The photos say it all. This is a once in a lifetime experience for your mouth. Every single thing on the Orjano is unbelievably good. Love the chilli sauce with the steak. Two of us shared the meal, we didn’t realistically need those fries.

Great food and friendly staff. Easy to find yourself relaxing and snacking there on a Friday afternoon. I'd recommend the chilli sauce with your steak. Chef and wait staff are very easy to get along with and are also quite accommodating to patrons. No snobbery at all :).

Amazing place. If you like meat you need to come here and try this Argentine - style bbq. We had the empanadas and pork chorizo as a starter, these were just fantastic. And then we shared the short ribs - perfectly cooked, and enough for the two of us as we already had starters. We will definitely come back. Also, great service! Thanks guys!!

Delicious food, the lunch special is particular good value, but everything on the menu is tasty. Empanadas are always a good idea :-D (There are one or two veggie options but this really is a meat focused restaurant, obviously)

Some of the best short rib in Auckland! Slow bbq style which means it is tender and juicy. My husband took the short rib and I tried the steak- wished I also took the short rib! Steak was average so I won’t be having that again. Did not have much taste and was very raw for a medium I ordered. Vibe of the little place was awesome- best to book a table in advance as they have limited space and the place is always packed! If you feel like meat- I highly recommend the short rib and their recommended red wine (can’t remember the name- sorry!)

It was our 3rd time visit. Always beautiful meat, prompt & friendly service. I particularly enjoyed their beef rib! You must try! Only thing I don't like is their stools arond the counter. Not comfortable sitting too long...

Where do I start with their review? It's a compact place which is designed well. The attendant was a sweetheart. Such a warm welcome with a smiling face, now who wouldn't want that? Their food wasn't something you would be blown away with but it was palatable. The food did taste very fresh. You would definitely want to go there often for their ambiance and the attendants nature. Also, you will receive a good hearty meal. You can find the pictures with this review; one is a steak and the other one is a pork. 🍖🥃

What's not to like about flavorful meat and bomb empanadas? Even the salad had it going on and I hate lettuce and any of its cousins. Portions are good enough to split, I highly recommend the empanadas and a BBQ meat dinner. And the wait staff was lovely, attentive and friendly.

It is a carnivore's paradise, Argentinians definitely know how to cook their BBQ. Everything tasted nice, things were cooked to perfection; neither too though nor too soft... The chimichurri is perfect match for meat.

Great place, first, the meat is of quality, really great done, a lot of flavour, more than obvious they have experience in this kind of business, the local it's inside a little mall or plaza, is small yes, but it compensate with the service and the flavour, the chorizo is tasty, the empanadas are great, they have a variety of beers and wines to complement the meat and even have recommendations in the menú, the have children menú and gave you Colos so the little ones can have a good time. I really enjoyed this place and recommend it. The personal speak English and Spanish.

First and first, this is my favourite out of all Auckland restaurant, why? Not to mention their food such a heaven, the mostly important is customer centric! They know how to service customer, caring, patience, they provide what you asking, ask, never ask you never get to know what you can expect. The eye fillet and the empanada that I had was really good, and the chimichurri with the salad was tasty. But the menu could be way better, I mean is called “Sizziling Chorizo” and you don’t get chorizo with the parrillada? Would be good if you can choose the 3 meats you want in your parrillada. Also the price of the empanadas it’s a bit too much for the size, and for the price you pay for the steaks it should come with fries too, I hope they at least think about this. Like I said, everything was very tasty so 3 stars 🙂.

I've eaten a lot of BBQ. This place is legitimately stunning. The rib is buttery heaven on a bone. The steaks were perfect. As was the wine. But be aware of the cost you may incur by following the wine accompanying suggestions. Totally worth it though!

Casual, easy-going place with menu for the meat lovers. We shared a medium rare Parillada (NZ$38) Portion is definitely large enough for two people. Flank steak was good, cooked to order. Chorizo sausages were great too. We only wish that there were more vegetable options on the menu. Honestly, we would have been very happy to substitute pork belly for a few tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers - greens provided with meat felt more of an afterthought. Pork belly was a bit too crispy and fatty. Verdict: Though in abundance, Parillada meat selections were okay for the exception of flank steak and sausages. We suggest to order either of those separately instead if you just was a tasty no fuss meal. Our friend had a steak is it was great. Otherwise, the place is pretty good and definitely worth a try if you are into meat and in the area.

In our opinion this is the best bbq steak place in Auckland. I don't even remember know how many times we were here. All of their steaks are very delicious, the staff are nice and prices are moderate (and their chimichuri sauce is amazing, goes really well with steaks). Definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes steaks.

I can't begin to tell you how amazing the beef rib was. By far the best I've ever had, delicious. The steak was also great and the meat platter(?) is too however they've lost a star as the second time I went they had just run out of the beef rib and it wasn't even 8pm (sunday) and the chorizo in the meat platter was really just a thick sausage and tasted nothing like chorizo.

An OUTSTANDING meal in Ponsonby Central!! My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and watched the meats sizzle in front of us, getting hungrier and hungrier with each pleasing scent of chorizo, steak, lamb and pork belly that passed out noses. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly, and we couldn't stop eating. We got the empanadas, chorizo, pork belly, short rib and lamb, it was quite the feast, all of it delicious!

If you are a meat lover this is the perfect place, no doubt!!!! Perfect spot for a really good steak and really tasty empanadas. My favorite is the Short Beef Ribs, absolutely outstanding, match perfectly with Carmenere or Cab Sauvignon (medium to full body). We did get harassed quite a bit by staff to order but we were waiting for friends to arrive. Great place for bbq meats but need to be in early for a seat as it is quite popular. We got the Short Rib and the Ribeye Steak special. Both were enjoyable, but the Short rib was a little dry around the edges as we clearly got the end piece judging by other people's pieces which looked thicker and juicier. The signature chimmichurri is always a good accompaniment.

