C.We came for lunch on a sunny day. We had the pleasure of enjoying the garden space. It’s fenced in so the kids can wonder and toys supplies to keep them busy.
The food was lovely and the drinks were cold, and they came promptly. A great dinning experience we can’t wait to come back.

L.Came in for lunch, we had a great meal of fish n chips (orange roughy) followed by apple shortcake. Couldn't be bettered. And very helpful and friendly hosts. Definitely be back next time we're in Hokitika.
V.We went to dinner last Friday night. The place was packed because of Christmas dos. We were served faster than we expected and my rib dinner and my partners lamb shank were deliciously tender and the portion size was perfect!

K.It was our first time here and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Delicious, fresh food with great friendly service. Hubby and I ordered the seafood chowder each as well as a main. The owners wife recommended we shared the chowder as it was very filling. She wasnt wrong. Appreciated the honesty. They could have just sold us 2 x chowders. Would highly recommend.

P.Highly recommend. Tidy, clean and roomy. Each room seems to have its own basin,(so handy) and the shared showers are large as and as mentioned, clean and tidy. Food very tasty too! And best of all, beer prices very reasonable. A+

A.This is the best hostel that I have been in NZ so far. The service is outstanding, the room is tidy and neatly prepared, has a warmer blanket, and the location is brilliant. The only downside is a small kitchen (maybe because they have a bar, but since I have food restrictions, so I need to prepare the food my self) and the loud noise from the train (my wife thought it was an earthquake, but it just a train passing by).
W.We just had dinner at the Pioneer Hotel, Chicken schnitzel with chips and salad for $20.00 delish ! Nice pool table, friendly happy staff, awesome outdoor area ( we ate outside in the sun) and a wee gamble on the pokies. We will definitely be back. Thanks :)
D.Very friendly Locals. All though we had a great time here talking and playing pool with the locals I think my drinks were not what I was paying for. I ordered double G&T but when I watched the server pour the gin into the jigger it looked like a 30 ml + a bit. It certainly didn't taste like a double in a Short glass

w.Stayed there this weekend , turned up late friday night, live band lots of people , thought I would never get any sheep , closed the door to our room and silence.. wonderful place to stay , nice food , friendly staff , and lovely locals make you feel welcome.. will be definitely be staying again ..

M.I admit I was a little worried when I walked in here and it was a bar full of rough old men and not the backpackers I expected. But down the hall was the coziest little budget room of my entire trip, and the staff was super friendly. Free WiFi, space heaters, electric blankets, nice pillows. I slept like a baby! Highly recommend.

A.What a gem of place to stay! Great facilities for all travellers. If your on a motorcycle trip the secure off street parking behind a locked gate is very reassuring. Short walk into town centre is another bonus.
D.Well-run and immaculately clean. Best value for seafood chowder in my entire experience of NZ. Walls in the inn are not very sound-proof, but the price and cleanliness make up for that.

P.Lovely and cozy. The owner is friendly and rooms are beautiful. Perfect for a stay of 2-3 days. The town is very picturesque as well.
Don't bring your meal to the beach though, the seagulls attack.
A.I only needed the room for a night. It was good for the price. Seemed clean and had the basic amenities. Only issue was the bed. It was very uncomfortable and I found myself waking up several times during the night because of it.
I would however stay here again. It was simple to check in and out. Staff were friendly. Bar out front so no need to walk anywhere for a drink.

D.John and Michelle run an honest unique hotel and my white bait fritter dinner exceeded my expectations. Their hospitality is second to none and couldn't do enough for me. I will stay there again because the Pioneer Hotel offered me security and good value.

K.This budget accommodation is great! The WiFi is FAST!!! And beds are comfy. Only two toilets and two showers which makes it a bit challenging sometimes but it isn’t that big of a deal. The kitchen is a great addition with refrig, kettle, even dishes, cutting board, cutlery, etc. there is a 4 square market .3 miles away. The town is an easy 5 minute walk and the beach is 10 minutes! There is a cute picture of wooden Hokitika you must take!

k.Clean and basic but rather compact in a double room for two people. Especially with soaking wet clothes and suitcases. We wouldn't not stay here again but we would book a bigger room.

E.I've come back to the Pioneer Everytime I come to Hokitika. Comfortable beds, great service, and cheap beer! There is even a breakfast nook, with a toaster, fridge, and kettle.
