My most favourite place for Mediterranean food in town. This place is such a gem ! From the tapas to lunch, dinner, desserts, and drinks, everything is so tasty and well made. I found myself keep coming back to this place over and over again, that’s just how much I love Mezze Bar. The atmosphere is nice and so does the interior design of this place. They have done very well in creating that fun, cozy, traditional but also out of the rule vibe. Kudos to the team and see you again soonish :)

Upon walking (well on crutches) into the cafe, I was made to feel welcome. The style of the decor was so relaxing, leaving me relaxed. The staff were friendly and very helpful when choosing what to eat. I chose a quiche which came with a salad, also a large flat white coffee. Quiche, was yummy, and soft, it woke up my taste buds. The salad dressing was exquisite, tantalizing and added to the flavor. Congrats to the chef. Overall, tasty food, great coffee, awesome staff, so please come and see and taste for yourselves.

We had our team dinner and the food simply amazing.. Right in the middle of a busy city, a hidden gem bar in Durham and you can find comfort in their Mediterranean cousin! I cant stop eating the chicken liver pate with crispy toast, just soo yum! Highly recommended!

I've been working, eating, and cafe hopping in the CBD for the last 7 years, THIS place is bar far my favourite. GREAT coffee and food during the day with a chilled out relaxed vibe, comfy seats, EXCELLENT staff and service. in the evening the place transforms into a romantic yet not intimidating (perfect for date night or a first Tinder date) restaurant with meals ranging from a burgers to delicately crafted tapas dishes. It's Turkish, It's Spanish, It's Mediterranean, I don’t know, all I care is it is delicious. Not cheap, More like mid-range but worth it . from the amazing home-cooked dishes to the oriental vibe, spacious lovely space, and great service. So if you need a taste of the Mediterranean - don’t hesitate and drop-in, you won't regret it. I promise.

First time in Mezze Bar and it was absolutely amazing, we went there on a Wednesday for lunch and it wasn't too busy, staff was very friendly and helpful. Came here on a Saturday for brunch. Food was absolutely delicious and well presented. There was a good mix of sweet and savoury dishes on the menu as well as some very yummy looking cakes in the display cabinet. Service was mixed depending on who was serving but overall, a very enjoyable experience. Definitely worth coming again. The coffee was really good too.

The cakes at this place have been bringing me back for yonks! Usually come here for a night cap or a night cap and dessert. When I do have a meal it isn't disappointing. Featured is the Mezze lamb burger and one of my favourites for dessert, chocolate buttermilk cake and the orange and almond cake. Mezze is a key spot for my friends and I. Go on and check it out! Love that they have white port and their tiramisu is to die for.

Came by for a congratulatory drink. They have quite a few options for both food and drinks. We ended up sharing a few carafes of the sangrias. They had red, white and rose and offer and we tried them all, my favorite was the white sangria. We also had a few tapas to share. The ceviche was quite fresh. I also quite liked the polenta chips although wasn't a fan of the feta dip. The patatas bravas was ok. Portions were small but I was already expecting that for tapas. I would be interested in trying their other dishes for dinner next time like the meat skewers. It was quite a comfy and relaxing place which didn't get too loud so we were able to converse. Only thing I didn't like was that you had to get up to order at the bar. We did book a table and had it for 3 hours since there was a booking after us.

A hip place with sophisticated food and drink, popular with city locals. Looking for coffee, I chanced upon Mezze Bar and knew I had to come back for the full experience. And I did. Everything was right - location (on Auckland's somewhat alternative area around Durham's St E, near High St), the atmosphere of a sociable 1930s salon, drink options galore, and enormous food choices including a massive vegetarian menu. It's a pity I no longer live in Auckland, as certainly if I worked in the city I would become a regular.

it is my first time to try Mediterranean food. Atmosphere is little dimmed with yellowish light. Menu choices heaps. Shame that I couldn't remember the menu as a friend ordered and I didn't see what they were. taste pretty good with toasted bread and pasto. Sangria was just perfect. Highly recommended.

Mezze bar is like the central perk couch in friends... our trusty go to for Friday night drinks, girlfriend pick-me-ups, birthdays and any occasion meet ups! This time we went and tested out their lemon tart and chocolate butter milk cake. Oh my - Devine. Moist, sweet but not sticky. The lemon is a light and delightful tart and the chocolate is a lovely creamy dream, will be back for the rest of the dessert menu! Edit - we went back for tiramisu and date pudding, mind blowingly good!

A good airy space to be in, refreshing compared to the urban street scape; a little slice of quiet. The food stays true to it's brand and many tapas to share over a coffee or cocktail. Definitely a good place to have a relaxed meeting or just somewhere to go on your lunch break and read a book.

