A fantastic Brewery, I went to the distillery at the back Thomson Whisky New Zealand. It was a great day with friendly informative staff. Mat Thomson was on hand to offer a lot of information about the whisky making process, operation and design of the still. Their whisky is absolutely fantastic and it us clear to see why they have won numerous awards. I would happily recommend for anyone to try their whisky, I am going to get some and send to friends to help more people know about Thomson Whisky. I would be happy to go back to Thomson Whisky New Zealand anytime.

Great place, even the trip here in the countryside was nice. Great service, as soon as your glass is empty someone is there to refill it or take your order. Enjoyed my jalapeño poppers, pretty spicy too! My partner loved his burger. Great presentation and love the music too. So much to look at here, place is huge. It was great to hook up with our friends and all the children were entertained by the playground & drawings. Can't really fault this place, look forward to going again. The beer is so good too 👍

Nice atmosphere and decor, although do recommend to dress warm if you’re coming for dinner. Since it was busy on a Friday night, we were placed outdoors at the very back with limited heaters. The pork belly I would recommend, not chewy but tender. The cauliflower was a little dry and the chunkies were 7/10. The beer was very good though. Still recommend this place, especially on a nice sunny day !

A great spot to have a couple of cold ones. Looks nothing much from the outside. But inside you find this purpose built nice pub with a chill vibe. As the name suggests they got nice beer and great pizzas. Love the atmosphere and the vibe. Staff is friendly and helpful. It’s kid friendly and they got a play area with a rock climbing wall. Would def visit them again someday soon.

Place and atmosphere was amazing. The man as a Floor manager not professional enough for this kind of restaurant. Food was average quality for adults but unfortunately kids crispy chicken burgers was awful. We ordered 2 sets for our children but just they ate some chips and didn't touch the burgers. When I checked the food find out need to agree with kids. Chicken was over over fried like peace of bone and bun was old,dry and looks smashing before serving.

Great atmosphere, relaxed & funny but professional wait staff, and decent food & drinks. Also good to see strict adherence to covid restrictions (some specific tables could be spaced out a bit more though). Would recommend the Grilled peach salad!

Tiny tiny portions, rude servers. Group booking at Hallertau Brewery. Decor was basic, set lunch menu very few options. As a coeliac there were only 2 options for main. The portion size was really small. Tiny steak, burnt in the edge, had been seared too long and tasted of charcoal on the edge. Was well done even in the middle would have liked a little softer/rarer but wasn't given the option. No salad, just a few small slices of spring onion and a blob of mash which was nice. More of that would have filled me up! My friends waited ages For drinks to come had to keep asking.. My ginger beer looked and tasted like dishwater. No ginger taste. The only dessert available gluten free was a "trifle" that was essentially a pot of yogurt with a piece of strawberry on top and a gross sour tasting jelly that looked like snot. The server who was an older blonde lady was so rude and surly and spoke to customers as if they were naughty children. She really changed my opinion because her attitude didn't match my expectations of hallertau. Disappointing

I was quite impressed. I read reviews where people complained about the slow service, but I did not experience that at all. I went on a Sunday, and the place was heaving! I was seated, and offered sparkling water while I decided. Within minutes I made my tasting paddle selection. Less than 10 minutes later, I was served. After 5 minutes, one of the waitresses asked if I wanted something, and I didn't. After 5 minutes another waitress asked if I needed anything. I then decided to order the jalapeno poppers. Not even 10 minutes later, I had THE MOST AMAZING jalapeno poppers! Another 5 minutes later, another waitress asked if I wanted something. They kept checking in, asking if I'm comfortable, or needing something. The service was quick, and the food was top notch!

Good food, but I personally did not really like the unwelcoming attitude from the guy at the entry. No greetings, nothing. Just had his phone ready to scann the pass like a robot.... we almost turn over as it wasn't really friendly approach. Otherwise, our server was awesome!!! Good on him to catch up the entry guy bad attitude!

We came here on the suggestion from my cousin after surfing at Muriwai. Great range of beers (and other beverage options). Despite being really busy the food and drinks were really quickly served with good service. The Jalapeno poppers were stunning! Lovely landscaping and decor. Obviously really popular- we struggled to get a park. Perfect place to stop for a beer after surfing at Muriwai or mountainbiking at Woodhill. Enjoy!

