. The cocktails were fantastic, as was the selection of gin. Staggered out very happy at the end of a lovely evening.
Y.
Great cocktail bar, with a gentleman's bar atmosphere. A drink for every taste.
M.
One of the few comfortable welcoming bars left in Dunedin. Everyone there is always friendly and it creates such a positive relaxed environment to drink in. I'm glad I was shown pequenos by a friend this year. Will definitely come here more often!!
S.
Good service, innovative and well made cocktails, warm and eclectic ambiance.
L.
This bar has an amazing, warm atmosphere. Really friendly staff and prompt service. A roaring fire for those cold nights, too! Congratulations, guys! We had an awesome time!
P.
Since recently attending a 21st at Pequeno, it has become our favourite bar in Dunedin for a relaxed drink and catchups. The hospitality and service are outstanding, and the warm, inviting atmosphere is quite special. Highly recommended!!
Q.
Wow this is Dunedin's best kept secret the atmosphere is amazing if you want a chill out with good friends and no drama this is the bar and the drinks have their own twist best Kahlua and milk I've ever had 👍
E.
Great bar, always warm and a great place to go for a quiet drink with friends and family. A fine selection of drinks to choose from and great customer service from all hardworking staff. Love Peqeno will happily return.
A.
Great atmosphere, an enduring classic
B.
Loved coming here for wine nights every week for almost 6 months. Cozy atmosphere, Suuuper chill vibes. Great tasting tapas and wine. Very relaxing, don't come expecting a party, but a nice night out.
C.
Tucked down a driveway away from the street 👍🏼. Not a lot of room inside (more seats would be nice), but cosy — we enjoyed the atmosphere/ambience. Cocktail selection was good and the staff were friendly. Worth a visit.
B.
One of the best atmospheres of any bar in Dunedin
M.
Great little cocktail bar tucked away, only the lucky few discover. Ask Jo to make you a drink she is a master of mixes. Highly recommended.
L.
This used to be my favourite place to relax and enjoy a drink.. It is now a lot busier with the same amount of staff. The staff are great, just not enough of them. And the atmosphere is not what is was. Still it is a good place to relax and meet friends.
S.
Stunning little back street (posh) bar, away from the hustle of town.
Perfect place on a cold winter night with the large open fire being the center piece of the bar.
Staff are super, they love making cocktails and their expertise is next level.
R.
Awesome little bar, tucked away down an alley off Moray place, not too loud or jam-packed, the ambience and background music is fabulous, possibly one of the nicest bars in Dunedin
S.
A perfect place to shelter from a rainy day outside in front of a real log fire on comfy seats with great cocktails. Really dig the dark and slightly shabby vibe, and great choice of background music
F.
Great atmosphere - will go again to catch some live jazz. Friendly service, reasonable prices and good selection for drinks. Did not eat there so can't comment. Could do with better lighting down alleyway. Not very safe feeling if arriving on your own to meet friends.
J.
Great drinks, cool staff, nice atmosphere
V.
Delicious cocktails and a roaring fire, the perfect place for a girls night out
A.
Good selection if interesting beer, and a really nice ambience. This place would be especially good while the southerly is blowing!
J.
Great little intimate bar, tucked down an alley way.
F.
Chill, dark, jazz, fire. Do not try to eat here but a great place for a drink. Busy later in the evening but a fine conversation well early.
j.
Good bar staff, small intimate place, good house music at times, they also have live music from time to time. It's an out of the way kind of place. It away from the hustle and bustle. They have a smokers area and a cozy fire when it's chilly.
A.
The place is really cool with friendly staff I like it
J.
Great atmosphere, warm fire and excellent range of drinks.
M.
Best bar in Dunedin. Cozy and intimate with fantastic cocktails and music
H.
A quiet, reclusive bar with a great vibe. Comfortable seating, a roaring fire and a fine selection of drinks.
A.
Amazing small little place in Dunedin. The owners were very friendly. Bar tender was very meticulous how he made his drinks.
K.
Awesome little jazz bar with big open fire
J.
Had a good night...too hot with the fire going! Quick service despite being busy.
F.
Very good cocktail. Had the antipasto platter, tasty olives and pesto. Possibly too much bread. Better than too little.
C.
