Friendly staff that quickly had us a table even tho we hadn't booked, tables are well spread for covid restrictions. Food was tasty, we thoroughly enjoyed the woap burger.

We had a really nice meal at The Hop Garden last night. The menu is more casual compared to our last visit 2-3 yrs ago, with lots of small plates to share such as arancini balls, falafel, calamari, pork belly skewers & fries with a really wide range of dips & toppings. The Hop Garden is a craft beer venue but as I'm not greatly into beer, I had a very good sloe gin with East Imperial Old World Tonic. Nice to see a good gin list & range of mixers. Food was very good; my partner enjoyed his steak with stuffed potato while the others had a succulent-looking stuffed chicken breast. I opted for vegetarian pasta (there's also a vegan option) with Jerusalem artichoke, mushrooms, rocket, spinach & roasted chestnuts. Overall very nice though i will say it was a bit odd having raw mushrooms in a pasta dish where everything else except the rocket was cooked; it would have been tastier with cooked mushrooms. The apple pie & cheesecake were scrumptious! Service was excellent & the wine list was small but interesting. We'll defo go again 😀

Love the decor, tap selection, and added bonus of the basic draft menu on the TV. To be honest though, it literally feels like the green house it is downstairs on this hot humid day, but upstairs in the patio overlooking the city it's cool and has awesome views for having a pint. Will definitely come back.

Really impressed with the current menu and new pub feel, we like the changes made. The staff are polite, well mannered and efficient.Food is delious, especially the pork belly roast! Yummo!

Great bar with nice selection of beers. Definitely more of a local bar vibe than many close by which is nice. Upstairs roof garden is a bonus.

Hop Garden is a real hidden treasure, they've got a great selection of booze and some really tasty food, really well priced as well. Staff are super friendly and very attentive, I've never had to wait longer than a few seconds to get served, even when it's a particularly busy time of day. It's just a shame I've moved now as I loved coming here regularly.

This is a very fine place, great service, good food, well made and thought out. The range is limited, like everywhere, but they deliver the good stuff.

Awesome place for a chill beer on the roof. Sangria and food was also delicious :)

Excellent service and above average menu. There’s a genuine French attitude to food and wine here, plus an ever changing range of locally sourced craft beers. The place is bigger than you’d expect from the modest entrance, with an upstairs garden bar as well as the spacious ground floor bar/dining area. Dogs are welcome in the bar areas and there are 2 unobtrusive TVs if you want to check out local and international sports events. The pub is closed on Mondays but you’ll be sure of a warm welcome every other day, for lunch and dinner, as well as a thirst quenching glass of ale.

Top garden was nice. Finger food was a bit so-so except delicious burger.

Nice cosy venue with vegan snack options to accompany beers. This particular night there was no background music playing so the atmosphere was a bit off. Otherwise a nice option away from the rowdy city night life

I ordered through delivereasy online. Fast delivery and the food was amazing. I had angry bird burger and I also order some fries. The burger was perfect and just the right amount of kick to is. Fries and aoli were great too, great deal for the prices and leftover for another day. Thanks for an awesome feed and experience

A large variety of different beers available. A fun place to be with great service.

Very good food. While not obviously child friendly, ie no children's menu, it was actually a great place to take kids. Staff were more than happy to split meals for our young boys, who demolished them. Comfortable set-up with good atmosphere. Great range of drinks and friendly service. One of the best gastro pubs in the Wellington region.

Fresh food with a lovely beer garden deck.

Food is great, eaten here many times and am always blown away. There is a good selection of small bar plates and the a la carte menu in the restaurant. There is an awesome selection of beer on tap with even more in the fridge. The wine menu also has some brilliant drops. I also love the glass roof, although in summer the roof top bar is the place to be.

Good service. Excellent range of beers. Stunning fries! Interesting layout and decor. Being outside the CBD, you'd have to be dedicated to include it in a bar-crawl. Easy access from the street, and the actual possibility of parking nearby.

So glad to have visited The Hop Garden while we were in Wellington. The bar staff are fun and knowledgeable and gave us great beer recommendations. A very cool rooftop setting with a cosy ground floor bar too.

Great place in summer and winter. Now it's getting colder the fire downstairs is lovely to be near. When it's warm the top bar is a great place to be. Excellent beer choice, friendly staff and good food. One of my favourites!

