Great place, Friendly staff and amazing service. Food was cooked very well and was delicious. The Phat Duck is a great restaurant for families and catering young children. Definitely recommend this one if you're stopping by as the location is conveniently just off the main road.

A fantastic bar in the fantastic town of Ashburton. Stopped in for a quick drink but after noticing the food being served we decided to go for a menu. Food was absolutely delicious. Wish I had a photo of the food to show but I was too quick at eating it. 100% recommend!

First time visit this place. Good service, good coffee and my breakfast including two eggs, bacon, two harsh browns, one tasty sausage and two pieces of toast for just $12. Value for money. Would be good to have daily news paper. Will come back again.

Took my son out for a birthday lunch, they were training a new staff member that day and our order didn't make it to the kitchen, once they realized we were both still waiting for food to arrive they fixed the situation asap and handled it so quick and professionally, both meals were on the house which I wasn't expecting. Service staff are friendly, atmosphere cosy, food was great, we will be back for sure. Thank you 😊

Had a great night with a very pleasant meal, staff were great, our only niggles (a couple of the chips were only warm by the time they were served to the group) they were whisked away and replaced with fresh chips, no questions asked. The restaurant theme "Phat duck" turned up in intriguing ways in odd places. Enough to interest and amuse our group. Not fine dining but for the prices charged the food was interesting, well cooked and there was enough variety for all of our party to be well satisfied.

The Loaded schnitzel and BBQ por Ribs is heavenly! The burgers and the pizza bread is a must to taste. The ambiance and the staff are awesome. Over-all, a place highly recommended for everyone to visit and dine when in Ashburton!!!

Great place to have a feed and a glass or two. The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to accomodate our wee puppy which we had in tow. We sat outside with a dog bowl of fresh water. (It's the little things that make the difference). The building was a great venue, very clean and tidy. Obviously well looked after, which speaks volumes to me about the attitudes of the people running it. The food was great with a good variety of food. Some asain inspired dishes which was nice. We had the twice cooked pork belly and the chicken schnitzel. Both were very tasty and nicely cooked. (Compliments to the chefs). Sincerest thanks team. A great effort, keep it up.

We called into the Phat Duck tonight on impulse. Omg the food is amazing. Had the loaded chicken schnitzel, the chicken was beautifully cooked and tender the apricot sauce was delicious & lots of tasty chunks of bacon on top. The fries were hot, crispy & perfectly cooked. The service was pretty good too, so we'll be back!

Had evening meal at this bar. The bar and cafe service were excellent. Disappointed no cider on tap, although advertised on drinks menu. My cheese and bacon burger was a big feed, and delicious. My friends pork belly dish he thought on the small side, and bland. Garlic bread toasted one side only, and needed way more garlic. So, mixed experience. It's not bad, but room for improvement.

What a nice place with friendly and helpful staff. Decor was fresh and clean with a unique personality. Toilets were very clean and tidy, Bar facilities with TV's. We ordered the crispy dumplings for an entree, which were tasty,served with soy sauce. For mains; Crumbed Beef Schnitzel with a choice of mash or fries served with gravy, and a generous size Schnitzel it was, also the Duck Chowder this was rich and tasty served with I think ciabatta toast. Outside area's, easy location on SH1 passing through Ashburton. Worth a visit if your hungry or thirsty.

Was very impressed with my partners and my meal, splendid. The only gripe, don't like the word Phat, It reminds me of fat, lol. However, the service was outstanding, great atmosphere, beautiful decor, efficient friendly well groomed staff, and meal we ordered, New York Sirloin steak, absolutely delicious and well presented. There is nothing in Timaru that would match it in my view, outstanding! Will return!

Hmmm. What a funny place. The staff is very friendly, however the menu tries to be too posh when in reality the food is just pub food. The chocolate fondant was presented in a really fancy manner but cooked right through the middle, for example. Didn't really care for the atmosphere either.
