Pricing might seem high for the area but when the food is delicious and the service so friendly and efficient you can't go wrong. Also allows BYOW another plus. Went there for my birthday dinner and the staff brought me a complimentary dessert and sung Happy Birthday - what a nice touch that was very much appreciated.

Ordered one of my favorite, yummy as expected. Very nice staff and service too. 💛

The atmosphere here is fantastic, make sure to book! The meals itself tasted great. The salmon sashimi pieces could have been bigger, felt that was lacking a bit. But the main dishes really brought it home for me hence the 5 stars. Made the price for two worth it but this could still be reviewed to match the premium price. Would come back here as the service was great and close to home.

Great Japanese food. Amazing service and beautiful atmosphere. We got there around 8pm and no problem to get a table. The food was fantastic, nice presentation, fresh tasty fish. We order brownie for dessert, a bit dry but good taste. Highly recommended.

I was here with a few friends of mine. I must say, the staff was very welcoming and friendly and had great customer service skills. I tried the hot Sake based on the staff’s suggestions that turned out to be an amazing experience! The food was great as I had read on other reviews. The presentation of all dishes was amazing too! It was very good to see that they had colourful drawings of children on their walls. Would visit this place again and would highly recommend! :) Cheers

Great food albeit a bit too expensive, but still worth it on Uber eats. In person the food is even better but it’s not the nicest interior or location. Sake tiramisu isn’t what you’d expect, pretty average.

Great Japanese food. Would highly recommend. Best to book first as it does seem busy. Staff were very attentive. We got the set course menu for 2 which was great. The place is on the more expensive side so I would recommend this for a more special occasion rather than a regular dinner.

Been here a couple of times now. It's close to home and food is great. Maybe a little pricey for the area. But it's still busy every time I go there. My go to dish... Chicken khatsu!

The food here is soooooooo good! And i loooved the sake tasting station. There was the green tea, the honey and the plum flavours. Sashimi was fresh and beautifully plated. The tempora prawns were not done properly and they knew it so they offered a discount (a small one but still an appreciated gesture). I would go back again for sure!

We are regulars of this fantastic restaurant. In fact, this place is our 2nd home. The staff are simply wonderful. The seafood always fresh and the food simply delicious. Combined with an adequate selection of Sake, the experience is always memorable (well mostly;)

Yummy Japanese lunch of Unagi (eel), Pork and Salmon sashimi sets. It was washed down with a large jar of Saké.

I ordered their food off uber eats so unfortunately didnt get a chance to visit the restaurant. I ordered a chicken value set and it was amazing, beautifully cooked, tasted amazing and was just an all round great meal, came with miso soup and that was also very nice. Hands down one of the best take out meal i have ever had. Great work Musashi team! Keep up the great work and I will be visiting you soon and often =)

The lunch here is well worth the cost. Good price for the bentos and lunch specials. The meals are substantial and there's a great variety of options (including for vegetarians). Staff are really nice too. I haven't tried the dinner here but I have visited often for lunch.

The staff were nice and friendly and the food was great! I had the Pork Miso Katsu which came with salad and a nice dipping sauce. It tasted really good and I also liked how some of the other dishes had little stove things that let you cook the meat at the table.

Delicious Japanese cuisine and amazing customer service! The food came out really quickly and was beautifully presented and so tasty - we started with the chicken karaage, and I had the snapper bamboo yaki and my partner had the eyefillet beef steak. We were given a small hot pot for the snapper and eyefillet for us to cook ourselves on the table in front of us, which was a really neat experience! It's also a bonus that it's a BYO restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here and would definitely recommend it 😊

Cosy place, plenty of parking, friendly staff If you like to eat with lots of personal space this is not the place for you. It was very busy on the day we ate here and people looked like they were really enjoying their meals. There are lots of different bento boxes to choose from. I had salmon, my partner had pork. Some of them they bring a burner and timer to the table and you have to wait a few minutes for it to cook. It was an interesting place to eat at.

Honestly, the food here is amazing, delicious and beyond sushimi! As a result this place is always busy! Lots of selection for drinks and food so guaranteed to satisfy even picky eaters. We had a vegetarian and a fussy eater and both still felt satisfied. Its style is casual dining so no need to get dressed up too much! The only draw back is that it is little spendy so allow a little flexibility in your budget! Had a fantastic evening. Would highly recommend.

We were looking for a place to take my parents for a special treat. This place certainly delivered. It felt like a very special treat. Service was attentive, fast and friendly. Food was fast, delicious and adequately portioned. The wine was reasonably priced and nice. there was a highchair waiting for our baby and activity book offered for 4 year old. Would definitely recommend and return.

Very good and friendly service but a bit disappointed by the food. Used to go there very often last year and it was amazing, but it seems to have changed. Meals were far much too sweet. Any dressing was very sweet whether it was on a side (i.e. salad) or as a topping on meat. And rice was not so sticky, making sashimi hard to eat. It has never been cheap but food was so delicious that we were ok with it. Now I find it a bit overpriced for the quality. Hope it's temporary.

Was our favourite Japanese restaurant. Last experience mediocre. Staff seemed clumsy spilling drinks and dropping cutlery. Main issue was the food which previously was delicately flavoured and subtle now tasted as though made from miso soup sachets. Still nice but for the price was unimpressed.

The best ever Japanese restaurant in Auckland!!!.... Well, I know it's a tall claim, but hear me out. This is a small place but very cosy. The service is simply amazing. We go there very regularly and the level of service is always great. Everyone of the staff greets you when u step in and bids u good bye when you leave :) The food is delicious and the portions are very generous. The presentation of food is beautiful. Have to mention the menu folder, which is colorful with detailed info on each dish with beautiful pictures of the dishes (and trust me the food looks exactly the same as the picture when it comes out). Dont forget to mention if you are celebrating a birthday. The birthday celebrant gets a free dessert. All the staff (and patrons) sing the birthday song, which makes it for either a very special or an embarrassing birthday :) depending upon who is celebrating. Overall, great staff, great service, great food. Love it!!!

