Great wee place. Lucky to have the sun shine on us while up there before it disappeared behind the building. Only 4 stars though as the deep fried chicken although cooked perfectly needs to be seasoned. The coating was good chicken itself was bland

Absolutely wonderful experience hosting our wedding at Foxglove. Kate, Esther and the team also went far above our expections to make sure our day was absolutely perfect. They have made the whole experience so simple to manage and went out of their way to have it just the way we wanted. The food was also top notch. Couldn't say anything negative about the whole experience.

excellent food. next time I will try the pasta. service very good the staff knew what they were talking about. nice ambiance over looking the water. really recommend an outdoor table, not indoor.

Had a wonderful dinner for Hubby's 30th. Our waitress Ally was a delight to had and made the evening 110%. Food was amazing and cooked to perfection. Couldn't find a fault with the food. Sharper knives for the steak would have been helpful but even with what we had the steak just melted. The coffee at the end of the evening was a let down, and didn't taste nice. Didn't finish it as I didn't want it to ruin my delicious dessert. 100% coming back

Our meal in wolfe was beautiful. Steak was cooked really lovely. Nice matching malbec with it. Staff were lovely, especially the French guy who was very helpful. It was a bit cold inside was the only thing but will definitely go again. Thanks for a great meal

Held a private event at Foxtail (Secret Bar) for a birthday party. The space was perfect for our seated dinner. The food and cocktails were absolutely delicious and the team at Foxglove all go out of their way to make sure everything runs smoothly and we had the most amazing time!!

We came here while visiting for WOAP and it was the best decision we made all weekend! Not only was there WOAP burger 'Bon Appetit' to die for but the service was excellent and there is an extensive cocktail menu. If you can make it here during August I highly recommend the burger and it comes with incredibly cooked bone marrow (not for the faint of heart) which you are given a shot of whiskey to pour through once you've eaten. Not just a meal, but an experience. A++!

Fabulous food and service. The death by chocolate dessert was one of the best I've ever had, truly spectacular. The steak was the simplest one on the menu with the Hennessy sauce and that was gorgeous too. Side of Mushrooms and char-grilled asparagus made this a very memorable visit for me and 5 friends. Note: I didn't eat the dishes in this order.

Nice spot on a sunny afternoon. Great range to choose from. Was confused about ordering process. 1 person serving tables, with 2 behind the bar. This caused delays with service. Almost 5 stars.

Food is excellent. Service can be a bit slow, we waited an hour and a half for our starters which wasn't ideal. I would suggest that for big groups, at least provide some bread so that people don't get too drunk or hangry while waiting for their food.

Just WOW!! Wolf really lived up to expectations for a special birthday dinner out with husband and friends. Our waiter was superb - efficient, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and it's "make-up" of different cuts, weights, marbling - all that meat stuff!! (I wouldn't recommend you bring your vege/vegan friends here though!!) Everything was cooked to perfection, the sides were a really generous size and the sauces delicious. We just had such a lovely night, it was bustling and busy but not loud. Very well done.

Foxglove was the perfect wedding venue for us. Kate and the team were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so nice! Food was yummy and the interactions leading up to the day were great, so responsive! Great venue to keep our guests protected against Covid too with a separate entrance and loos. Plus fully vaccinated staff. I would recommend Foxtail at Foxglove as a wedding venue in a heartbeat.

Perfectly cooked steak, exactly the way it was requested, and matched with great wine recommend by the friendly staff. All this after a couple of tasty cocktails, and a delicious bone marrow entree. 100% recommend Foxglove Bar & Kitchen.

Thought the revamped dining space at Foxglove was good fun and well executed. From the cocktail trolley to the whisky bone marrow chute, it felt like an experience rather than just a meal out. We didn't indulge in the extensive steak menu. What we did have was delicious and it is good to have something to go back for.

Brilliant establishment for dining. If you're lucky enough to score a 'First Table' booking? Or not, the food here is 'Top notch'. Thank you Zach for looking after us, you're great at your job. Fish, brilliant. Steak, done to perfection and the Death by Chocolate 20 out of 10! See you next time for sure!

Service was absolutely amazing! Our waiter was just amazing at her job, made sure we were good throughout our entire time there. The food was beautiful! Came out to our table so quickly we barely had to wait for anything! And the meat just fell off the bone like butter. Mmm!!

We rather adored this place. The service was beautiful, the food was amazing (the truffle Mac cheese 😍🙏) and the toffee pudding were just insane ! My partner and I had dithered about which WHG Venu to visit and this one was the best choice by far!

