This restaurant was one of the few that were open late on Elliot Street which was convenient. The waiter was very attentive and the food was pretty good but lacked flavour. There were a few vegetarian options on the menu but vegan ones weren’t labeled clearly. One thing that was not ideal is that we were charged an extra $2.50 for rice that would have normally come with a Lo Han Jai (monk’s dish) at other restaurants. The price is also a bit too steep for a restaurant of this quality. Though the venue is quite nice the portion sizes and quality of food served does not quite match the high end dining prices. Actually the first thing I noticed was that this restaurant serves shark fin and the live lobster tank was at the front of the restaurant so right off the bat I was a little bit repelled. I didn’t ask the staff about these dishes so I can’t comment further on how ethically these were sourced. Normally I wouldn’t give 4 stars but all things considered this is the most accurate rating I can give.

Outstanding Restaurant! We have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years. We love this restaurant so much. The food is consistently delicious! We are treated like members of the family! The staff and owners greet us by name, the staff rarely change, they remember what we like on the menu. The best spicy Szechuan style salt and pepper chili dishes: squid, prawns and tofu, and mixed Chinese vegetable dishes. Feeds vegans and meat eaters alike. Great for little kids, families and fussy eaters! Converted our brother who was little Macdonalds Kid at the time to a Chinese Foodie! Highly recommended! A+

I have tasted and sampled food from various countries in Auckland but this one caught my attention, as it is considered one of the best Chinese eatery in the city. Located in the heart of CBD, this one I went is an extension to the fine dining restaurant tucked behind this food court facing joint. The mini joint is haven for someone looking for quick lunch and authentic taste of China. My review of the place: Oh boy! I am happy I made the right decision, the food was scrumptious 😋 and affordable( cuz it is part of the food court). I have changed my mind with regards to Chinese food (the ones I ate in Mumbai, India is Indian Chinese which caters to the Indian palate). If this is what Chinese food taste like, my next dream destination is Shanghai! (IF we overcome the pandemic ;) PS: The lady who serves there is absolutely courteous and knows the food business!

Have been hearing lots about this place, this is my first time actually eating here. Order some typical yamchar dimsum, honestly, not very impressive. I think the biggest advantage is the location so they have very good market demand during weekdays. Don't get me wrong, tastes good, just not impressed to me that's all.

Possibly one of the very few places open on Christmas Day. Typical Chinese joint with overworked and angry workers who couldn’t seem to care less about service. However, they do their job and that’s all. It took them 5 mins to notice our presence and another 10 mins to order. The 15% extra charge was clearly stated at the entrance which we have no objections. Had the venison ginger and spring onion (it was okay but lack of ginger), sweet sour pork (delicious crunchy pork but tad bit too sweet), veggie which was just greens anyway, sour spicy soup. It was more of the comfort food than anything else... I was super thirsty though after dinner. Drank so much water so I suspect the MSG and sugar used is really, really high. For that, I can’t rate them more than 3 (including the average service).

Decent place to have dinner, the Lobster is not bad. i am not sure about other stuff, i heard the dimsum is so so. Overall, the ambient is not bad, service is okay. The food we ordered were above average.

My mate booked this place for dinner and to our surprise we hadn't been here in all the years we've been dining in the city. Service was good as was the cleanliness. The food was very tasty but portions could be more adequately matched to price. It probably would be worth it if you went with a large group. We also didn't know that there was an option to BYO liquor so we're certainly taking our own alcohol next time!

We had yum char during weekday here. Bice place and good varieties of food in yum char. Yummy taste. Must Try their prawn dumplings!

Very very nice Quite expensive though. Yum cha is often expensive but this was a new level again. Ordering fom the menu though is great as every thing is freshly steamed, hot and delicious. A bit pricey, but we will go again, but order less.

Nice lobster noodle. Although not spectacular, other dishes were also good.

Very good Chinese restaurant right in the Auckland CBD. We picked this restaurant even though it didn't seem to have very high rating just because it was close to where we stayed & it was late plus the wet & cold weather. We had a pleasant surprise as both the food & service were very nice We tried the Szechuan chili scallops and seafood hot pot. Both were pretty nice and reasonably priced. It's on our list to visit again

A large group of us ate at Dragon Boat today for Mother's Day. We had someone in a wheelchair and the staff ensured they were comfortable at the table. Out table was very clean and the food started rolling out instantly. The staff were very nice and clearly under pressure as the restaurant was packed. We had a tonne of beautifully cooked food. The duck we had here is the best yum char duck we have had from any other restaurant offering yum char as most times it can be either overcooked or cold. We had a very pleasant experience today and our bill wasn't as much as we were expecting (I have been here before and it can be expensive). Anyway today was a great successful Mother's Day for our family. Thank you Dragon Boat.

What a lovely place in the town for yum-cha! The staff are friendly and approachable. Our family love this place. Best yum-cha ever.

Dragon Boat is well situated close to Queen street. You can easily park in Atrium. We had dinner on a Saturday night. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Portions are generous and food is delicious. We had the seafood mix, beef wide noodles and some beef from the chef's suggestions. It was probably some of the most tender beef we ever ate! I would highly suggest this place, and if ever we come back from Switzerland, we'd definitely come again. Thank you so much!

The two of us ordered simple dishes and soups (individual portions; no large bowls to share). Flavors were authentic. The crowd was mainly Chinese; the few westerners appeared to have stumbled upon here whilst walking along Eliot street. Definitely not cheap, may approximate those of the supposedly more upmarket Huami... but between these two, dragon boat is less noisy, more cosy, with fewer waitresses.

The food is pretty good, but you have to take into account that being in Auckland CBD, it is pricier, busier etc.

Amazing roast pork, been looking for something close to work. $12 roast pork and rice so amazing. Tried the BBQ pork and complete let down it's been microwaved tasted bland and left me feeling hungry. If only they did the BBQ pork the same as the roast pork

Slightly overpriced Chinese food of mediocre quality. Staff are autonomous and unfriendly. Eating here is still enjoyable though as yum cha is always a great experience. The location is convenient though, so will still occasionally come here

Food was amazing. Banquet for 2 could of easily fed 3 people.

Learn some Chinese. Good service, happy staff, brilliant prawn dumplings. The duck could have been glazed harder for my liking, and the spring onion sliced finer.

We've eaten yum cha all over the world and this place is as good as anywhere we've eaten. We've been here many times and have never had a bad experience with the food.

I've dimsumed from Hong Kong to Shanghai to Bangkok to Tokyo to LA to NYC to London to Paris, this is by far the most average I've ever had, but being the only place i tried in Auckland, it's the best in Auckland by proxy. Definitely nothing to write home about, it's all good but not spectacular. Then again i was just tickled that there's dimsum here in kiwi land.

This is a great Yum Cha place in the city, the food is always super tasty! Just keep in mind that it wont be cheap, we usually spend $100-$120 for 4 people
