I’ll start with the negatives. This place is in dire need of a reno (that means renovation). A lot of the rooms are extremely dated. The owner really seems to love the colour gold too. The showers don’t have detachable shower heads (always a shame) and they only seem to shoot out scalding hot water. However, the staff are brilliant. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. They even have a clothesline so you can dry your clothes in the sun!

Very modern. Great rooms. Very clean and quiet. Excellent restaurant, menu and service.

Very popular. Pays to book beforehand. Very pleasant people and it's locally operated and owned which I reckon deserves your custom

Good room, well appointed, lovely dinner and great breakfast. Very accommodating staff, nice.

I've stayed at a lot of hotels, and this was right up there with some of the flashiest places I have stayed. Modern decor, friendly knowledgeable staff, spotlessly clean, comfy bed, really powerful shower and quality bathroom products, full amenities. Just can't rate them highly enough. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We'll be back for sure.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night to catch the Transalpine next day. Must say that the service here was outstanding. It's a pleasure to mention the services of Nikhil at the restaurant and Umita at the reception who rendered us and outstanding friendly and a personalized service. Well done and keep it up.

Spacious clean and tidy room. Only niggle.....seems a lot of travelling workers use this hotel and are a bit chatty in the hallway early in the morning and it seems slamming the doors is normal.....perhaps a different door lock system would be beneficial.

Great place to stay. A bit far from town centre, but being clean, spacious, with friendly and helpful staff (thumbs up for the reception girl on evening of 11th July 2020). The only issue for us is, there is not enough power outlets to plug kettle, or other electrical devices in our motel room.

It was a nice, clean room which served perfectly for just myself. The staff were lovely and easy to talk with and all round willing to help, the food was exceptional however a tad on the more pricey side.

Lovely room.very hospitable and pleasant.we had upstairs room and was carrying large suitcase.they changed rooms for us.without even us asking.would recommend to stay here.you can only drive to township here as too far to walk.restaurant here is yum

Good enough for an overnight but their pool is unheated and you have to walk outside past the chalet type building to get to it. Also, when I asked two receptionists if there was a walk into town or a nice walk anywhere was told NO! I went exploring on foot and the ocean and a coastal path is literally behind this hotel. Head towards town take the first left and you will see the ocean. A beautiful deserted pebble beach goes for miles. Local knowledge is a must for hotel staff. Their dining was quite good and handy after a long day.

Really enjoyed my stay. Comfortable rooms, convenient bar and restaurant facilities, and friendly helpful service. Definitely returning.

Friendly staff. Lovely room. Bed was comfy as. The spa pool an gym was a bonus. Only downfall was the restaurant was not open the 2 nights we were there

It is a nice hotel but the restaurant was closed for the weekend!! I can understand saving money in these unusual times and was disappointed. However restaurant is open from Monday to Friday and breakfast on Monday was really nice. Great staff and rooms also.

I booked the incorrect data via wotif. Nisha at the front desk went over and above sorting it out. She did not need to to this as it was my fault and I needed to sort it with wotif. She was Great. Well done Ashley Hotel I will be back.

A comfortable and warm place to stop over. It is showing its age a bit but is clean, warm and quite roomy in the motel suites. We had a full kitchen. The restaurant was well appointed but understaffed and the food was pretty ordinary for the price - definitely not in line with the past awards on the wall.

This place would get a three star review but the lovely bar and restaurant staff saved this place when me and my friend stayed the night. We just stayed one night fortunately as it was very hot in the room and needed looking after a lot better. However, we had a lovely evening chatting to the main bartender and a coach driver during our stay which earns the place an extra star.

What a fabulous place to stay and highly recommend Nisha on reception she was awesome (thanks Nisha) you went beyond our expectations and upgraded our room thank you so much you made our holiday so special. The facilities are great nice pool and spa. The restaurant on site, wow, the food was fantastic compliments to the chef our meal was 5 star and the restaurant manager from Mumbai was fabulous too so thank you. What a great team very attentive would definitely come back again.

Great spot. Lots of tour groups. The night we were there the other guests were up late and loud. Past 1 am talking and laughing. The all glass front wall has poor sound proofing. Sleeping is one function of a hotel. When other guests are inconsiderate, the construction and design should be able to compensate.

Fantastic, turned up at 1230 needing a room for the night due to unforseen circumstances, rang the bell, lovely gentleman came to the door and gave me a room, super easy, great service, great room and amenities.