WOLF at Foxglove probably serves the best food in Wellington. Beautiful restaurant and the service is absolutely delightful. Please go try their in house aged steak and have a look at the desserts. I can't wait to go back. 🥰

Had a great afternoon yesterday at Wolf with three others in a booth. The steaks were all cooked superbly and the sauces, sides etc were top drawer. Zack our waiter was faultless and helped make the occasion very enjoyable. Glad to see it starting to get busy at lunch there too! The only neg is the wine list. For a restaurant which has been modelled on the NY Steakhouse style I would expect to see an extensive list of reds namely Cabs, Bordeaux blends ,Syrahs, Shiraz and Malbecs. The NY joints I've been to have whole pages dedicated to just Cabernets for example. A cellar list wouldn't go amiss either. Am sure this is a work in progress and once sorted it will get that final star in my book!

Good food, great location and good staff with plenty of offers of help from standard drinks to the fancy cocktails. Love the various different areas, from upstairs outside, inside, the restaurant downstairs, to the various different bar games on offer. I'll be back!

I feel bad that we didn't review the best steaks we've ever eaten in Wellington (months ago). We walked away and told friends but didn't comment online. Foxglove steaks are up there with the steaks you're served in Capetown. I'm not sure if it's the rub, the cut, or the chef. You're the BEST!

Good in house service, and amazing food. It would have been a 5 had it not been for the awkward moment we had when booking. We called in at 5pm, and were given the voicemail, so we left a message asking to book at 7pm. No reply for almost an hour, so I rang back at 6pm, and was told by the woman on the phone whose name I won't give out that the restaurant was fully booked and they couldn't accomodate us (a table for 2), and on top of that, she had a bit of an attitude. Accepting we couldn't get a table, and not being too happy with the phone service, I hung up. No more than 30 seconds after hanging, the same woman called me back, now acting like a model of customer service, telling me "Hi, we received your voicemail and we have now booked you in". I'm not sure if she realized I was the same person she was giving attitude to. Anyway, when we got to the restaurant itself, the service there was great, and the food was incredible.

Lucy is absolutely a lovely host, she was nothing but over and beyond her job tonight I would definitely come back just to have her presence at our table again.

Located in a prime spot on Wellington’s Queen’s Wharf down on the waterfront, Foxglove Bar and Kitchen is a perfect place to while away a lazy evening over a few drinks and a snack or two. The upstairs deck is a great spot to sit and watch the activity out on Wellington Harbour, and the seemingly endless stream of people passing by on the wharf walkway below. You might even see a stingray meandering along in the water beneath the wharf. With a large selection of beers and wines available, you are spoiled for choice when it comes to drinks. They also brew a great coffee if caffeine is your thing. The food menu has some great choices too. Try the Savannah Eye Fillet...I did: OMG! If, on the other hand, you are just in need of a snack to accompany your beverage, try the warm Sicilian Olives with some shoestring fries (avec Aioli) and a side of chargrilled squid. You can snack and sip to your heart’s content while another perfect Wellington day ends and the moon rises over the harbour. Perfect.

Amazing! The staff we some of the best that we have ever had at a restaurant in New Zealand, they really knew their stuff and their recommendations were awesome! The food was beyond Amazing!

What a great Restaurant on the water front to come and enjoy a great meal and drinks, enjoying the beautiful views and atmosphere. They have a great menu, very reasonable prices and the portions are big. What is great, you can choose to sit inside or outside and enjoy the exceptional views. Very friendly and helpful staff. I will highly recommend this Restaurant to all future customers to come and enjoy a hearty meal and be able to chill out and relax. Come out and support our local Restaurants and bring your friends and family and support them during the times we are all going through. There is lots of car parking all around the area.

Went for the WOAP event - Howlers at Hogwarts. It was a great atmosphere and heaps of fun

Had a lovely family dinner. Service was friendly and attentive and the food was fast, fresh and tasty. My son declared the wings the best he's had and the kitchen was happy to produce a non- menu dessert for my daughter. Highly recommend.

Great venue for private functions with lots of different and distinct spaces. There is even a hidden room with its own bar! On a sunny day, it's perfect to pop in for a drink and some snacks. Sneak out of the office and enjoy some rays. They will even give you sunscreen. Ocean views.

We went for dinner, food was amazing. However the special cocktail was a let down (mojito) as it was 90% ice. Our server was really nice and polite but couldn't remember the specials and didn't tell us when seated. Overall a good experience, would consider going back.

Nice place, really Tasty Fish & Chips, served quick. A little on the pricey side being $23.