Gorgeous food, with great, authentic European flavours. As kiwi tourists in Auckland we found it hard to find a real restaurant (rather than fast food), but Mezze totally hit the spot. Didn’t know until recently this legendary restaurant has been around for over 25 years✨– it is an Auckland institution with amazing food, delish dessert & great coffee👏. Restaurants like this are becoming quite rare, especially in Auckland CBD - these days they open and shut with depressing regularity... Mezze Bar is warm and has a relaxing casual feel - dropped in for a treat after having dinner nearby and found a little table next to the ancient windows that open to the street. Had their wonderful Almond Tart with a pot of Earl Grey tea which was great on a rainy Saturday night🌧. So peaceful & ohhh the crisp pastry and butterscotch-tasting almonds❣️The restaurant was surprisingly not that busy – probably the rain! Can’t wait to eat my way through the mezze goodness on offer😋…

Location is great and the space almost abundant, with plenty of natural light. The staff were friendly and purposeful and the food delicious! We had a range of things and almost my first instinct was - I want to eat here again (perhaps in order to sample the dishes we didn't choose!) Everything I tasted was satisfying on the palate and I could easily repeat the experience although we never tried desserts as we ordered too many plates for dinner. Highly recommended!

Popped in on a Saturday midday, was not very busy. Can't say that the staff took any notice of us, we just picked a table and sat for some time. Then went to pick up the menu as no one came to us. Ordered our food and decided to keep the desserts menu on the table for later to have with a coffee. However, a passing waiter just grabbed it and carried away without even asking :D so we ended up having our coffees and desserts across the road. Still, we did have meatballs and kebabs at Mezzo, both were quite good, so all the stars go to food :)

A big fan of this place. Went a couple of years back for the first time and have been several times since. Our most recent visit was up to the usually high levels of service and quality. Great spot to stop on the way to a night out for a drink and a snack. If you have a big appetite it can get expensive but good value for a bit of grazing.

It’s not cheap, $17 cocktail and $32 main course. But would go back for sure. This is a very tasty stop, and generous portions. What a cool place. Went for tapas with friends before going to a comedy show. Of the 6 dishes we ordered, it would be really difficult to pick just one as my favorite, but would probably go with mushrooms and chorizo. Good selection of beer and the Sangria was really nice. My husband and I went here for dinner. They do have table service for dinner but because is appears to be cafe style many others were placing orders at the til. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Warning the portions are very large so in future we would order less. We tried the prawns and mushroom and chorizo appetizers and had chicken and lamb skewers for mains. Each main came with a roast vegetable salad and lovely hummus and flat bread. We will definitely come back here.

Incredible place. I'd only ever been here on cold Sunday mornings for a soup and Turkish bread, which was also delicious. Last night was my first time at night and the vibe was great, Josh on the decks playing vinyl, awesome tunes, perfect volume. Food was amazing, especially the fish in coconut tapas. The food, the ambience, as well as the service at Mezze Bar are well above average, not to mention the central location. I love the idea of tapas and shared plates - The food experience is much more enjoyable and varied that way - and topped with a glass of wine at a candle-light table makes it great not just for couples but also groups of friends wanting to have a pleasant night of interesting conversation. I have a different view on the sangrias from the other reviewers though - I didn't like it. Sangria is fruit soaked in hard liquor and then poured into wine, and diluted with a lemon fizzy, not fruit dunked into a glass of wine. A letdown. I'll just go with good ole wine at Mezze Bar.

I had the grilled polenta stack and it was simply incredible. I would go back again just for that dish. We also split the lemon tart and tiramisu for dessert and both were delicious. The place is great for groups as they can push a lot of tables together.

I went there with a few colleagues and everyone had a great time: nice beer, good food, great atmosphere (some music but not too loud), dimmed lights but not too dark. I particularly liked their separate vegan menu with a choice of about 10 dishes. I had the vegan mezze dinner plate (fennel carrots, grilled zucchini and eggplant, falafels, hummus) and my colleague had the falafel burger. Both were big servings and really good. Other colleagues seemed happy with the beers and non-vegan dishes.

We stumbled onto Mezze at the start of our trip 30 days ago and decided it was a place we wanted to return to in our last days. Everything we tried was outrageously tasty, and the people next to us were raving about their 3 totally different choices, so I'm recommending the whole menu .... and the desserts looked worth coming to on their own. I had the garlic mushrooms and chorizo tapas a second time as well as a caprese salad, The mushroom dish is a little salty for my taste, but sooo delicious, and a good quantity if you share. My table mates had the lamb burger and the chicken burger and loved all the different flavors in their sandwiches. The chicken dish included sumac, and a mint yogurt. The restaurant is beautiful and perfect for an occasion, but would be fine for a family too. I highly recommend this restaurant if you like your eating to be an experience.

One of my favourite tapas and sangria bars in Auckland. It's an absolute gem hidden away in a quaint location. I'd work my way through the menu and to wash it down either a jug of sangria or my personal favourite their Ginger Mojitos. Great place for dates or groups.