Ate at the restaurant, didn't stay in any of their rooms. Outstanding food, outstanding service. We were made to feel special by very professional and attentive staff. A lovely evening.

We arrived unexpectedly in Greymouth recently, thanks to road closures, and got superb service when seeking a room for the night. Safe parking for our soft-top car, toasted sandwiches organised by the reception staff because we arrived too late for the restaurant, and a very comfortable bed and stylish clean room. The customer services staff were fantastic!

It's a bit average for the pricing. No drinks menu on the tables? The food was cooked very nicely but way too much salt. There is salt and pepper at the table if patrons want to season it. The staff were nice and friendly and we all had a good time but.... I don't know. Missing something.

The room was very small. Have to say our room was clean and above what we expected. Good price for a 2bd. Walk about a block to your right as you come out of hotel, you'll find a beautiful cemetery to explore, and a little further on, the beach.

Recommend if you want good value for money and if location doesn't bother you. Interesting artwork in the restrooms. Plenty of staff with little to do. On waking in the morning I had several insect bites. The room was obviously very old and had been updated but it was not a complete success.

Basic hotel which has all the amenities but designed and probably built in the 1950's. When we arrived it was sunny and hot. The room was hotter with only a window to slightly cool it. Hard to sleep, no air conditioning. Everything else appears to work. It is similar to the town Greymouth. Found one nice restaurant opposite the railway. If you want a relaxed holiday, Greymouth is good. Excellent town museum just opened. Not a lot for the kids in town. Fortunately we're only here for one night

We weren't too sure what to expect (sorry Greymouth) but this place was fantastic. Most of our group enjoyed the hottub. Staff are very helpful and friendly. We have not paid this for lamb, beef or venison in the best restaurants in New Zealand. Train station is located near by.

Only 120$ for an apartment with 2 separate rooms, kitchen, living room and toilet + shower + bathtub! Modern design and very comfortable and thought through set up. Plus is only 4 minute drive from town center. The only thing I didn't like is that the TV is hanging on the wall and it`s impossible to stick an HDMI cable in it. But still managed to put a flash drive with my movie so definitely 5/5!

Amazing staff made this one of my favourite hotels. Lovely restaurant and bar. Plus tasty food and very clean rooms. Highly recommended.

Swimming pool and spa not available for use. We had to ask for compensation for this as the booking advertised this. Motel rooms good size but wall paper shabby and mould smell in shower, bit run down. Overall ok.

Very accom staff and made to feel welcome.bedroom very light at night due to lights on along walkway need better blinds to shut out the light.Also very noisy due to a power plant near by or similar. Generally ok.Also TV facility for Sky was of very poor reception .

Receptionist was extremely kind and customer oriented. Also we are very welcomed and served by restaurant team.

Shower in our room was slow as.. and no heat pump/air con. All you get is a heater and electric fan. Can't imagine staying there in summer. Otherwise it's okay for an overnight rest stop like what we did.

The Ashley "Hotel" is a hotel and a motel, depending on the tariff. We stayed in room 19 (a motel room) and found the room to be clean, comfortable and wholly satisfactory. We did have concerns about security based on other reviews, but didn't have a single issue. The staff and service were pretty cold, but I suppose for us we ignored the "Hotel" moniker and treated it like an average motel, which I suppose it is. The location is convenient, but room 19 was on the road (and train line) so a bit noisy, and the parking situation behind the room was a little messy as everyone seemed to be parking in everyone else's spaces, as if they were missing spaces for some reason. The furnishings were pretty out of date, but we spotted in other rooms that they had been updated somewhat so perhaps there's ongoing renovations. Stayed January 2013.

Motel units need upgrading but beds comfortable and pillows too. Lovely staff

Staff are friendly and helpful. Near to beach and a little bit far from town if you don't have your own car. Comfortable bed. Room spacious.

The room was clean, self sufficient and very well maintained. We arrived late in the evening and yet we had a very warm staff at the reception to help us check in. Value for Money!

Large spacious rooms, kitchen and bathrooms could use an update. Motel rooms are above average. No free wifi. TV HDMI etc is not locked out like some hotels. Will stay here again, but won't be first option.

Only thing to take note of is the hotel is a short drive from town so more than likely need a car to stay here. We were wrong not to ask the price at the time but I do feel that the waitress could have told us the price when explaining the special. Door seemed quite thin.