Really nice pub to come to, plenty of seating ranging from big tables to super comfy sofas (lots of them). We ended up eating here and trying some of their burgers, the actual portions were a little smaller than I'd have liked, but the burger was delicious, the chips were really disappointing (too chunky and not much too them). Overall, loved the place and would definitely come back in future. Loved it.

Lively and popular place with a lovely view of the harbour. Popular with families and locals, rather like an English pub but with sea views and first rate food. The staff were attentive and friendly, even though they were busy. The pork belly was to die for.

Good dining experience for me and my wife. We went for an early dinner in December. Menu had a good selection. Waiter was friendly and polite. With a good understanding of the menu. We decided on the fillets for our main and they were on the money! Desert was a little slow to arrive. But on the whole very vibey and enjoyable night out.

Staff and ambience well presented and engaging. However, menu was overpriced and Disappointing. Fish and chips were seriously under par. The fish was encased in a shroud of thick undercooked batter, doughy and bland... thankfully the tartare was generously potted to one side. The shoestring fries were cold, over salted and un newsworthy, salad on plate consisted of a hand full of mixed baby leaves undressed and added nothing to the dish but filler. At best a 6/10... deduct a point for the price... Desert was listed as “pavlova sandwich”... A, I thought, maybe chefs talent lie at the more decadent end of the offerings... Sadly the beautifully presented desert was little more than 2 small meringues glued together sitting in a bed of crumble and a delicious scoop of ice cream engagingly nesting in an edible flower bed. $16 later... all up I spent $59 and walked away knowing a local fish shop could have done as well albeit wrapped in newspaper. Overall fair.

Foxglove have their own unique food and drinks menu that would suit a wide variety of customers. I really liked the customer service and the position of the building as it is right on the waterfront. A very special and unique place to spend an evening.

One of the best bars on the Wellington waterfront to visit if you are in the city over the summer. Pop in for an afternoon pint and chill out on the deck overlooking the harbour (hats provided!) Book out the top floor for a function or work party and enjoy a great selection of dinner options.

Not a bad little spot would go again and try a sit down meal as we just had lunch from the bar. Service was prompt and the food was pretty good.Kaarge chicken burger was solid and simple but had good flavours. Chips were good too. Could have been slightly bigger when compared to others but was still reasonable. Good venue with lots of options for seating, would go back.

The staff were friendly and service was wonderful although i waited 30min for a cosmo and even though i ordered chicken wings it took about 30 to 40min to be served. All in all though the experience was pleasant and i would return.

Have had bad experiences here before but much better this time. My Thai beed salad was tasty and my friend devoured her ribs! Great sitting outside on a nice day. Get in early for a Friday lunchtime table though.

I had dinner here with my fiancé, just after I proposed to her. I had pre-ordered our meals, and had asked for a window seat, and drinks to be there when we arrived (because we had a late dinner). Everything was perfect. The drinks were there, the food arrived shortly after we arrived, which was perfect, the quality of the food was absolutely spot on (we ordered the Lamb and the Pork). The service really stood out to us. The staff were incredibly personable. They were polite and professional (hard to find these days), friendly and absolutely wanted to make sure that we had a great time. I had informed them that we just got engaged just prior, and they gave us complimentary bubbles which was another very nice touch. I have been to Foxglove quite a number of times, and will continue to go for a very nice fine-dining experience. A very big thank you to Lucy and her team, and Tash our waitress, and all the other staff members who made our night very enjoyable.

Best food I've ever had at a restaurant by far. Cant believe the chefs could get so much flavor in each dish. Made for a brilliant new years eve. Keen to go back.

After several recommendations from others, we had our wedding anniversary at the Foxglove (in the ballroom function room) with approximately 50 guests. The foxglove staff were exceptional in ensuring our event ran smoothly, the food presented was excellent. Lucy the event manager at foxglove was just terrific in planning and implementing our event - nothing seemed to much trouble. We couldn't fault anything - the night was perfect and definitely exceeded our expectations. Top marks from us!

Duck, lamb, steak, all good. Larger craft beer selection(IPAs), tomato sauce with fries, just the little things would get you 4 stars

I love this place. Infact one of the finest places for small/medium group gatherings. Lobely staff, Amazing Space Inside the the bar and even fantastic outiside deck with beautiful harbour view. Decent variety in drinks.

Glorious setting upstairs when the weather is good. Great vibe for relaxed get-togethers. Foxtail bar area has regular live music. Bar snack 'rosemary polenta chips' are amazing!

