Food is very nice indeed just little bit dark inside might need a little bit of paint just to brighten things up abit. Woody's food is very nice price for food ( A1) not to pricey for amount of food you get I recommend the seafood fritters lovely

Scotch fillet steak was amazing and perfectly cooked. Fries are sooo good and crunchy. we went abit late in the evening which isn't recommended as it's pub time so the music was quite loud. Definitely go earlier in the evening unless you like the loud bustle of the pub.Staff were great. I didn't do full 5 stars just because I didn't like the flavour of the shrimp. it had a beer taste however personal preference my grandad loved it.

Popped into the KT for lunch. The Nachos were good as was the Awesume Steak Sandwich. The BLT was a bit dry, and upon giving some constructive feedback the Kitchen staff gave a complimentary voucher.

The best scotch fillet steak meal i have ever tasted cooked to perfection and the staff were amazing with perfect customer service skills lovely manners fast on their feet and kept us very well informed. But that steak oh delicious and perfect mushroom sauce that wasnt just flavored it wash real mushrooms and they gave us complementary eggs for being 2 mins late...seriously! Now that is real customer service i was so impressed and i recommend to everyone i know to eat here...its affordable and the portions are more than generous and of great value, you wont be hungry when u leave...i recommend the scotch fillet steak meal with mushroom sauce and choccolate cake pudding.

Very nice meal. Went there for my mates 25th had 20 people and did a good meal for all of us. Kitchen was abit slow but as to be expected with that amount of people ordering at once. Was worth the wait as the food was a good classic kiwi pub mean!

Food was OK. My daughter ordered the cajun chicken salad and loved it. Hubby ordered the the Calamari for a snack and side salad was very small. I ordered the special on the board king prawns and scallops and bacon. Was a bit of a let down. Rashers of bacon were whole and slapped on the plate. Prawns and scallops were OK. Would order the fish and chips next time and I saw other people had ordered it and it looked big and great.

Wow. Absolutely fantastic staff food and service, top quality here, pleased to help with assisting in anyway they can. We were a large group for a Friday lunch and everything was perfect. Best seafood chowder in New Zealand by a long way YUMMY YUMMY

Yesterday my family hosted a surprise birthday luncheon for my 96yr old mother and 20 guests at the Kensington Tavern. It was by far the best venue for a birthday celebration with (3) platters of assorted foods served on a metre board that was more than enough food for everyone; specially prepared at a set price; and containers provided for guests to take home leftovers. We were able to provide our own table decorations along with flowers and balloons and our own birthday cake. We highly recommend this place as a wonderful dining experience, awesome food and excellent service. Grateful thanks to all the staff and the Cook/s.

Drinks good and goid atmosphere. Meal was not good last night 4/8/20 scotch fillet steak was old and taste like it, they said they get it from Kaitaia (vacumed packed), the mushroom sauce was not good taste a little bit of mushroom no body to it. Chicken tasted plain not enought seasoning fish datter realy yellow not that nice and chips did not taste fresh. $82 for three poor meals. Oh well live and learn.

Best tavern in town if you're looking for no fuss food served by friendly staff in a great atmosphere .. Nothing is healthy but their large meals are cooked perfectly and promptly.My fish was very good and the chips were crisp,crunchy and delicious. Go when an All Blacks game is on if you want to watch in good company while having a,beer or two .Cheerful, fun, family friendly place with very good bistro type food

If you are only after a tasty delicious meal then this is the place to be😀. I posted up pictures and a video clip of what i ordered. My family including my self were surprised how delicious and well presented the food was especially as this was a tavern with a public bar pokie machines tv screens with sport playing and raffle drawing.

Spontaneously decided to dine here as craving a decent steak, ordered a sirloin steak meal (approximately $28) and was not disappointed so enjoyed every last bit of it. Service was prompt and atmosphere was that of which you'd expect from a pub. Patrons, TAB betters and pokie machines. Good old fashioned jug of Raspberry was A+ also.

We had a fish and chip meal to Share as it is a general generous serveing. The fish just melted I your mouth, so lovely, our compliments to the cook. The use of the Vacuum floor cleaner was not appropriate while people were still eating their meals. THAT WAS NOT NICE. DONT DO IT AGAIN PLEASE. Who wants top s end their had earned dollars and have to listed to a vac cleaner doing the rounds.

The Kensington Tavern has provided constantly good food for more than a few years. The menu is fairly simple, think big juicy steaks and classics such as fish n chips but the food is perfectly cooked. Notable service here just rock up to the bar and order from a good selection of tap beers and a small but decent wine list. This place is the model of the classic kiwi pub that many others could learn from.

The KT is a great local tavern with a reputation for incredibly tasty pub food. All meals are affordable and VERY generous in size, so don't be surprised if you end up going home with a doggy-bag. Good place for laid back socialising, with TAB & pokies available on site, as well as a karaoke machine. In my opinion the best tavern in Whangarei 😀

This is a pub with TV's dotted along 2 sides of the main room for the TAB races & sport with a separate Pokies room off 1 side. Some high bar stools and high tables with a few lower inset tables and bench seats along 1 wall. We go here once maybe twice a month because it has *excellent* meals and we can get a drink or 2 at the same time from the bar. Well patronised and if you have a group wanting a meal then would pay to ring and book ahead on some nights (toward the end of the week). Beginning of the week usually just walk on in and order and there'll be a seat.