New renovations being done to the hotel caused a bit of disturbance during the day. Wanted to use my laptop connected to the TV but it was not allowed as it was locked, asked at the desk if I can have it unlocked, it was denied. Meals were average this time, chicken pasta was under seasoned.

On a Sunday it was more deserted. We were disappointed when we got a breakdown of the restaurant bill on checkout that a chicken breast added to a side salad cost 37 dollars and the special of whitebait patties, chips and salad cost 39 dollars. Location was convenient to attractions.

Nice hotel by greymouth standards. There are 2 parts to the hotel. One is the motel, other is the hotel. I guess what you get is dependent on the tariff paid. Motel is a bit dated and could use an update. The hotel part is better.

I stay at the Ashley every few months for work and always have an enjoyable stay. Short drive to Shantytown and supermarket. The Ashley is several kilometres from CBD Greymouth so having access to transport is a must. The hotel is located a …

Really friendly and helpful staff. Rooms good Dinner was excellent Fish and Chips huge portion, most importantly the fish was Turbot really tasty.

This hotel/motel spot did the trick for us as we made our way up the West Coast. Clean and comfortable. Definitely more on the motel side, but a nice one.

The room was tired looking with a sliding bathroom door which didn't fit so you could see out and see in. The door to our room wouldn't lock properly therefore it would rattle through the night, so I had to push my suit case against the door. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Friendly staff all well educated on west coast knowledge. A little way from town centre but not a concern. Restaurant and bar on site as well as supermarket just down the street!

Great place to stay, we arrived after our 4 day West Coast Wilderness Trail ride, hot, tired, and feeling every muscle in our bodies. The pool was a welcome relief and the spa pool really made a difference to the joint aches. But, the accolades don't stop there. We dined in the hotel restaurant and had a most delicious meal. Our room was clean and tidy, the bed very comfortable.

(Translated) The hotel is beautifully decorated, the service is very good, and the bed is big enough. But unfortunately we won't be going back. In the hot summer, there is no air conditioner in the room, the window is small (because the bathroom occupies half of the outer wall) and can only be turned on a little, the fan is not available. We stayed up that night. (Original) 酒店装修的很漂亮，服务很好，床够大。但遗憾我们不会再去回去住了。炎夏，房间里没有空调，窗户小（因卫生间占据了半个外墙）而且只能开一点点，风扇是不能用的。我们熬了那一夜。

(Translated) A wonderful hotel with delicious cuisine, in a quiet location, with nice furnishings. My small, fine room was equipped with a very good hair dryer. I would also like to positively mention the body lotion in the large bottle with the pump device. Much better than the small tubes that only generate an infinite amount of waste. It is also not far to the seemingly endless, beautiful beach. (Original) Ein wunderbares Hotel mit köstlicher Küche, in ruhiger Lage, mit hübscher Ausstattung. Mein kleines, feines Zimmer war mit einem sehr gutem Fön ausgestattet. Auch die Bodylotion in der großen Flasche mit Pumpvorrichtung, möchte ich positiv erwähnen. Viel besser als die kleinen Tuben, die nur unendlich viel Müll erzeugen. Es ist auch nicht weit zu dem endlos scheinenden, wunderschönen Strand.

(Translated) The Ashley Hotel is the best choice you have if you want to or have to stop somewhere on the way from the north to the south of the South Island. The lack of air conditioning in the rooms unfortunately makes it necessary to have a fan in the hot season of the year to avoid suffocation !! Staff super friendly, food good. (Original) Das Ashley Hotel ist die beste Wahl die man hat, wenn auf dem Wege vom Norden zum Süden der Südinsel irgendwo eine Zwischenübernachtung einlegen will oder muss. Die fehlenden Klimaanlagen in den Zimmer machen es leider nötig, dass man in der heißen Zeit des Jahres unbedingt einen Lüfter braucht, um nicht zu ersticken!! Personal super freundlich, Essen gut.

The room is however warm and you can hear the neighbors a little. The restaurant kitchen (Original) Une chambre spacieuse avec un petit balcon (pas séparé des autres chambres de l'étage). La literie king size est confortable. Le ménage est bien fait. La chambre est cependant chaude et l'on entend un peu les voisins. La cuisine du restaurant

個人的には、コストパフォーマンスを考えると、なかなか満足しています。スタッフが丁寧でした。ホテルは観光向けです。部屋自体は清潔感があり、抵抗無く使えると思います。