If you want a great place for a dinner for two, Foxglove's restaurant offers an intimate dining experience with a great view of the harbour. The dinner menu is fantastic with the market fish and eye fillet steak being superb (kudos to Fred and the Kitchen). The maître d' Libby and our waitress Erin made sure our experience was truly exceptional. If you want an overall great dinner out, then I can't recommend Foxglove enough.

Really good food here. Sits right on the pier so before or after you eat you can take a walk and catch some amazing views of the harbor. There is also a place just across from the restaurant that rents kayak's, skateboards, Rollerblades, and bikes. Great atmosphere.

Excellent deck to have a drink and/or meal on and watch the city wander by. Great cocktails, nice wine list, a few interesting beers and good service too. Well worth a visit, or two.

Nice space with a good view from the top floor. Join their loyalty program for discounts and freebies. The deck is one of the best places to sip a beer on summer evenings in Wellington. Drinks and food is slightly more pricey than some of the inner city bars - all of their menus are online if you want to check them out before popping in.

Foxglove is one of Wellington's hippest bars. It's a great place to meet on a weeknight for drinks, dance and do shots on the weekend and chill out at on Sunday afternoon. The restaurant also comes very highly recommended, although I haven't dined there personally. Friendly, attentive staff.

The best steak ever.

We had our wedding at the Queenswharf Ballroom/Foxtail cocktail bar at Foxglove in May. Lucy and her team did an amazing job of setting up the venue, coordinating the day and taking care of things we hadn't even thought of. Staff were bubbly and positive, the venue looked great and we were really impressed with the food. We are really happy that we chose Foxglove as our wedding venue.

We had an awesome lunch here at Easter with family. The food was amazing for all 8 of us including children. And great games for them as well.

We had our staff party over there and it was a night to remember! Their facilities are spacious, the staff friendly and helpfull. There was a Dj playing and as the place is not so crowded so we could have a great banter with the right amount of privacy! Well done, Foxglove!

The most recent visit to Foxglove was unexpectedly busy. I was highly impressed with the attention, service and speed provided considering they were understaffed. The hand cut fries, tortilla chips & burgers were delicious and the drinks were made quickly and were yummy too. I would definitely enjoy another Sunday lunch at Foxglove!

Met friends here for a autumnal drink, and had a lemon meringue cocktail. Wow! It was delicious and kept delivering the flavour with each sip. Great view upstairs too.

This place used to be top of the list for dock side, but the price is way too high, the service below average, especially when busy and the food is awful. The redeeming features are that the views are to die for and it can be quite cosy. Be prepared for the snobs and the money to head here, even though the floors are sticky. Don't order the platters. They are especially revolting.

Nice place for a wedding or to catch up with friends and family

Nice upstairs space for a view of the harbor. We ordered the vegetarian burger and mushroom quesadillas. The quesadillas were good, but not a large portion. The burger was average for a veggy burger. And what is up with burger buns in Wellington? Every place we have been serves burgers on these buns that just completely fall apart half way through eating it.

Wasn't quite my cup of tea. The location and decor was nice but the food was just a bit meh. The description in the menu sounds great and looks good on the plate, but doesn't quite deliver.

Mainstream crowd-focused, best visited during daylight hours. Friendly bar staff are quick and efficient with a pretty mainstream beer selection. Foxglove's liquor selection is worth the visit, especially through the bar's wardrobe and into Foxtail, where the whisky selection is a treat to behold. Alas, Foxtail is almost always booked out on Fridays and Saturdays for 21st Birthday parties - so only bother for a cheeky mid-week nightcap.

The food and drinks were good! Service was average as they were understaffed, so everything took ages.

Great food, service also good, good selection of local wines and other drinks. Plus open and serving til late, unlike all the other places nearby which say open til late but close their kitchen at about 8!

Beautiful view and nice food

We visited Wellington for our wedfing anniversary weekend and were pleased to find ourselves in Foxglove on a Friday evening. Being a fan of proper beer, I loved the Macs Three Wolves, and we decided to try the restaurant. I had the lamb and my wife the Venison. Wow. Both dishes were out standing, tender and succulent. The evening was as all the better for excelent service from Amy, a French waitress, for whom nothing was too much trouble. We were so impressed we returned on Saturday, this time I had the venison and my wife the pork belly. Amy was again charming and attentive. The whole experience made a special weekend exceptional. The only downpoint was us having to return home on Sunday. Merci Beaucoup.

Parts of it have a cool atmosphere and it's great when crowded but for early drinks you'll not how much of the façade is poorly maintained and cleaned. Good drink selection.

Foxglove's location and layout give lots of advantages, yet it always feels soulless to me: something about the hard, echoey floors and the inadequate lighting.Staff are always polite and efficient, and drinks range is good.
