Great service as always Ridge and the team treat us like family. The food is amazing We had seafood basket, burger and chips and chicken fettuccine delicious

Just a quick stop as we were driving through Rotorua. I grabbed a plate of fully loaded wedges. Pretty bloody good, and a massive portion. Washed it down with really nice Guinness which can be hard to find. Usually stop at another pub nearby but think I'll give this place another go. Recommend you try.

Great pub meal on a fine evening with great staff, good outdoor seating and meals to match: steak, liver & bacon, bangers, guinness pie, garden salad were all better than we expected. Speights cider was a great accompaniment, very like a beer.

Friendly owners that make you feel welcome Great staff that are not afraid to smile Delicous food reasonably priced with good portion sizes I especially loved the Irish stew,Bangers and mash and the Seafood basket. I've have eaten here and enjoyed the pokies many times and highly recommend a visit when holidaying in Rotorua Great relaxing atmosphere for both lunch and dinner.

I really wanted to write a great review. The lady who served us was super warm and friendly, the pub was a really nice location and the food was delivered in reasonable time—but the food let it down. Yes, it's pub food (which my husband and I really like), but there's pub food done well, and pub food done not so well. Alas, for me, Hennessy's was the latter. I ordered the steak (medium rare...and it was, indeed medium rare) with salad (which was lovely and fresh) and chips with garlic butter and aioli. I ate the salad first. There may have been a tiny bit of dressing on it, but it was hard to tell. It just tasted like I was eating a naked salad (dry). Then I started on the steak, which was on its way to being cold because they brought our hot meals out on freezing cold plates (my pet peeve!). The aioli was 'meh', served in a plastic pottle, and was, I would say, not made in house. The garlic butter was also 'meh'. It was that bought-in stuff that is really airy and doesn't taste much like actual butter. Anyway, I wish them well....nice people....but I wouldn't eat there again. If you're not as fussy as I, I'm sure you'll enjoy the food.

Highly recommend the pork and gravy Sammi. $10 value and yummy with crackling on top. Nice lunch menu.

2 Adults & 3 kids...We had a lovely family meal here on Boxing Day 2018. Very friendly staff met us at the door and escorted us to a great spot. The menu was easy to choose from...2 kids had the mini burger & fries which was actually normal sized and delicious. Our eldest ordered the chicken fettuccine which she gave a 5/5. I ordered the lamb shank which was falling off the bone. My husband ordered the steak meal which was cooked to perfection. Overall very satisfying and affordable. Highly recommended family meal. Thank you Hennessy's Irish Bar.

We find this Bar the best in Rotorua with a great old world but modern charm. We aleays visit on a trip down. The staff are so friendly making you welcome. Good range of drinks as you would expect always fresh Guiness on tap. The food menu has good variety from Chips to a full meal all realistically priced. Monitors around the walls showing current sporting activities & Pokie Room.

Nice place, good service. Very disappointed to be served a small thin frozen commercially produced chicken breast with some salad and chips for $25 which I thought was very expensive.

Went here for lunch last Friday and the seafood chowder was beautiful and the garlic bread was perfect. The $13.90 lunch deals are a great grab. Service was a bit slow but the wait was worth it. Thanked the chef on the way out. Its also a good thing to see the owner as well 😊

Beautiful steak mash and peas the deserts the bread and butter pudding and the bailey's cheesecake was top notch a wonderful time

Very good service. Had a lovely lambs fry and FINALLY bread/toast to wipe up gravy. Grand children had burgers which were perfect for kids with no fancy garnishes. Wife's steak looked prefect. Deserts looked large and very nice

Great place to go for some good beers and good food, plus the have a very fairly priced lunch special.They even turned on the NFL football game for me and provided great customer service.

As a chef on holiday went there tonight 10/2/2021,Guinness was cold and like straight from Ireland. And food was excellent, steak lovely and fettuccine delicious. And the publican an awesome guy

Service here was great. We came for dinner and wanted to have a couple of beers beforehand. The waitress was very understanding and made us feel comfortable without hassling us to order. Was a great night. And when we did eventually order the food was delicious. Lamb shanks were perfect!

The perfect Irish pub in New Zealand. The meals are traditional and delicious with the atmosphere and ambience we all love when going to a pub for dinner/drinks. Staff are all friendly, including the chef who came out to see how our meals were. Awesome!