. (06/2017) Amazing Japanese restaurant. Delicious food - didn't expect so much variety of vegetarian food and our items were specially prepared by the chef as per our needs. Friendly and amiable staff. Good service with smile. Quite unique serving concept for some dishes. Normally busy in evenings and reservation is recommended. Good for groups and celebrations. A big parking space on opposite side of the road although it may require little effort to locate as entrance is quite narrow.

I love this place. I have been here perhaps 5 or 6 times for dinner and have tried a good chunk of the menu, I’ve done the course menu which is great and fairly priced as well as ordered a la carte. When we went during happy hour we ended up with heaps of food and sake for really good cost/value. Our favourites are spicy edamame, sashimi selection, udon, and tempura. Try the Sayuri cloudy sake! Honestly the only thing I wish they had was rice or soy paper to substitute for seaweed cuz myself and my partner aren’t fans but we get it they can’t offer everything! The service is perfectly friendly & efficient, I like that they are straightforward and tell you how long you have the table for at the start.

Food was delicious, service was exceptional and we were even provided with blankets to keep us warm as we were eating outside! Definitely on the pricier side but well worth it - highly recommend!

Friendly staff members with big smiles and good service. The food look very appealing, and the decor is very interesting. Unfortunately, the taste were a bit of a miss for me; not as tasty as other japanese restaurants that I've been gone to. Especially with their price tag. Their lunches are more appealing, though: bento sets that are priced from $15.90 each.

Really great food at a fair price. The menu is HUGE and we look forward to going back to trying more. Tempura was a bit of a let down but nothing to lose a star over - we probably just ordered too much and felt a bit 'fried out' haha.

The food here was very good, however the service was extremely slow and made for an awkward meal - I got my food at least half an hour before my husband got his. The kara-age was great and I loved my salad. We'd definitely go back, but would hope for better service.

Stumbled upon this place on a Wednesday night and wish we had done so sooner! we ordered the $40 set menu and were VERY impressed with presentation, variety and quality of the food we received. The service was perfect, with just the right amount of attention from the wait staff, and the three courses coming out from the kitchen at just the right time. arigatōgozaimashita!!!

Best Japanese restaurant I ever been too, 4th time tonight. Always the same, consistent, fast, fresh, great service.

I had my doubts of trying a Japanese eatery in New Lynn, but it did not disappoint. We arrived at the opening time, 11:45am, and soon the restaurant was completely packed. The ambient atmosphere of the restaurant is quite something, but I assume it's much better at night time with the lighting set up. The food was great. I usually taste the rice to judge the quality of the restaurant first, and it was a pass. The miso katsu pork was thick and tasted divine. The numerous side dishes complemented the overall taste. I substituted the set sushi with aburi salmon and shrimp - they were so tasty. The only suggestions I have for Musashi New Lynn are to ensure that there are no flys - there were plenty visible, especially just above our head heights. Also, there was a funky smell which I could not find the origin. However, the presentation and the taste of the food were of high standard, they did not bother us. Thanks for the experience.

Best Japanese food in the country maybe? That's a big call but I loved all of it. Sharing platters with multiple courses that were all incredible, lots of veg options and labels. Do it, no ragrets Oh and we took our guide dog in training and they were sooo good about him, yes.

Utterly delicious. We ordered the tasting menu for two and we're thoroughly impressed. We also ordered up the spider rolls -- literally the best soft shelled crab I have ever eaten.

Had high expectations going in because of rating on Zomato. We were let down. Ordered tuna sashimi, teriyaki chicken and mojitos. What the went well: The tuna sashimi was really good. Would recommended! What needs improving: Menu has too many choices. Must Try dishes aren't promoted and hard to find. Expensive. It didn't feel like good value for the quality of the food and serving size. Service is a bit let down. We asked for recommendations because we did not know what to oder. Nothing was suggested. Teriyaki chicken was really disappointing for the amount paid. And the mojitos were sour.

This is our go to local for Japanese. Our favourite restaurant in West Auckland. The staff are always kind to me and my daughter. We love going for lunch or dinner. It’s like having town quality food out West with good value for money. They have special menus for the kids and a great lunch menu. I highly recommend this place if your looking for great food and service. Always ring and book a table to avoid being disappointed because they can get very busy. My fav dish is the chicken miso katsu lunch special. I also love their Sashimi, nigiri and lotus chips.

Went here for lunch with the kids. A quality japaneese restaurant with some authentic offerings. Kids menu and also allowed me to customize their special of the day to suit. Very nice meal.

Probably one of the best Japanese restaurant in akl. Good variety of food to choose from and almost everything is tasty. Try their "Nabe" if u want to try something different. You get a small paper based hot pot that you cook on your table in front of you.

Used to be my favorite Japanese place for lunch but the most recent visit, the quality went down The price went up which I don't mind as long as the money is worth it. Unfortunately the portion reduced and food quality is not as good as before.

Favourite. Full GF (gluten free) menu. They ask if coeliac or sensitivity; offer fresh oil to fry stuff in. Knowledgeable about which sauces have traces of gluten, or GF, but contains wheat etc. Super tasty sashimi, nigiri; GF tempura and soft shell crab fried all delicious. Lotus root chips too! ( k, i ate too much fried food, but i HAD to). Extensive drink menu. Reasonable (but $$) prices, especially for the quality and knowledge and preparation.... Desert looked good too.