I went to their Riverhead location with a party of 4, and we had a great time. The semi-outdoor space was aesthetic and expansive. The food was excellent - we all had pizzas, jalapeño poppers, and chunkies - the service was excellent (our server came by just frequently enough, made recos, and always asked after us), and the beer was really good. Will definitely be back.

Their beer is pretty good. Not the best. The food is good. Seems rather than put the price up they’ve cut the serving size. Too expensive. Need to get real.

Never been there before. Was impressed with atmosphere and ambience of decor as soon as i crossed the threshold. We were lead to a table that was extremely close to another and not having a "bus" voice i asked to be moved where I didn't have to filter what came out my mouth. We ordered entrees & 3x Test Paddles being eager to try some new beers. Our entrees came out literally 2mins after being ordered!!! Talk about fast. Our paddles took a little longer bout another 5mins which was understandable cos this place filled up pretty quickly so orders wouldve been flying in. Our mains came out relatively quickly despite how busy they were - impressive. Entrees and mains were bloody delicious. Service was great so I left a tip. Apart from the tables on the other side being so close together its fine if you have a bus voice. Btw people brought their dogs in and staff brought water - quaint.

Beautiful outdoor area. You can have a beer there and then fill your 1L bottle up and take it home for around $12! Great deal!

A great range of beers and was rather impressed by the variety of mulled drinks. The Biergarden was bustling with lots of dogs, children, families and groups - a relaxed, casual, family friendly vibe. Great spot for a long lunch. I would recommend making a reservation as it was quite busy (we had made a reservation online so didn't need to wait, but there was a queue when we arrived). Standard pub offerings on the menu (which were satisfactory but nothing special).

Another great meal at one of our go to westy haunts, always a good sized beautifully cooked meal. Since covid 2021 some other well established venues in the area have reduced portion size, not these guys. Also would like to add that rivedhead is twice as good as the clevdon spot.

Fantastic establishment tucked away in Kumeu. Dog friendly as long as they’re on a lead. Child friendly they even have a playground out at the back. They have amazing beers and the food is great. Try the Jalapeño poppers if you’re brave it’s kinda hot and has a kick.! My fav! Service can be kinda slower when they’re super busy but that’s a given, otherwise awesome place!

Always love coming here. Always good service! It gets VERY busy and parking is at times a challenge, but I feel it's worth it. The food is delicious and the live music adds to the ambiance. Inside and outdoor seating, dog friendly too! For the young kids, there is a pretty sweet playground to keep them entertained. The dishes below are: (both these are a must!) Braised beef Krokets HFC - Hallertau Fried Chicken Drink: Granny Smith - Apple Cider (If you like an offdry style apple cider, this is a goodie!)

This is a great place to drink good beer and decent food, on the weekends they have live music which is great but there are lots of families with kids so not so relaxing. Nicely decorated and displaying gorgeous plants. I’d like to check it out midweek, I bet the atmosphere is better.

Hallertau brewery out west is super chill place to down a few glasses of craft beer and have some delicious food. What I love about this place is the amount of space they have, lots of open spaces, lots of tables, huge bar area, and a playground out back for the families with young ones. You get lots of choice when it comes to beer, and the food is pretty delicious too, it's not super amazing but I think you'll be wanting to come here for the environment and the atmosphere, which is top notch.

It‘s a nice beergarden but the food is not crying out good, just average and looks below average. Selection of drinks is kind of weird as well. For a catch up with friends ok, nothing beyond that.

The food is really good here. Decadent deserts. Decent range of beers as well. Unfortunately the service is a major let down. Very long wait times even off peak. During peak hours it's extremely busy. You will be hard pressed to find a table if walking in without reservation. Car parking can be a major hassle too.

The quality of the food, space and ambience was pretty good but service needed a bit more work. The staff were taking orders one person at a time and would just walk away. A tasting platter of beers was orders but there was no marking indicating which beer was which number. And finally when paying the bill, the staff member looked rather inconvenienced. Bit of a shame since it's such a family friendly environment but the staff need training, payrise or a hug... Sheesh!