Very clean and tidy while still maintaining the Irish bar feel. We were greeted at the front door and taken to the bar and shown the menu, had a tab set up and seated. The staff checked in with us through out our night taking our food orders and bringing us more drinks even once the bar had filled up. They were very friendly and had great banter. Will definitely return!

The Irish stew is well worth ordering...it was just like being home as a child..highly recommend. Also the portions are huge. Thoroughly enjoyed my whole meal.

I have been to the Hennessy's Irish bar on my past three visits to Rotorua and thoroughly enjoy going there. I like the laid back atmosphere, nice beers on tap and friendly staff. On my recent visit during the rugby world cup I was treated like an old friend and even being able to relax and read the paper too. Full credit to owner Reg and his staff and Do yourself a favour , if you are in town - check this gem out.

Came here after a day trip out and about down to Taupo. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. We ordered and waited while enjoying our refreshments. When the food arrived, we were amazed at the size of the portions. They are really huge! So be aware. If you eat like a bird, it may be best to stick with an entree or side order. The food was tasty and we left all very happy indeed. On a hot day it may be advisable to eat outside where there is some airflow. There was no aircon to speak of when we were there and it became quite stuffy. Otherwise, definitely recommend this place if you are famished and could devour an elephant lol.

It's a pub and the food is the usual pub grub. Something for everyone and the extended family were happy. Unfortunately there was only enough mussels for one person but the menu had plenty of choices. The staff were very helpful and friendly. All and all it was a good choice for a birthday lunch.

Tidy, open plan pub but with a cozy Irish feel. Great place to call in for a few drinks. Generous food portions - typical pub food, nice, but quite plain in flavour. Friendly service. Child friendly.

We had a really nice meal here. Food was lovely, very well priced and portions were a great size. Lots of sports on the screens too. Decor was stereotypically Irish as was the music which you expect.

Was met at the door by friendly service. Food was awesome, atmosphere was family orientated. If you want a big feed for money, this is for you. Kind and considerate people. We are from whangarei,waiotira where we have heaps of beef on the farm. Steak meal here was epic.

Loved the beef and Guiness stew. Huge meal and really delicious. Seafood chowder was great, too. The size of the meals was really generous. Friendly host and staff so a good all round place to be.

Irish pub and the expectation for great food is instantly heightened. Then to get TOP service from Aman was extremely satifying. I had the seafood chowder which was rich and creamy. Loaded with seafood and succulent flavours. Aman recommended the large as it is only a couple of dollars difference. I didn't even get half way and had to get the rest put in a takeaway container. My wife had the most tender and juicy lamb shank you ever could want. The meat just dripping off the bone. The mash potatoes and peas perfectly complementing the entire feast. And that it twas! All washed down with refreshing lemon, lime and bitters. To say we will be back is an understatement. Thank you Aman and Team.

Hennessy’s has very lovely staff, not a long wait either. The food is average though which is a shame. We came during lunch and got the fettechine and steak burger. Fettechine is burning hot with way to much cream and no seasoning. Would suggest maybe take a cup of cream out and add some flavour would absolutely change the whole thing, really lift those fresh ingredients.

Great old school vibe with reasonable prices and good service. We wanted a spot to sit and kill some time and this fit the bill perfectly. It was a bit dark feeling but that's more the traditional decorations than anything bad. Don't go in expecting a modern white interior or you'll be disappointed.

The service here was great and so was the Food.

Just ok, a bit dirty but the fish n chips were ok (just ok). If you need a quick bite and drink on your way to something nicer, it'll work.

I like a pint, they only sell pints if it's Irish beer... Anything else is schooners? But you can't buy a beer in a Guinness glass? I found this to be odd

(Translated) Unfortunately we were on the day of the "Loc down" there and at 1 p.m. the restaurant had to be closed. But the food and beer were great. The owner was very nice and sad because he couldn't keep his staff busy. Unfortunately our vacation was over there, but we'll be back for sure. (Original) Leider waren wir am Tag des "Loc down" dort und um 13 Uhr musste das Lokal geschlossen werden. Aber Das Essen und das Bier waren spitze. Der Inhaber sehr nett und traurig weil er sein Personal nicht mehr beschäftigen konnte. Leider war dort auch unser Urlaub soweit beendet, aber wir kommen wieder, ganz sicher.