Fantastic food. Perfectly cooked meat. Great with medical dietary restrictions. We have to avoid nightshades and egg due to immune intolerances. We had the spare ribs and pork belly. Just seasoned/marinated with salt, with a lightly dressed side salad. It was one of our easiest ordering processes ever when dining out, even though we forgot our food cards that detail our dietary restrictions to make it easier for the kitchen. We all felt very satisfied and happy after the meal. I would not hesitate to return and recommend to anyone who isn't vegan or vegetarian.

It used to be one of the best barbecue I've ever had. 2 years ago, I went here a lot and had a lot of amazing food during winter time. However, now , may babies is finally old enough and I come back immediately. The menu has changed and the taste is just average. And of course, it's no where as busy as it used to be. Went here for dinner on Saturday. We had the 2 sepcials, the Lamb, which was very nice and tender and the Steak, which was unpleasant. I ordered this medium rare as I always order steaks and it was instead blue. I can eat a blue steak, however the size of this and how thick it was made it less enjoyable. The under-cooking might have something to do with this steak being round rather than flat, making it much thicker than a normal steak. Despite this, I would still give them another go. I think 3 out of 5 is fair.

Got way too full eating a delicious Orejano platter here, but would do it all again. Everything was cooked to perfection, and it’s been a long time since I’ve had meat cooked to this flavour and perfection outside of Argentina. Will definitely return next time I’m in Auckland!

Honestly can’t recommend this place enough. The short rib is insane and the paradillada (definitely spelt that wrong) is so delicious. Also the empanadas, the bbq potatoes and the chimi churi sauce is so good. These guys crush it and it’s reasonably priced for the portion size. Really nice little eatery located in a picturesque alley in Ponsonby. Staff are very friendly, quick and provide great service. Food is top notch and no ill can be said of it. Serving sizes are adequate to fill a hungry stomach and there are plenty of sides to accompany your meal. The addition of approximate cooking times on the menu help steel your will for the wait of the meat and is a great feature. Place has a nice vibe and itll definitely be one you will be returning to sooner rather than later.

I used to love Short Ribs so much so I recommend my friends these place. I said it was the No 1 in AKL. It yesterday my boy friends and I went for dinner. The Short Ribs is small and extremely over cooked! And when we just finished our dinner, the waitress came to take away our plates, when I still had meat in my month! That’s not polite at all!

The short rib was divine but the pork belly was tough and chewy. The service was great but the mesclun salad needed a better dressing as it was swimming in oil and had no other flavour. Also the extra sauce tasted like parsley and lots of oil and it wasn't nice at all. Hoping it was just a bad day as I assume dressings are made fresh but perhaps someone should taste them before serving as i don't think salads should taste like grass and oil.

Just have read some negative reviews and really don't understand people who try reduce score of restaurant telling this place is not recommended for vegetarians. What you guys estimate or expect from restaurant which initially builds business on cooking meat dishes? It same like you go to beer bar and write review - it is not recommended ro ice cream lovers. Another guy wrote - too expensive. Sorry, but for $25- $35 you will never get so much meat and salad somewhere else. Maximum what you can expect from other restaurants for these money is full dish of rice or noodles with 100 g of meat. The cost of meat of higer than the cost of rice. In spite of this fact in this restaurant you will get a lot of meat and it is too much for one person. Many people share with somebody else one dish for $35-$38. I would like to to express my respectful to workers of this restaurant for so good meals.

Seriously meat, had the Parrillada (mixed grill of pork belly, steak and lamb) which was deliciously smokey, crunchy crackling and medium rare tender steak. Our teenager went with the chicken steak which with chips went down well. Certainly a busy pre Christmas Thursday night but they went out of their way to fit us in which was great. Beer on tap was boutique, tasty and unobtrusive, a good match.

(Takapuna)Food: Had the T-bone steak and the longaniza with Arepa shared with 2 people. Definitely filling and delicious! Recommended the sauces with any of the meat. Salsa verde is nice and mild great combination. Drinks: The cocktails can definitely be improved, would love something stronger and refreshing with soda.

one word. DELICIOUS. You can tell that the meat is fresh. It's not overcooked and the juiciness and they cookit in a way that they put less seasoning and the taste of the meat is still there. It's also nice to put a salad instead of a carb as the side dish. It balances out the fat from the meat. The chimichurri is Uhmazing. If you want a bit of carb on the side go for orejano. If you want to eat A LOT of meat I.e. beef pork and chorizo get Parellada although it is a big ration so just to give you a heads up. The empanada is great! If you wanna taste it it comes with Orejano but you can order it separately if you want. We've been in this place multiple times and it never ever disappoint. Sometimes it can be too salty but it is always balanced out by the chimichurri and the vinegar they use for the salad. If you want a smaller ration try the pork belly or the half chicken.

Dined here a few months ago and not sure if we came on a bad night or not but half of the menu wasn't available, we would order something and then they would come back and say we've run out and order something else, this happened twice. And when the meals came out mine and one of my dining companions meals were given to the wrong person, we had already ate most of our meals before realising. The food was juat placed in front of us so we assumed that it was correct. Food was good when I got the meal that I ordered, but for a place so expensive, I would have expected more.

Great place! Nice original Argentinian flair with the open fire place. The waiters are mostly Argentinian and do a great job. Have been here several times and it's an awesome place to go and share a meal with a few people whilst chatting along. And the price...SUPERB for the quality. Great authentic Argentinian cuisine, just the same as back in Buenos Aires! Only thing they're missing is the chinchulines ...
