Good beer and nice place. On Xmas monday is awesome... Great staff!!! Was too early this visit...usually is quite packed and live!

Stopped here for lunch and tried the seafood chowder (as I always do, wherever it's on the menu) - this is my all time #2 seafood chowder without a doubt. (It would have bumped #1, but #1 is served in a bread bowl and I'm only human.) The service was great, good vibes, excellent drink selection and the entree vs main sizing of dishes is awesome for someone like me who always feels terrible not being able to finish high quality mains. I will be recommending this place to anyone I know traveling to Dunedin and intend to return next time I'm in town.

Excellent coffee - strong and not too milky. Great spot and great atmosphere. Big warm cosy fireplace. Excellent soups! Have tried three different soups and they were all delicious.

We visited at Level 2. It was a wet cold day. The tavern was warm and inviting. Great service from the staff and we both really enjoyed our meals. I tried something different - braised hare!

Stopped in for a coffee this afternoon and found The Craic pretty cool. Great atmosphere to sit down and relax today. The staff were really friendly and service was quick and trouble free. It was cold this afternoon so we stayed inside. Would be nice outside on the Octogon on a warmer day.

The staff here are great, as is the atmosphere. Lovely big roaring fire and the mulled wine hits the spot on a cold day. This is my go to bar every time.

In the heart of Dunedin, the Craic can be whatever you want it to be as you watch life in the city walk on by. Choose cosy tavern or balmy outdoor drinks - the Craic is all about location! I can also recommend the beer battered fries. Yum!

Great Tavern, great food and reasonably priced drinks. The staff are awesome and very kind, I always feel very welcome. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice quiet bar, with a warm room and comfortable seating.

Great venue to meet and catchup over a beveragecor 2 and some nice eats. If your quick there are seats by the gas fire.

Good lamb chop. Sauce has heaps of flavour.

Spotted the fireplace from outside on a cold wet morning which enticed us in. Coffee and freshly baked muffins were lovely, place looked clean and cosy. We'll be back on a cold night to try the mulled wine by the fire!

Nice little Irish pub, with a warm and homey atmosphere due to the open fire. The place is quite small, but doesn't give a cramped feeling (granted, we were there on a not so busy off season saturday night). Food is good and generous, typical pub style.

Fantastic service and ambiance. They helped us tourists heat up some heat bags in the microwave, had a beautiful fire to keep us warm. The food was amazing and homey and i really wish i could adopt this little pub. I also love the name! Amazing.

Sometimes I need Kilkenny and I don't care where it is from. The Craic Irish Tavern can provide for these particular impulses. I like it. In fact I like Irish taverns in general. Like the great Shane McGowan the people that inhabit these places might be a little bumped on the corners to look at but the spirit is strong inside. There was an old lady drinking alone with sandshoes on, she would be a great character to base a short film on. I could finish by talking about how amiable the bar staff were but that would make this review normal.

We had dinner here before going to the movies and the food was excellent. I had Thai Beef Salad and my partner had gluten free fish and chips, both were delicious and served in good time. I would definitely recommend the Craic as a dinner venue! 👍

Just a really fantastic place right downtown. Had several drinks there are reasonable prices for the area. Also had a bit of food that came out looking fabulous and also tasted great. Really relaxed environment when we came for lunch. Fire place in the corner really sets the tone

Local Musicians play live music every Thursday. Good selection of local beers (Emersons is the popular choice). Great bar food and meals. Fireplace is a nice touch with seating to enjoy it while watching a game of Rugby. Come along every Thursday and listen to Kylie Price. Great live performer

Went for lunch and got the hare, came out too quick so felt like the potatoes had been cooked well before. The hare was a bit dry and the tomatoe thing on top was alright. Was hangry so demolished it and there was heaps. Nice friendly staff and cool space. Probably just beer and snacks next time...

Super friendly staff and amazing beer!! The food is really nice but the kitchen closed at 9 pm, after that is only snacks( but the really good ones ;).

I've been here before when the inside temperature was excessively high but tonight the tavern was warm without being hot. The Guinness was drawn and served perfectly with a strong head at just the right height and a small amount of settling needed before drinking. Well worth the visit on a Tuesday night (or other such night) when it's not as crowded.

A Guinness and a bowl of soup on a cold day was much appreciated.

Really lovely staff, perhaps even recommend it on that alone! The interior is nice, warm and Irish. Good seating available for groups or the solo traveler. After around 9pm they still have a decent 'snacks menu' available with food like nachos, burgers, bread and dip options etc. The prices are get reasonable and the service is nice and quick. Would definitely recommend to folks wanting a hearty meal. It helps that it's really nice and warm inside with a fire and leather lounges too!

Indifferent staff, mediocre food. But a nice fire and a few good beers on tap - they have not, thankfully, turned the taps completely over to "craft" beer. Ideal location right on the octagon. Only very rarely busy.

We had a coffee and food in the cafe next food, which I think is owned by the same people and the food came from the Tavern. Staff were lovely and the food and coffee was delicious.

Very nice place to have drinks at night in Dunedin. But more than that, a great place to have dinner! We went as a group during semester break, and tried out three different dishes from the dinner menu. Braised hare was delicious and tender, Irish stew was wonderful, and the craic burger awsome. All portions were big and served with beer buttered fries, salad, or vegetables. The pub is very small inside, but there are tables outside (even in winter), and the service is very good. Till 8:30pm a nice place for couples and small groups, then it becomes much louder and more drink-focused. A nice selections of beers and wines available as well. Definitely would go again.

Have been here a couple of times and it just keeps getting better. The staff & service are great along with the people who go here. Last time had a single guy with his guitar & mic entertaining the crowd and he was perfect.

Spent a couple of plesant hours sitting in the sun enjoying a few pints of the black stuff. The staff were friendly and service was prompt.

Lovely and cosy with a fire. We would have stayed longer if we had been able to. The beer was good and the food looked amazing....didn't get to taste it though!

I've been there three times ,I found two of the time were good food competitively priced ,my father on the other side was irate because the special wasn't special at all ,& the dish in question was ment to have cherry tomatoes and ham and didn't???

Excellent seafood chowder for lunch. Good Guinness and excellent Pogues music in the background. Free WiFi for an hour. Will come back for the live music on Tuesday

Good Pub Food and great service. The toilets were clean but reeked of urine to the point of making me feel sick. Such a shame.

I loved it. It is spacious and dark with wooden furniture, a true pub. All dishes are extremely generous and rich. Everything was quite tasty. It was the only place in NZ in which I found Haggis, that made a perfect blend to a Scotish breakfast. Praise to the city's heritage. The attendant was very attentive and polite.

Great Irish pub in centre of city. Food is consistently good. We meet friends here on most Sundays for a catch up and a beer. Just been after a COVID forced abscence and it still has great atmosphere