Hallertau - had tried it in the store so decided to try it at the source 😀 We ordered the Pilsner steamed shellfish ( mussels and clams) with garlic butter and crunchy bread. Also ordered the foiled baked carrot salad with lentils. On the way over with the food the waitress accidentally dropped a small piece of bread but immediately left and replaced it with a whole baguette. Pretty good customer service in my opinion. My partner really liked his shellfish. The garlic butter was good without being too strong and the bread very fresh. It felt like the carrot salad contained a full bag of carrots which were just cut in half lengthwise. A bit much for me, I couldn’t finish. The lentils were tasty and the tahini maple dressing added a subtle flavour. We washed the meals down with a couple of beers of course. I wont bother to say which, try them all if you can. Sparkly water is served by friendly staff and they have a lovely outdoor area. Tip: don’t cycle there from Auckland. Not an enjoyable cycle back after too much food and beers

I've been going here ever since it opened. Even before that when it was Glennies. The beer selection wasn't great, back then. I remember they bought pilot Bay brewery up. That worked for a while until Steve bought it (?). Then things started moving fast. Service is good, they are organized mostly. Beer and food is good. Atmosphere is good. Don't bother with the Riverhead tavern if you want good beer.

Good atmosphere, menu and wine list. Excellent beer list and beer tasting board. Food was above average but not by much. Good pub grub! It beats me why you can't get a comfortable seat though. I guess they are after guest turnover and don't want you to settle in. If you have a sore back give it a miss - you won't last the distance. Otherwise well worth a visit even if just to taste some great beers.

Efficient service, provided great advice on food/beer choices, and bloody great banter... definitely represents the "brewery atmosphere" the best compared to your other staff. Arguably the best place in Auckland for a good meal with decent beers. We tried a decent selection of beers, none disappointed, we even bought a few bottles to take home. We went for a late lunch on a Friday, and did not have any service delays as the venue was pretty empty. We ordered the pear and pancetta pizza, the Hallertau Fried Chicken and the Miso Coleslaw. We were highly impressed by the quality of food, esp. the fried chicken. We did not find any of the food we had too salty (which is in a lot of cases) and they were delicious! I would highly recommend going there when it's not super crowded and trying those menus.

Just had a lovely lunch platter that was definitely enough for 4-6 people with a great selection of yummy fresh food and flavours. Our 3yr old very much enjoyed the playground. We all loved the lay out and gardens, was a really nice place to hang out for a while. We didn't drink any liquor but the beer selection looked really good and they have paired them with items on the menu which is great. We we're impressed with our iced coffees probably the best we've had. We also enjoyed the company of the owners dog that came to say hello and were impressed to learn that diners dogs are welcome to come also. Really impressed highly recommend going there :) thanks.

Changed a lot in the last couple of years, I wasn't previously much of a fan although I've always enjoyed their own beers. However the new layout is fantastic and the staff work over and above to make you feel welcome. food price is creeping towards the higher end but you get what you pay for,big portions, creative menu and fast service. Also craft beer is cheap. Keep up the good work guys

Really nice place, good food, sometimes pricy but good quality. Nice options of beer to try, nice atmosphere and suitable for kids and pets. Bathrooms could be upgraded if they cleaned them more regularly and checked they had toilet paper and the water sensor worked. My mom was left with all the soap in her hands unable to wash her hands and there were so many people waiting she couldn't wash them in another bathroom.

Great pub for a lunch stop. Nice range of home brewed beers and the option of a tasting paddle so you can try several of them. I had the beef burger for lunch which was good. Staff are friendly and the food came relatively quickly considering it was a busy on a Sunday lunch time. However, it can get very busy and car parking is limited.

So many good points, some not so good....negatives...a couple of the waitresses, one in particular always looks like shes in mourning, or really dislikes her job...and its not just us, I watch her at all the tables and many patrons struggle to cheer her up, someone needs to send her some smiles...I tried....alas no. The food is pricey and portions small, you literally get what you order...no sides/veges nothing so your belly rumbles hour later....and then the but.....the positives....the taste of what you get is great! Most of the staff are friendly and go out of their way to provide phenomenal service. The lady I always see in the kitchen who greets my dogs wins me every time. Now her service needs to be bottled and sold. Service is quick. The ambience is great, everything is top notch clean, a playground for the kids, dogs welcomed, just a lovely feel....and the beer...well, the brew is just to die for, especially when the atmosphere is so relaxed and calm. Been a few times and will certainly go back for another brew! Just make that Damn waitress smile....please!!!