Decent bar to sit and chat. Music not over powering, with awesome cocktails.
S.
I can never remember the name of the cocktail I always get from here, but it's limey and really good.
M.
Great ambiance & location very well made drinks. Customer service lacking.
Q.
It is always a great time here. Chilled jazz vibe with some awesome cocktails mixed by Ryan.
D.
Quiet wee bar. Lovely setting
N.
Cosy and warm. Not enough outdoor seating in my opinion. The seating inside is very comfortable.
A.
Fantastic bar/cocktail lounge. Great selection of craft beer.
C.
Love the candles and music! Good drinks too
G.
Kicked us out but it was really nice!! Check out the cocktail list!
J.
Excellent drinks and cosy atmosphere
k.
Comfy and mysterious bar, great place to end a night.
M.
A very relaxed atmosphere. Always a pleasure to visit.
B.
Great little wine bar in an alley attached to the Savoy
C.
Cosy place with great cocktails
D.
Old stable. Intimate for a few nightcaps. Wish there were more bars like this.
A.
No two drinks the same! Dunedin's best- kept dirty little secret.
D.
Great cocktails and very large selection of beer and wine. They have a large open area where you can relax with your friends. They have an open fire where you can warm up when it is cold outside, on the other hand If it is a nice night there are seats and tables outside.
The only downside to our night was the bar man. He was rude and and abrupt. He wasn’t very pleasant and he didn’t give any good vibes and I got the feeling he just wanted us to leave. Which is a shame because he is representing the bar.
D.
Hidden little gem with a great atmosphere
N.
Lovely cocktail.... Very nice chat
P.
Best cocktails in Dunedin in a down tempo, dimly lit setting. Perfect for a quiet drink on a week night. Knowledgeable staft.
M.
This bar is down a dead-end ally, in the basement of a mainstreet business. When you first find it, it seems a little seedy. But it attracts a civil and tidy clientel. The staff are polite and will mix cocktails etc on request. It's a very small space, hence the name. Where it really comes into its own is winter. This tiny bar, not much bigger than my lounge ar home, has an open fire. In winter they crank that up and you can sit beside a real log fire, sipping a wine beer or brandy. I find it a bit overcrowded when its busy but if you can get here on a quieter night or before 5pm when the hipsters start to fill it up, you may like it.
E.
Great cozy atmosphere and good choice of liqueurs.
H.
Great ambience and the high prices are worth it.
T.
Visited this bar in mid-March, 2017 - didn't even know it existed. Younger brother and his wife go there a bit, and he dragged me down the alley and into this place after we'd stuffed our faces at The Asian restaurant across Moray Place. (On that, this place would be kinda' hard to find. It's located down an alley that I didn't know was there, almost directly across the street from The Asian. And if memory serves, Pequenos does not seem to have any in-your-face advertising on Moray Place to advertise that it's open for business. But, I reckon this could be part of its coolness. Those who know it's there enjoy the fact that you need to know how to get to it, to enjoy it's vibe).
So - the bar. Awesome little place. Beaut vibe to it. I get the feeling that you'd very rarely, if ever, ever see any fully drunked-up idiots in the place. It serves really, really good beers and fantastic cocktails (maybe food as well, though I saw no evidence of that; not that I was looking).
It's almost like Pequenos is a bar in Dunedin for the grown-ups, if you know what I mean.
If you're in Dunners, and you get the chance, I recommend you give this place a shot. You will not be disappointed. (Or if you are, then we're on completely different wavelengths).
Cheers
Tony

Excellent A-class cocktails
R.
Great Jazz bar in Dunedin. Hidden away in a back alley it offers cocktails, a great selection of beer and friendly staff. Where there is a Jazz gig in it gets really really busy so definitely get in early if you're hoping to catch some music. Definitely worth a look but don't be disheartened if you can't get in the first time, it's worth a few visits.
A.
Great staff, excellent ambience and cocktails. Shares the top spot in Dunedin with Zanzibar.

We were so indulged by our host, Alex. This guy is gonna be a star! With a little chat about what we were looking for, Alex would deftly prepare the most exquisite and/or extraordinary drink we'd ever tasted - upping the ante every time.
Hit his signature negroni first, sit back and take in your surroundings. You won't regret it.