I really enjoyed my visit to the Hop Garden. We went on a beautiful summers day and say upstairs at the roof top garden. It was well shaded from the sun but still allowed a beautiful breeze to pass. The service was friendly and efficient. Inside it had a neat cave type feel. They also have a great snacks menu

Really great little place serving a good selection of beers, wines and spirits. Their Riesling was incredibly sweet, so changed it for a dark beer. They also have some nice spirits. We ordered a selection of tapas. All were great and good sharing size portions.

Nice place. Good with the summer sun upstairs. Very relaxed. Near KFC so the inviting smells drift to the rooftop bar. Gin bar upstairs. Went just before Christmas and a few people without shoes was not out of place. A little walk from the night life of Courtney place so a fringe bar to the city centre. Of what I saw of the dinner menu it looked good.

one of the few central bars that will make you feel at home. you can read a book quietly or drink beers with the locals whichever you prefer. free wifi on request and food available late. great service and atmospheric music. its a testament to the staff and management. thanks hop garden see you soon

Had a grabone voucher to spend for a 3 course dinner and enjoyed the overall experience. The dining area had a very classy but relaxed ambiance. Staff was outstandingly friendly, helpful and well-mannered which what made the experience for me. The food got to our table quite speedily and was a delight. Could do with some slight improvement on their desserts but that's being too nitpicky and is more of a personal preference. It did not affect the night though but would have definitely been perfect otherwise.

Held my sister’s 30th Birthday here - about 30 people. Great email communication and very accommodating. Reserved us a lovely spot and everyone commented on what a fantastic venue it was. Food platters were delicious. Friendly staff. A++

Have ordered two lots of lockdown Takeaways from our local, The Hop Garden and have been very impressed. Today's burgers were very tasty (although just a little cold) and the pickup was punctual. Will plan to order more and keen to be back to visit once you reopen at Level 2. Kia kaha, Hop Garden!

We ordered our first takeaways since lockdown from The Hop Garden after a recommendation from a friend and were very impressed. We ordered burgers, popcorn chicken and Jalepeno poppers and had them delivered. They arrived right on time and were still hot! Highly recommend the Cheeseburger and the Jalepeno poppers were my fav! We will definitely order from here again. Thanks guys!

Nice little bar that's conveniently right around the corner from Sweet Axe. Was here with a group and the catered platters were amazeballs.

Great craft beer bar with a great covered semi outdoor area to protect you from the sometimes harsh Wellington weather. Restaurant in the back of the building which I have eaten at on a couple occasions and been very impressed with. Great option for a few drinks and a causal meal.

An inviting place with a good variety of beers on tap. Pricey but still bearable. We had the ravioli which were wonderful, freshly made and cooked the right length of time. Very tasty and sooo close to Mike and maria's AirBnB that we will be returning. We did have good friendly service both by the table and bar staff.

The decor was rustic. I imagined as this establishment was next to KFC I would smell KFC. This was correct although not totally overpowering. I had the salmon and then apple crumble. Nothing to really complain about but it didn't wow me either. My friends also didn't exactly rave on about their total experience either. So now I can say I have been there but definitely not one of my first choices for next time.

Bar food not quite what it used to be here, now mostly fried offering & not plates/tapas style like they used to have. How ever burgers are nice & the dumplings are delicious. Nice atmosphere & our first pick before going off to our Tararua Tramping meeting in Montcrieff St. Good seletion of craft beer & wine. Open top bar is a nice addition, especially with the warm summer we've had. Still has the grape vine growing across the ceiling from the restaurants Theos Greek Taverna days. Good to see staff offer options for patrons feeling they need assistance in getting home/avoiding awkward situations if their date isn't turning out as they had hoped - that is really thoughtful!

Used a Groupon voucher here this evening. Arrived early, which didn't matter they could seat us anyways. Nice atmosphere, lovely American girl Sam, service and food was fantastic. Would definitely go here again! Eagle SIPA awesome!!!!!

Just got two burgers and a few sides delivered, first takeaways since the lockdown and i wasnt expecting much but it was amazing, the food was hot and extremely tasty, and the portion sizes were definitely worth the price, thank you hop garden!
