I give 3 stars because the service from the young lady was great but the pork belly dish was awful. The small size of pork on the plate was dry and the crackling was so hard and rubbery, I have great teeth but they couldn't even cracked into the rubbery pork skin. The Thai salad didn't even taste like Thai, it was salty and shouldn't be named as Thai salad. This could be just a bad night as the restaurant was full but there are other places that can do better pork belly dishes with better crackling.

Really nice venue and great location. The meals were not that good really priced around $30 for a main but not up to what you would expect for that price. Service was fine, prompt and efficient.

We didn't realise when we booked, but it was steak night tonight. The three of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The steak was perfectly cooked. Enjoy great service too!

Great service and food! We booked in advance for a large group and they were very quick to respond and help us set up our booking. I really appreciated the check-in's the day before to ensure they had everything they needed for our visit. We look forward to our next visit.

We had a great time. Delicious food and coffees and attentive staff. What else could you wish for? Ah yes, beautiful setting and atmosphere. All there.

Very friendly local pub, generous food with a slightly Indian theme, though the flavours play it safe for Kiwis. The staff here are always willing to try and find space for you even if they're really busy. We arrived 10 minutes before lunch ended and the chef was totally happy to keep the kitchen open till we were served. Carpark very handy, though usually full. Great community engagement with their Sunday night charity quiz.

Another pub another burger, mad dash to get another burger in for Wellington On A Plate. Good place for all the locals as it appeared there were a number of regulars drinking and eating when we got in. Popular place in the evenings so you may have trouble getting a carpark. From what I could see it might be tight for a wheelchair to get in?? Service was quick, friendly and polite. As for the burger it was great. I would definitely recommend the Trading Company and will be going back there again.

Nice place, good service at the start of evening that declined to inattentive service at the end of the evening to the point we ordered drinks and food at the bar. Staff nice, helpful, just busy and not quite enough of them for the number of guests. Average food, nothing wrong at all with it just good. All in all we'd go back but increasing staffing would let the busy staff provide better service.

Not sure how to provide a positive review... we came back to give ktc another go as we have had couple of poor experiences a year ago. We went last night for some drinks, curious to discover the bar had only one martini glass so other customers were served using champagne flutes. Staff advised that this single martini glass even met its demise during the evening. We don't like to single people out as we know times are tough, however your bar manager came across angry and aggressive towards your customers. Could have been a long day or bad night but she was just plain rude. We want to support our local establishments so hope this will be taken as constructive feedback for improvements. Martin

Local pub/ sports bar. Lovely sunny outdoor space. If you're not into rugby, best to avoid game days, there is nowhere to hide from the loud sports commentating. A reasonable range of tap beers and some craft beer options by the bottle. A cosy pub to retreat to on a Saturday night or Sunday afternoon.

I had the best hamburger in all of NZ here. We have eaten at several restaurants in different cities on the norrh island and this one wins best burger! The grilled Mango salad was superb too. Great service with friendly staff. Fast too. In and out in less than 40 minutes.

My table was a whopping 15 minutes late. Other than that wonderful steak with a beautiful glass of chilled gingerbear. Chips in the other hand were somewhat lacking both in quality and quality. Over all a very nice meal and a nice price. Seating and service were also wonderful

Good food and drink choices, but I always find myself a bit disappointed. It's close but not yet the perfect gastropub. Salmon main was very nice, burgers are good, but found the pork main to be quite underwhelming. Portion sizes a bit all over the shop. Desserts are nice. Pretty good atmosphere, and a good alternative to heading in to the super busy CBD on a Friday or Saturday night.

An enthusiastic but relatively inexperienced waitress but very sweet so we forgave the stumbles. Like giving us time to decide on a drink but then leaving it a bit long to come back. Small children there which might be a problem for some. Food was good. My rare steak was actually rare and tender. The roast potatoes were slightly disappointing as they were undercooked. My wife had Asian Salmon which she said was very nice. Beer selection ok but a few to many of the standard mass produced swill styles and not enough craft beers.

Great Steak, went there with family in October when in Wellington - we did book online, but when we got there were told they were having 'problems' with the online bookings and no table avail....a nice irish lady took charge and we at least got a table in the pub bit to eat at..not ideal with a 6 yr old however perched up like pigeons with legs dangling down and seats too uncomfortable to have a meal at, son in law roasted bottom on gas fire as squashed in too close so we didnt stay for dessert, they were busy and something had obviously gone awry but not a good look to visitors. Better luck next time

Grew up in the area used to come here quite often an really liked it. Been away, back on holiday, went for drinks an dinner to realise it hasnt changed in anyway an has degraded in khandallah quality. In the area thats its in a far better food an dining environment is expected. Feels like a locals pub in the middle of nowhere. A shame really. Three stars is an overall rating from me, just.

Hoping it was the timing of our visit (late lunch Sunday) but it was a long time waiting for our mediocre meals. The fries came cold, and serving sizes seemed a tad small for the price. There was a long enough wait between seating and having our order taken that we wondered if we had to place our order at the bar, but when the staff were attentive, they were friendly and pleasant. Would come back again to see if things run better closer to regular meal times.

My brother, his partner & I went tonight after a rugby game & it was great! Excellent food- I had the scotch fillet steak cooked rare + steamed veges, my brother had the scotch fillet steak cooked medium rare, & his partner had the lamb shanks- oh & we also got some onion bhajis- all of which were amazing! The service was really good, prompt accomodating & just really nice; & the atmosphere was really cute pubby feel with warm fire! All in all 5/5

Place had a nice cosy feel on a cold and wet Sunday afternoon but our expectations of quality comforting pub food were dashed with a bland mushroom pasta and a beef burger that was better but still rather average. Staff were attentive and friendly but for me, it’s all about the food.

Went for the pub quiz. Unfortunately the quiz master ran through the quiz in a rush. He often move into the next section with out changing the slide. Furthermore he would not advise which team got the ponderous puzzle question right or wrong at the end of each round, therefore mislead people to answer this or not. Food was excellent though. Very attentive staff who were very helpful with the kids and checked with chef whether Haloumi was suitable for coeliac sufferers. Came for the Burger Wellington burger and was actually surprised how decent it was. The problem for us came when we went to pay the bill. After about 16 burgers I had grown tired of fries and chips and had requested they substitute the fries for the mashed potatoes (which are the same price a la carte on the menu). The server had said there would be a "small charge" for it and I was happy to do so figuring it to be $1-2. They ended up charging $8 for it which was the same price as getting an actual side of the mash. When I explained that, a different server was very uncharitable with us and declared that the burger only comes with a small side of fries (it actually comes in a metal pail). So essentially then I was charged for a full side separately without being told and then had my fries basically kept off my plate. Kind of ruined my meal when you realise preparing a side of mash is probably easier than cooking fries a la minute. Also, our original server was running out the door as we were walking to her and I get that we're not amigos and that you're "off the clock", but you could acknowledge that you were leaving and that so-and-so would handle our check, but it was rather unnecessarily terse on all ends. Hardly hospitable. EDITED: I was reached out to by management via their FB Page and offered a refund and an apology. That's pretty decent of them. Revised from 2 stars.

We ventured a bit further afield than our usual haunts to try the Khandallah Trading Co. Lovely food, and good service. Almost as good as The Borough in Tawa (our favourite eatery), and with quite a different menu, so made for a lovely change.