We went to Hallertaus to enjoy a birthday lunch for my twin sister and I however, what we experienced was not a great one. The last time I went to Hallertaus was in 2009 and I loved it so it was my idea who suggested Hallertaus for our birthday this year. The place still looks incredible and the atmosphere was pleasent although the service of your staff needs alot of work. I don't like the fact that we had 4 different waiters to serve us at our table and we had to wave them down if we wanted another drink or to check when our food was coming. Not once were we asked if everything was good. What made it even more dissapointing was near the end one waitress took our orders for desserts and coffee's and we waited 40mins only to be notified that she hadn't put the order through. Overall, a little disappointed as Hallertaus has the potential to be an amazing spot to eat and drink but I wouldn't return as the service from the staff that day has ruined it. I would like to point out that there were one or two waitresses that were excellent.

The atmosphere is great as are the staff and beer - however the burger night was a bit of a flop. $24 for a burger and beer turned out to be a dry, mostly flavorless burger and only a half pint of beer. The advertising in that regard was misleadingly. I'll be back - but just for the beer !

Went here with a friend today. We got there about 1pm and it was pretty packed. The staff were very happy & efficient. Wait time for mains was about 40 mins at the time and they told us within minute after we were seated. We just ordered some shared plates, Braised beef crokets, Jalapeno poppers & the Charcuterie platter. All of it was great. Beyond expectation. Beers were good too. Nothing is really crazy flavours, just good beer. Some less common ones to try too, like saisons.

Made a booking 3 days out and had our table ready. Quiet and loved the whole layout of the brewery. Having at least 13 years experience in Hotel hospitality and F&B industry I came in with an open mind and my family. Loved the food menu and drink menu layout. Not to mention colouring in sheets for the kiddies while our drinks and food order was taken by our lovely waiter. I ordered 3 Shirley Temples (Sprite & Grenadine) and did not come out. Had floor staff bring out drinks and food and yet no one noticed that I did not have a drink or the kids?? If you do take a drink to a table of 5 might be best to ask if we have drinks to come or even followup? Be mindful floor staff that sometimes when you talk about your collegues about a customer error that someone may very well be hearing this. However for me a genuine apology goes a long way and that was what made my night....communication is key. So in the end I had order 4 LLB (Lemon, Lime & bitters), a Mr Yakamoto Rice Lager and a tasting paddle. For food we order 2 FNC and 1 Chicken burger our kids loved it so much we had to order 2 more FNC. However no one had asked if we wanted tomato sauce (our kids love tomato sauce) until their plates was almost finished. My daughter however would not touch her food until the sauce came out. It was hard to get the attention of any other floor staff no one came to clear empty glasses or even make conversation. Most times I asked for the attention of staff to ask for follow up on drinks and food. Perplexed on the order the food and drinks came out. Fashionably drinks first, kids meals and entrees, then mains. We had ribs, braised lamb leg and hapuka rissotto. I would have preferred the fish skin still on it as us islanders love our fish. We also got the Charcuterie board but was missed accidentally but had it after the mains and even though we gave feedback on its presentation we were satisfied. Even though our first time was an interesting experience it will not be the last. I have faith that from this visit onwards the service and food become as reputable as the lovely brews.

Service was attentive, whilst not being too overbearing. Will be busy on weekends I’d imagine but it’s pretty relaxed, so we didn’t mind the wee wait for a seat. I would love to be able to get a tour of the brewery, I think you need to book this in advance and have a larger group of people. You can also stock on some yummy beers to take home too.

The first brewery I've ever seen with a children's playground! That should say enough about their family-centric views. Heard about a colleague's son and their high school jazz band playing here a couple of weekends back, and it was the perfect excuse to come. First thing is that parking is very scattered all over the place, and very busy all due to this brewery (and now the new neighborhoods popping up around it). Fabulous outdoor seating areas with both a bar and table service; love that a few of the tables are really long too to encourage sharing a pint with strangers. The toilets inside are a little hidden and the inside bar is also quite hectic due to its thin walking path.

The Kekule's Dream says on the can: hazy shade of IPA, with notes of juicy tropical fruit cloaked behind a veil of oats, wheat and barley. We tested this opinion and found that it was so accurate we could state this fact in the High Court. Once tried: now dreamt.
